ok real interview time
S4 was supposed to be about the 7 Shadow Assassin's Fate (aka the title of the season) which is why we didn't see much of Ah Qi. He estimates that we're at eps 30-40 out of 70... then he quickly corrects himself and says "roughly/pretend" haha. he agrees that the foreshadowing might've been too long
re: the pacing. the 4 "main characters" (my words not his), Qing Feng, Ah Qi, Redtooth, and White Fox, were supposed to have their stories being told in parallel in separate circumstances before converging into one focal point. Chinese fanbase apparently felt that the first few episodes were like S1, but what he really meant was that even though Chicken Island is a place with powerful individuals, in absence it's also the place where the weak will be brave. He also talks about other foreshadowing aside from S4 EP4/9, such as the Flying Bird Sect, and implies that he'll do better to not string the audience for so long (my interpretation)

Chinese audience clamoring for S5 files. basically "season 5 when?". and it's been written for a while! (@ 6min) it'll hopefully come it next year (2024). interviewer teases the director about keeping his promises, but HXF can only say that they'll work hard~
some movie talk but nothing definitive except that they're putting in a lot of work. really hard. so much so that it's possibly even overwhelming.
RT and Chairman Jiang's relationship. all the Shadow Assassins are supposed to have different themes. Qing Feng's revenge, RT and Jiang's romance (gag). Interviewer asks about RT's atonement... HXF says he can't answer! (which probably means yes) and then goes on to say it's not atonement, but redemption (I'm rolling my eyes so hard here)
anyway moving on... WF's theme is of "destiny", and he's supposed to be the "highlight" of S4. the director says that WF was the first (since long ago?) to realize that Shadow Assassins all share the same unbreakable fate (very likely the voice at the end of EP8) but the interviewer quickly points out that most of the fanbase has already guessed this hahaha HXF thinks the audience is very impressive. HXF also somewhat backtracks and states that RT's theme is actually atonement. he doesn't want to tell the audience to forgive RT because of his backstory

(just like on his blogpost) HXF again acknowledges the audience's feedback very very humbly and somewhat self-deprecatingly, saying that the whole team works very hard and he's very appreciative of everyone and he'll personally take the blame and stuff.
The director is still looking for people (staff members) 👀
Interviewer speculates that Wu Liuqi's story can be seen as a "coming of age" story... before getting shut down (stabbed in the heart with a knife) 😂 ahem HXF agrees that Ah Qi's story can be seen like that, as he lived in a very child-like mentality that's forced to grow up when facing such hatred, but more so as a child's view of the world, wondering why things are the way they are (paralleling lines said during EP8).
wrapping up with the ED playing in the background, the interviewer jokes that he wanted to take HXF out to buy a lottery ticket together (lyrics), but because he has a team-building exercise afterwards he already bought the ticket himself and thanks the director for letting him learn about the world of lottery. HXF says to thank their producer instead, Da Mao/大猫 (big cat? likely a nickname), who wrote the song. she became fascinated with lottery after learning about it too, moreso the terminology itself and how exciting it is, but doesn't like to buy tickets herself. they'll be splitting the winnings of the ticket 🙂 “In fact, it didn't win anything, so there was nothing to split haha."
