Ok so in the RPG-7 itself (particular kind of rocket launcher) it's first the booster that ignites that launches the rocket out of the launcher, then the sustainer that sends it flying the rest of the distance.

The thing that goes boom is the warhead (the thing in the front that contains the actual explosive.

Even comes with fins to help stabilize its flight.

If I had to guess, there's a pin that ignites the booster charge, launching it out of the rocket and into the air in the first place, which then ignites/starts up the sustainer motor which sends it the rest of the way.

Of course, that's just a guess.
