The only language that had translators hired to work on the translation was Japanese, as far as I am aware, for the Sony release.
All other languages that reached a certain size have had some translators hired from time to time to check the quality of the translation.

This is one of the prime example of puns that are better left alone until you have a more experience (and it's not a vital part of text, so it can safely be skipped).

You don't have to leave comments on strings if you are not suggesting something, though. Comments on the platform are used to communicate with all languages, so those are better suited for general questions, or remarks that need to be left there for anyone coming after.

Hi guys. There is this Steam achievement called "Hi Ho, Silver - Away!" and in polish it is named as on the screenshot. In the desc of it Molly is called Molek which has no sense as it almost doesn't imply connection to the animal mule.
If we want to translate Molly to polish with emphasis on word mule IMO it should go like Mułka ("muł" being mule in polish and "-ka" being a female exclusive suffix in the language)

So the description of the achievement would go like "Ujeżdżaj Mułkę przez 15 sekund."

Some things get bugged and the translations don't make it into the game or are broken in some other way. Newly translated text is usually imported as soon as a new update drops, and recently we managed to get all but one string translated, and that one is for a season that isn't coming anytime soon, so if you've seen something untranslated a while ago it's most likely translated now

I would simply recommend you avoid the mission titles system and the mineral ticker strings, as both work by smacking text together, and that makes it extremely time consuming to translate.
Just hit consistently on the all Game text file, and use the glossary and/or the search function to see how previous words or names were translated.

From what I remember, usually proofreaders aren't really needed. Translations make it into the game even if they're not approved (IIRC, the priority is approved > most upvoted > newest)

Hey, I'm the current Hungarian proofreader.
I've only joined the project about 2 years ago, so a lot of older work is not mine, but the other translators and I have tried refining older translations wherever needed.
Suggestions are always welcome. You could mention them here for the time being, until you get a translator role to access the Hungarian chat.

Well, to start off, when I was thinking about how I would name things, I came up with two things
I tried to not translate them word by word, but rather on some other attributes, or how they would be actually named in Hungarian

My two ideas are
Lootbugs are currently called “kincsesbogár” if I remember correctly, and I was thinking maybe something like “ércfaló”. Something short and simple
The other one was the Deep Dives. They are currently “Mélymerülés”, but I think “A Mélyvíz” might sound better.

If you like these suggestions I’ll think about more and send them here

Golden lootbugs could also be “Aranyos ércfaló” respectively, because it has some wordplay with cute

The strings will be pulled to the game even if they are not approved, as soon as the request for Norwegian to be added goes through (I will post the info here once it is confirmed)

Patch notes do not count towards it (mostly because it is not content that should be prioritized, nor of any importance to the gameplay).

It's not fully up to date (it doesn't have the factions), but doing those should be simple after the fact

It has a random roulette on the third table so it'll randomise everything when you refresh the table

there are actually quite a few differences between the BR and the PT. The main one is grammar and the way sentences are formed. For example, PT-PT can be more formal than BR in the way it organizes and constructs sentences. And in the eyes of a PT-PT, a lot of the way BR writes, is grammatically incorrect because of the verbs, adjectives and forms of expression used...
PT-PT also prefers to use the original terms rather than translating them in many cases, unlike BR, which prefers to translate whenever it can. Much of the PT-PT vocabulary is adaptive to the point of introducing English expressions as if they were Portuguese. Examples: "I'll make a backup" --> "Vou fazer um Backup" , "I'm going to download a document" --> "Vou fazer download de um documento", etc...

In the end, there is indeed a language barrier between the 2 languages and they are more distinct in the way they are written/organized grammatically and in the type of words used.

that's just hate on the part of the respective youtuber, and I happen to know which video you're referring to...

The truth is, if PT-PT didn't exist, PT-BR wouldn't exist either. PT-BR is just a variation of the original language, but as Brazil has grown enormously and there is a huge population there, "PT-BR" has ended up being more considered the "standard language" than the original language itself...

They then made their own variations and, as I mentioned before, changed a lot of grammar and a lot of terms and expressions of a lot of words... it's a bit confusing I think.

However, for anyone reading this, don't get me wrong. I have nothing against PT-BR / anyone Brazilian or even the fact that PT-BR is more popular globally than PT-PT. In fact, I find a lot of the terms and ways in which Brazilians have constituted "their own language" interesting, if I can say that... it's just the way the language itself has evolved that happens to make some people assume something wrong based on their own opinion and how the situation of the "preferred PT standard language" is today.
