Pardon me if this is a silly question, but how would I go about disabling voice chat on the windows store version of the game? I'm normally in an xbox chat with my friends even if we're not playing together and I just had someone point at that they could hear me talking to my friends and I felt real silly. I scoured the settings, but didn't see anything to set push to talk or just outright mute myself.

im testing the new insider build on xbox and ive noticed that it crashes whenever i hit the A button to continue and choose what profile you're on. however, if you wait 30-40 seconds before hitting continue, then sign in, you can get to the info/ current update screen. idk if this helps, but i did find it interesting

Devs, question. You say you cannot replicate the crash when you start the game, but are you launching into a already made character that has reached the space rig already and at least saved progress? I believe the crash only happens with brand new game as in no save file or anything so when the game starts, you go straight into the tutorial. So if the save file has already gotten to the space rig, delete the save file in order to start a fresh new game
It's like my character is already there, so no issues. My friends have gotten to the space rig by skipping the tutorial, but when they tried to join my from before, they crashed and the save file was not there so it made them if they could get past the initial crash, they had to start the tutorial again.
So yeah try deleting the save file and stuff then trying to launch the game. I'm going to test tonight

They've made major changes to the Windows Store and Xbox versions of the game to reduce/remove the cause of many unpredictable, un-reproduceable issues (connection/joining issues as well as others) that only affect those versions due to their being built with UWP. UWP has been replaced going forward, and because it's a major change the devs decided to try out an Insider build to fix any issues with it before going live with it. While this won't help you immediately with your connection issues, hopefully this overhaul will be good to go shortly and should make a difference in your connection issues
If this Insider project is deemed useful, the devs have said they may employ it again in a more SoT-style Insider in which new features/gameplay would be tested, similar to Steam's Experimental Branch

personally i would love to see them use the insider more.
there have been a few times in the past where there are some bugs that are exclusive to the xbox version and they dont get patched for a bit due to microsoft approval, so if those can get ironed out before release thats super good.

You're not wrong. I suspect the Insider thing took a bit to setup -- and the work to do so might not have been worth it previously (except maybe in hindsight) -- but now that it's in place it would make sense that it's easier to use going forward. Then it just becomes a matter of how useful it is in terms of results. Does it provide enough useful feedback to justify the time and effort it takes to ready full builds and submit them to Microsoft? If enough people participate and provide useful feedback, and if there's enough automated feedback, it will probably be used in at least some situations. Unfortunately Insider does not seem as quick and easy to update as Steam's branch system, so it may not be worth it just for feedback on features/content

Happens cus my theory is if you have a save for example play on pc first, it's fine to load the save on Xbox, but if you start a brand new save so in other words it makes you do the tutorial, you crash
Which is why I ask the Devs to delete save file and try loading up the game on Xbox to see if it crashed then. You may get through if you keep trying to launch the game over and over, once you do make it, do something to make the game save and it's fine then

I booted up my xbox yesterday for the first time in almost a year to try out the branch. No issue generating a profile or going through the tutorial aside from a minor bug. It could be many different factors.

Beta works better on PC to get to the tutorial but is having the crash issues only on Xbox (as far as I can tell)
But yeah if you are crashing, keep trying untill you get to the tutorial, skip it and do something like change appearance (maybe that causes a save action)

So it seems the crash is related to either the tutorial or the lack of a save. Digging up the code that enables the game to save or simply the process that the game uses to start the tutorial sounds like the best bet, but I have no coding experience whatsoever, so maybe theres something other than that that could cause it, but I think starting there might be a good idea. Again, no coding experience, just an idea the devs can try if they havent done so already

Starting yesterday, my brother and I have been unable to properly play a mission together or even get into the space rig. I'm on Windows 10 and he's on Xbox. It seems that every time I click on anything outside the game/alt tab on my PC it disconnects me from multiplayer. I also am unable to invite him to my game, he has to manually join, and when I join him my game crashes.
Is there a setting in windows that could be causing this? Or is us being on the same network the issue?

My experience with the beta is, the first time I launch it I get to the press y screen and then crash after pressing y. Every restart after that I crash after the main title screen and don’t reach the press y screen.

@crisp snow It is possible under normal circumstances that both systems being on the same network can cause issues with connecting It's hard to say that's most likely it right now since DRG is plagued with a whole bunch of issues (texture bugs, disconnects, problems joining, etc.) stemming from the UWP framework. The UWP framework has recently been replaced and the new version is currently being beta tested. When it is ready, many of the issues you and many others have experienced should be resolved.
In the meantime, you could set up port forwarding on your router (if you feel comfortable doing so), which might make things a bit better, but because of existing issues that might not make any difference.
Another thing to try is both of you completely rebooting PC and Xbox before launching the game. Occasionally when I click join or invite friend nothing happens and I need to reboot my PC for things to work. One thing to note, I am sometimes unable to join a friend if they've been in a mission or running the game for a while before I try to join, and they are usually unable to invite me when that happens. At that point, everyone should exit the game and relaunch it, and then it works. Once we're in together, as long as no one disconnects things will work fine for hours. All of that said, because of the current state of DRG, you may not have much luck even if you try everything I mentioned. At that point there's not much else to do except wait for the next update which will hopefully resolve a lot of these issues

No problem at all! Just so it's not a surprise and because it isn't mentioned much, any progress you make in the beta will not carry over to the live version. The beta and the live version are two separate games and two separate save files

However, since replacing the framework is such a huge change to how the game is made, the beta is understandably not in a good shape for most people. The devs are currently trying to get the beta to a playable state, but are not experiencing the crashing issues themselves so are having a hard time tracking down the cause of the crashes in order to make it playable. Once more people can try it out, it'll be easier to see the progress on the connection issues

So i uninstalled the game, any fixes for the “joining” but nothing happening issue? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times, i just want to play and the insider version wont even work properly 😦

@ember barn Unfortunately there's not much you can do at the moment. There's a few things to try, like if you're joining friends have everyone exit the game and relaunch, don't try joining until you're fully loaded into the game and can run around the space rig, and power cycle (reboot) your PC or Xbox (also have any friends you're trying to play with do this too if possible). If those steps don't work, then the only thing left is to wait until the next update.
The version that's in Insider should fix a lot of these issues, but unfortunately the devs are having a hard time getting the Insider version to work for everyone. It doesn't crash when they test it, but it crashes for a lot of players who are trying to test it. Since the devs can't make it crash for them, it's proving difficult to track down the cause of the crashes and fix it. Once Insider is stable, hopefully testing all the current live issues will go quickly

Ive been very supportive of the devs, bought every DLC and i feel like they never really acknowledge this issue and the few people that still have it, again, thank you for the tips, my Xbox game works good its just my PC that just wont let me join any game. No problem! Haha, I spend too much time here. Most of the communication from the devs on these issues is happening in this channel, but it's incredibly easy to miss. Some of it has been pinned (push pin icon at the top of discord), but otherwise it's easy to miss what the devs have been able to tell us. That's why I try to offer some answers, even when they're not terribly helpful, because something is better than nothing.
So most of the issues are caused by the UWP framework the devs had to use (Microsoft used to require any title on the Windows Store use UWP). Continuing to use UWP led to unpredictable and hard-to-reproduce issues that couldn't be fixed well by workarounds and band-aid fixes, so the devs have completely removed and replaced the UWP framework with another (Playfab, if I recall correctly). So a cause of a lot of the problems is removed, and they've also been able to update the engine the game is built with which should lead to other improvements as well.
The trouble is it's a major change, and it's causing other issues. Once those are worked out, things should get a lot better. Unfortunately and frustratingly, it just takes time. And that time is artificially inflated by Microsoft's update approval process which means every time the devs put out an update to test, they have to wait at least 5 - 6 hours before players can test if the fixes work. It slows everything way down.
And I don't think anyone has been able to come up with an answer for why the PC version works for some people but not for others, which has been frustrating because there has to be some kind of reason/pattern, but I certainly haven't been able to determine one. It's possible it's hardware related. Anyway, it's a moot point once the Insider build is working and goes live

I may have solidly fixed my connection issues when connecting from MS PC to Xbox One friends.
It was the Teredo driver that was just refusing to work and after muuuuch digging I found a nice walk through that helped me activate it again.
Sorry if this is a bit spammy/text wall ish but if anybody else is having this issue then I hope it helps:

I have finally got my Teredo Address working. After days of trying to troubleshoot this, the answer has finally found its way to me.
If you have tried all the other methods that have been posted, try this.
First, check the status of your Teredo with the following command:
Netsh Int Teredo Show Stat
Every time I checked the status of my Teredo, I was greeted with only four lines. If your Teredo status check looks like this, then I may have the solution for you.
Press Windows Key + R
Type "services.msc" and hit OK.
Find the IP Helper service and double click it.
Set the Startup Type to Automatic and click the Start button. You can close this now.
Run CMD as admin (right click windows button and choose Command Prompt (Admin) ).
Use this command:
Netsh Int Teredo Show Stat
You should see more fields now. If your "State" field says "qualified" check your Xbox app and see if you have a Teredo Address (Xbox App > Settings Gear Icon > Network Tab).
I had one issue after doing this. My "Server Name" field started to mirror whatever was in the "Type" field. If your Server Name field does not match something like "win10.ipv6.microsoft.com" then use this command:
netsh interface teredo set state servername=win10.ipv6.microsoft.com
This fixed my issue and I hope it does for you as well.""
