Whatever the packs offer is what you can buy in the future. Wayfarer only contains the accessory so you can only buy future accessories. Voyager Plus contains all the cosmetics so you can buy all the cosmetics in the future

Any idea if the cosmetics we purchase are dyeable?

I believe this is class restricted, like Rogues would apply DoTs and Fighters would stun.

It's hard to say about that. The tank class had a DoT and a stun but some of the skills seemed like they weren't made for the tank class. There are weapon skill trees so it will most likely be under that side of things rather than on the class side though. We still have yet to see.

I'd assume so. Wouldn't make much sense for a Dwarf to have the same size Great Axe as a Ren'kai Orc
“Sense” would actually be to use the same size model, imo. Should even have modifiers to reflect the size, making it slower but more damaging if bigger, and vice versa. But instead, “magic resizer for everyone!” 😉
Since they've said most of the best gear will be craft able, how would be "magic resizer for everyone" if a sword is being made for a character? Same sword fitted for different characters makes sense, and what you're suggesting would be a obnoxious to program, especially if you take extensive character creators into account where someone might make a very large character or small one.
They have racial modifiers for your clothing and armor so I can see it resizing for weapons

Meaning an orc that picks up a massive dagger will have a weapon that does less damage than the tiny little long sword the dwarf is holding. Sad, but likely.
I think you misunderstood what I meant. Both Talent and I are talking from development perspective, it makes sense to do the resize model to the character. What you're asking for would be massively more time intensive and could lead to many more issues than benefits. Also I brought up that items could be tailored to fit the character, and plenty of in universe reasons better than the snarky "magically resizing".
I dont know... an epic longsword of destruction wielded by the hefty orc chieftain should not be scaled down to fit into the tiny hands of a Nikua....

It could be done “more easily” by simply having a size value. If the item is made with a higher size, it lowers the base speed but increases the base damage, and vice versa. So three stat numbers needed and lock the graphic to the size stat instead of resizing dynamically to the character model. It would not take additional development resources, imo.

right I was just trying to figure out if that was also applied to the freehold itself since the cosmetic is supposed to be apart of the blueprint when its first created.
I would assume the worst case scenario for that, is you have a dedicated character that manages the freehold and switches out the cosmetics freely, only problem I can see as the system is described is if you want to pass the freehold cosmetics between your characters (which there shouldn't be a need to do since they share the freehold).

Guilds / Guild Wars aren't directly tied to node level - If you did something like drive a guild out of an area the node they resided in could have less people / resource income and might decay down a level. The only way I could see that resulting from a guild war would be if you took another guilds 'Guild Fortress' and they decided to move somewhere else where there was a fortress they thought would be obtainable to them.

It means the outcome is not know until it touches the ground. In this case, the Guild Fortresses are up in the air because the devs haven't decided on their inclusion yet.

The scrolls needed to siege a node. I can't find any information on whether or not they can only come from another node. It doesn't sound like it because guilds would be spread across several, if any, and the person who started the siege can't keep others from joining.
They are crafted by an individual, not a node. Have prereqs to start the questline based on size and type of node. And no, you can not keep others from joining. Again, guilds do not control nodes and those systems, they are meant to function more in the pvp area and have whole systems they can affect. Like the pvp castles.

What if I had a 500 man guild that I, as the mayor, only sold plots for homes to and no one else in order to control the voting and then also because of my numbers (relative to the surrounding nodes) my guild was the one to first level up in the area and thus become the patron node?

There has been extensive discussion on this. I recommend browsing the forums with targeted keywords to find past days long threads. Basically many of the nodes systems cannot be controlled or "locked out" by the virtue of being in a guild. So you may indeed have influence, even great influence, but your well crafted plans of domination may go awry in many ways.
in addition, I don't believe it's ever been shared that a mayor would have direct control over who is able to buy housing (especially apartments) in their territory
so they wouldn't necessarily be able to exert an outsized influence on who is a citizen

I remember Steven saying in a video that the mayor cannot destroy the freeholds however he did explicitly use the example of accidentally destroying an apartment. The reason why he used this example was because he wanted to explain what would happen to your items inside if the mayor did that.
Unlike node housing, and possible apartment sales (not confirmed), freeholds have a separate progression system that does not allow for them to be sold "as is" Also, only one of four types of nodes relies on citizen population as a means of control.
Which was that they'd be mailed to you, so no harm done.
also, "voting" in that sense is only for scientific nodes. other node types have other ways of determining mayorship

Not the richest, but who bothers to bid on it. Whether those are blind bids or not is still to be determined. Being the highest balance individual does not mean you automatically become mayor.

nothing, same as what would stop an individual from getting other intrepid individuals to donate to them to fight such a large force 😉
but again, that's an individual in the position of mayorship. there's been nothing that's shared that they can designate "special status" to their then guild members in the node
So in a way, guilds can control nodes. I'm not trying to be smart here, really. I just have noticed that what a mayor can do is pretty powerful and when combined with a decent sized guild they become even more powerful. That's all.

An example from NW. (I know, bad example). We had a guy on our server who was a guild leader. Pumped the tax rate on the territory they controlled. Then transferred all the guild balance to personal balance. Quit guild, and then server transferred with the money. Almost all of those things are not possible from how Ashes has said they plan to structure it.
Certainly, but I think that some vulnerabilities do exist in this. It'd be... wrong for there not to be things that could be exploited (for lack of a better word).
Yes, it is almost impossible for them to find and close every exploit. People are crafty. Everyone knows developers plan for people to act in certain ways with systems, and the people break them. It is how nimble they are to react to those, and how extensive their testing phases are to root out those exploits that all for "unintended results" that will determine success. Intrepid has spent years tweaking systems as best they can from a development perspective, and once they go live for testing have reacted quite fast to squash those bugs and player crafted exploits. Will the system ever be "perfect?" Probably not, but they are at least trying and give the impression that they care more than some larger shops.
I think the larger issue, truthfully, isn't that these are bugs or exploits. Rather that Steven has said he'd like to be as hands off as possible concerning things of this nature. Controlling the political destiny of a group or node is counter to this (aside from the node being predetermined in its kind), and I take umbrage with the mindset that we should just play a certain way rather than an unconventional methodology that doesn't break the ToS.

Depending on what you mean by "latest." Testing for the next long while will be spot tests with the A1 client with specific mechanics thrown on top of it that they want to shake out before adding to the A2 client. Husbandry will be in A2, just whether it is in at the start or later is the question no one has an answer for yet. Even if it is there from the beginning, it will evolve and change over the course of that next alpha cycle.
Packages with A2 access are available on their shop, but realize it could be several months before you get to "play"

Question regarding the Tank class, will they be getting a skill to immobilize enemies like a paralysis skill?
Currently the tank has stuns and knockdowns in their kit, and they'll probably get more CC later on @burnt mist
They also had skills that seemed related to other melee classes such as a bleed maybe meant for rogue and the charge knockdown from warrior. Most of the skills that seemed suited for tank were knockdown, damage reduction buffing, and threat generating.
what exactly is going to drop when you die? just basic crafting mats or would legendary mats that come from end game gathering or the .001% drop rate from a raid boss also drop on death? and will there be anyway to protect your inventory?

Yep, only completed goods are completely safe. So, don't hold onto legendary mats long term without crafting with them.
It means a legendary mat farm doesn't end when you get the mat but when you get to town and process it. I do wonder if dragon scales were meant to drop during the alpha 1 month long test though.

If you want to lose as little as possible then yeah, it's best to at least try to fight back, but if you want to either play a game of chicken with the attacker you could just stay as a non-combatant to see if they'll actually kill you and become corrupted

When you attack back, you flag. There is no "turning on pvp flag" Your default state is non-combatant. Only by initiating a targeted attack on someone do you "flag", that state goes away automatically after a set period of time after pvp combat ends. (was around 30-60 seconds during testing, they are still playing with the timer) Corruption however does not time out.

Yes, at least before launch once A2 officially starts (A2 becomes PTR server after launch and stops being A2, I have no idea how PTR access will work post launch) - Note that the A2 contest keys don't include B1/B2 access (So you could only play on A2 server when betas are running unless you acquire beta access another way)

The two main new features regarding graphics are Nanite and Lumen. These are the names of the technology that makes everything look so good. Using them is optional, though, so you can use UE5 with e.g. all developer benefits regarding open worlds. but still have graphics of UE4. This is not unlikely since is means they don't have to reiterate over everything built so far and completely change its look.
it opens up the possibility to use that technology in the future, though, or use it only for certain meshes
Future proofing sounds excellent, I suppose as well the Unreal space will be focusing heavily on their newly built toy so UE4 will be left in the dust at some point, just in regards to features alone, not just graphics.
Once UE5 is released, so far, there are no more updates planned for UE4. They worked a lot to make upgrading as easy as possible, though.

Quick question related to the freehold skins, won't some towns be a huge mishmash of various architecture? 😄 One street will have a winter house, next door neighbor will have some fiery tower etc? Not saying i am opposed to it, but some cities could look really funny this way.
The building skins are for player freeholds only, not for Node settlements (towns, cities...)

Say I've got a significant amount of resources and items. It cannot all be contained on my person, not even close. Yet I choose to (or are forced to - please don't get hung up on this, I beg you) to move to Stage 0 to a Stage 2 node. I also don't have a Freehold because, I dunno, there are no more remaining on the server. Just stick with me here. What do I do with all of my items? Material cannot go into warehouses, and I don't have a chest to put my spare mats into it. And caravans only last for a short period of time after you log off. If I'm in this situation, where can I put my excess items?

Do we have an idea of how many servers there will be (per region) for release? There were about 6 for each US region in alpha 1. My concern is over saturation of servers similar to what New World is running into.

Past statements have been that if they ever did decide to allow server transfers they would be painful from a monetary and restriction sense. Like you would not be taking things that would affect the economy of the other server. Things like server unique legendaries would also not come. They don't want people transferring willy nilly because they mad about pvp loss or some such.

Does anyone know if AOC will have a system similar to clue scrolls in OSRS?
Incase you're not familiar clues are dropped from PvM and allow the player to go on a treasure hunt. They're really fun, multiple step activities with varying levels of danger and some are gated behind skill level and unlocked content. Mostly cosmetic awards although some items are useful in PvM on certain account builds.

Do we know if there is going to be any kind of combat combinations? Kind of like how Guild Wars 2 has with certain abilities opening up for combos and finishers with added effects(AoE Heal/Cleanse, Fire Arrows if show through a trail of fire, etc), or FFXI's Skill Chains and Magic Bursts. I'd like to see something similar, to give players more strategic synergy with certain abilities/skills.

There is no official statement on the release currently. When they started their kickstarter in 2016 the initial plan was a Release late- 2019, but the current community estimation for the release is around 2023-24.

You have points that you need to invest into skills. At level 10 you might have 10 points for example. You can either choose to invest points into lots of skills, or invest those points into the skills you've already unlocked in order to "upgrade" the unlocked skills

They expect the start of a server to be relatively similar in regards to all the areas near the starting zones to level first

so I was just looking over stuff in the wiki and came upon the monster coins section. Is there really going to be a way to disable certain buildings and npc services with monster coins? That seems like a bit much for something that will be sold in the shop.
Read more in depth. Those penalties happen when players fail the event. It is random where it occurs, cannot be targeted. Your being able to purchase them in the shop vs finding them in game will have zero impact on whether the event is won or lost from a player perspective.
If you want a badly implemented example, as so many things that New World "discovered" during development, they have the same thing with their "invasions" that "delevel" a settlement. Thing is, unless the invasion is bugged currently, no one ever wins. Those are purely AI controlled, Ashes will have the option of players participating on the monster side.
Which is the part that worries me. A player controlled dragon could wipe the floor with a large raid where as an npc dragon is predictable and can be kited. If a player takes over a strong monster for an event and wins, they then impose penalties to a nearby town. Being able to buy them on the fly makes it somewhat pay to win as you can buy a coin when you see an event near a town you wish to mess with in order to make things harder for enemy players.
They have said who is selected for participation is random server wide. And some will not always have top tier monsters available. Most if not all concerns have been addressed over the intervening years, loopholes found and closed, and we have yet to even test the system. There are plenty of us that will hold Intrepid to task to make sure it has not even the slightest whiff of p2w or exploits by the time it is released.
Spending money to increase the chances of a lasting effect on your opponents economy is definitely significant though. Even if we get rid of exploits and bugs, there's still the fact that a human could use skills in better ways that the ai will and the battle has in game repercussions. Compare that to everything else mentioned to be in the shop, it has an actual impact on gameplay while the rest is purely cosmetic.

you cant specify you wish to attack node X at time Y
but you can choose to use a coin at y time when an event is happening at x node
I guess it depends on how rare the coins are because if they aren't easy to get then there won't really be a queue
it also depends on how difficult it is to control the monsters
all of this will be tested in upcoming phases and it will be tuned or even thrown out entirely if nobody likes it
Honestly I can see it saying you won't be able to use a coin bought during an event
or removing the repercussions if a player participates in a monster event. They remove the drops for player controlled monsters so I don't see why they should have a downside on failure.
I dont see your issue here, so many games have the ai invasions that all turn out lackluster and boring because its impossible to tune it properly, especially when people start exploiting the ai. This system all but guarantees theres going to be player controlled monsters(which sounds really fun btw) which also makes it more challenging from the defending side. If anything the town should get a bonus based on the number (and maybe type) of player controlled monsters.
If you removr repercussions the invasion basically becomes pointless, as the only reason to go there will be loot, and i imagine it wont be very high end loot from them , making them irrelevant at some point to players
So you r1isk having some invasions with only a couple defending players , who lose the invasion as a result and nothing happens afterwards.

Just because a player can control a monster better doesn’t mean a monster suddenly becomes overpowered. A player controlling a boar is only going to do boar things…maybe even dance a little which would be fun. As far as a dragon level monster controlled by a player…still can only do so much 🤷♂️ utilizing abilities better doesn’t mean it’s going to be impossible to beat, honestly doesn’t even mean it will be too much harder. If you’ve played any MOBAs, you know for darn sure people still improperly use abilities.

I can't decide on one single class they all look great to me so far.. can we have some kinda job system similar to ffxiv.. cuz to be honest that's one of the best systems for handling classes I've seen in any game.. I kinda kno the answer already, but thought to ask anyway..
Imo, having more than one class on a single character in such a heavy RPG and immersion-focused game like AoC would be a mistake. I love FFXIV but they really are two completely different games for all that they share similarities.
What do you think is the best way to describe AoC's approach to their game when compared to other games?

Has Steven or anyone talked about defenders betraying other defenders during the course of a node siege? The wiki basically just steps over this major point of contention.
I think I may have glazed over it, but only people who are part of the node that's being sieged are labeled as defenders, right?
For all intents and purposes it sounds like attackers can still attack one another since you can't stop other people attacking your node, so that could translate into "defenders" attacking attackers (i.e. people from other nodes attacking the people who are genuinely attacking the node even though they are both labeled attackers).
The affiliation system is not simple. Others can align with a nodes defenders. It is unlikely that attackers will be able to kill other attackers
In Alpha-1 was there an easy way to visualize when someone was marked as a defender/attacker during a siege, even if you hadn't attacked them yet?

So recently I've been contemplating creating an Empyrean Spellsword/Spellshield to bring over a character concept from a WoW Character I've had for a few years, and I began to wonder if the Intrepid team used the Warcraft Spellbreakers as a starting point while they crafted the class, leading me to wonder if we'd ever see an armor design inspired by the spellbreakers like in this character design from Heroes of the Storm.
It's impossible to answer that question as we haven't seen anything related to secondary class combos yet, and won't until all the primary archetypes are in the game.

To place a freehold you have to buy a certificate from the node or other players. Those are limited in number by the stage of the node

Follow ups: Is the pve system going to be able to support the stereotypical raid progression teams? Or are raids going to be not as difficult given that you can only loot from them for a finite amount of time before the landscape changes?
Short answer: we dont know yet. Long Answer: There are 2 types of raid content, firstly instanced dungeons that are centered around story and secondly open world dungeons which you addressed. We dont know how raids will even fit into those dungeons. Is the raid content just the boss at the end? Does the dungeon reset the player so you need to grind your way through trash to get to the boss faster than other guilds? We dont know exactly. Also dungeon and raid content is supposed to scale with the group´s previous performances. So hopefully bosses wont be a push-over. Also the landscape shift only happens once a node levels up, so can loot as much as you want, but the layout and bosses will change when the world progresses. fighter is a melee class, but if u take ranged subclass u bacome a bow and range attacks focused fighter, can ur whole abilties change its working style or it will only be a tweak of mechanics?
no archetype is strictly melee or ranged. every archetype has a melee and ranged weapon slot. a warrior might get an augment that allows them to throw a spear instead of thrusting with it or add a mark to an enemy when you use your headcrack skill as an augment. the secondary archetype only ever alters it doesnt add.

How quickly will the corruption debuff apply? I’m asking because if someone fights off one or more players and kills one, do they immediately gain a debuff and make fighting off the numbers more difficult?
you only become corrupted if you kill a pve tagged player. if everyone is pvp tagged in the fight then no corruption is gained on yours or their death.

I just remember seeing something about green names turning purple due to defending themselves and I didn’t know if they got debuff immediately from corruption making it harder to combat ganks.
So it’s an attack green to turn into a red name only? I thought killing purple names only gave less corruption sorry if I’m just misunderstanding what I read 😅
