How will questing be in ashes? If you accept a quest does it give you a way point or will you have to listen to the quest giver for the info to complete the quest and read quest info etc. To many waypoints makes a game feel like a honey do list rather than an adventure game. What are your thoughts?

Language support is determined by the amount of demand for that language and the support Intrepid can supply for it. Right now Intrepid are committed to supporting English, German, French and Russian. Other languages are being considered based on demand and available support.

Most mmo's i have played make me traverse through different regions to gain experience and fight more powerful foes. in ashes if all the regions/(nodes) level up as people play in them could i potentially not need to ever leave a node to get to max level effectively?
as far as it's been explained, technically yes if you're lucky enough that the node you decided to make your "main node" is the one in the region that levels up to metropolis then you would never have to leave it to get high level mobs. That being said, not all nodes will spawn the same dungeons/monsters, so it's possible you'll need to go elsewhere for some specific drops. Plus, your node might end up getting destroyed and drop back down to lvl 0, at which point you'll need to go somewhere else for high level mobs until it levels back up
Sounds like your professions will necessitate that you go to other nodes for different resources, such as the animal handling skill to get certain phenotypes for breeding.
I truly believe in this game and am so excited to see it come to fruition. So I bought a bundle pack to support Ashes last May, I spent $500.00. I got access to Alpha one and some cool cosmetics and embers. I want to find out all of the other things that were associated with that purchase. I logged into the Ashes website and saw my transaction history but don't know how I can see order details. Does anyone know a way to do this?

You could definitely do piratey things. But there is no black powder planned. Things like possible pistols and cannons to fit out your rp needs would be magic based. If you are talking about as a pvp mechanic, then yes, attacking others boats is confirmed.

Yes, He was their Lead Game Developer at the time he made those statements. He and Steven worked closely together to build the game so his statements also reflected Steven's creative design. Until something that comes out and says "no" it is the best information we have. However - keep in mind that is very old data (4-years almost) and it could be scrapped or moved to a later timeline. For the shipyard profession, what is the number of ships that can be created if we decide to be professionals in this? And will they have accessories like cannons? Or will there be various types of ships such as trade or war that we can make? Will the ships have cabins in which we can get into and furnish? or just roll?

- The number of ships that can be created? As many as you have the materials for. You wont be controlling more than one at a time. They have various accessories planned that affect various stats when you build the ships. There are several classes of ships. Whether ship have internal design decorations has yet to be announced. The only reference I remember to this is that you won't be living on one like a houseboat.

You can add suggestions for features in its own thread and see what feedback you get. Livestream questions submitted are always answered, if not in the livestream, in the same thread later by CM staff (provided there is an answer they can or want to give). And all livestreams are put on Youtube usually within a day of broadcast, no need to be there live.

The game is awaiting it's alpha 2 phase. A1 took place last year and some footage from that can be looked up. We don't have a release date / future test dates yet.
The cosmetics in the pre-order packs rotate monthly and are only available during their month. There's no p2w stuff. The other things in the preorder packs are game time that doesn't get used until post launch, access to testing phases, and embers (in game shop currency for cosmetics).

so in gathering you could master lumberjacking and taming for example
you cant master professions in different branches, so you cant master taming and jewlcrafting for example because they are in different branches

Well I’m definitely going to play once it’s out I have high hopes. If I don’t get cosmetic items now will I be able to get the after the game is released at some point. That’s my concern atm. Like I don’t want to really reach into my pockets until I can be in game playing.

Now that we know the animal husbandry system will take different physical characteristics and give the user the capability to blend the looks… how will cosmetics play a part in this system? A proposed system for the freehold mechanics is having NPCs that do various tasks, from manning the counter in your tavern selling consumables to guards and others. When you "hire" those npcs, you would be able to customize them. It is something they want to do, but yet to confirm.

Ashes Apocalypse was indeed the battle royal mode, but it was only used to test the backend systems and action combat for the mmorpg. There are currently no plans to bring it back. The last information we had is that the military node leaders would be chosen based on arena battles

You can never get the previous monthly cosmetics (once they go, they are gone forever). When you purchase a pack you get the current monthly cosmetics with it and the future monthly cosmetics can be purchased as individual items

They added teleporters just for testing because the ship mechanics have not been coded in. Once the game is live there may be options similar to the "faster travel" proposed for stables between neighboring nodes, but they want people to mainly have to get places on their own and not avoid open world conflict.
Do you plan to make a Spanish section in the discord for guilds and such? We are also many Spanish-speaking fans of this great game and so we would have a way to organize ourselves in the nodes and clans and others

So you don't consider the Spanish as potential users of the ashes of creation? If you gave more visibility to Spanish content creators, you would have many, many lovers of mmorpg more than France, since we are not talking only about Spain, but about all the Spanish-speaking countries.
They are def. potential users. But for now, if we were to add additional languages sections, we would have to make sure that we can provide support for them, e.g. mods and CMs. Spanish channels are something you'll likely see closer to launch

How does the death penalty work?
When a player dies they disintegrate into ash. The ashes contain any items lost by the player due to applicable death penalties. These ash piles are immediately lootable by any player. Player flagging is not triggered by looting.

I read the wiki article about player death linked above. Exactly how hard would it be to recover from dying a few times, assuming you run around and get killed by another player a few times or something?
Each death would incur experience debt and loss of gatherables. You could recoup the gatherables if no one loots your ash pile but you would need to get exp to work off the exp debt.
Any player can loot your ash pile as soon as you die. You also don't lose levels like in SWG so you won't lose power when recovering from exp debt.

You do not lose levels, but you do lose combat effectiveness.

- Lower gear proficiency.[6]
- Reduction in drop rates from monsters.[10]
So how do you get back to your health/mana/stat level before dying?
To work off experience debt, you have to gain experience through any of the game mechanics that gain you experience.
And in return, working off experience debt will bring your health and mana maximums back upwards to what they should be.

well at a minimum you will need to pass the ue5 specs
i have a 1080ti which ran the alpha 1 test flawlessly, but things are always subject to change, better to judge it closer to release
if steven can run the current build on ue5 on a rtx 2080 with 60+ frames in 4k you don't need to sweat it :3
i do think that the optimisation of the game is one of the team's big priorities

i'm not sure how popular 4k really is, but to add context for my 1080ti claim, i run 2560 which is "quad hd"

Currently no. The only option at this moment to get into the Alpha 2 testing phase when it launches is to pay for a pack.
Intrepid normally does run some fun little competitions and sometimes random drawings for Alpha keys - but those are normally during their stream events.

There are 3 types of housing. Freeholds and static in-node housing would be enterable without a loading screen but you may need permissuon from the owner before you can just open the door and walk in. The instanced apartments would have a loading screen.
The pack changes every month. The pack only just changed so the next change isn't until May 11th

you can swim between continents but itll take a while to traverse and will be faster in a boat/water mount. You can drown if you stay in the water and dont go up to breathe

i have a question about cross server activities , i hear that pvp/arena might be cross-server (i really hope it will be cross-server) but what about pve , will there be any cross-server dungeons ? or like pve raids on very hard and big dungeons where players across multiple servers can create a squadron or idk and take on the dungeon ?
i am kind of a megaserver fan , i understand that mega server don't work with the gameplay of this game but i hope there will be a lot of cross-server activities in both pvp and pve

There's no plans for cross server dungeons that we know of
The large majority of dungeons (80%) in Ashes of Creation are open-world, they're not instanced, so it wouldn't be possible to do cross-server with them

my friend played an mmo with an anti grief system and the player created new characters so the enemy aoe kills those new players and their corrupts goes from 0% to 100% and then take their stuff how are they gonna counter that ?
I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you're talking about surrounding yourself with low level chars created by yourself to have a "human shield"; that would require multi boxing and is not allowed
There will be settings you can turn on or off that will allow you to become corrupt. It should stop the accidents I think.
You have to press a specific button for your AoE's to hit enemies
if it's not toggled then your AoE's won't hit people

Yeah as Talents noted, it's not allowed to have multiple clients open on the same pc or use scripts to automate the movement on other pcs. So having an effective human shield wouldn't really work

Other guilds and some extra people. They could give up ownership of the castle if they wanted to take a break. They could also ignore the sieges leading up to the castle siege if they were super confidant in defending the castle in the last week without needing the bonuses from winning the castle node sieges.

That's the current plan with the potential for it to increase to 500 v 500 if they can get the networking in a good enough state

I have a question about Tanks. Will we have different size shield? And if so will the type of shield effect defense, threat, etc.?

every item has different stats on it, so different types of shields will likely affect a lot of different stats
It might be a little complicated though since although you don't get new abilities, some of the abilities radically change they way they work. Like the fighter Rush becoming a blink means that the talent points have to be pretty generic like Cooldown times, damage boost, etc.
Like it might be tricky to make the talent points also fundamentally change the way a skill operates and the secondary archetype also does that
augments wont change the levels of the skills themselves

So I am reading this right, the secondary archetype when chosen open up 4 schools of augmentation:

plus you get augments from race, religion, and social org
And you get a skill point allotment so you obviously can't augment every single skill it sounds

If you are looking for a full game experience then go for a beta key. Alpha will still be testing systems and backend structure and more about supporting the devs imo.

Theyre open world but people who don't have permission can't open the door to the house portion of the freehold nor can they use the profession stations that are on the freeholds land. You can still walk onto someone else's freehold plot even without permission

there is no rules that says you cant but you dont start with 300 guild spots and if you want all the guild perks you will only have like 50 guild spots 300 is only if you pick the higher guild memeber cap perks

So with the mechanics of corruption and such people can lose their gear if they get fully corrupted
The corruption effect progress faster with an high level difference
But what will stop high level players to ditch all their good armor and weapons and beating low level players?

You could at least get sort of close. A lot of the games armor is about right for the time period, Intrepid have previously released multiple boats close to Viking ones. You could pillage a settlement for resources to take home (Go win a node siege). You could have a farm, but no guarantee the crops exactly match. I think building appearances are currently where you might have some trouble, but it seems like the kind of thing Intrepid could easily offer if they wanted.

Ashes will have a hardcore RP community i reckon. Ashes has the mechanics and ability to cater towards Rpers. Such as taverns and tavern games, player housing and other stuff. To RP on an MMO you still have to progress like everything else but you heavily focus on a character and incoporate emotes and such for more immersion. The thing is, there wont be dedicated RP servers like wow. (As far as im aware) So you'll be mixed in with the pvx community too.

As an rp guild leader I have to say, we play the game many times just as hardcore as any of the top tier raiding or pvp guilds. The difference is we also have story and from time to time we use game mechanics to act out an rp. Could be raiding a dungeon as a mission, or maybe we're patrolling an area around our area of influence taking out bandits or in the case of ashes fighting pkers for dominance of an area.
@spring vault That sounds pretty awesome actually, love giving backstory to my characters and stuff. Just dont always love typing out the blushes and giggles a little kind of rp where every action needs asterisks haha. most of my RP experiance is way back in 2007 on myspace roleplaying as a dbz fighter fighting other people and describing landscapes and my actions lol i assume its nothing similar

Any class can use any weapon, just some with lesser ability. So if you got that unique legendary, you could indeed make a build around it.

alts will be as viable as a main account if you put in the same effort expected from a main to reach that state
alts arent getting any special treatment that allow them to level faster or perform as well as a main account with less effort. treat an alt as equivalent to a main.

Alts will probably be particularly bad at filling Artisan role gaps, they don't get their own freehold for access to profession buildings and don't get access to citizenship for upper tier crafting benches and reliquary crafting mats (unless you give up access to that stuff on your main)

A Node is meant to be able to hold about 1000 in combat players, it could presumably go over that if a lot of people were just standing around in town, and anyone in their apartment wouldn't count towards the number.
In terms of how many players can a node house the answer is trickier, There have to be at least 15000 apartments available on a developed server theoretically, lvl 3 nodes only have 50 apartments with number available ramping up at lvl 4 nodes, Wild speculation assumes lvl 4 has 200, lvl 5 has 800, and lvl 6 has 3200 to reach that 15000 number.
If roughly 10% of the land goes to freeholds we'd be looking at about 185 freeholds per node (not counting ZOI expansion and I assume you don't want that). For in node housing it starts off at 8 plots at lvl 3, I'll assume it gains 8 more per node level for 32 at metro stage, so 3200+185+32=3,417 max players housed within a node - I think there's a wide margin of error in how off this number could be.

I don't know if you can set your freehold or housing as a respawn point. Might be a good question to ask for the next dev livestream @analog galleon But yes you can apply skins to the freehold buildings.
It should be noted that all the cosmetics you see in the "monthly cosmetic" pictures are just skins, and have to be applied to other items
As far as respawn is concerned even if they did make it so you could respawn at your freehold it would most likely still have to be the closest respawn to where you died at. You wouldnt be able to choose it over another because they are trying to avoid mechanics where you can fast travel.

You can only purchase cosmetics while they're currently being sold each month. For example, the current pack lasts until May 11th. Once the pack disappears on May 11th, this months cosmetics will never be available again
Hello! In alpha 1 we had icons on the map indicating where nodes could develop. Will there be these same marks at launch or that was just to "guide" where people could go test stuff?
Most things are still work in progress, so Intrepid could change the icons. Points of interest will be marked on your map, determined by node progression, and you'll have to explore through an area to get those marks. Dungeons, world bosses, and corrupted areas are listed as examples of some things that get marked to the map.
