Just as an aside for the windows crashing issues I've been having. I used a pair of Xbox headphones through the controller audio jack and had no crashes over a 3 hour period. I've heard other people might have had issues with Razer Nari and its headphone drivers

Ugh, guys I pretty much haven't been able to play for a whole month despite playing nearly every day for over a year plus.

The FPS stutter is so bad, even when on performance graphics. The series s optimizations really botched things up. Really hoping that any sort of fix, or even rollback is coming down the pipeline.

It's not even that I'm being picky about something like poor graphics, it's literally headache causing if you play too long.

You're probably right--I set the limit to 120 in Nvidia because it was maxing out, especially in sandblasted caverns

At this point, I turn off anything Razer, Discord, verify and repair the game, run as administrator, and hope for the best. If I get a UE4 crash, I restart and try again. Not sure there's much else to do here, outside of interrogate my own system. No other games I play have this issue, but this might be the only one running UE4.

Honestly everything that’s happening with Xbox build happened to me with astroneer in early access and the company said they would hire more testers just for windows/Xbox build and I checked on website and they hired more and the game improved a lot and I enjoyed the game until I beat it.

Of course astroneer doesn’t have a good way to make money because everyone I talk to doesn’t buy in game items so GSG could hire 1 or 2 people to test windows/Xbox specifically and maybe raise DLC price up by 1 dollar once performance is on par or better with steam and that could justify the dollar increase in DLC price

I base my dlc buying on 2 things only and they are 1. Does DLC look great and 2. Does the game run smoothly to justify buying DLC and that’s why I chose not to buy season 2 DLC

The performance mode works fairly well on the Xbox S which I own. The manual and fidelity modes seemed to take a toll on the smoothness of the game.

Yeah, it's a mystery to me what will assist this game in running well on any given session.

There are times I can game for 3 hours with no issues

There are other times when I crash with a UE4 error (Windows Store)

From the feedback I've gotten on this form, it's a Windows or Razer issue, though I think that might be an admission that their not sure what's causing it

Reddit and Steam talk plenty of these sorts of crashes, but I haven't found anything that's consistently prevented the crashes from happening--and they are limited to DRG, not other games I play.

So, every session is a bit of a ritual of superstition (closing razer, discord, repairing game files, running as administrator) and hoping it doesn't crash

The dumps I've provided are not helpful, I am told

I wont pretend to be in the developer space and I appreciate the hard work they do--it's just frustrating to not be able to pinpoint and fix the issue with any precision on the user end.

also i read this as well, Why not swap out the internal SSD itself? That would indeed be the more PC-ish thing to do. But the M.2 2230 SSDs that fit the Steam Deck are neither easy to find nor much cheaper than equivalently sized microSDs, and if you mod the handheld to accept larger SSD form factors, a Valve employee might come and tell you off.

Yes, the DLCs are platform-specific. You might still be wearing any DLC cosmetics that were equipped when you transferred the save, but you would not be able to select DLC cosmetics you do not own on the platform you're currently playing on

I needed to do the subscription AGAIN, they had all my saves and info on their xbox cloud servers, so if you can´t find the "coffeestainstudios.deeprockgalactic", you need to resubscribe on xbox pass pc and log in to the game again at least once and it will create the folder inside the "packages". So you will be able to do appdata > local > "CoffeeStainStudios.DeepRockGalactic"

maybe someone of the mods should pin this because it´s such a bizarre problem that not many people have encountered online (luckily)

App ran fine, managed to install steam, could install drg if i wanted, but after i installed the xbox app i found that they lock out you accessing certain parts of the app if they don't think your hardware can run it

These devs do listen to the community. And pretty well, at that; you can find them in these channels trying to troubleshoot issues and find fixes, but it's only when they have the time to do so. They're a small team, but they're very serious about making a good game and fixing issues.
The thing is not everyone will always agree on every change, and you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try.
As for bugs, if they can't reproduce it, it becomes much, much harder (if not impossible) to fix. How can someone find the cause of a bug if the bug does not seem to exist no matter what they try on their end? Communication from the people experiencing things can help, but even then it doesn't always work out as hoped.
I can understand your frustration, and if you've never seen the devs in these channels working with people who are having issues, I can understand why you might feel as you do. But my experience for years now is these devs always do as much as they can to make things as right as possible. You can be disappointed with the outcome, or disagree with the outcome, but you can also be sure the devs did everything they can to address issues (even if it takes longer than you might like...)

For crashes they can’t reproduce but I can reproduce them I analyze the crash dump and then they know aka season 2 crash was prime example

Look, I get that you lose a lot of content going back, but I have had my game capped at 30fps on the xbox one x since season 2.
The game skips for 2 seconds then comes back 3-5 times a mission.
I still have my setting reset every 2 missions.
My save file is boinked on alot of the stat numbers.
I get more random disconnects now that I ever did before.
There is a bug where your audio just cuts out if you open settings and go over to the dlc video and exit the pause menu...
Sometimes my game won't let me send or join invites even though I have gamepass ultimate.
Sometimes the game doesn't let you invite players, but you can make it public and they can find you on the list
Random screen drift when walking forwards or backwards but doesn't affect you when standing still or side to side so it's not controller drift.
Sometimes when picking up a drink at bar your camera gets lock spinning to the right or left while looking all the way up or down
Sometime while being the host of a game you can pour 300 mini gun rounds into a grunt for it to not die visually until 3-6 seconds later.
The og dreadnought still has a speed bug with its charge then slam move, (different from its regular slam move), where it can gain inf speed, legit had neurotoxin, sludge on and below, slow from shard and slow from Turret arc, and slow from the sticky flames down and it just basically went mach 10 out of all of it and slammed my team mate.
Bug where if your dancing it keeps you in first person, another bug where you are on the dance floor and it puts you in third person but won't let you dance.
Bug with robots where if they are in a cave that's 2 big and use thier ground slam then roll attack it will float while trying to hack it.
Issues with the game not giving cosmetics when you complete the assignment (beer mug hat)
And then also still have bugs where physics engine launches you across map at Mach 10 and you die from fall damage

I would trade all of these for the old 1080p 60 fps little bit buggy update 34

New weapons+grenades aren't worth not being able to have fun with the game because you are unable to see it fluidly, and settings keep reseting on you. I have my settings memorized at this point, it makes it hard for someone who is working 2 jobs to pay rent actually find this game enjoyable.

well ive been trying my best to annoy i mean let devs know about adding at least FSR to both series consoles and OG xbox one and that would help with FPS esp capped at 30 to maybe capped at 60 FPS and if dev would add Max FPS limit like they did on steam and windows build to xbox it would help out by sliding FPS limit to cap out at 60 FPS

they are still a small team that dont wanna explode team too much and burn thru the money they have right now, they wanna slowly expand team while still staying above water which DRG doesnt have right now water lol

It's not out of date. Season 3 releases on the Microsoft Store/Game Pass/Xbox on November 17th. Steam usually gets updates first because of how easy it is to release an update (and any necessary hotfixes) on Steam. The console makers require certifications for updates (which generally only take a few hours to process), and this means the devs can't rapidly respond if they accidently push out a broken update, so they often take a few weeks to make sure Steam is stable and work on getting the other versions all set to go live

On a separate note @regal breach , I experienced a bug after that crash that involved setting up the liquid morkite pipes: when the game crashed, I was mid build, the pipe section was blue, and I came back to the game. The blue pipe plan was still there, there was some kind of crate on the floor that we could pick up and deposit (not error cube), but neither of us could finish the pipe, so we had to abort.

Sorry probably did not described properly. On Steam Deck you have option of using Steam or Proton and you can teoreticaly run Windows Store version of DRG, but it will not run as smooth as steam version.

So I was interested if there is some migration path or you will be stuck with Win version because this is Win version chat 🙂

Sorry if this has been brought up many times at this point. I have searched through the messages in this channel and seen there has been some back and forth between the players and devs about performance on the series S. Can anyone give me a TLDR on what the current status is with this? From my browsing it seems they can't replicate the massive performance hits? That's kind of insane to me as I jumped back onto my series S just now (been playing on my laptop for the past month) and it's still shockingly bad

dipping to mid 30's in haz 4 swarms, any sort of blizzard/sandstorm etc, fast movements like using a grapple on scout. All of these things absolutely tank my frames and it's so easy replicate. On my laptop which is nowhere near as powerful as my series S I have no problem having stable 60fps at high/ultra at 1080p

Flame bolts 13111 great for speedrunning, and crowd control :) if you toss a fire bolt into a praet then a pheromone bolt all the bug will attack the preat, and be lit on fire. 2 bolts for a whole crowd :)

So if the update doesn't take 2 weeks to verify by Microsoft, why is there such a wide time frame between the 2 versions? Do they have to reprogram every patch an update for platforms other than steam?

The long answer is:
The devs are a relatively small team, developing every version in-house themselves. It's not that that work is harder, there's just a lot of it.

For the Steam version, the devs can simply release whenever they want and it's pretty much instantly available. It doesn't work this way with the console versions; they have to go through their respective platforms (Sony, Microsoft) for release. This slows down the release a little, but usually by only a few minutes or occasionally a few hours, but ultimately it's out of the devs hands once they submit the update to Sony/Microsoft.
If the update is particularly buggy or broken, it could be hours or days before a patch can be released on the consoles, and if that doesn't fix the problem(s) even longer to get a working version out, but on Steam the devs can get patches out literally as fast as they can make them without having to wait on anyone else.

So, the devs work on the major additions and changes that go into all the versions, then when those are ready they get the Steam update done and out and let Steam players be the lab rats. There shouldn't be too many issues, so then the devs give themselves two weeks to get the console versions ready to go, and they add in any fixes or changes that might be needed from what they found when players played the Steam version.

We get a more polished version of the update when it finally releases to console, and the devs get a decent, sustainable workflow for their team size.

It's win-win, really.

There has been plenty official: as soon as possible on the 17th. So sometime after the devs get into the office, send out the update to Microsoft, and Microsoft processes it for distribution
