How to rig to real face
I looked up how to rig to face, but all the tutorials out there just talk about how to rig the models, not how to have it reflect your real face. I was wondering if there was a step I missed somewhere, if I'm overthinking it, or if there is a seperate program I have to use to do this. (I'm hoping that last one is not the case as I've already spent alot of money on Clip Paint and Live2d.) My character is done, (I think, got to test it.)

there is different options in order to make your rigged Model move!
you need something to track your own face like a webcam or iPhone.
2nd thing you will need is a program like Vtube Studio (its free) . There is alternatives too but VTS is the most popular one.
There is plenty of videos online on how to set it up if you need help with that.
Im faster typing than writing with a pen lol
Oh yeah I have vtube studio! and if you might be able to link me with something that would be great, sometimes tutorials are either vague and skip steps or complicated
this is my first time rigging
aw, first time rigging is always fun
Painting was the hardest part as it's very different that how I usually paint. Having sections and things instead of one picture.
this server is very lovely and helpful towards people rigging for the first time <3
don't be too stressed about the results, you'll come back to it and think "wow!!!! I improved so much!!!!!" You'll be very proud
mhh I havent really watched a lot of beginner tutorials on VTS but more optimizing your model ones but Yoshino is always a great creator that offers in depth tutorials for beginners (and intermediate) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP-G3eG5iG4
When i deliver my models, i'm often asked by clients how to set them up in Vtube Studio, so i thought of making a tutorial on it!
00:00-00:33 Intro
00:33-01:38 Importing the files
01:38-03:03 Opening the model
03:03-03:35 XYZ Movement
03:35-05:08 Face Lean Rotation
05:08-06:05 Eyebrows
06:05-08:20 Eyes fix
08:20-09:49 Mouth Fix
09:49-10:53 Smil...
it was hard for me, too - eventually it gets easier. you learn tips and tricks and sometimes those tricks become part of your workflow!
like, for general art
and YES yoshino offers amazing tutorials
I just finished my first model too! (its mine) and Im already sketching my first child 🥹 Im no rigger, just an artist but yea it took MANY weeks in order to finish my model too
I'm working on my first model of my final design
I have the experience of someone who's done the art for a year or two
... I've been redrawing the art for 2 years. Same character.
quick question while I got you guys. How do you set up toggles? Like I press a button and he takes an expression or action happens?
Settings in vts, 4th option to the right at the top (i forget the symbol for it), thats the hotkey settings. Hit the plus, set the action to set/unset expression, set the expression to whichever exp json you want and then you can set up the hotkey (the button you press to activate it) by either recording the button presses or selecting the buttons manually (i recommend rec bc not all keybuttons are created equally). Then you can test the keypress and it should work.
I must be missing something, because Vtube studio requires modeljson, while my avatar made in cubism is a cmo3 file
when you export your model you get all the files you need to run it on vtube studio
you put everything on a folder, and that folder on the folder models for vts
Ooook so youre missing a couple steps. I'm guessing you havent rigged the model yet?
@ivory cloak I don't think so, I have it set up to mouth stuff, eyes, eyebrows, etc.
when you finish rigging a model
then you need to make your atlas [is the file that contains all pieces of your model]
then you make a folder for your model
Then you export as runtime to that folder
Now you should have a set of multiple files and a folder of your texture
you take all that folder, open VTS
click on inport model, and open folder, it will open the "model folder loading for vts" you put your model folder inside that folder
and now you should be able to see your model on the list of vtube studio, click it and use it
Weird question. How do I zoom my character in while on Vtube studio? you think the mouse middle scroll would work but it doesn't
well it should be the middle thing of the mouse, maybe you have something not configurated or you can ask on vts server
yeah middle mouse button doesn't seem to work. on other programs it does. weird.
did you opened vts as administrator?
opened it in steam. Look i'm going to have alot more other questions cause weird stuff is happening. My head won't look up or down despite working fine in cubism, mouth is all twitchy, can't frown, eyebrows are all wack, but I'll ask some other time.
Questions are fine. Did you use the default parameters already loaded in Live2D when rigging your model?
yeah. Maybe I set it up wrong or something, it doesn't make sense. He'll look up to the left, and down to the right, but that's it. I believe I set the parameters according to the tutorial (angle XY for the head and everything encompassed, eyes, mouth, etc.) I'm just out of steam to work on this anymore currently.
remember to check that you didnt left folders or layers hiden on live2d
