That's a good one
Because currently the "0 (Not mined directly)" is a bit useless
For those who have the ability, it’d be nice to get pictures of the different cosmetics posted.
All dwarves have the same cosmetics right? (aside from armor)
Probably just best to use the dwarf with the least obstructed face, so probably the scout
Aye
I'd rather a "preview" be implemented rather than add all the cosmetics too the wiki
A previewer would be nice but I have no idea how to make one of those
I meant in game
I was thinking of maybe doing a render of each cosmetic with a transparent plain Dwarf face, kinda like what Valve does with TF2/DOTA2 item icons sometimes
But I can't extract any functional materials, so I'd have to recreate those from scratch and map them to each cosmetic model
Easy enough for beards and such, which could just use a pretty basic material, but not so easy for the more complicated headgear.
If a cosmetics page seems like a good idea to you all I could start grabbing numbers and names
Maybe after the new armour sets are added, in-case any other vanity changes are included alongside
Wiki editor lyfe
"Hey guys I just spent 5 hours uploadeding images of all cosmetics and created a large table detailing their unlock requirements and costs"
Devs: "We're reworking the cosmetics system"
I mean, we've known about a cosmetics rework for a long time now
it's nothing new as far as news is concerned
If anything I expect additions rather than a rework messing all the data up
Vanity shop is where you can purchase various cosmetic items for your dwarves, it's located in the Space Rig. They are usually more expensive when compared to the upgrade prices. Each dwarf already has a number of items unlocked by default, each purchase of a beard, armor, he...
for vanity item list
Perfect, should of searched harder
yeah these pages are like secrets right now
The wiki shouldn't perfectly mirror the ingame UI at the cost of information
That's the point of a wiki, to have all information displayed including what the game does not
I'm saying the tables could remain constant with the upgrade terminal
And we would add notes to replace the entries near those
I'd want to avoid doing something like having in game "max ammo 90" then the wiki say "max ammo 120"
The wiki could rename it to "reserve ammo 90"
Add clip size as a row in weapons section
Or we could leave a note and clarify
If the game is outright wrong then yeah, aserix and say "game description is incorrect"
I think parenthesis would be better than a new row for upgrades
I added all the upgrades to a new row just today and previewed it and it looked kinda bad
So be like 8 (10)
1600 (2400)
2 (2.5)
That seems like it could be mistaken for the upgraded value unless clarified hmm
That is upgraded value
Oh I thought you were correcting the max ammo to include the clip
In that case I'd disagree since people wouldn't be able to view the cost of upgrades
You can still have the big table of upgrades underneath. I didnt say to remove info from the page
Unless you kept both () and the upgrade table
Oh I misread DnaJur's suggestion
I thought he meant have upgraded values in a new row
What about things like rock mining that aren't displayed besides the upgrade
Clip size already has a row in the table
Just for some guns it isnt on the upgrade screen (zipline, grenade launcher, flare gun) but should still be on the wikitable (which for 2/3 of those things it now is)
Rock mining?
The table mirrors the information given by the upgrade terminal, I think information outside of that terminal should be separate or noted in a different format
You mean Driller's lickaxe?
Drillers pick, just thinking about complications
Notes then. If it can't fit into a single number, just leave it in the notes
Ah missed that :p
I think that all information should be listed together for clarity
I don't see why wiki should mirror in game terminals instead of providing more info
They can provide more info and should, but I'd prefer some way of determining what's strictly from the game.
Erm, we can use a standardized format if you guys prefer
People can already see that info on the terminals
no wiki would exist without it's game lol
Look, the terminal gives info, some of that info as we established is misguided.
I'd prefer to list that confusing info and write a note to clarify
Why make the wiki as bad as the game when the wiki can be better than the game?
Make the wiki as useful as possible, then make a note saying that the game is inaccurate
I already explained the situation I wanted to avoid
If you want to proceed with adding clip size to the table entries than go ahead
Well of course I'm going to do that. We just had a situation where Cult had to boot up the game to check info because the wiki was missing it
you aren't wrong wikis are supposed to reveal more info about the game than the game has on it's own
but the thing is DRG already reveals all the information we need
not all of it but most of it
I'm not disagreeing with the addition of information, just where it's being added
we have added a few things here and there that the game doesn't tell you tho
I'm not disagreeing with the addition of information, just where it's being added
i'm responding to Hex boi
sorry
What is the point you are making?
TF2 for example doesn't tell you exactly how much damage a weapon does or how fast/slow it shoots, the players have to figure it out on their own by digging through the game which ends up being useful info for the wiki
DRG already tells you these things from the upgrade terminal
Yes, but how does this apply to our discussion on the table formatting?
wait wasn't this about the wiki needing to reveal info the game hasn't already shown?
It was also about where to put and how to write that info, especially since the ingame interface is misleading
This is what I was responding to:
I believe that the way information is obtained should not affect how it is displayed. Information should be displayed in the most readable way possible
I see
yes it should be as readable as possible
but we should also keep the in-game text somewhere
Only if it is not misleading
In the upgrade screen of the Gunner, the zipline has one stat regarding ammo. It says:
Max Ammo: 3
You can also obtain a bonus 1 from upgrading
If we put that verbatim onto the wiki, one would assume the Gunner can create 3 (or 4 with upgraded) ziplines, which is incorrect.
Additionally, the Gunner's minigun has a stat that reads:
Max Ammo: 0
I am not kidding
The stat is fine. The name is wrong
(It also should be hidden for that weapon too tbh)
this is what I propose for the front page
the icons aren't final of course
we could make brand new icons specifically for the front page
yee used a bit of Hex's icon picks too
Man, I always miss the big discussions.
Stupid timezones.
Did you check compatibility with different resolutions, as well as the mobile client @gritty bear ?
Also it looks like you removed/repurposed the slideshow box in your mockup
The rest of the sections could probably be shuffled better than what you have pictured
About would probably be better off on the left
Instead of the Twitter feed
Wiki mimicing the way the game displays stuff is fine (within reason), but I don't think it should compromise information.
I want to reformat a lot of pages, but I haven't really drafted any yet
yeah the image gallery was showing early screenshots anyway, the compatibility should be fine
the icons for new links I think are fine except for the perks one since it's noticably stretched
also what if the twitter feed was swapped with the video box?
I was going to update the slideshow with newer screenshots actually
do we honestly need the gallery?
galleries are nice
I think either the gallery or a video showcase ought to be enough
On the front page?
I def think we need cosmetic previews
having a visual history of things as they change is nice
The front page really shouldn't be so overcrowded with media
just give it a link
Front page should be updated showoff images
so the trailer or screenshots?
I'm not sure if 'page' is really the right word to use for that
Tab, section, area, part, division, element, unit, segment
I do think we have a couple of mainpage sections that could be combined or removed though
changed video box to the gallery thing
and swapped it with the twitter box
should this be better?
It still doesn't look right
I had no issue with keeping video and the gallery
Personally I do prefer the gallery
But why is the wiki box necessary
It's likely just part of one of the default layouts
I'm only against the gallery if it has too many images in the rotation, since clients will need to load all of them whenever they view the main page.
I would say it should be for press kit screenshots
I still don't think we need both it and the video showcase though
No other game wiki that I can find has both a gallery and a video showcase on the main page
Almost all don't have either
For reference I'm currently examining/comparing these wiki main pages:
https://battlerite.gamepedia.com/Battlerite_Wiki
https://dota2.gamepedia.com/Dota_2_Wiki
https://paladins.gamepedia.com/Paladins_Wiki
https://satisfactory.gamepedia.com/Satisfactory_Wiki
https://terraria.gamepedia.com/
https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Minecraft_Wiki
https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Main_Page
https://ahatintime.gamepedia.com/A_Hat_In_Time_Wiki (Only one to feature both gallery + video)
I'd say you're looking at inconsistent styles of games
DRG has a focus on atmosphere, and so awesome areas are crucial to the experience
First three you choose are competitive pvp games
Satisfactory doesn't really have an open beta or alpha to take pictures of
How about a comparison to NMS's wiki then?
Actually tbh I really like how they have theirs laid out, I haven't looked at it before
So then we have 3 media boxes
Twitter is new/upcoming material, gallery is just that, a gallery of things already within the game for all to find
Having both is not a bad thing
I can't even see the Tweets in the twitter gizmo, so I don't even know what it looks like
Plus twitter isn't solely images
As long as they serve different purposes I think it's alright
Twitter - dev news, gallery - awesome images, trailer - basic gameplay viewing
Ofc the trailer has some overlap, but I think the combat that can't be captured in gallery is key to distinguishing it
I thought about the video box and realized 99% of users will already have played the game
idk what's the use of a trailer in that case
imo there's three main demographics for game wikis
- Players who have never played the game and or only seen/heard some stuff about the game
- New players
- Existing players looking for more info
So it'd still be relevant, I'd say
who looks up wikis of games they've never played tho
wha
Make an informed purchase
I don't even think about looking up a wiki until I've played the game
cause then I have things to look up instead of randomly browsing
Only time I ever go to a wiki is when I have the game it's for
I dont go to wikis in general
what are you doing in this chat boi
Saying hi to the wiki lads
yo waddup
is there a higher resolution pic of the perk icon?
Which perk?
just the star icon
So the KPI points icon
yes
I remade the icon 2x the size
should upload it seperately from the official one, right?
perk_points_large_icon.png I guess
I mean technically it's the same thing, just bigger
The only page that uses it is the perk points image insertion template, which resizes it by default anyway.
On a non-Gamepedia wiki, it would probably be a good idea, but Gamepedia automatically generates a new copy of images that are resized so clients aren't loading the full resolution for a scaled down image
Your 2x version could do with a little bit of clean-up though
I might have an idea for a new icon actually, let me go make a mockup
Ehhh, I might have gone a bit overboard
If we use this, I'd probably have to do the rest of the mainpage icons in the same style to avoid it looking out of place
Also, unrelated, but I found the title font: https://www.dafont.com/danger-flight.font
Danger Flight Font | dafont.com
Probably going to try making a better wiki logo later with it
That's way too cluttered, IMO it doesn't mean anything
i'll upload my 2x perk icon and make a new category for front page icons, would that be fine?
you'll be able to update mine and put your custom made ones there
I am going to publish the new front page
while it's not perfect it's definitely better than the current one
I will still be accepting new designs and better icons of course
Cheers. I think while a wiki's main page shouldn't have every page on it, it should at least link pages that allow any page bar the more esoteric systems within 2 links from the main page
Are there still not any pcitures for mactera bombers?
nope
I don't know if you want ones of specific size
But I got good picute of acid spitters, and a mactera bomber using ansel, you can check them out in gallery
you can use cropped screenshots as place holder
Try to get some with the greenscreen background enabled so they're easier to crop
@hollow jasper there would need to be both a citations and a page banner
The citation would have to surround the relevant information.
Yes we went through this already several months ago
And didn't we agree experimental changes so much we might as well leave it to when official drops?
That was my opinion
Oh, then we're in agreement
I say "we" as in the Wiki editors in general
Anyway, an Experimental content page notice would be nice, so we can start work on new pages before everything gets released.
I'll go make one later
Alright, I'm ok with that much
Experimental template?
Present infobox at top of page for new content
Infobox positioned situationally with custom text for changed existing content
hey, @sweet falcon , is the wall eye on the wiki?
Its not really an enemy but
if its there it'll be in one of the biome descriptions as a unique fauna
...wiki isn't even translated...sad...well,that't not a huge problem, but yeah, pretty tough to read when English isn't your mother language...
what is your mother tounge
Russian, please don't have normal conversation in this chat
<@&308527061893513216> , does anyone know what the eggs are from? i think it might be Mactera egg, as we see the Glyphids come out of there brood nexus
Please don't ping all the wiki editors if you have lore questions
Why not ask a question like that in general
and now that role can no longer be pinged
huh. i though you guys would know the most
there's barely any developed lore for the game
we have no idea
there's a humorous theory that they cook those eggs
For an astrodemonoid spaceomlette (of doom)
I just wanted to point out that there is something missing in the wikipedia page for Hollomite ( https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Hollomite )
"Holomite is a secondary objective ore. They appear in any biome and mission type. 25 ore must be mined and collected to complete the objective." Yet there are also missions that require you to get 50, as seen in this screenshot
Not that significant, but i thought i´d point it out 😛
I created that article
Im pretty sure at the time only 25 ore objectives ever happened
but that was months ago
🤔 50? is the reward any higher?
probably. more time+more danger=more rewards
350 credits don´t seem that special though
yeah kinda sounds normal
Updated https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Template:Icon_perk with new perk icons
Perk page still needs to be updated with it
Working on beer labels and a hazard level icon template now
https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Category:Drink_label_icons
Also uploaded player status effect icons: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Category:Status_effect_icons
If we ever make a status effects page
Pages that need to be updated post-update
Space_Rig (link to Abyss Bar. Update jukebox songs. New secret room.)
Perks (new perks, update old perks with new names)
Hazard_Bonus (add hazard icons)
Hazard_Level (as above)
Vanity_Shop (new cosmetics)
New pages required
Abyss Bar (w/ drinks subsection)
I noticed that there is no achievement for Hollomite objective so its kinda useless to collect. Only for money/xp
Did they remove the 'Complete Collect Hollomite Objectives' milestone?
I dont see it. I have fossil, apoca bloom, boolo cap...
Hollomite would still count towards the 'Complete Secondary Objectives' milestone anyway
I have the Hollomite in my perk missions 🤔
Need to update vanity items page too
New cosmetics and possibly mention separate terminals
https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Umanite The page says that it can only be found in the radioactive and dense bio zone
Umanite is a crafting material resource. When mined and deposited, it will be added to the teams depository like other ores.
When the mission is concluded, the material will be added to the player's personal inventory in the space rig. It can then be used as an ingredient to ...
https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Magnite The same with Magnite
Magnite is a crafting material resource. When mined and deposited, it will be added to the teams depository like other ores.
When the mission is concluded, the material will be added to the player's personal inventory in the space rig. It can then be used as an ingredient to ...
Hi guys, I'm starting to do stuff in the wiki now too 😃

Does anyone know who this '1tatersux' person is?
He removed TommyGun (Regular dummkopf) from the community admins list.
No clue. Sounds like a salty person. Although why they'd go for the wiki idk
Does gamepedia give you the option to block people from editing? Or report accounts?
As a regular wiki editor, no
TommyGun might be able to as Wiki Guardian
And we can definitely report to Gamepedia staff
whoever it is might be monitoring this chat as we speak
It could be you, it could be me, it could even be-
see red! o wait thats blood
I'd imagine, that if the editing was recent, it was the guy who got banned earlier
someone got banned?
earlier in general
spent their time shitposting and insulting people, they got kicked as their warning, rejoined and continued
did he remove me from the admin list because he thinks I'm admin in here as well? lol
what a moron
anyway I'll block him if he does something again
it appears "It's a bug thing" perk was removed
from the wiki?
from the game
It had been moved to the end perk sections last I checked
oh yeah
gimme a sec I'll look
it's there
idk why they put it so far out
for such a silly perk it doesn't seem like it should be in the end game section
they forgot to increase the price of Hightened Senses II
actually hightened senses price never increases
I didn't notice any name changes while going through it
no noticable changes to vanity shop besides the new fedora
Vampire II and III Prices don´t increase too, if i remember correctly
All new perks dont increase their cost 🤔
Ugh, no, not all. Vampire has: 3-4-5-5 ; strong arm: 3-4-4 ; senses: 3-3-3
lol copy-paste job
Wonder when we get a perk for heavy blasting.
Hey, i dont know if its true but in the steam beginner guide for DRG, it is say
"When one explodes near another, but far enough away not to chain react it, that exploder will gain a temporary speed boost."
For the exploder
If its true its not on the wiki
It's true, can cause big speed bursts
I already see Exploder rush like this, but dont know the reason ;p can be cool to add it to the wiki
Nah its a cool things
added it
it's not supposed to
the planet is called hoxxes
???
the place where you are mining is hoxxes a planet
i know
but its not the discussion here
We talk about a modification that i cannot see, so i just ask him if im on the good page
yes it's Creatures of Hoxxes page
oh did you scroll down to the table at the bottom?
Can we rename that page?
WP:AT
Article titles should be recognizable, concise, natural, precise, and consistent.
hostiles
no need to split it, each creature will probably have a seperate page in the future
But why. If they've all got fairly similar behaviour then is there much reason to?
Unless we get more info like spawnrates etc and need somewhere to put all the infoboxes
I said probably
it is
What do you think about splitting it in collectives? Like one page for glyphids, one for macteras, one for stationary threats, one for passive?
it's kind of arranged that way right now
the page claims there's 10 kinds of glyphids, but only lists 8.
I don't think any are missing though, right?
Swarmling, Swarmer, Grunt, Webber, Spitter, Praetorian, Nexus, Exploder... 🤔
Dreadnaught...
loot bug, i guess.
Yes, but I personally think the Creatures-Page is kind of cluttered with information, even with the sections. Having a single page per Enemy would produce many very short pages, but putting all information concerning everything that moves in the game in one page makes that page not very readable
is the official plural of glyphid glyphids, or just glyphid?
official plural is bugs
but they're arachnids.
they dont have 8 legs or eyes though 🤔
bugs!
I think you're right in having glyphids and mactera grouped on their own pages
Passive is good as well: harvesters, jellyfish, and lootbugs.
Then fixed enemies could either be on their own pages or grouped together: cave leech, brood nexus, spitballer
I don't see how they could be grouped under any intuitive name though
Honeycombs and other structural hazards should be seperated because their mechanics are different. DRG handles doodads differently to hostiles
Official plural should be glyphids, considering that's what's been used in the patch notes.
Honeycombs aren't really a structural hazard though, they have a healthbar for one thing
And they house the actual damage dealers, being the bees "swarm" I guess is the official name.
All the other structural hazards are non-animal/insect things
Oh. I guess i was just confused as they don't seem to burn from my experiences
@steel hollow Renamed your Mission Terminal image to 'Mission terminal.jpg'. Added the new Terminals category you made to Space Rig images.
Also, where would the new rolling enemy fit under this proposed categorisation?
We don't have a name or a behaviour so 🤷
I think we can pretty safely assume it's not a Glyphid or Mactera
Can we?
So all that's unclear is behaviour
I'm at least 70% confident
Not totally, since this is a game and things can have any name the devs want
Also, would Glyphid Brood Nexuses be categorised under Glyphids, or Stationary Threats? Or just both since it overlaps.
They aren't glyphids themselves, so they'd be a stationary threat. Broodlings could either be a subnote under their entry, or the Broodlings could refer to the Nexus on the Glyphid page
I don't understand why you'd think these new enemies would be anything but Glyphids
Because they don't share many similarities with them
8 legs. Terrestrial. Sounds like a glyphid to me
Oh so they do
The new enemy also doesn't resemble a spider nearly as much as the other glyphids
Erm
I think the glyphids look just as much unlike spiders as the roller does
They remind me more of ants
Even if we draw a comparison to ants instead
The new enemy still doesn't look like an ant
What about Ground-Based Enemies, Airborne/Flying Enemies, Stationary Enemies, Passive Creatures
Or some variation thereof
I'm still partial to the individual creature page idea personally
But it's true most would be rather sparse
you could probably justify the existence of individual pages, but I'd still vouch for a summary page for the category of creatures
Something like: Creatures page -> Creature category pages -> Individual creature pages ?
Agreed
@sick sierra Sorry for the ping, but did you ever check if the Deeptora Honeycomb "swarms" have a HP value? Or do they just die instantly if fire touches them?
Also what about a "Plants" page
There's very brief mentions of plants on each biome page
But no images or detailed information
Some plants for instance are present on multiple biomes
I was trying to think of a term that would encompass both the unique plants and other unique features of biomes (e.g. crystals, fossil structures etc.)
For non-hazardous stuff
Doodad
[[Category:Doodads]]
Anyone else remember Starcraft map editor? https://i.redditmedia.com/YZuxmtljXS-RjBeXCqav16jn7GMFh8oByqWwodWOfEc.jpg?w=670&s=22ab4e4729b7d7dfb30ba66210660b59
I mean if you tried to subcategorize it into all the different kinds of features "rock formations", "fungi", "xenoarcheology" etc it would be worthless...
But grouping it all on one page is still nice because these features make up the physics of the cave and can raise questions
"cave features" might work too
or "cave form", since they're non-functional
meta names would be "doodad", "cave decorations", or "flavour objects"
I haven't looked into swarm hp. I assume if they have hp at all then it's something like 1. I'll maybe check it out when they add a new enemy.
@hollow jasper All the glyphids so far have 8 limbs
so yeah the roller doesn't quite fit into that
Huh, promo render shots mislead me
I just noticed in the Engineers shotgun description: "Holds four wide-spread slugs for rapid-fire death-dealing."
'slugs' are the shot that don't spread
Just a single projectile. It's not what the engie shoots at all.
Description column is all in-game text.
should post in bug-report then?
#bug-discussion or #suggestions I guess
is this page glitched for everyone? https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/ERR://23¤Y%25/
How is it glitched?
shows up for a second, then it says there's no text on this page
Screenshot? So that the guys working on it can have a look at what the issue might be. (works fine for me).
Sometimes i get white screen
yeah it removes that when it finished loading
But yes, the ERR cube's unorthodox name probably isn't helping things
I think it's great the error cube is giving an error
As kind on an inside joke, it'd be pretty cool if we could make it do this permanently
Well I mean we could set up a re-direct from that page to the actual one, but then I think affected people would just get stuck in an infinite loop
People head to the wiki to find out what the cube is, get teased with a second of info and then error
that's a pretty good idea
but the current page reduces ERR bug reports by at least 1% lol
but it increases bug reports about the ERR page itself ^^

we could always rename the page to ERR23
and have redirects on both the glitched and full title page to that
oh boy
it's mister "I will get my vengeance by completely failing at demoting the wiki guardian for no reason"
I sure hope friend requests don't expire or get removed unless you deny them
I wanna keep this gem
he'd either beg for unban or straight up 'troll' you
Yeah I don't think wikis like having unorthodox pagenames
Especially when it's something you really can't search with a keyboard without using alt codes
Rename to Error Cube?
The page works in firefox but not in chrome
for me it works fine in chrome
it's random and weird
yeah I'll just change it to Error Cube
page works fine for me on firefox
...wait. do we have it two times now?
ah its a redirect. I see 😄
Is the plan to have these weapons posted by @hollow jasper like this https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/File:Assault-rifle.png go into the Dwarf class pages like this one? https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Scout
If so, I can knock that out.
The Scout is one of the four playable dwarves in the game. He is equipped with a 'Deepcore GK2' assault rifle, the 'Jury Rigged Boomstick" shotgun, a reusable Grappling Gun, and a Flare Gun that fires sticky flares.
The scout boasts the fastest movement speed in the game, due...
Oh wait.. I'm confused. The gun images are already on these pages but in an "Upgrade" section. That's odd.
Production time refers to the cooldown between flare regeneration
Oh, that's not the flare gun, just regular flares. Ignore that bit then.
How does combining those sections open room for the section below?
also the description area is empty as place holder for when it actually gets one
Those two columns are massive and they contain similar info. Just a thought, seeing as the pages are organized really strangely. Images only in the upgrade section but not in the Weapons section?
Trying to think of a way to combine everything into one table. Haven't got it yet. Just brainstorming.
Could split and merge some cells like this: https://i.imgur.com/j1grzYK.png
That would combine both tables into one.
GK2*
Maybe something like this: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=User:Gregarious&profile=no
My only concern with either of those designs is that we'll lose the Upgrade description text.
Even though the majority are just generic descriptors, a few contain actual flavour text, like for the Gunner's Minigun. Packs a bigger punch! Excellent for making swiss cheese out of bugs.
If the descriptions ever get updated later on to feature more flavour text, we'd have to find somewhere else to put them.
Option B looks good though
With a few small tweaks
Background of weapon 'Desription' title should be the same as the weapon name/icon
And the initial stats info could work better using an invisible table with 2 columns, with text justify left and right for each one.
So it would look like Option A, but lined up better
Ok. I'll poke around and make an Option C with those recommendations. Thanks.
It's inheriting the CSS from the parent table, namely the borders: https://i.imgur.com/iyaU32b.png
Border="0" isn't working, either. Need a new plan or this needs to be converted to HTML, which is a lot clunkier to edit unless made into a template.
Even with the borders removed the spacing is off. Maybe I can do it just using cells. I'll give it another go.
Can't add cells inside existing cells. I think I can add more rows and columns, and then rowspan and colspan all the other rows and columns to make it look like there's a new table in there, but that seems a bit messy. Hm.
Yea I forgot you have to use HTML tables within tables if you don't want styling, I did that with the Biome Nav template
An 'Initial Stats' sub-table template might be viable, but we should probably decide which design to go with first
Also, I feel like the bold on the weapon name and 'Description' ought to be swapped
Or maybe both bolded, not sure
There's a slight catch with Option B and the description at the bottom - it may look strange if there's going to be a column of weapons/descriptions one of top of the other down the page. Food for thought.
Maybe I should set this up with two weapons so it's a bit more clear how it works.
I did think about that, which is why I suggested the background colour change
Could also remove the Description title entirely, stretching the weapon name all the way down
Ah I see. Yeah the color change would help with the visual separation.
My suggestion actually went the opposite way, I said to make both backgrounds the same. I figured the big description box would act as a separator
But a slightly different tint seems like a better idea
I was thinking A without the 'Description' cell
Stats get a bit squished on smaller screens or windows: https://i.imgur.com/WaQ3QPS.png
Oh, like have a missing block there? I've done that before plenty on accident. Don't recall how to do it on purpose.
No I mean like how B has it
Missing cell*
The weapon cell would stretch over it
Like this? https://i.imgur.com/aFBd3gx.png
Yes
maybe just do the stats like in option A?
also try not to improve the descriptions, they are straight from in-game and only typos should be fixed imo
Maybe have the stats across the top with the description and move the upgrade stuff to a new header and columns below the weapon. It'll bulk up the table for each weapon but be able to hold even upgrade descriptions. Mockup: https://i.imgur.com/oaMoPaS.png
See the enormous space in the upgrades column?
Put the description in the same cell as the upgrade title
So, "Armor Piercing Rounds - The beasties of Hoxxes IV are tough, but your trusty gun is tougher." in one cell?
If your focus is the empty space, we could make it look like this but it might be a bit goofy-looking being so tall: https://i.imgur.com/QzRsLln.png
Unless there's another image we can put in there maybe, like the dwarf holding the item in question or something.
I think HexZyle was referring to the current format
Also note that some items only have 2 Stats, so they won't show all 5 of those cells like in the mockup. It'll be empty space.
Oh I see.
If we can make them fit nicely, that's a fairly good solution
Oh. If that weapon description is straight from the game then I made a bad edit earlier lol. Thought I was making the description a bit clearer but I might've overwritten the dev's words.
Alrighty. Option C at the bottom is updated with feedback: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=User:Gregarious&profile=no
Need to get some sleep.
Alright, I'll see about making a sub-table template later and see how it looks.
Agh, HTML tables inherit the style too, I was only able to get away with it in the Navbar because the NavBox template is different from the wikitable stuff.
Works if I manually set style in every <td>
Now to turn it into a template
Hey guys, I'm a full-stack developer and I really love playing DRG. So I wanted to see if there are any current outstanding needs for the wiki that I could assist with.
@full adder How about something like this?
I'd also prefer the description on top, but I dunno how to do that
The empty space in the left column seemed awkward to me
Also I feel rate of fire should be 7.0/s
right?
here's my 2 suggested options, though I'm not 100% happy with either
Maybe slap the picture and description above the table itself? Not too familiar with the wiki's editing options, but if it's just simple HTML tables, maybe take it out completely?
Again, I'd love to contribute if y'all are interested in having a second set of eyes and / or a second head?
It's a free wiki. If you find anything that can be improved, go ahead
This was kinda what I was thinking.. It's a super rough sketch but something along those lines?
So each weapon would be a separate table, which would also make it easier to scan down the page.
Also please ignore the hideous table inside the State <td> element 😂
I just wanted some quick & easy layout
I like that one. I'll try to adapt that for all scout equipment when I get back from work tomorrow and see how it looks. Then we can copy that for the other classes
Cool! I contributed n'stuff!
Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I don't really like any of those. Either the row borders don't match up, the stats background is weirdly a different color, or the gun won't line up veritcally with all the other equipment in a line down the page like @hollow jasper and I discussed.
https://i.imgur.com/T2xi8Wd.png
I like how it's lined up but the background needs to match and there's awkward empty space above and below.
It should also probably be positioned so that the weapon is on the left side of the table with nothing below it. That way there's a straight line of weapon-weapon-weapon down the page instead of weapon-stats-weapon-stats.
Well I did say to disregard the terrible table under "stats" 😛
True. How did you remove the borders from it like that? HTML?
However, I get what you're saying. I'm not a huge fan of the picture being included in the table however..
Yeah I just set border: none; on the <td> element
You don't want an image of the gun being in the table describing everything about the gun?
I get what you're saying, but it just feels weird and makes it harder to scan. I don't have a better idea at the moment, but I'm also a little tipsy so.....
😛
I mean aesthetically it's quite nice, but having the weapon outside the table is going to inflate the height of the page by a bunch.
Reminds me a bit of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 https://usercontent1.hubstatic.com/2721185_f496.jpg
It'd also mean 1 entirely separate table per weapon/equipment item
And MediaWiki already recommends only using tables when needed as a general guideline. Not for performance reasons, but just because it complicates editing the page.
@hollow jasper Here's how it looks with your template: https://i.imgur.com/E1ThNT0.png
Nice job with that. Looks pretty damn good.
The wiki page it's on for anyone wondering (scroll down to Option C) https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=User:Gregarious&profile=no
Just fyi, 'Max Ammo' should only need to be renamed for non-shooting things.
Like Flares, Grenades and Satchels
Oh ok. I'll change that.
Also, did you intentionally remove the 50% alpha from the equipment icon column?
Yeah. Someone said it'd look better if it matched the header background.
The header background is around 70%, not 100%
Oh no shit?
And since it's kind of like a sub-header, 50% seemed like an appropriate value
I'll set it to 50 and we can see how it looks
Done. Hm.
I'm cool with it at 50%. It does visually separate the icon cell from the headers, which maybe is subjectively better.
I'm indifferent so I'll leave it at 50. How are we looking so far?
Pretty good I'd say
Weapon name ought to be bolded though
And maybe the upgrade names too
Just to make them stand out more from the descriptions
Like what BlueLegion did
Yup, good call. And done.
The whole table for a single item is now fairly complex - bold formatting, newlines after some | cells, a template inside it... I'm wondering if we shouldn't just make this its own template and have it include the initial stats?
This is for one item:
|+ Option C: Version based on feedback of above options.

|}```
Personally I'm fine with it. I can find my way around. People unfamiliar with the formatting maybe not so much.
Food for thought. I'd say it's your call.
It's about an extra 12 lines per entry compared to the current upgrades tables, and it includes the other table's info in it too.
I was going to put the weapons/upgrades tables into their own template at some point anyway
{{dwarf equipment table scout}}
Or something like that
Then we'd just edit the template table and it would plop itself into the corresponding Dwarf's page.
Making it easier to edit other non-table info on the Dwarf pages too
If nobody has any objections or more feedback to add over the next 24 hours, then I'll get started converting all the tables to Gregarious's final format.
Oh ok. That works
@full adder again, slight typo on the firerate in your table. The firerate should not read as "7 seconds", but "7 per second", which is already included in the template. The S is superfluous there
The current version reads as "7 seconds per second"…
On the topic of new pages that would be nice to have:
Status effects - Basically anything that causes an icon to show up on screen, list what causes it and what have the effect itself does
Secondary objectives - Some secondary objectives only show up on certain mission types (Egg elimination, dystrum point extract) So I'd like to have that information somewhere.
Mission Terminal: I'd like to have a page that goes into details about the server browser. Important to answer what the little drop pod and number for each biome means. (Common question)
On the topic of existing pages:
I plan to rewrite the glacial strata page or every other page to be in line with each other. Currently a lot of each biome description is copy/paste.
Magma core needs a mention of the mini lava-geysers
Abyss bar could use more pictures (Hoop game, jukebox).
Also mention - details of score in hoop game (I'm still not super sure myself)
Jukebox uses 2 credits per song.
Cup through hoop awards one point.
Come to think of it.. I have no idea what the drop pod number for each biome means.. 😳
@sweet falcon I was navigating through how you edit pages in wikipedia, and it looks really confusing. I’d rather have it be in pure html5 format.
Sorry, I don't follow. Do you have something to comment about the way I edit pages or are you criticizing gamepedia's structure
No I’m just saying it seemed really confusing from an outside standpoint
Not criticizing you at all mate!
There are two ways to edit pages in gamepedia through a sort of HTML-like deal or though a sort of UI filled menu system
Ah, I was confused since the DRG wiki is on gamepedia, and you were talking about Wikipedia format
Pure Html5 would make it a lot more accesible to front-end developers who want to contribute.. though... that's probably not a lot of people?
A lot of high schoolers actually get certified in html5 nowadays
It’s a class you can take in most high schools
Not the right place for that conversation
Well I feel it’s still relevant as we’re talking about the page layout and editing format that they use
But you’re right, it did divert a bit there
I mean anyone can write HTML, it's just a markup language.. But being able to do decent layout + design (which to be fair, might be beyond the scope of this discussion or thread) is not something you can just "certify" someone in.
There already is two different editing systems for gamepedia and several tutorials/ even a wiki dedicated to editing gamepedia wikis
True, not everyone has the creative aspect of their brain for it.
It is a talent
Lol, I’ll have to check that out flip
Can you link me?
And even if people don't edit pages there are ways they can contribute
I like to think anyone who wants to help the wiki isn't limited by an entry bar to contribution beyond self-intimidation
The DRG community page has a "getting started" link or something
Gamepedia uses the MediaWiki wiki software with some custom modifications on top.
The standard way of editing a MediaWiki wiki page is in a Wikitext format, which is text-based.
Wikitext is a document written in a wiki markup language, such as the current one explained in Help:EditingHelp:Editing (see also Markup spec/DTDMarkup spec/DTD). It is a mixture of content, markup, and metadata. The current and old versions of all pages of a wiki are stored ...
Gamepedia provides an additional method of editing, which is the visual editor.
Though more limited in several aspects, it's a much easier approach, especially for people unfamiliar with Wikitext or HTML in general.
@supple flame Good eye. Fixed.
Just throwing in my 2 cents worth about HTML vs Wikitext - Switching to using HTML is not good. It's more complicated than Wikitext, and thus makes it more difficult for casual users to update the wiki. Making the wiki less accessible to the community is the opposite point of having a wiki in the first place. HTML can still be used in specific areas where Wikitext isn't advanced enough, such as some tables or in templates that the general public won't use much.
only a rough mockup for now. Like this, the weapons are horizontally aligned, and each one is a tab that opens the stats + upgrades underneath. no wasted space.
I like that idea, though it depends a lot on horizontal space. We'd want to make sure it still looks good if the browser is resized or it's viewed on a phone.
It certainly saves a lot of space and it looks clean.
aside from the stats menu, but that wouldn't look like that in the final version
I installed an extension in my former wiki that allowed for tabs like that: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Tabs
I don't recall if it also allowed images in the tabs. I think it might.
The Tabs extension makes it possible to insert tab menus, dropdown menus, and collapsible boxes into any page, using the <tabs> and <tab> tags, or the {{#tab:}} parser function. This extension requires no JavaScript to work, except for older browsers such as Internet Explorer...
I think I got the idea from the warframe wiki, see here http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Weapon_Comparison
The following is a comparison of all of the weapons in the game. Tabs are based on Achievements
does that work the same way?
I see a div class in that page's source. Looks like it might be a HTML/CSS template instead of an extension. I don't think Wikia allows installing extensions anyway. You use theirs and that's it.
I'm guessing it's the same with Gamepedia though. Not sure on that.
These are all the Gamepedia extensions we have access to. I don't see anything tab-related: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Special:Version
Oh my mistake - I think it IS an extension used on the Warframe wiki. "Tabber" : https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Tabber
And it looks like Gamepedia allows us to request it as well: https://help.gamepedia.com/Extensions
The Tabber extension can assign blocks of content to specified tabs and allow user to dynamically switch between them.

might be above my skill level, but I'll look into it on the weekend
Here's an example: https://help.gamepedia.com/Tabber_Example#tab1
I haven't seen images in either the example or the Warframe wiki, so it might not be what we're looking for.
Not looking good so far: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Tkty1se41dk2s59c
@supple flame A bit too complex for a wiki. That's closer to what I would expect from a standalone application or even an in-game UI.
Not to mention it'd be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to fit nicely (or acceptably at least) on the mobile view.
It also makes it harder to just scan information, since you'd have to click each 'tab' to switch between them, as opposed to just scrolling up and down.
general brings up a good point about the creatures page, "Cave Vine" is a non-threat, should switch tables (also needs a picture)
https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Creatures
Are the devs working with the wiki editors to get images? Some of them look like nice images made from a modeling program with a transparent background, like this one: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/File:Silicate_harvester.png
The devs would be our best source of media rather than some square screenshot with a bunch of stuff in the background.
Most of the creature images are 3D renders taken from the public press kit
That particular image of the Harvester was taken from a Twitter video thumbnail
Which I then cut out and cleaned up
The press kit hasn't been updated with all the latest additions, unfortunately
With the addition of Ansel, we should be able to grab some decent high-res shots of the creatures we're missing using the green screen filter.
Have we tried reaching out to them about it? Any transparent renders from them will blow away anything we're able to make when it comes to individual creatures or equipment.
Not to my knowledge
I feel like this is important enough for the future of the game's wiki, so I'll give it a shot. <@&257786783666929665> : Don't mean to bother you, and I don't plan on doing this mention ever again, but is it possible to coordinate one or more of the devs giving the wiki content creators some images of your model renders for the wiki so it looks really nice?
Renders from a developer modeling program will look great like this: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/File:Spitterplant.png while our images will probably look more like this: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/File:Hive.jpg
It'd certainly make the wiki look its best.
Probably ought to have gone through Mads instead of just pinging all the devs, since he's the Community Manager.
But I suppose we'll get a response regardless, probably
Oh. I'll do that next time if there is a next time.
@full adder Great initiative, and I'm sure we can figure something out!
I can't give you a certain timeframe on delivery, but if you can compile a list of what you'd need from us, send it my way in a PM and I'll see what we can do.
And for the record, it's fairly rare I check the Discord myself these days since everyone is pinging "Developer" all the time. I was directed to this topic by our good lad Pedro. But feel free to direct requests like this to me directly in the future. 👌
Well if you want to start compiling a list, Gregarious, I'll get started on the new equipment tables
Oh awesome. Thanks for the reply! I'll be happy to connect with you about it when we get organized with what's needed.
@hollow jasper Here's a quick first draft of a list based on what I've seen in the wiki:
Cave Vine
Deeptora Honeycomb
Mactera Goo Bomber
Mactera Ice Bomber
Mactera Grabber
Glyphid Acid Spitter
Alien Egg
Aquarq
Fossil
Enor Pearl
Jadiz
Error Cube
Bittergem
Compressed Gold
Mini-MULE Leg
Other random-gen resources like gold? Guessing this might not be easy since it's probably a small model that just gets repeated?
Crytal-ish resources like Holomite and Magnite seem less random-gen. Are they a single, large model?
Weapon models? We have outlined versions like this: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/File:Flamethrower.png
When they're done, armor models maybe? Should we also do all the other vanity items or is it easier to just do in-game screenshots?
Bosco? Currently have this: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/File:Bosco_portrait.png```
You've already done an awesome job getting a ton of images that look like model renders, such as all the perk images and such. I'd feel better if I had your approval on most or all of this stuff. You've been doing this a lot more than I have.
Add the Ice Variants of the other enemies in there too
Yes. Good call.
I don't think we currently have a need for equipment renders, but I guess you can include them as a low priority request
All of the non-embedded resources are generated in-game
Afaik
Including Magnite, Umanite, etc? I might ask Robert about that. Not sure how those are rendered.
It's possible they use a base shape as a reference
In-game they look like a constant model that always looks the same, but I could be wrong.
But I'm pretty sure the actual resource is generated on top of that
With added noise and stuff
Anything else you can think of? I just went through all the main pages and wrote down images that we don't have or images that are from in-game screenshots.
Lootbug
Maggot (all variations)
New Rolling Enemy
Lloyd
Elevator Plant
Ejector Cactus
Lootbug is there: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/File:LootBug.png
Did you still want their version?
We have the opportunity to ask, so may as well
Ok. I figured your version looked pretty good
That one wasn't me
Someone else took the original screenshot, TommyGun cut it out
I just rotated it
Oh ok
Brood Nexus
We have a nice version of that, too.
Ah yes. I see the white marks along the bottom.
Current resource images are probably sufficient. They also give a small amount of context about how they generate in the world too.
But you can add them with the equipment icons as a lower priority request
Oh yeah, we don't have those plants on the wiki it looks like.
That platform thing in Glacial, too.
Know what it's called?
Oh, Platform Plant. Shoulda guessed
High priority requests would be all the creatures
You can prioritise the rest however you see fit I reckon
Mini MULE shot might be useful somewhere too
Both broken and operational versions
Yup, added.
Supply pod, active and inactive
What's the Ice Plant? You mean that warm oasis thing?
No the Ice Plant
The exploding plant of the Glacial Strata
Shoot it, it explodes freezing nearby enemys/dwarves
No damage
Oh ok. You listed both. Thought they were separate
They are separate
They have a different model as opposed to just being a re-colour
And they function differently, I just used the exploding plant as an allegory
Sorry, I'm still a bit confused. I know the exploding ice plant. Is there a similar recolored version in other levels that you're talking about?
The original exploding plant is found in the Magma Core, the orange ones
OH
In a recent update, they added re-coloured variations to other some biomes
Like Dense Biozone
THAT one. Yeah. I gotcha. And then there's the tall version, too.
They get huge, yeah, but I mean tall and skinny. The ones with the spikey head on top. I'll try to find it..
Right here at 0:18 seconds in: https://youtu.be/MkYgfYxNy5A?t=18s
UPDATE 16: WINTER HAS COME Hello miners! We’re back in the saddle after some lovely summer vacation and have prepared a new patch for you. In response to all...
That's the Ice Plant
Maybe not tall and skinny. Just a bit taller than a dwarf.
Ok, now I'm clear on your list.
I wonder if the Hot Spring is a model.
Oh, looks like the Patform Plants are called "Cryofoam Plants" in that video.
@hollow jasper By "Supply pod, active and inactive", did you mean the Escape Pod in Salvage Operations? Or a supply pod that's full and empty?
Ok
Here's an updated list. I need to go but I'll be on later.
----
Cave Leech
Deeptora Honeycomb
Mactera Goo Bomber
Mactera Ice Bomber
Mactera Grabber

(List is not final. Hook me up with any suggestions)
Well there are tons of plants but idk if they are necessary as they don't do anything e. g. wall eyes breathing plants etc.
Technically in the same group as cave vine
Also silicate harverster
We already have one of the Harvester, but a proper render would be nice I suppose
Well you can still include photos of them
@full adder All the crystal formations like Holomite etc. are all fully randomgen, so there's no good way to give you a "clean" render like we would with a gun for instance. A good ingame screenshot is probably your best bet there.
The cave vines would be fine on a "doodads" page or a plantation/cave decoration page in general
Spitball Infector in its "sleeping" state
Silicate Harvester
I think that's it, unless anyone else has any requests.
@cobalt nimbus Roger that, thanks for the clarification.
@hollow jasper Added those. Also added Spitballer's awake state, since it's likely those two images will be close together and if they look vastly different it'll be weird.
I've started working on making the equipment table. How's it looking so far? https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/User_talk:BlueLegion
Done with the scout. Did I miss/mess up anything? @hollow jasper
Will do the next class tomorrow if there's no objections
Looks great to me, @supple flame, thanks for doing that.
🤔 its missing the scouts secret weapon
did driller too, but you might want to check for stupid mistakes because I'm super tired. Going to bed now, I'll finish the other two classes by sunday
barrel minigame info:
- beer mug's base score is always 1
- yellow barrel's base score is always 10
- red barrel's base score is always 25
- red barrel will always appear on every 5th barrel spawn (without reseting)
- score multiplier increases with each consecutive goal up to 4x
- multiplier resets after the hoop 'bounces' back 3 times
- bug: sometimes the barrel counter wont reset
- bug: dwarf will sometimes say a negative voice line even when succeeding
- bug: if you reset right before the barrel goes through the hoop the points will still count with the barrel counter sitting at 0 (similar thing can be done to make a red barrel spawn early)
- note: green barrel rewards just 10 points
somebody wanted some minigame info
also dont worry about my avatar we are doing a dumb server theme
is this jim stirlings fault or does it go beyond him
jim sterling? I dont watch em
the avatar?
some guy made a silly comic about new spicy Mario lore, in which Toadette gets an upgrade that makes her look like Peach. Someone applied it to Bowser, and then japan caught wind, and it was all downhill from there.
@supple flame I was actually still making some changes to it to make it look a little less wonky on smaller screens, but I should be able to just paste my changes on to your table.
Also, all of your icons on the Driller table are missing a space
Should be {{icon}} stuff, not {{icon}}stuff.
Was also going to increase border thickness by a few pixels for the borders between each equipment row, just to make the separation a little more visually obvious
Otherwise, looks pretty good
Wondering if I ought to make a variation of the invisible stats table template for the 'Requirements' column...
A template would make that easier, especially if something is changed/added. as it is, I just copied/pasted the entire upgrades section from the current existing tables with minimal changes needed
I blame the icon dilemma on the tired
First template is up: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Template:Dwarf_gear_table_scout
Once we get all four table templates complete, we can update all the class pages at the same time.
Made a few changes to the layout, namely:
- Upgrade descriptions are automatically hidden on mobile view to reduce visual clutter.
- Certain columns have specific width values to hopefully make the table still look good in other resolutions
- Removed 'Notes/Tips' from the description cell, as there isn't a clear enough distinction that it's not part of the description.
- Increased border width between equipment rows to 3px.
- Added some minor padding to some cells to prevent content hugging cell borders.
Mobile view currently looks acceptable on my 5.5 inch 1080p display, haven't tested other mobile resolutions/display sizes.
Second template up: https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Template:Dwarf_gear_table_driller
More changes, applied to both templates:
- Increased size of a few equipment icons. Also standardised their size for icons that are used for multiple classes.
- Added some missing stat info to equipment that was missing it. Also edited names of some existing stats (e.g. Duration -> Field Duration for Scout's IFG).
- Added some extra stat info (i.e., not shown in the Gear terminal) for some equipment, roughly calculated by myself but need furthers testing for more accurate and precise values.
- Fixed cells in the Requirements column not having any vertical padding.
yeah I wondered that too when I whipped up that table
but that's what it is right now
working on the engineer table right now using the new layout by @hollow jasper
It's called a 'Red Flare' in the Gear terminal
Clearly hasn't been updated to reflect the new flare colour yet
Scout and Gunner have a 'High-Intensity Flare'
Which is light-blue
Is there a reason the sentry comes before the platform gun on the engineers page?
Grandfathered in from the original design
I re-arranged the Scout and Driller weapons to match the loadout order
Should probably do the same for Engineer and Gunner
the new templates seem to be in the right order for scout and driller
Because I re-arranged them
did I have them in the wrong order?
I didn't notice it for scout/driller when I made the tables, strange.
or did you fix them earlier
I haven't changed any existing tables
Your tables had them in the same order as the current Scout/Driller pages
Which makes sense, if you used them as a base
Oh you're right. I didn't notice they were swapped yesterday
was too tired to notice probably
I'll do the engineer template in the right order then
Well I'm going to bed. If you finish the other two tables then I'll do a final check of all of them tomorrow and we can update all the class pages at once.
it doesn't help that the swapped equipment names are "platform gun" and "gun platform" 😋
Engi template done. https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Template:Dwarf_gear_table_engineer
@hollow jasper One thing you should check is whether the image sizes suit your needs and match the other pages. As I added the images for the 4 main weapons, I used the image sizes from the current engineer equip page. For the rest of the equipment I kept the images and sizes that were in your template to begin with.
Also I would like to suggest swapping the order of Fire Rate and Reload Time in the stats template, as rate of fire affects a weapon first, reload later. I feel it's more intuitive if the stats follow the same order. Just something I stumbled over
that's the wikipedia page
this same guy has vandalized the page several times
well I'l l revert it and see if i can report.
did you just happen to be checking the wikipedia page? that edit was less than 5 minutes before you posted your message here
The plot thickens.
Yeah
My friend saw it and started busting out laughing
I asked him what is was
He linked me to it
That's quite the coincidence
It is
I had two friends in my Xbox live party
Me and one friend were playing it, my other friend asked what the hell it was
I said look it up, and the story advances
Alrighty, anyway,
I want to update the missions page with the length to morkite requirement for search and extract and mining expedition
Can’t the amount differ?
Length to morkite meaning it does differ based off the length
And I want to confirm the exact amounts before editing the entry
No, I don't think so
Well me and a friend just finished a mission, want me to verify?
Just tell me what different values you see besides 200, 250 and 325 if you see any
Gotcha
@sweet falcon 400
Sigh, so are mining expedition and search and extract different amounts?
Different cave gen rules too
Search and Extract isn't always one giant cave but it usually consists of giant caves
Probably depending on complexity
I had 'Reload Time' come before 'Rate of Fire' because that's how it was ordered for the Scout's Assualt Rifle.
Seems to be the exception rather than the rule, and having it the other way around makes more sense
Updated stats template.
Oh huh, I just realised they updated the Gunner's minigun icon again
It now matches the style of the rest of the icons, instead of being from a slightly tilted birds-eye view, and has less excess detail on it
I'll have to update that later
Ok, I've done a run-through of all four tables.
I'll push them to the actual Dwarf pages later before I go to bed, in-case someone spots something I missed.
https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Category:Dwarf_gear_tables
whoops. I guess I left more to fix than I thought. sorry
great job with the new table boys
sadly tips had to be cut
should we do a basic strategy section for each class similar to tf2wiki?
Awesome work with the tables!
I'm just going to cite both as existing on the wiki.
I'm also considering writing the permutations on the wiki ie: for mining expedition its possible to get
length 3 complexity 3
Length 2 Complexity 2
Length 2 Complexity 1
Length 1 Complexity 1
Alright, I need someone to do a cleanup on the https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Missions page.
I can't think how i'd want to organize the data into a table, I'm honestly only really happy with the mining expedition info, for missions that have fixed lengths and complexities the info feels like pointless clutter (I'd be ok if this was removed, I just put everything in the same format for now)
I really want to start on a secondary objective page, the current https://deeprockgalactic.gamepedia.com/Resources page is rather difficult to navigate, and the bottom bar is too specific
@sweet falcon when mission terminal says you need more than 25 hollomite, it's a bug
in-game it will always go back to 25
but it does seem like they might of been planning to do something with that
@sweet falcon Weird username change. Anyway, I feel like being that specific with each length and also including the different possible combinations really isn't needed. Feels like fluff. Also with the game still in early access and likely seeing those numbers change at any time, we could probably get away with "Length 1 - Smallest map size, least amount of Morkite needed" or similar.
Including the Possible Length/Complexity Options feels like including the possible combinations of classes your teammates might be in each level.
I have to agree with that
the only difference with secondary objectives is you cant get dystrum outside of Point Extraction
Maybe something like this mockup as a top-level table that explains the stuff that every mission has, but @gritty bear is right about Dystrum so that will need to be outlined somehow. Then, each mission-specific section ("Extermination", etc) can have details of what to expect in that mission without redundant data.
One option is to remove the "Secondary Objectives" from that mockup table and have those listed within each mission. We'd get some redundant data but it would solve the Dystrum conundrum.
But I think every single mission has varying levels of length, complexity, and hazard level, so that can all go in one table at the top to explain it without needing to repeat it for every mission type.
Maybe do that instead of secondary objectives - Hazard levels. Something like this: https://i.imgur.com/9JEObEh.png
Oh, "There are only Length 2 Complexity 2 Salvage missions"
So maybe we do need to duplicate more of this than I thought.
yeah there still has to be a better way
don't think we need hazard levels tho
it doesn't do anything besides increase enemy spawns and their damage resistances
the hazard bonus is already listed in-game and could easily be done in a seperate section of some sort
Fair enough
Something like this perhaps: https://i.imgur.com/lxW3EHJ.png
I removed the numbers in the secondary objectives because I don't think that part is important - just it being there is more important because some players will be farming perk points and need that "Collect Alien Egg" objective and aren't sure where to find it. That happened to me recently.
As a side note, in case anyone wants a way to make a quick mockup like this, I use http://www.tablesgenerator.com/mediawiki_tables#
Easily create tables in MediaWiki format used on wiki pages.
Though I'd caution using the generated code. It's not fully-featured but might help as a quick start.
Could probably use a "Primary Objective" column in there as well, for clarity.
@gritty bear You can't get Eggs outside of Elimination though right?
I think you can get eggs everywhere except Egg Hunt and Point Extraction
but I didn't exactly research that
@full adder what if something like this? https://i.gyazo.com/1b6d5e6cb7da432152e3ae70f990bcee.png
Salvage - eggs are possible as secondary.
True
Are you going to represent the lengths and complexity as 1,2,3
What about combinations like 2,1 and 3,3
When there doesn't exist a 3,1
Also I want the numbers somewhere, especially for the secondary objectives that are fixed
If not in each mission then I'll write another header section at the bottom
I think when the primary objective changes based off length it is rather important (mining expedition)
The existing info for "there are only x and x length and complexity" is all accurate
How common are wiki trolls @sweet falcon ?
Dunno
I didn’t get to checking the morkite req for each haz and length respectively, sorry
no that thing would just be applied to secondary objectives
Maybe a Maximum Bonus column, which identifies the multiplier on found crafting minerals and, I think, gold. I'm guessing only Mining Expedition and Egg Hunt have the highest bonus since they allow for Length 3 and Complexity 3. On that note, are all Mutators possible for all missions?
yes they should be
also pinning down the maximum and minimum amount of crafting materials and gold is a pretty big challenge
since it's proceduraly generated you'll never be completely sure
Even if you could, I don't think it's particularly useful info
We shouldn't even attempt to provide maximum crafting materials and gold. That's fruitless.
ah apologies could've sworn it was about maximum crafting materials
It's also heavily dependent on teammates surviving.
yeah maximum hazard bonus would be neat info
assuming you even have a full team
Just the maximum potential bonus, maybe, as a result of Length, Complexity, and Mutators. Could be an interesting addition to the table for people trying to maximize efficiency in perk farming or buying vanity items.
I think it could be an interesting addition to the trivia section
That might be the way to do it if there's only one or two possible combinations that have the highest possible bonus.
If you want a hazard bonus table put it on the hazard bonus page
But it's very doable for people to do the calculations themselves
created a hoop the barrel page because I found the information given on the abyss bar page to be very lacking
It's rough, but gives a general rundown. We'll need some images to illustrate what I've put into it. I've got a short video clip of the game in action as well I'd like to stick on it
is the entire wiki currently english-only?
I think I saw some Russian translated pages but I might be wrong.
I guess I could help translate to German if people want it
https://help.gamepedia.com/Requesting_non-English_wikis
https://help.gamepedia.com/Translation_guidelines

I don't think we're in a position to start translating to other languages yet
Plus we'd have to retrofit every template that inserts text to support multiple languages
@sweet falcon were you able to get all the different morkite requirements for the missions with diff lengths and haz levels?
I wrote them all on the wiki missions page
Nice
Should we add these to the dwarf class pages? https://youtu.be/2Z7Ow7uu7Bs
Can anyone explain to us how this Platform Gun actually works? -------------------- DEEP ROCK GALACTIC is a co-op-first sci-fi FPS featuring badass space Dwa...
@supple flame no, they're old
the only problem I see with them is outdated models
@wary cove guessing you didn't use the info I've gathered on the minigame
no, didn't see it
been testing stuff myself to figure it out
the text on the abyss bar page for the game is abysmal, so I went and gathered what I could on a dedicated page
I can repost what I've gathered if you want
go for it
