#rogue-core-chat

Even when this game releases I am still going to play the og DRG. Hopefully there will still be a good amount of miners in DRG after Rouge core comes out. :)
so does the space rig 17 dwarves and the reclaimer dwarves know of eachother at all?
Those core dwarves are gnomes.
what?? thats bollocks
Deep Rock Galactic™ would never
also man.. i kinda liked the older models better, to be honest with you
Can we still get alcohol poisoning
yeah
10/10
The real questions
probably
unknown
i checked, they do
Yeah they say for karl
In cosmetic crates right now
Same for Spotter’s and Retcon’s goggles
after years of waiting for rogue core, finally. omg
oh yeah are rogue core gunskins and cosmetics available in main DRG at all
No
I don’t even think there’s plans for Rogue Core to get weapon skins at all in fact
I like rogue core because it takes my two favourite things together the challenge and suprise of deep dives and the replayability of rogue games
you are probably misunderstanding me
im not asking for weapon skins in rogue core
im asking for weapons skins based on rogue core weapons in main DRG
you know the stripes and all?
No, you cannot get the paintjobs in DRG as of now
ait
i wonder if the TH-OR will be an obtainable weapon in this one, it would be about time!
The survivor gun?
VERY unlikely
There’s a similar kind of electric blaster
I mean, yes. I guess, shock striker counts
Nah a new class if their adding one really should be for ea launch - unless it really needs testing lol
.
So are dual flame throwers confirmed yet
Nope
damn
all the early alpha signers who never got a key are pumped asf rn lol
i thik itd be great if some of the survivor-exclusive weaponry such as the TH-OR or the turrets like the krakatoa would appear in either DRG or RC
and also vice versa, roguecore-exclusive weaponry in other games...
I got a key and im still excited because now i can drag my friends and wife in
Unlikely they'll appear in DRG. RC? Also, but I guess the chances are higher there
well, someones gonna mod those in eventually right
never ended up getting a key, and my friends call DRG shit for some reason so i have nobody to play it with lol
HUH
Keep in mind a lot of these things are being designed for their respective games specifically
Do you type at lightspeed?
Thor sounds less fun outside of survivor tbh. Presumably doesn’t hit weakpoints, and a lot of the damage is from arcing. It kinda sounds like a less satisfying stubby
It’s not always so easy to translate
yes, this is what i took to mind
ofcourse, the guns are also there to keep the respective game unique
but its undoubtedly fun to get the chance to play these games in the environments of different games
maybe if even they werent explicitly designed for it
etc
Its still fun solo but can be hard to win - atleast from my experience and not looking up broken stuff or proper builds etc
oh yea, its why i love this game so much. publics are so chill, so i dont mind playing alone. i have 400 hours racked up solely from public queueing
Publics are fire yeah
everything is obviously more fun with friends though
yeah, but in this case in particular i just knew what you were going to say.
Im too self concious unless i have a buddy with me i dont touch publics, and any game with team play i either mute everyone or wait for a safety buddy
lol publics are very chill, you get the occasional weirdo but thats about it
I dont need some basement dweller or my own brain poisoning one of my escapes for myself
I’m gonna be very interested to see how the meta develops around this game, I can’t think of many multiplayer roguelites where everyone has to negotiate from a shared pool of upgrades like this
The ones I’ve played characters tend to come pre-equipped with their weapons, like in Risk of Rain 2
i really like the detail how the weapons returning from DRG into DRGRC have their own specific frameworks as defaults rather than the ones were familiar with
wonder if we are gonna get those as cosmetics in DRG
I need rogue core yesteryear
They're using an already existing framework from regular DRG
For me since i only play in small groups its gonna be one of two ways, either the wife giving me all the big shiny stuff or my friend taking the main piece for the build he told me to go because something somehow is unfair - and even when he gets his way i still messed it up somehow
I think it's random or per-gun
this may be the greatest core rogue ever
Some of the returning weapons are just placeholders too, we saw in the last stream that the Lark went from being a Subata to a brand new model
right after exam season too
it is? which was it, mega corp? something of the sort
It was bound to happen from the start
it was
What?
Indeed
i wonder how much of the content we saw so far will not make it into this release, because its not finished/polished etc
Not what I meant. The gun was named lark since Alpha 1
yeah i know that
Just early access things
Not you, cherkov
ok
Yeah for sure
And yes, megacorp
of what they showed actual gameplay of, most
i thought so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I like Rogue Core’s weapons so far, but I’m definitely hoping to see some more unique types in the future, so far the majority are your average firearms
Which is certainly needed as a baseline ofc
I mean, bare bones firearms is pretty standard in fps roguelite/likes
Cause synergies and upgrades make them unique
i dont like how the "heavy weapon crate" is handled in current alpha builds
A lot of new guns are also barebones, just some aspects are... ridiculously high
theres only 5 things that can show up so its not as exciting as the weapon crates used to be
Yeah we definitely need more heavy weapons
all of which are drg guns, 3 being gunner primaries
Im not in the closed alpha so what's it like
The new sniper is probably the best example, somewhat average, past the high recoil and firerate
😭
i think the other issue with the "heavy weapons create" is that oftentimes not all players want to build around heavy weapons
Sure, but the upgrades are your standard damage and magazine increases for the most part
Kinda fun to play around the gun's quirks
Oh
Also, elemental damage
Please more wacky shit i beg
is there a pre-mission hub area for rogue core like DRG or is it always drop into action, i forget
there was a wip thing wasnt there
There is wacky shit
used to be a lot more exciting when say, one minigun showed up and the rest were normal sized weapons, meant there was a choice over who got it
I’m not saying it as a criticism since it’s not even in early access yet
hub
Devastator has an upgrade that lets you shoot without reloading
Pray tell
You have a ship called the Ramrod
And it’s massive
Directly feeds the gun from the ammo pool
yeah the Ramrod, that is the hub area right
Some OCs made a comeback too
not as big as the space rig in overall size but theres a lot to explore
Like return to sender
Yay!
Probably more coming, which is good
Is there a good amount of variety so far?
Of? Gun upgrades?
my one nitpick with the ramrod are the inconsistent distances of the spacerig and hoxxes between the 2 games
Like builds and upgrade paths
oh man i was actually wondering about this
in full honesty im looking forward to rogue core ngl, im a sucker for good roguelikes or BAMlikes, exhausted all the good ones, this seems like a match made in heaven, need to get my friends to play it with me via monetarily-driven obligation surely
There aren't any upgrade paths
It gets repetitive faster than DRG does right now but the gameplay loop at its core is fun
Builds do exist though
Aren't the depths dependent on the biome and mission type?
No, separate
I agree from a solo player experience as my runs atleast in my limited experience feel vastly different based on finding a heavy weapon or not
Depths are the hazard level
no im talking about the background you see from the ramrod
OH
I meant like in drg
Could be i just need more skill points to make up for lack of team and the heavy weapon is carrying the difference , or its the same and its the gun carrying for my lack of synergy
like I want the excitement back of finding a minigun or PGL
now theres only one way to get it and its too consistent
Is pgl good in rc?
yes it is good

PGL is the best heavy weapon so far in my experience
I think just in general finding weapons was more exciting in earlier alpha builds
Still good without it, but that full auto...
Finally, pgl goated
I will say though I wish they’d give everyone a flare gun
Nobody in my lobbies wants to pick the flare gun
I feel like everybody is sleeping on the breach cutter in this alpha ngl
Whoever gets stuck with it feels like they’re at a disadvantage
Just like pre buff breach in drg
😭
Where have i seen this before
Slicer is the only class with decent movement to make the flare gun work
But, also... the drills are better for him
Give all reclaimers a little pocket flare pistol, that’s my hot take
they really need to expand the loot pool of the weapon crate
yeah everyone in the alpha figured out pretty quick that the flare gun is weak in Rogue Core
I’m sure that’s what the early access period will be for, adding more stuff now that the basic gameplay loop is complete
I remember there being a dev weapon in that crate once lol
especially since expenite, the only mineral youre really hunting for, glows
And caves are so much smaller
i dont mind the flare gun sucking, it actually adds to the different atmosphere of the 2 games, but still need something in its place
Cause the flare gun in drg is actually really good
theres only 5 support tools you can get at the start of a run, and admittedly, the one new one is really good
I had the idea once to combine the flare and zipline gun into one
New one?
anti-gravity projector
Press reload to swap between flares and ziplines
Vertical movement
Wait wtf thats so cool
This thing is busted btw
tbf i dont think we need to buff the zipline more
It’s so useful in firefights
Zipline got buffs??????
Eh true, they did make ziplines better
Faster movement speed
zipline and anti-grav are easily the best starting support tools in the game
Zipline didnt need buffs from base drg tho??
I would argue drills reign supreme tbh
Ig context is different
RC has a timer
no, ziplines are buffed to better fit the pace of rogue core
It does need it here
for me drills strike a middle ground of utility and carrying an extra weapon
That makes a lotta sense actually
I was forced to use RtS in RC.
Slicer o'clock
basically the zips are noticably faster and can carry a lot more ammo
Im guessing because of the timer hunkering down and doing holds isnt as strong of a strat?
plats also automatically come with the Mk2 plascrete upgrade from DRG no matter what
still not sure if im gonna get rogue core or not. wanted to try it out in the closed alpha but i never got added to it ._.
Holds are still powerful
yeah you need to keep pace
Not during the bossfights though
Hype
holds are good, just a time and a place
Instead of being the correct way to play some classes (engi)
once a single swarm ends you typically get moving again
I do really miss repellant platforms but with how mobile core spawn are I suppose it wouldn’t change as much
i mean you still can get repellant plats, but only by chance
Oh???
but yeah i really like the timer mechanic, it makes it feel a lot different from DRG
Huh, I’ve never seen them
and tbf its needed so that you cant just spend an hour per stage clearing everything, having to manage your time makes the game more engaging
Do the different reclaimers feel uniquely strong like the drg dwarves or fo they feel samey cause they can all use the same guns technically
it also helps that the point at which the next swarm will occur is also shown on the timer, so you are able to mentally prepare for it
Reclaimer abilities change a lot
no they feel very different
Oh hell yeah
I mean... retcon cough
I hope they add the ability to make custom bio booster decks before EA
the main thing to note is that almost everything that seperates reclaimers from each other are on cooldowns instead of an ammo pool like every other power you gain in a run not tied to a class
She's too powerful kinda
Didn’t they nerf her
Ohhh interesting
Uhh, don't think so?
I think they mentioned on stream she’s been nerfed
Is the falconeer good
Oh that's awesome
the added ability to remotely revive teammates is a mega buff
Wait thats insane
though in the current alpha build theres a bug that makes it only work in the first stage
I thought my favorite would be Falconer but it wound up being Slicer
really hope they dont somehow forget to fix that for alpha 6
He encourages you to make melee builds
Spotter, but slicer comes real close
There’s a mechanic where hitting enemies with your pickaxe makes it swing really fast
The tremor guy gave like, moving gunner shield vibes when I saw him at first
He’s the tank certainly
Slicer is very forward facing aggressive, Retcon is aggressive in bursts, Flaconeer is tactical with a lot of reach, Spotter is tactical in terms of target management, and Guardian is good at standing ground
Can push enemies away, drop an AOE that makes armor recharge and has a kind of mediocre short range attack
yes, but it doesnt stop projectiles
Yeah I saw that
Oh yeah, this game has armor instead of a shield so you have to be much more aware of enemies
A single hit is now permanent damage, there’s no grace recharge like a shield
its also where builds get interesting
like upgrades that revolve around being near teammates, are often really good to be given to guardian, since he does that a lot anyway
Okay, so scorcher...
They come in packs
There’s less enemies in general right now but ranged enemies continue to be menaces
More despicable???
They are... in packs
I’m glad they’re nerfing the surveyor rocket drones lol
Fast too
also really fucking loud
😭
Camera flashbangs...
oh i remember those
Cool design and idea
Quick question from the gameplay I see facloner seems to be kinda basic in the abilities department and i want an opinion from someone who played as her, So is she fun to play?
falconer is prob my fav
yes she probably just takes a bit of getting used to
the bird can get pretty strong, but she's got some really nice bios
Falconer’s deal is that the Falcon is an autonomous drone
You send it out and it does its own thing
she essentially has the longest reach of all the reclaimers due to the drone
free leech clearing
So kinda like shredders
i made a meme about the falcon and the leech
do we have a price tag for rogue core yet?
prolly similar to DRG
hello everyone, just wanted to ask what's the base price for Rogue core
If you had one big shredder on a cooldown, yeah
Who knows
wanna see the meme I made about it?
hit me with that link
it would be so sad to wait so long and my friends not want to buy it because its expensive
We can guess, only. Most people say the same as DRG
Devs have said expect it to be around the level of DRG, I think 25€ is a fair estimate
i'd like to see it at $20-25
pinged you in the gallery chat
With a price hike once it leaves early access
hmmm I think it would be more, not that I'm against it, I got more time on drg than any aaa I've played
i doubt that it'll be more than DRG, if it is it defeintley wont be by much
Slightly more isn't out of reach
2018 was a different time
very nice. i almost felt bad for a leech for a split second 😆
i hate leeches so much (in a good way)
i'm glad they're staying
I like to send out the bird and say "go my shitfuck" and watch as it kills 3 leeches I didnt know were there
it also hard counters the boomtick spawner
someone got the game from the early acess?
scanning ahead with birb is nice utility
Wdym
I’m not a fan of leeches since unlike in DRG here you’re really encouraged to rush though caves
she gets the leeches and slammy boys down
No, we have the beta
it the falconeer gets LOS on the spawner and the bird is ready, its pretty much guarenteed to die in the next few seconds
It's coming out on 20th of may, if that's what you meant
playtest
Uh, 4 of us
Playtest version is a separate game. So, we'll have to buy it anyway
i like them, it makes you pay attention to the roof
theres also the benefit of being able to clear them from and area and be safe
also gives the bird more utility
oo this seems fun to play
I think different enemy types could do that better, leeches are just overly punishing IMO. Especially when there’s zero way to break free by yourself if you do get grabbed
i need to play more drg but i just can't because having no friends to playwith kinda sucks
I know they’re not going anywhere but they’re one of the few things I actively dislike
cooper is somewhat better at rescuing you at least
so i really only played scout
Anothe question is the potato Canon good?
with mods he can kill them pretty quickly
Absolutely
(What's a potato cannon?)
Hammer Caster or something
Oh
hammer is pretty meaty yeah
Yeah, just lacks ammo often
Hammer caster is cool but needs either more damage or more ammo
It’s kind of like the LOK in that way
also needs to show up more often
none yet
We don’t know
No clue
well i’d thank that’d be important information what are the devs thinking
will more ppl be able to play the playtest?
It might get announced closer to release
also id like to see more uncommon disruptive enemies, the one that makes you think "oh shit" when you realise theyve shown up
There’s one more round coming
there's another one planned, they'll let more in
News next week
tbh may will be here before we know it, so anyone who doesn't get in won't be waiting long anyway
like how when a bulk shows up in DRG, that feeling is generally absent from RC
I hate the passage of time!
this comes out 2 days after fh6 does damn
In general Rogue Core feels like a complete experience, but it just needs more
i love how it gets faster with age! 😔 😔 🤗
the game just like to spawn the rafkans in groups
this seems fun to play but im more hyped over fh6 lol
okay imma go back to not chatting
Is it weird that I want to eat a rafkan like a sandwich? Like they look delicious
anytime anyone asks "is it weird..." yes, it's weird
Maybe this time its not
It is
A cool thing about Rogue Core’s balancing is that you get to use DRG secondary weapons like the Boomstick and bulldog as your primary
Anyone know about how the weapon picking works in multiplayer? I havent played the tests but I did see a couple clips where multiple people can take your weapon you might want. Is there anything being discussed to help with this?
ultimate teamwork exercise
You can favourite a weapon to notify the others
Also talking
That's it
I mean i guess that might work
you can't lock anything from others
also the order of picking changes
is this vibe gaming
I guess so, if you're fast...
You can just snatch and not feel anything about it
Yes
I can't wait to play with my friends who i feel will steal everything like rabid animals
is the prize confirmed or supposed in any way?
Nope
yes, but I also meant that whoever gets to pick first, second, etc, changes each time
but ultimately you want to communicate and decide who needs what the most
rogue core chatbox is gonna get used 😱
Thats cool I also enjoy that feature
will rogue core be playable for the steam deck
Can you use the chat box while upgrading
Yes!
"I have refund ammo on crit, gibe crit"
I imagine you should
Idk if it'll be official, but you can
yeh, the box is there. you can see people's cursors move around, and there's a heart for favoriting as mentioned above
Ok
unless you're deliberately ignoring people, you'll have an idea of who needs what
gonna put this community to the test, that's for sure
You communicate with each other. It’s called a negotiation for a reason
The person who gets to pick first changes with each negotiation
But yeah be prepared to not always get what you want especially when playing with randoms
Omg may 20? A week before my birthday!
rogue core tomorrow
are there female dwarves in the Rogue Core trailer or have I lost my mind?
around 0:17 seconds in the release date trailer on YT
Yes
Falconeer is
I finally have representation as a woman rahhh
Any post on the cost for Rouge Core?
No there are AAAA games
Many follow in my wake
im still hoping for playtest 06
im justa silksong fan idk about u
i honestly don't know how i still haven't gotten access
i was signed up basically since day 1
Do we have an idea of how high the system requirements of RC will be? I have an old laptop 😭
Higher than regular DRG
There's also system specs on the steam page
gtx 970, not anything crazy but it depends on ur laptop
My laptop has RTX 2050 so hopefully it runs
that's more than enough tbh
also a 7th gen intel+ or ryzen 1500+
Lemme check the complete specs
it also depends how much space u got left, the storage wasn't anything crazy but it's best if u save a little extra space for games
it should be fine
I run drg on max settings 120~ frames with a 2070
rc should be around the same level
It has RTX 2050, processor is AMD Ryzen 5 5500H and storage is not a problem
ngl laptop 50 models (i.e/ 2050/3050) perform a lot better than ppl might expect lol
I am so glad their games are well optimized and don't need high specs
Plus they're so much cheaper lol
true, drg being only 4gb on size is mindblowing to me
not having a bajillion textures and just reusing the few with different colors does even more wonder
Whens rouge core gonna be available for Xbox
unknown
What's rouge core
I dont even know man
But im about fed up with these stupid scarabs
do we know how much rouge core will cost?
no official word yet
probably about the same price as drg is, though nothing was said 'bout it yet
i just saw the trailer and realize is true we getting female dwarf ? because one of the trailer shot seem to show that
Hey earl idk what I'm missing what's this rouge core everyone's talking
New DRG game coming out in Early Access in May
Roguelite, DRG style
tons of pins with info in here
I thought that was rogue core. Is rouge core like a Chinese knockoff
Interesting
Does anybody know if rogue core is coming to console?
The game is coming out after AP tests thank god
- We don't know how much the game will cost. Assumptions are pricing around the same DRG in Early Access (23$ USD)
- Crossplay is not coming
- We don't know if the game is coming to console, nor when
- Yes, female dwarves are a thing - and yes, they can have beards
might be worth adding the currency to that price tag
$ is the symbol for usd
here in NZ its just the symbol for money
either way not a big deal just thought it'd be helpful
to be fair checking it it is in fact the symbol for like, 25 different currencies

geography lesson in the rogue core chat
lets probably not let it get too off topic tho
Are cave leeches still aggressive
Same as ever
I was hoping they'd say it releases on April 11th, I totally would have asked for the game as a birthday gift 😂
How's everyone doing today?
My flu is coming down and I just beat resident evil 4 remake
Also new rogue core news so I feel great
Quick question is rogue core gonna be like you progress through and get different weapons or will you have set guns that can be leveled like Drg
The first thing
IMO the release of rogue core will bring more popularity to DRG if it's successful
They look similar but they differ in gameplay
Rogue core will bring more people that like the roguelite genre, and they might try DRG if they haven't already
Both games will thrive as long as they get content updates, and those updates not interfere with each other
Look at path of exile 1 and 2, and those two are way more similar than DRG and RC will be
Give DRG a new season every few months and update RC in the middle of that cycle
The first thing since its a roguelike
@boreal plume good points! Hopefully both games are successful and I hope there are more seasons to come for DRG. :)
is rogue core funner than drg to all yall play testers ?
trailer seems way more cooler than drg
people are going to have different opinions about things
in fact, that's why rogue core was made in the first place
even the devs have different ideas on what drg should be
would you say it’s more “ hardcore “ than drg
once its publicly available and has a consistent playerbase, I will definitely be playing it a lot more than DRG, thats for sure
true
I've had my fill of DRG
yes it is harder
very noticably harder than DRG
though it doesnt punish you as much for loosing since youre expected to fail more often
looking at my run history, which shows my last 8 runs, I only suceeded at 3 of them
interesting
i’m glad to know it’s hard so i can really get good at it
I'm so happy they have not made the game easier across the board
GSG is sticking to their guns of letting rogue core be really hard
i am glad that the lowest difficulty was made easier than in alpha 1
but even then, theres still a fair chance for a new player to fail
From my limited solo play a loose description is more action/event packed deepdives with rogue elements of builds (other then skills nothing is a given) - so ur decisions will impact how ur runs plays out
but how hard is it in solo compared to co-op🤔
judging on all the footage I've seen you'd benefit from a band of buddies to have more and varied gear to work with
like how you never truly appreciate a gunner until you need a zipline and a shield
Any chance of new deep rock content?
I haven't got the chance to try but I think it is solo viable
You get a helper drone like Bosco from DRG, which you will be able to upgrade along the run
It can mine expenite as well
in the current build i think solo is actually much easier
seems to scale much harder with more players
Keep in mind that the intended way to play the game is still going to be mostly co-op, but the devs will do their best to balance solo play as well
some parts also tend to go faster since you don't have to wait for 3 others to group up
Yes and difficulty scales with more players, same as drg
Hey so I havent been paying attention but I just noticed a playtest opt in on the steam page, are they currently doing a PT, or is it just, whenever one comes up?
Playtest invites are sent in waves and we're on Playtest 05 right now IIRC. Another playtest will go live this month. We should get more information on that next week.
Thanks man, really appreciate the response, I am dying to give the game a try, looks really good so far
You can find more info on the playtests here. https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2605790/view/574879683755115309
how is it that you haven't changed the release date on the steam page of rogue core from Q2 2026 to 20 may 2026?
I need to know a price !
Would be nice to have a confirmed price at this point but so far we can only speculate, going off of how DRG was priced and what the devs have said on streams, I'd say expect arouns 25 usd
Does anyone know why the game is not searchable for me in steam store unless I type the full name?
Make sure you spell it rogue and not rouge
Omg 😨 That was the mistake
One is a colour and the other signifies dishonesty
I just can’t believe I got that mixed up 😂
I should probably pay more with people using English 😂
Steam ought to have a system for checking that tbh, a "did you mean?" function like search engines have
It seems to be a common mistake for people to make
Dunno, I find the game just by searching Rogue 🤔
Yeah but a lot of people seem to be searching rouge
Not knowing it's the wrong spelling
You will know the price when there's going to be an announcement, so far check pinned messages
Continuing from #drg-chat
They just added a mechanic to the elevator extraction sequence (it's like doing the uplink and fuel cells in a salvage mission basically) where the elevator can sometimes break and you have to fix it, I think different elevator objectives could be a good way forward for variety
Maybe an objective where something throws batteries or fuel canisters around the cave that you have to chase and put in the elevator, or one where there's multiple generators spread out that you have to keep repairing like rock crackers
Or the door is stuck and you need a forklift to open it, so you have to escort the forklift
Etc etc
Will rouge core be a pc exclusive on launch or will it have a console release too?
pinned messages
ROCK AND STONE GENTLEMEN
I would give anyone all my rock amd stone for an alpha code
Is this also coming to Xbox later? 🤔
I take it that Rogue Core is at least gonna be different enough from DRG so it doesn’t like completely take over the player base
I would be surprised if it didn't, but no plans for it before we go 1.0 (unless MS gives us an offer we can't refuse)
I dunno. Didn't even cross my mind. We should probably fix that.
Refer to the pinned messages
Completely? No. Some of the vets will definitely switch over to RC but I can guarantee you that there will be a sizable group of players that will complain that the game is different than DRG
This game is made for people who like to play efficiently and quickly, like a well oiled machine
DRG and RC obviously have things in common, but they’re very different experiences in practice
I have zero doubt they can co-exist without one overtaking the other in playerbase
They can surely but now the focus will be on RC as it's gonna receive way more development in upcoming months
Season 7 is probably at least a year from now, during which time RC will get a lot more
Suppose that’s why they brought on Invisible Walls
Two months.

Makes me with drg had more than 4 classes so we could have some variety in team strategy too, but the existing four classes fill the four responsibilities so well, it would be difficult to change
A new DRG class at this point would be an enormous undertaking since they’d be expected to have just as much bespoke content as the current classes
Not to mention throwing all balancing into question
DRG in its core is made for 4 classes
Adding fifth one would require changing a shit loads of things
What kind of class could you even add to the mix any way
Like what would he even do?
TRUCK
I was thinking maybe we could get like a medic type of character but I think that’d make it too easy
67 days till rogue core
yeah iirc they said any medic class is a no-go
not like the game needs one, anyway
rouge core is getting one at least
in some degree with falconer
almost wrote rocure instead of rogue core
that would've been a new one
I would guess IW will make season 7 as well, I recall that one of the announcements said it's the first season they made which would indicate they would be doing another one (e.g. season 7)
of course they probably have to ask the proper OG devteam about a lot of stuff but it definitely makes next season's waiting period shorter as you have a separate team instead of waiting to finish rogue core stuff, and on reddit one guy responsible for frameworks and so on from Invisible Walls said they had a pretty tight schedule so again, just my assumption, they were either contacted pretty late or the ~1.5 year waiting period between s5 and s6 included their introduction into how things in DRG actually work behind the scenes
yeah they were contacted pretty late, you're right about that
Season 6 development time was similar to the earlier seasons
but the wait time was longer, because they didn't get in touch with invisible walls immediately after season 5
they had their hands full with rogue core
Yep, some people forget it's not like Invisible Walls was working on Season 6 for 1.5 years
many people don't know
I watch all the streams and these things are usually said there
I didn't either, I just assumed it until you confirmed it
Does RC have a sort of tiering system of danger to compensate for meta-progression? For instance: do levels, enemies and bosses get progressively more dangerous as you advance* in the game?
Yeah there's modifiers that you choose from after you beat a stage which give you stuff like a weapon crate with a tradeoff of buffed enemies
Congratulations for the GSG team for reaching that release date milestone!
Nope, not inherently. Risk Vectors chosen between each level do make enemies harder to deal with, but only in a specific run
But it is very much hard, with the hardest difficulty an equivalent to hazard 5
Got it, thanks for clarifying
How will the missions be structured in rogue core and would there be cool boss fights?
basically you select a mission from the terminal similar how you would in drg. The missions you select vary in lengths, missions ranging from 4-6 stages i believe
Then once you get down into the cave, you select your weapon and gear, then you must look for expenite to deposit in the drone (this games version of the mule) and once you have enough expenite you gather around the drone with your teammates and pick weapons. Throughout the mission you have to explore the cave and find the elevator to the next stage, while getting stronger collecting expenite and doing side objectives along the way. You do this until you get to the final stage where there's a rift with the levels boss living in it. Right now there are two bosses I believe, and i assume they have plans to add more to the mix
but once you defeat it, they call down a pod and you extract from there
How often does the pod land in a position that makes it really hard to get to?
normally very close
Basically never
once i did have it land in a spot with a construction that made it impossible to get into
Sometimes there’s structures inside the pod, but I’m sure that’ll get fixed
but i documented and reported it
Like how the pod deletes OSR pipes in DRG
getting in the drop pod isnt meant to be stressful like it is in DRG, it's just to give closure
It definitely feels better than before where the screen just faded to black
currently its just the DRG drop pod but in the next alpha build it'll be the reclaimer one
The reclaimer pod is so cool
in the first alpha it didnt even drop as the mission started
I love that it’s got what appear to be magnetic rails surrounding it on the ramrod, so it doesn’t just launch, it gets shot out
it'd just fade to black one the countdown ended and start the loading screen
The ramrod in general is very exciting I’m really looking forward to what it’ll look like once it’s finished, it’s huge
ditto
Is the music banging?
It’s as great as DRG’s, but I’m hoping we get more tracks soon
Anyone know if and/or when they'll talk about RC coming to console?
or if they did already and I'm just an idiot
pinned message
Just asking again until I get an answer, i know everything is subject to change but is there somewhere i can see what all the new perks are or the full skill tree thing? I know that there’s new perks but literally have 0 clue what any of them do
And i saw somewhere in a video you can stack them so like a tier 3 perk can be equipped with its tier 1 and 2 counterparts, unless that was changed
They arent so much perks as they are simple, tiny stat boosts
More health here, more armor there, more crit chance, etc
They are called enhancements and, as of right now, are the only forms of non-cosmetic character customization
And the only form of meta-progression that isnt related to missions and content in missions
Yes you can still stack them afaik
Just checked the wiki and there's nothing there. Someone with access could record a video and go trough each tier
Yeah the problem is actually finding someone with access who’s also willing to take the time to do that and upload it somewhere
Same composer from DRG so expect it to bang, we get a lot of drums this time
What I want to know mainly is if there’s any of these enhancements that make your abilities recharge faster
I would love to use the abilities as often as possible
I can do it in an hour or so, power is currently out
i would be willing
but i think i'd rather wait for alpha 6 so its more up to date
If you have access to a previous alpha are you automatically selected for a future one?
Yep
ye
You have permanent access until the game is out, upon which you need to buy it
Damn lucky
Good to know
we know there will be at least one more invite wave
Here’s to hoping
Can you still request access to the Alpha?
Request you can always
Will you get it is different story
Rogue core tomorrow
Release date trailer is at 250k views
Season 6 trailer got 300k
Alpha gameplay trailer from 11 months ago got 600k
I wonder how many people we will have playing day 1
I expect the store might crash
I’ll have no shortage of people to play with on release that’s for sure
My biggest fear is that the playercount still slowly drops into nothingness without updates to grab attention
That happens with almost any game
Views on youtube and such wont equal sales, much less actual players
That's true
I just know a recent release stressed steam out a bit
Store was laggy
I mean DRG doesn’t get major updates that frequently
RC will get more since it’ll be in Early Access
It still indicates interest
The thumbnails aren’t super clickable by normal YouTube standards but Rogue Core trailers get noticeably really high views compared to the other videos on GSGs channel, so people are actively seeking it out
May not directly translate to sales but it does show a lot of people are actively thinking about it
hey I've got a question, anyone know how much the game will cost?
was that supposed to be a joke?
if were going to make a bet, ill probobly say at least 3
Currently we have 5 dwarfs, with a million more well on the way
Check pinned messages
thanks
WHERE'S THE ROGUE CORE PRE-ORDER?! I GOT MY WALLET RIGHT HERE!
thats what i'm saying
DRG games are great. I hope it comes to Xbox later. 🥰
Hey, just curious, but can I change the gender on my dwarf if I like a particular class? I'd assume so, since DRG has always been so customization focused, but I thought I'd ask.
nope, gender is class locked
Would be a really nice feature, but I wouldn't expect it to get added
Shame. Can't just be a dude all across, huh?
no
Reclaimers are more of individuals than they're jobs/classes
Similar to risk of rain it sounds
yeah
Could be neat, means they get could have their own lore instead of being faceless dwarves, I suppose
Dunno, the shared voices and models combined with no class restrictions makes it feel more like DRG
There are class restrictions
Whoops
So we getting a rescue mission where the reclaimers save the DRG miners?
No
so the reclaimers are basically the spec op of deep rock ?
Details for the game in pinned messages
yes
they are the elite security force of the company
It's probably not really worth the money and effort to make two sets of voicelines for each class, especially when each update will probably add more and more.
That being said, I imagine you could make an all male/female dwarf team by just modifying the audio files like adjusting the pitch or using other software to change it with a mod.
EDIT: Just wanted to add, there are many different audio mods for DRG, with anime girls, goblins and other stuff, never used any and can't speak for their quality but they're there so
Iirc the female dwarves are very much Tolkien-esque, I mean they can equip beards and such, so voice is the only difference here
There is one single male voice and one single female voice
The problem is not voicelines whatsoever, its models
each dwarf has class specific voicelines, the problem is voicelines and models
Sure, but thats 10-20 lines out of thousands. Totally negligible, imo.
May 20th? But I want it now!
Yeah this is my thinking. There's not really that many class specific voicelines
Will the music from the newest trailer ever come out 🥺
when the game's out, the music likely will be too
I am keeping all the music for myself, and you will get none
why dont people play rogue core
i have never seen a lobby in the game that i can join
its been months since the last playtest
most are just waiting for the next one, especially since progress will reset and numbers of players who can play are so limited
that's the other thing i wanted to know. how many people have rogue core?
if i were to guess less than 10,000
wow
and just because people have access doesnt mean theyll play
whenever a new invite wave occurs it causes a large amount of activity for a few weeks
paraphrasing Mike from the closed alpha chat here, but they'll hopefully have alpha 6 this week after fixing up some critical stuff, if not that then next week
and it will likely be a rather large wave
But none of this is a promise it's just an educated guess
I committed sins in a past life so I didn't get access
im just cursed so i didn't get access
The devs hate me specifically (I ate precious minerals)
Man this game might get me back into online multiplayers
atm i wasn't really into them
is there any ice guns in rogue core
No, but there's a universal upgrade that deals and additional 40% of your damage as ice
I think the shock blaster is the only gun with an inherent element actually (shoots bolts of electricity), all the others get elements though those upgrades
Engineer's smg too
I am coping so hard for the dual flamethrowers to finally actually happen
Even if it were to have like half range or something, would be sick (don’t have access to rogue core yet, but I’d assume that makes sense)
I've no idea why but once on stream they said that elemental weapons are a bit of a problem
That's why we haven't seen drillers weapons yet I guess
Someone correct me if I'm wrong though
they said it was a problem due to the upgrade system not really working with them i think
Y'all I think we might have a repeat of the silksong release when rogue core hits early access
Hope so, but probably not. But of it does happen, hell yeah
LF1M for rogue core!
No Access....?
Oh you should use the discord link in the game to get the closed alpha role
Obviously not going to be on the same scale but I expect a lot of players, maybe even passing DRGs all time high player count which was 50k
Everything comes down to marketing and if there will be another major game release in May/June
Playtest requests are in the hundreds of thousands, trailers get a lot of views, DRG players that stopped playing will probably come back and try it out (300k steam reviews). Helldivers community is kinda upset with the state of the game right now but that just might be the reddit bubble, nonetheless some of it's players might migrate to a new co-op experience
I'm no data analyst by any means but things are looking good so far
Will rogue core have cool af sword-like melee weapons?
probably not
i would be kinda surprised if there is much more beyond slicer's ability
which is also not very much of a sword in practice
No badass twin axe dwarf 😔
Damn, I just saw a dwarf with a cool blade on the EA trailer thumbnail and got excited
Rogue core tomorrow
there's a little bit of story on the steam page
It's not that deep though
not even rock deep?
damn
galactic
that pun made me go rogue to the core
just make sure you don't end up a survivor
which is what?
do we know there's been so many playtest requests?
yeah lemme check the dev posts
"What are my odds of getting in?
Low. The applicant list for the Closed Alpha is now in the hundreds of thousands, so each wave of invitations will only ever reach a small percentage of all the signups."

Highly doubt they’ll add dedicated melee weapons, but Slicer has a melee ability and in general your pickaxe swings faster when hitting enemies + there’s a bunch of perks for power attack upgrades
I’m hoping they let us put an upgrade on the pickaxe at workbenches
Literally me entire Deep Rock friend group has gotten in except one poor guy
I made my friend group, which didn't even play drg, request access to rogue core during the time when you could send friend invites
none of them got access but it would be really funny if any of them got it this month
I just came around an IG reel announcing the early access of DRG rogue core, I feel so dumb I've been in this serv since Season 4 of DRG and just thought "yeah it’s gonna be a tps 3/4 camera rogue like" how the hell do I larp Ghostship, JJK must be a varient of the T-virus atp 🥀
lost me in the second half of that message
I had to double take, and then I just gave up
same
The rot, it consumes
what
i guess the 67 days till release got to him
now he will never be the same
I know he wanted to stuff 6 7 somewhere in there
What ? I just said I can't believe I larped Drg like a JJK fan, was it explained that poorly ? 🦧
It sounded like a parody lol
still have no idea what your saying but ok
He was talking shit about a GSG game like the fans of the popular manga/anime series Jujutsu Kaisen do with their own series. Then compared JJK to the T-Virus from resident evil, like it was brainrot
anyways dont worry friend, rogue core is going to be fire
my faith shall never faulter
I don't speak whatever the hell that was
Ok now I understand why I sound like a psycho
laughed at that
Does rigorous combat work? Feels like every time I get revived by Cooper with it, I don’t regain any armor at all.
Hey guys, can anyone explain me what's the selling proposition of Deep Rock Galactic Rogue Core?
I have been told that it's a Rogue like game but I am not familiar with that genre.
I have watched a bit of a gameplay and it seems like you go into the mission empty handed which I am not sure why.
So you are not basically going to the mission with your usual loadouts and you instead build your loadout as you are going through the mission.
So in this way you have the freedom to choose between different weapons which you would not usually be able to do so if you belonged to a certain class. So I have seen some people choose a Driller's driller and primary of a Gunner.
so whats the catch? i dnt understand what rogue lite games are. can anyone explain it in the context of DRG rogue core.
roguelike = every time you die you loose everything. roguelite is where there's upgrades you keep throughout every run. the reason why they go in empty handed is because there's a barrier that destroys most technology.
also each class has a base ability like slicer who has a sword and can dash
Basically you start less powerful, but get more powerful each stage through various objectives and items
And everything racketan said
The term roguelike comes from a 90's video game called Rogue.
Roguelikes give you essentially one run, no saves, and when you die, you die. But you learn, and so you start your next run from scratch with more knowledge. But still from the beginning.
Roguelikes have been around since the 90s.
The 2010s saw the format change a little, and the roguelite sprang into popularity.
Roguelites have the same formula, but you have meta progressions now. Usually, this is a tree of skills or perks or abilities that you unlock over time after runs, but you are still starting each run from the same point. Just this time you now have more knowledge, and more power. The term roguelite has broadened in scope over the last decade, but the generally accepted gist is what Mentally Well said -
"Gather as much possible character buffing things in a single run to accomplish the end goal of a run. And whether you win or lose, you upgrade your character, and try again"
Rogue Core is a roguelite.
Copying from somewhere way up there.
Yes
wdym the beginning? you mean no perks? no weapon mods? have to earn them again? i am guessing their wont be any revives in this game. which would make it extremely punishing. given you will have to restart the mission as watching others complete it wont make sense.
i would reread what he said
roguecore is a roguelite, not a roguelike. This means it has metaprogression
be any revives in this game
no one said that
It also will have revives because it is a coop roguelite
however, rogue core actually has zero perks right now
yeah i checked glass comment. what does he mean by that when you die, you die? what do you loose? i mean in DRG its a very simple game for me. i die and i try again. i dnt loose any weapons or perks
When you die, you lose any weapons, tools, items, and upgrades obtained along the way
dnt they have like a perk system where you get buffs? have seen some gameplay.
during a run i mean
yep, bioboosters
when you die: nothing
when you lose: everything that you got on the run and isnt tied to meta progression
but rogue core doesn't have perks that you pick in the ramrod
oh ohk. sure and if you win? do you get to keep it? if yes then whats the point of keeping them if you always start from the beginning?
have you played any rougelike or lite before?
enter the gundeon, hades or something?
i dnt think so. tbh. none of the above mentioned tbh.
They're fun, you should try one someday
can you recommend me one?
Risk of rain 2 might be a good one to start, although that's my opinion
i have seen my DRG friends what i met through DRG play risk of rain 2 but never checked outso
One thing to note: Rogue Core is less punishing than DRG. You keep a LOT more from losing. As of right now, nothing is meaningfully depending on winning.
Anyway, to surmise: There are various objectives you are tasked to do in a run. Complete a run of X levels, kill a boss, etc etc. These get more complicated and involve harder content over time.
Doing these objectives unlocks Intel. Intel lets you unlock the following things for runs/facilities:
- The ability to personally start events and obtain a grenade at the start of a run. Anyone can do this as long as they have this ability. Think the key used for machine events.
- Difficulties up to depth 4, which is an equivalent to Hazard 5
- Length up to 6, which is how many floors a particularly run will have
- Complexity, which is identical to DRG
- Anomalies and Warnings
- Biomes
There are objectives that explicitly require winning a run, though
Anyway, unlocking these things means you can now start a run involving them
The second system, enhancements, is a lot more simple. You play the game, you get XP. When you have enough, you get a point to spend on enhancements, which are small stat boosts which can be combined separate of each other in 8 total slots.
well as long as RCore has the same cooperation and distinctness of classes then i hope i would like it. the reason i like DRG is how classes are setup in a way where every class that makes them unique and purposefull which incentivises sticking and working together.
in DRG rogoue core i have seen people pick between driler's driller and engi platform gun and scouts flare gun. etc. which makes me wonder what the classes are even in this game. we have slicer. who slices, but is that what he does? and he has the freedom to pick any of the utility tools?
Cooperation is there and arguably bigger
Classes are just special abilities
are missions going to be longer ebcoz they are in stages? i mean i do EDD and they are quite longer. and i only play them when i know i can in a single sitting.
Yes
Like melee wide attack, something similar to scout's marked for death ect
There're are I'd say mini-DDs and bigger DDs (Normal ones too) if we're comparing
Basically none of that Egghunt stuff
5 minutes egg hunt goes brr
yeah i have seen those special abilities. but i dnt see how a single ability is gonna prove the entire utility of a class if all of them happen to running similar loadouts. in DRG classes are very segmented. for example during a mission an engi cannot use gunners weapons. they dnt have any special abilities but special equipments that make them purposefull.
unfortunately, I have to admit that the cooperation between classes as seen in DRG is dramatically less focused on.
See, DRG focuses on immediate, in the moment class interactions. You place down a platform so the scout can get some nitra, you place down a zipline so everyone can cross a gap.
IN contrast, Rogue Core focused much more on game-wide, abstract "macro" decisions. When a player picks an upgrade that does something if an enemy is set on fire, it's wise for someone else to pick a weapon/upgrade that sets enemies on fire.
When someone picks an upgrade that makes critical hit explodes enemy, someone should get an upgrade that gives everyone a much higher chance of landing a critical hit.
whichc class has the grappling hook? or is it something you pick along the way?
Mainly because it is not DRG
There will be much more classes than 4
There is no grappling hook
I think it was removed?
Yeah the grapplng hook was entirely removed ages ago
Yes, during the first alpha
Idk if anyone has asked but can someone explain the difference between armor and shield?
will other members know about the loadouts of each other? in DRG you can tell what gnner and engi is capable of.
Armor in rogue core doesn't replenish automatically. To compensate, every hit takes down the amount of hitpoints taken and then slowly removes that section of armor
why would they remove grappling hook?
Beacuse else everyone would just use it
so if you take 10 damage, you will lose 10 armor. but that 10 armor will be removed at a slow pace, and any damage taken in that moment is treated as though the player still has armor
i mean it isnt super OP. sure it gets you anywhere you want
It is super OP
ok but wouldnt that be equivalent to everyone playing as scout? i like scout but i dnt see it dominating the DRG servers. almost everyone is playing as other than a scout.
It's greedy nature is also multipled 100 times over. You could pick a tool that helped everyone, or pick the tool that exclusively helps yourself
But scout has poor swarm control
In RC, you just pick right guns
yeah the only thing about grappling hook is that it only helps the scout.
It also removed any choice or interest from picking tools. If you rolled this one, arguments could easily ensue about who gets it
Sure this still happens elsewhere but like
Why keep one solo movement tool when you could add 20 new upgrades that improve mobility, and that could improve the mobility of others?
No grappling hook, but Slicer has an air dash as one of his abilities
I mean, it's there
yes thats what i am trying to say. i am saying that i like scout but even in DRG servers even iin open servers (with no class locked restric) not everyone is picking scout. i see a lot of driller, gunner and engis. so wouldnt that be true for RC as well? platform are extremely useful too, and so are the ziplines. and driller driller although slower than scout can get you anywhere
Not that big of a reach though
Poor swarm damage is not an upside
Scout is balanced by being poor DPS
In RC you can just pick minigun or something alongside hook
scout has poor swarm control. but i dnt see why anyone would see scout's grappling hook as OP. yes it helps you to get anywhere you want. but when a swarm comes the scout is mostly kiting and you cant kite indefinitely. a scout's kills are consistently lower than other classes. he may not have good swarm control becoz of lack of firepower. he still can get to tricky places
There is no scout in RC
Only his tools
These tools can be equipped on anyone, with any weapon from any other class
i know their is no scout. but grappling hook is one of the tools.
You you can run hook and autocannon
And you get both best mobility tool and dps
You basically remove the main downside of scout by giving him another gun
In DRG, you either pick speed or dps
In RC, you could pick both
so i dnt know why it wsa removed. was it the only thing removed? what about sentries? ziplines? c4s
Sentries turned into mini sentries
Ziplines are
One-time use
(No, but you're fast upwards too)
Must've been the wind
hook and autocannon? is it like scouts gunpowder OC for boomstick? i mean compared t grappling hook its still nothing.
Autocannon is the giant 50 cal gun for gunner
they are still one time use in DRG
No
These ones you put down and forget about them
You can recall the ones in DRG
Main reason why you don't see 4 scouts in DRG is beacuse you sacrifice DPS
In RC, you don't have to do so
how do you recover ziplines in DRG?
Sentry up!
-# no more so well, hem?
yeah, i know sentries are recoverable.
?
Mentally well
can you stack classes in RC btw?
I think you can place as many of them as long as you an amount of them
No
i m assuming it wont be as fun as DRG tbh.
given what i like about DRG is not their. but i will wait to see how it plays out.
especially when their is no grappling hook. i sometimes play as scout when i am tired of staying on the ground most of the time with other classes.
i may not get the most kills but lol i know other classes are jealous when they are not able to explore the caves like a scout can.
"oh i have got a grappling hook, what are YOuu gonna do about it?"
Ghost Ship Game - "choom we are gonna remove it in RC"
Beacuse it is too OP
It wouldn't be fun if everyone always picked hook
It outclasses by miles ziplines, plats and sometimes even drills
the thing is, it would also be the most selfish support tool in rogue core
You do have other mobility options the anti grav spotter can get more jump height and you can get additional jumps ziplines are way faster
but why would everyone pick the hook? i would never pick a hook if someone already has it. are drillers drill useless? engi's platforms? sure i dnt like gunners zipline as well.
Well there is still the double jump
but these are at least locked behind RNG
I do remember having access to grapple and platform at the same time(when you have multiple traversal tools)
You maybe still can
They aren't useless
They are not nearly as fast as hook
nah their is no such thing as what grappling hook can do.
Who needs ziplines if you can just hook everywhere M
Who needs bridges if you can hook holes?
In DRG you are at least supposed to grapple to minerals at otherwise very hard to reach places, so you can support your team with mining. RC has almost none of that other than security cameras and the occasional expenite, so you wouldn't really support your team with it
Combat stim is also pretty crazy option
but i dnt need speed when i play as a driller. if speed is what everyone is after then everyone would have played as scout in DRG.
But you need speed in RC
also Slicer has some sort of built in movement abilty, it's not on the level of a grapple but you can jump pretty high with it
You would probably like Slicer
While it is completely different game, just in same universe
Jacob's DRG main is scout and he basically only plays Slicer lol
but you need speed in DRG as well right? i mean the longer you are in it the more hoardes you will have to face and i m sure nitra is in a limited supply in a DRG map.
In DRG swarms don't get bigger with time (outside of point extraction, which is short anyway)
In RC game will make everything harder with tine
Time*
it's pretty hard to run out of ammo in DRG unless you stay for more than 1h, which is already a long time
i have only seen him dash tbh. which is nothing compared to the hook. if i had to do that then i would use a perk like dash.
the only exception being point extraction
well dash is OP too
hmm
Once you reach red on the timer you really should have started the elevator
elevator phase is nothing to joke about man
It really is just death most often, if you're not close to an elie
you already have a timer for every stage?
Yes, in RC, you have a timer that starts as soon as you enter
For every stage
Sure do gets pretty tight on higher depths
To the point where you have to consider skipping an event or something similar
That tbh
In DRG you are expected to full the cave
In RC, you are expected to leave some behind
leave no dwarf behing though
well in that case it would make sense. but i dnt know about not picking drills. as it doesnt whether you have a timer or not. a drill can carve a really short path if their are missions like hacking pods. and where you have to build pipelines and find yourself in a trickly spot. you will end up wasting a lot of time. their is a reason why i always choose driller for his drillers in refinery missions.
Drill short path and miss expenite/events
Or die in the tunnel to more crawlers than you have fingers and toes
i dnt know tbh. with vampire perk i have gone from downed to regaining almost half of my health battling a swarm.
With what perk? In RC?
And if you do use drills to save the time, you will either save almost nothing or make it worse
Again, take off DRG Glasses
Ziplines in their buffed state are pretty popular
It is not DRG
RC ziplines make my mouth water tbh as a Gunner main
