the general timeline im envisioning is humanity spreads out across the stars. not very far but a comfortable handful of systems. the system in question would be a sacrificial one. a planet rich in material resources but low habitability is chosen as the site for a colony that coupled with a mining industry would begin producing parts to facilitate the construction of a dysonsphere around its parent star. this alone would take hundreds of generations.

over time as more and more industry it built up. and more of the sun is blocked out by the sphere. the planet becomes a more and more brutal place to live. constant darkness. plummeting tempratures. smog clouds that block out what little light they recieve. the people there retreat into deep underground habitats made from the mines dug out for material for the sphere long ago

more or less the idea is to have a rock, mountian like structure in the back corner. With a water intake at the bottom. Behind the structure it will pump the water to the top and through some filter medium. I want to put some house plants growing at the top and some plants partially emeresed along the sides

so the filter will be a water fall
