  • How can one participate in the beta, do you have to cough up money, is it open to everyone or do you keys some other way?
  • What happens to progress made in beta?

Beta key giveaways will be another way to get access via the content creator giveaways
Progress will be wiped, nothing carries over to launch

In some games ping is more important for high paced combat styles, so it may depend on the role you intend to have in Ashes
However there are other games that also are very forgiving and playable with high ping
Ashes is planning for a higher TTK but it is best to wait before really making any final decisions with how important ping is in Ashes

So Blizzard for example has 2FA but that sometimes still doesnt stop people in WoW from accessing/ "hacking " others accounts and you just lost all progress potentially. i wasnt sure if there were plans beyond 2FA.
Edit: Also Steam uses 2FA and i still see some of my friends accounts get taken from time to time by scammers

Game is a few years out. Alpha 2 cost 250 and the betas are cheaper but still pretty pricey. Your best is waiting if cost is a concern. The game is fully funded so there is no pressure either way. If you do end up deciding to buy access to a test you gain access to the other phases that come after, cosmetics, a few months worth of sub time (sub fee costs $15 a month) and potentially a name reservation.

Yeah, it's a pretty legit alpha and most testing so far has been focused on making the game work with lots of people in one spot

So if you're tempted by that 500 alpha pass just know lots of it will be making a new character, running around doing the same thing as the last few tests for a bit, devs pulling you somewhere to test something like spawning 5000 bears with the entire server population next to them, and your progress being wiped. It's a test more so than 500 dollars to play the game

But you will be helping the devs a lot with the data and feedback you provide, and you will see improvements overtime, you'll see how far they come in a relatively small amount of time.

I would recommend logging out, or trying another browser. If you are trying to do it from you phone. Don't. Those are the things I have seen most people complaining about for hang up problems. If those do not fix your issues, then file a customer service ticket and they will get you sorted.

If it's an in-game set, I do believe previously it's been stated that there may be more racial influence changes between them. If it's a cosmetic set, it's more the body type that gets changed to adapt to the different racial sizes.

the flagging system seems abusable to me

assuming i attack a weaker lower level player, i could either wait until he attacks back (which he is encouraged to do so due to reduced penalties when dying) and thus becomes a combatant.
i would then no longer become corrupt cuz he was a combatant

or if i notice he isnt fighting back, ill simply hit him down to 80% health to scare him off.

Yeah, you could scare someone off that way, which I think would be the better result than that player dying, losing gatherables, and getting an xo debt.

I am more worried about players getting their friends to kill them after gaining corruption and trading back their gear.

What do we know about the difficulty of the game? I know there’s gonna be some pretty bad death penalties. Does that mean death won’t be that common? My only reference is black desert online where you lose xp and crystals socketed in your gear (which can cost a lot). And dying in bdo is a very rare occurence. Basically if you are in the right spot for your level/gear u will never ever die.

the game is still in pre alpha, the prices will be for the varying levels of testing you want to do. from Alpha through to Beta tests. Its not really a game to test if you just want to play the game currently as its still very much a "technical Alpha" test. so far as i know the game is only available through intrepids own website and is not available through steam. currently only the people with a1 access have anything to download too. if i've missed anything here im sure someone better than me can fill you in more 🙂

yea, the different packs give you access to different tiers of the alpha/beta. At the same time, you get in game cash and game time for release, so if your unsure, just w8 it out and buy one of the cheaper packs closer to launch. I am not gonna consider getting into it until at least Beta 1 or Beta 2.

From what we know so far, other then the starting mount that you get early on from a quest, taming/breeding is the main source of new mounts. There will be some VERY RARE mounts that can drop from raids, but those will be temporary flying mounts that will "die" after a certain period of time, so not like WoW where you can collect them

It's unknown if there will be achivement that reward mounts, if I had to take a guess I would probably say that achivement are more likely to award mount SKINS, but they haven't said anything on that front as far as I know

Yes and No, A2 should be more complete than A1, but the sieges may say fire with more intended to be final timing (aka less often), or Intrepid could decide they don't like the dragons involved in siege and just make them separate world bosses or something, Intrepid will likely do some touch ups of the A1 area (like maybe they'll do something to revise some of the dead end paths in water dungeon), but the A1 area should still be there in general for A2.

Maybe not the place to ask this, and probably quite difficult to have this answered, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I am interested in applying as a Quest Designer, culminating all my experience as a DM and various Game Manager positions in a variety of video game roleplay servers. That being said, I do not have a kept log of many of the quests I've provided, and many of my dungeons I've designed and ran have been deleted. I also do not have explicit experience as a game designer. I would still like to utilize my ability as a storyteller and DM to join the Ashes development community in storytelling. I considered rewriting much of my past quests and dungeons to include in my portfolio, and taking screenshots of my current online Roll20 campaign.

Would this be considered valid enough to put the effort in to doing so, or would I be applying for a lost cause? Considering I don't have any "official" or "professional" experience as such, I wasn't sure if my experience playing MMOs, running D&D, and running RP servers would constitute enough experience to be worth applying. Anyone know if it may be worth it, or have contact with someone in the hiring department who would be able to clarify if my experience would even be considered for the position?

Correct me if I am wrong, but while you will not be able to get the specific alpha monthly cosmetics, I recall Steven mentioning in a previous stream that you will be able to earn cosmetics like it, but with a different colour etc. The specific theme i.e black & red might be limited and unobtainable, but a blue & white version might appear in the game to be obtained.

In that case, the boar you wanted should be obtainable, just not that specific colour variation.
