Ping becomes annoying at above 150ms, most people adapt their playstyle to suit like for instance running scout above 200ms is really difficult but running Gunner isn't to bad. More so glitching and rubber banding across the map. Its annoying but doable depending on which class you run and how bad your ping is. I thought I would explain to help you out.

understand the timing of the kick for a few of the speeds, if it starts going too fast (the fastest speed) there's not enough time to consistently kick it in after you landed a shot in so just wait for the speed to reset
it's always better to kick it in rather than go for a risky kick
