Where you go depends on where the camera is facing when you first do the move.

So if you're facing to the right of your opponent and do your 1, you can quickly turn to face them but dash to the side.

Same goes for your 2's air variant.

Its so confusing to think about. Game has no clear explanation of what defines start or end of an duel, when you start playing an dueling match with another player with both sides consent to play, turn 1 begins which then goes to standby phase of player who goes first. And the end of duel is also not determined. If someones lifepoints reaches 0 from whoever reason, they lose and match ends instantly, but some cards like Victory Dragon activate its effect AFTER duel is officially over and carries on its effect to the next duel.

Also conceding an match actually effect how match interact because if someone concedes, other side may declared an winner but technically duel didn't resolved, it is halted, which prevents victory dragon from triggering by saying "Nope! I surrender before your Victory Dragon effect resolves" and bam. You just changed the fabric of universe by saying an word, outside the universe

Its gonna sound strange but, over an decade nothing bad happened. Because turns out when your home next door is an historical place of conflict, both sides dont want it happen again so if everyones at danger and careful, nobody is. So its suprisingly safe
