Oh and there were only a set amount of the aircraft available, the army and navy fought over them as well 😛 both claiming to need them more.

for realism a Mil 26 would probably the best pick, 20 ton lift limit. it can carry small airliners! Still not enough for the largest creatures in JWE, but it's literally the heaviest cargo lift helicopter that currently exists.

funny thing is that crazy lysander is in someways the progenetor of the helicopter gunship! it was built to repel a German invasion during the battle of Britain. the idea being it'd fly up and down the invasion beaches while the tail gunner shot up enemy troops on the ground.
