So I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to rigging.. and I thought it was going smoothly until it came to mouth rigging LMAO I'm stuck and I have no clue what to do about this. The mouth looks normal in front view, which of course it does.-. but THENNNN! when I go to turn the head.. all the mouth shapes end up looking like this.. What and where did I go wrong? how do I fix it?
it looks bad when he's looking up, down and to the sides, but it looks the absolute worst in the corners
(you're welcome for this nightmare fuel LMAO)

the closed mouth looks okay tho? I'm taking a break for now LMAO
How is your mouth deformer for angle xy looking at the side/corner angles?
Is the deformer big enough to cover the entire mouth in all its motion?
mmh how do I bring up the warp deformer again?
oh I'm looking at it now and it looks like it's kinda small? would it be best to maybe just start over from scratch?
It should be fine, but the shape is a bit strange for the mouth movements in those angles. You could either redo the angles by setting the face in a neutral position, removing the deformer for the angles on the mouth, creating a new deformer for the mouth angles, check if the deformer is big enough for the entire mouth at neutral and open mouth positions, then work on angles
Or you can edit the angles as is with the current deformer since the angles look a bit odd
for some reason it started doing this instead now?
the deformers are the "MOUTH XY" right?
It's thw face angles deformer
The face angles deformer is affecting the mouth angles deformer
Ah damn, is there a way to replace it? Or should I start over from the beginning? or would making the deformer bigger help?
How does the face angles deformer look
Head and face deformer from the front
head deformer at an angle
and the face deformer
I'm seeing now that it's definitely all over the place
Apologies for being afk,
Can you take a screenshot of your deformer hierarchy for the head/face/mouth?
nono please no need to apologize! I just appreciate the help! but yesyes of course!
or maybe this is easier to read~
I think you should make sure all parameters are at neutral, then move the deformers Hair Front XY all the way down to Mouth XY into Head XY (do not include the eyebrow xy in this since the eyebrow shadow is kind of just there). It might fix some of the scuff, and you might be able to fine tune the motion easier.
Or you can try to correct the motion in the mouth deformer and then do the same over again with the other deformers
word of advice: try not to have multiple deformers all on the same parameters in one another
since if you move them at different speeds the sliding creates really weird deformations in between keys
i know you've already rigged the head here but this is just a heads up for next time (no pun intended :P)
ohhh wait okay thank you guys so much! I think what I'll do is restart the rigging and start over from the beginning since I have the time to do it seeing as this is just a model I'm rigging for fun and for myself to learn from! And these were all good tips and I think I can understand it a bit better now~
I'll keep this model saved for later I think just to go back and see where the mistakes I made previously was :3
also ngl this made me laugh probably more than it should've LOL
