#How to copy movements of a part to a different part?

I know the title isn't clear, but I was wondering if I could copy over my hair movements to my hair shadow parts. Both parts are separated the same way, except for the obvious rendering differences.

Is there any way I could copy over the movement without re-rigging the shadows from scratch?

Basically, I want to assign the same movement to different parts.

Ctrl + shift + c on the one with the movement
Ctrl + shift + v on the one that doesn't have it
I'm not sure if it'll work perfectly but try and see

#

Also make sure you are selecting the correct deformer/part when you are copying and pasting

I'm unsure if this works but since you said the parts are identical with exception of the colors of the textures, there's a high chance it works

My shadows are just the same as the hair except I shaded them in a flat skin color and then slapped multiply on them

#

That isn't a "special" rendering right

yeah, that is not like special render [as special mean for example multiple colors, blurrs effects etc etc]
yours is more traditional [and i like it more tbh]

there is 2 ways to start
A.-you make a layer the shape of the head but the color you want the shadow
b.- you copy the head piece and just multiply and adapt opacity

2.- once you have all your hair rigged, you select the one you want to make "shadow"s, and make a copy of everything [i usually create a parent deformer of this copy pieces/deformers, and this parent i call it "shadow"]
3.- using this parent deformer you move it a little down maybe if you want scale it down a little too, and set opacity 0%
4.- selecting everything of this copied pieces you ctrl + C
5.- you go to whatever you choosed on the step A/B and ctrl V on the clipping

now you have rigged shadows

yep

That does seem... Quite intuitive and fast. But this wouldn't work for shadows of the hair on the body or something right?

#

For example if the hair is long and flowing, and it goes over multiple textures, I'd have to do this for all of them

#

Instead of just doing ctrl shift c and v?

#

But your method would work extremely well for bust-ups and smaller renders imo, especially as it would require me to work less on the shadows and stuff!

well 🤔 i once did that by just copy the torso and chest layer too as its a multiply over it

other times when i see i really cant use this method i rig the hair and the shadow at the same time so i dont need to copy shapes and that stuff

Hmmm, I guess it would work as long as there aren't too many separate parts in the torso

#

My model has more than 20 in the chest area alone so that would mean significant copy-pasting

This is the model, as you can see it has a lot of moving parts (one of the longer hair bangs are hidden)

ohh that is a really pretty model :0c
but yes i can understand where you coing with it.
do you know if its gonna have toggles for it to take pieces out?
as for example if i would be there and i know there is no toggle out i would probably copy the back "cape?" piece and the sleeves for the shadow, as those covers the main of the silluete

#

the other you can do is copy the hair piece, move it behind, turn it multiply with maybe a color effect too and opacity low
they are like ideas [i usually try diferent approach sometimes to see what looks better]

Wait could you also turn the rigged hair into a preset and then use it on the other hair with similar movements?

What would the problems be with that method

If you don't mind explaining

oh i see, you are going to a good direction, as its your first time feel free to always ask anything you need, i know live2D can be a little tricky sometimes
