hey, im making an animation in live2d and im confused as to how i would use a mask layer (like those some use to hide the face lineart for head turns) for the light, in this case. if i want the light to shine for a few seconds and then dissipate, and im thinking of doing that by dragging a mask around thats clipped to the light, but i dont know the specifics of how i would do that, or even the basics of how to do that! any help is appreciated :]

here is the thingy

i thought of dragging a mask that the light is clipped to around when the light is supposed to show up (its supposed to shine for a little on the helmet visor, and then dissipate) but i have no idea what shape the light or the mask would have to be for this to work, or how im supposed to execute or draw this out

can you do an sketch of how you visualize the light move-disapear
like if you do a planning of
step 1 > 2 > 3 > end

like this maybe?

#

of course, the light sparkle would be a separate layer that increases in opacity and size when the light hits its peak

#

and slowly goes back to zero following the light

ok, you will make a layer to be a flat color [any color] like you did as the black shape

then you will make a star, then you can make a line blurried or a "round" blurry

in live2D the flat color will be invisible
but the star and the blurry layer will only show inside of that flat layer area, so you will animate it moving from one side to the other [[and even if you want to change the opacity of it at the start and end to disapear

#

now, that make the mask part

if you want it to have the effect of a "round" surface where the light is moving over
in live2D you would have to create a deformer, and make it round and big, so when the light moves inside that deformer, it will move like its over a round surface

oooh wait i think i get it

#

so, i have to make a flat color layer (lets say black for example) and itll be invisible, then make the star shape and the round blurry light clip to it, then i animate it and make it look like its catering to the shape of the helmet visor by using a deformer in the shape of a circle, and when it goes over the deformer it takes the shape of it?

yes

by takes the shape of it i mean it looks like its moving on the surface of it

#

ooooh okay!!! thank you

#

ill test it out to see if i find any issues prior to including it on the drawing

#

thank you so so so much

i have a question, how would i make the deformer? should i include both lights in the deformer, what should i include in it? and what should it be the parent of?

first you make de deformer selecting the mask shape, but then take the mask out so you can deform the warp deformer as you need
once is ready, you will move the light layers to a keyform where they are not over the mask, and move them inside the warp deformer

with this, now that you move the light layer parameter, it will do as the video

you have to rig the light moving from one place to another
so at some point i need to be outside of the area [[you can see on the video when i select the light you can see its not over the skull
