Man, they're still pretty rare, unlike the Bulk detonators but I really really enjoy the korlok tyrant weeds. With their random placing and the procedural nature of cave generation each fight against them is different and fairly difficult. And frankly I just adore learning about hoxxes wildlife, flora and fauna both.
Can I apply to join the R&D department, combat mining is so cool but I find myself fascinated by the creatures and the odd structures we find down in caves. In particular the Omen gun tower, what in Karls name is R&D doing down there. And if R&D didn't put it down there, who did?
I know I'm probably thinking too hard about it but every smidge of lore about the company, the planet, it's resources, flora and fauna excites me so.
Even better is the ability to say this where the devs may see it. It's a great feeling being able to have the little love-letter speeches I'd normally make to friends or an empty room about this game possibly be seen by the people who make it.

So I've discovered something that I thought was a general Xbox issue but turns out no it's a DRG XBOX version issue, mouse and keyboard intermittently disconnect and reconnect every now and then, no idea why. But when I played Vermintide 2 which too has m+k support, disconnecting doesn't happen at all.

On the other side of things, my build is the unstable overclock that massively increases damage at the expense of movement speed, I use the explosive option because it makes it burn through close packed swarms like butter. That combined with sticky flame makes it a very reliable high dps crowd clearer at the expense of sucking ammo if you're just picking off singles or flying hazards.
Overclock modules unlock after you prestige your first dwarf at (red) level 25, Laboratory, and offer significant changes to weapon function.
If anyone here wants to party up and go in some caves (no EDD) I should be free for most of the night. I don't mind playing with newer players.

The devs always update Steam first, because it's much quicker to find and patch issues there if there's any hotfixes needed. Because of Microsoft's certification process, it is slow to update our versions if there's any issues, so they wait until Steam is in a good place and then send the (usually) fully hotfixed update our way. This has typically resulted in our version getting the update about 2 weeks after the Steam version

@vast valley I'm not sure why you're experiencing what you are. I don't usually host (I usually play with a friend who hosts as I still occasionally crash in certain biomes), but the only lag I tend to notice is when someone joins the game; I get some pretty significant rubber banding. That said, I do have V-Sync on and I only have a 60hz refresh rate, so I never go above or below 60fps. Perhaps at higher framerates there's a more noticeable issue. That being said, the game currently seems to be functionally worse for some folks than others. For example, I have no issue connecting to and playing with friends and matchmaking, but plenty of folks report that they cannot play multiplayer at all as they cannot stay connected or sometimes even connect at all to friends or other players.
This and a bunch of other issues stem from the Unreal-Engine-to-UWP plug-in that was being used to build the Xbox and Windows Store versions being out-of-date and no longer maintained for newer versions of Unreal Engine. It caused many unpredictable and in some cases unreproduceable bugs, including the connection issues. The devs have completely removed the UWP framework (which up until recently games were required to use if they were to be available through the Windows Store) from the game, and replaced it with Microsoft's Playfab framework which is more modern and maintained. This major overhaul should fix many of the issues that currently affect the Xbox and Windows Store versions, and the update with the new framework has been submitted to Microsoft for certification and should hopefully be available to download soon

That’s probably not on the tables for now. Just making it playable is on the list as #1 and the developers had fun on livestream telling everyone that DRG in VR got some of them mention sickness with the demo they had at the office or get seasick at home 😂
Also DRG in VR would be 🤩 but that’s up to developers if they feel like it’s an option they would like to take but they did say it would be resource Intensive vs how many people they have right now.

@steep zodiac sometimes it's because there's something that doesn't follow some obscure guideline or something that might cause errors in old hardware or you might be using something that's outdated and need to be updated. It can be insignificant and it can be important. Often it means they stop the certification process, and you have to start over, since it's not been tested past the point of cert failing.

I would strongly argue against anyone who believed that GSG lacks talent. There is some top-notch game design in DRG. Nothing is ever perfect, but there are elements that really achieve exactly what they're going for and feel quite good. The sound design is fantastic. The soundtrack is solid. The teamwork gameplay is very enjoyable. Overall, the whole package is solid. You don't get there without talent. It sounds like your friend just wants to complain about nothing. That's fine, DRG won't be for everyone, and yes, there's issues that affect some folks pretty significantly right now, but I experience very few actual issues, and when things work the game is solid and good at what it sets out to do

I've noticed that if you walk into the textural glitch you can usually find the point where the texture is broken, beat at it with your pickaxe and then boom it's fixed.

@fervent garden It's a common bug on Xbox. It's caused by DirectX12, which Xbox is forced to use. It should be resolved in the next update. You can sometimes destroy the object that is causing the texture problem, but occasionally the object causing the trxture problem is a dwarf and then you can't do much besides quit or kick the dwarf that's exhibiting the texture problem
@short vine Yes, the new framework replaces the UWP framework that was no longer being adequately maintained for the newer versions of the Unreal Engine. It was tested and should improve the connection issues

It's a heck of an issue. Some folks are completely unaffected and I haven't been able to figure out exactly why. I have very few problems playing with two of my friends, one Xbox and one PC, but a third friend on PC cannot stay connected to us. It may be hardware related, or software related, or both. But the update should improve connections issues for everyone as well as improving performance

Update 32 was originally announced for this coming Thursday, Oct 8th on Steam, but has since been delayed a little. The Windows Store/Xbox version usually gets the update after the Steam version gets most/all of the hotfixes needed, which means the Windows Store/Xbox versions usually come out about 1 - 2 weeks after the Steam version, and I believe that's the plan for this update as well. So I'm anticipating Update 32 for Windows Store/Xbox at end of October or beginning of November if it isn't delayed too much on Steam

Pedro (he worked on the game) pinned this fix a while before that... - if all fails these are some steps that have worked before for some members of the community if you are having connection issues with Win10:
- Go to the Search bar in the bottom left
- Type in "Settings" and press "Home"
- Select the Gaming Category
- Select Xbox Networking
- Press "Check Again"
- Then Select "Fix It"
- Restart computer and then go back to the same screen, it may show that you aren't connected at first so press "Check Again" and it should give you a NAT Type and Connectivity

I have finally got my Teredo Address working. After days of trying to troubleshoot this, the answer has finally found its way to me.
If you have tried all the other methods that have been posted, try this.
First, check the status of your Teredo with the following command:

Every time I checked the status of my Teredo, I was greeted with only four lines. If your Teredo status check looks like this, then I may have the solution for you.
Press Windows Key + R
Type "services.msc" and hit OK.
Find the IP Helper service and double click it.
Set the Startup Type to Automatic and click the Start button. You can close this now.
Run CMD as admin (right click windows button and choose Command Prompt (Admin) ).
Use this command:
Netsh Int Teredo Show Stat
You should see more fields now. If your "State" field says "qualified" check your Xbox app and see if you have a Teredo Address (Xbox App > Settings Gear Icon > Network Tab).
I had one issue after doing this. My "Server Name" field started to mirror whatever was in the "Type" field. If your Server Name field does not match something like "win10.ipv6.microsoft.com" then use this command:
netsh interface teredo set state servername=win10.ipv6.microsoft.com
This fixed my issue and I hope it does for you as well.

No problem at all. It's much quicker to release the Steam version first, get community feedback, and hotfix it as necessary before sending the Xbox/Windows Store versions out to Microsoft for certification. The certification process significantly slows down how quick the devs can respond to issues, so they try to make sure most (at least all the major ones) are already taken care of before starting that process.
If they need to fix something in the Xbox/Windows Store versions, it can easily take a day or more from starting to work on the patch to it being released just to get one patch out, whereas Steam can be patched several times in as little as a few hours if need be (provided the problems are that quick to identify and patch, of course).
The way the devs do updates, the Xbox/Windows Store version usually gets the update (including most/all hotfixes) about 1 - 2 weeks after the Steam version is released. It can be a real exercise in patience waiting for it to finally arrive, but I do believe it's a smart way to do things given the situation. We get the version that's been banged on and patched up so we're mostly good to go (barring platform-specific issues due to UWP -- which should no longer be an issue as of the Xbox/Windows Store update [essentially Update31.5] that is currently trying to get certified and should arrive any day now)

Unfortunately a date isn't possible to give, because it's all dependent upon passing certification at this point. It hasn't been able to pass for about two weeks now, so the devs have to keep working on it and submit it again, and the process is taking longer since the new consoles are coming out soon

On another note, I said before DRG has issues with mouse and keyboard on xbox, turns out maybe xbox does? I got a USB 3.0 Hub, when mouse and keybaord are plugged in, it does the disconnecting issue quite frequently, maybe every 2 minutes or so but then even sooner after a while, I tried a different set up where I have controller and mouse plugged into the hub, now it happens far less but when it does happen, controller disconnects casuing controller disconnect pop up in supported games. Then I discovered having just the controller plugged into the hub that controller still randomly disconnects. So i have no idea what the issue is, my monitor can be a HUB too and still issues occur. XBOX just has issues with USB HUBS. I really wish they used 4 USB Ports instead of 3 on the consoles.

The framework update is completely dependent upon it passing certification, and there's no way to know when that will happen. Update 32 for Windows Store/Xbox is completely dependent upon the Steam version coming out and getting whatever hotfix(es) it might need, and then passing certification, and there's no way to know when those things will happen. There's no way to give an accurate date for either update. It's literally a "ready when they're ready" situation

Yep. It's a problem with Unreal Engine and DirectX 12. You can find the same problem on the Steam version if you force DirectX 12 as a launch parameter. Xbox automatically uses DirectX 12. The update that we are currently waiting on includes an update to Unreal Engine as well as the UWP framework being replaced with PlayFab to correct the connection issues many folks have been experiencing on both Xbox and Windows Store versions
The update we are waiting on was tested by the community as well as the devs, using Microsoft's Insider program. That channel is still available to read through to see how the testing went #xbox-insider-discussion

Yeah, I totally understand. Sometimes it's caused by something in the environment and if you destroy the offending object then the bug goes away. But sometimes it's caused by a dwarf, and then there's not really anything you can do, unfortunately

Can confirm what StoicMako say. There is a slight chance we can cut a little of the wait between the Steam and Xbox releases due to more time to find bugs during experimental, but no guarantee. Xbox, as opposed to Steam, has a few more hoops it needs to jump through, which is why it takes a bit longer as we can’t just push a button and it’s out.

Since it seems to be due to the way DirectX 12 was working on an older version of Unreal Engine, it shouldn't be a problem because the devs have updated the version of Unreal the game is using. Now, it's always possible that a newer version of Unreal has the problem again, and if the devs update Unreal to such a version, it's possible it could come back. But that seems highly unlikely

Complain to Microsoft then. They’re the reason updates take so long to deploy on Xbox and the windows store. The networking and dx12 fix has been under review for weeks now. U32 may take as long as well since the underlying reason for the delay is because of the impending next gen console release.
There’s only so much GSG can do for pushing updates to windows and Xbox. There is no nonsensical restriction when pushing updates to steam.

They're making something good, and they know we think it's good, and to see that there's folks who can't enjoy it has to be a miserable feeling. It's not a secret. They've been very open here in discord. I agree that discord is not going to reach everyone and that there is probably a better way to do things, but getting the news out is literally a full-time job at major studios, and GSG is a rather small studio

the xbox players dealt with freezing missions daily, lossing minerals due to glitches, finding strange cubes that still dont do anything.. lol... the first easter egg in the vent before the gravity button, THose people helped polish up a game that then released to extremely positive reviews on steam

Taking a break is never a bad thing. And while it's extremely frustrating that some people are unable to enjoy Deep Rock at the moment, there are a lot who still can. The issues are unpredictable and hard to replicate, and there's been no discernable rhyme or reason why it works fine for some, but not for everyone. So the devs did the only thing they could, and removed the existing framework of the game to replace it with a new one, and at the same time update the engine and improve the performance a bit. Stuff just takes time. In a month we should have the framework update, and possibly even the new Update 32 with the two new missions and all the other fun stuff. Your frustration is understandable and warranted, but the fix will be here literally any day now

About the community saying we’ve would have rolled out plans but it hasn’t happened yet; I told you just two weeks ago that we’d be working on getting the info to the Xbox crowd. That is still the plan, so chill. We’re very open about what we are doing, and Discord will always be our primary channel for information, and it’s been no secret neither here nor on other social media that we’ve been working on a better framework for Xbox.

At least the other half I say is true. I got a few friends back into DRG and now we are playing something else because I’ve hardly/never had lag spikes and colorblind mode now it happens right when I play first mission.
Honestly I’ve given this game a lot of hours but when it comes to a developer that’s new to the market and small team I’ve run out of patience and a lot of friends keep telling me that GSG has no real experience with dealing with Microsoft I tried my best to defend GSG but I’ve given up hope. Because they; don’t push out updates at the rate we do/are twice the size we are/delay updates on other platforms/haven’t had to replace the entire framework because a third party stopped updating it.
We’re very aware that it’s been a bumpy road, but the new framework solves a lot of the issues. We’ve also just hired a new guy to help out with the platforms, which will help things run smoothly once he gets into it. Game development is a pretty complicated thing to do, especially if you also have to adjust for the process of consoles submission. If we had to release simultaneously, we’d probably have to add a weeks or months to each release. This is currently the smoothest process, believe it or not.

I suggest playing DRG steam and Microsoft version then play both versions of Minecraft and you will see Minecraft bedrock edition is like Microsoft DRG version being left behind in features and bug fixes. Minecraft bedrock edition is called bug rock and right now I can call DRG Microsoft version almost unplayable with everything from weird color bugs to lagging out/disconnects which has gotten a lot worse for me and it was stable for about over 2 years
