Head xy troubles

I’m struggling with head xy because I keep getting that parent error even when I select things in the same hierarchy.

Here are my layers:

select only the outermost deformer and not anything inside it

I tried that and it still didn’t work

I might just rig each layer individually

❓How do I fix this error "Please create an object with the same parent deformer selected"

Make sure that only parent objects are selected before making a new deformer! Check the graphics below

This command will explain make sure only the parent is selected nothing inside of the parent should be selected make sure it lines up with the line on the second photo

so after I decided to rig everything individually I've had to go through every eye keyform and fix them for every head angle.. does anyone have an easier way of doing this ive been doing this for hours..

Well yeah thats the down side of rigging things individually that's why we recommend deformers to make it easier
