When they were still going to have My.Games publish in the EU there were some issues they were having to dance around with location registration of accounts. Since they have decided to self-publish in the EU, those have gone away. Want to play on one server in NA, and play on another in EU, and another in OCE? Go for it. Realize that your freehold is account locked and you will only have one of those on one of those 3, but if you really wanted to do that, you could.

Right now raiding in ESO, I wish Intrepid would add a Spectator-mode for instanced content: while 10-20 people are raiding, others could join and just watch. This also would be great experience for such spectators just to roam the instance in an invisible-fashion, watching around, grabbing some screenshots or even getting some free-camera videos from there. Only for instances this shouldn't be resource intensive IMO.
There won't be a lot of instanced content in Ashes
from what they've said so far it looks like the instanced content they want to add would be for quests, most of the dungeons and raids/bosses will be in open areas that anyone can join
I saw AI-based approach they are planning. But I wouldn't confuse open-world bosses with instanced content. That'd be extremely deal-breaking for endgame-oriented players not to have instanced raid content.

About nodes, can a guild have many nodes ? How to keep this node ?
A guild can only own Castles ? ( The 5 on the map ? )
guilds can't own nodes, no one does. A node has citizens

An individual can be in charge of a node for a month if they win the node's Mayor position, but their guild affiliation has nothing to do with it, you don't need to be in a guild to be a mayor

What are the benefits of owning a castle ?
You charge taxes to all the nodes within that castles sphere of influene
and the GM gets a flying mount
Castle owners can actually get revenue from the position. Node mayors can't take taxes for themselves, it all has to be reinvested into the node, but Castle owners get a %

Do we know what the benefits of being a node within the influence of a metro is? Seems like you'd always be trying to overthrow the current power. Which I guess can be argued as the point, but I thought there was some form of symbiotic benefits one way or another
Vassal Nodes give excess experience to their Parent Node, and are able to have their own Vassals, as long as they fit within the Parent Nodeβs Zone of Influence. They are subject to the government, alliances, wars, taxes, and trade of their Parent Node, and are able to receive federal aid from them. A Vassal Node cannot declare war on their Parent Node or any of its Vassals. Citizens of Vassals are bound by the diplomatic states of the Parent Node.

yeah.. if you really want to take it down then you have to sign up as an attacker when there's a node siege. if the attack was successful and the parent node's level went down then I believe the vassal can improve and release themselves from being vassals.

Once you buy a pack, you can then buy any cosmetic that is included up to the tier of the same package you bought for the next month and so on and so on.
So for instance, if you bought the Wayfarer pack off the store, you will only be able to buy cosmetics in the wayfarer tier in the next month and so on. @stuck mirage

Do we have any details yet on tanks in pvp? It would be really cool if they added a threat mechanic to players that increases the tanks damage to a target player by an amount based on the tanks threat on a target player
The target can then clear chunks of threat stack by damaging the tank
I mean the tank has threat generating abilities which i presume is mainly for pve to ensure the big bad boss attacks the tank, ut would largely be useless in pvp dmg wise, right?
i think one ability did more damage the more threat you had
so it should kinda work in pvp i think

You can purchase cosmetics individually of the tier you have. So if you've bought a pack that included a pet already then you'll be able to buy the corgi on it's own once it rolls around

I'd say before they even start doing the alpha we shouldn't take anything they say as proof, time and time again publishers and developers all think they can take the strain of thousand if not 100's of thousands of players connecting to their systems and it all break down within hours. I'm going to play it smart, and sit back play the alpha like everyone else, report bugs, and watch it inevitably crash into the ground when that happens. The real test is for intrepid to see how they can handle situations like that when they arise.

And, with growing technology, the system requirements that were expected in 2018 are they going to be a lot higher now? I actually built a new computer last year in prep for this game so I don't really wanna be "to outdated"

With team expansions, we may see time lost due to a variety of circumstances gained back, but the pre-alpha footage we saw of the tropical biome showed a game that would ruin my computer with mentions of a retexture of the water and various other effects.
As for the packages, there is a lot of concept art there and it may not be for everyone, but in the last sev we did see the Corvid Castigator and it looked good to me
I hope they have alternative colours for stuff later on.

The monthly cosmetics are unique variants of items that will be in game. So, it's not JUST that one item necissarily.
Indeed, and in addition, all of these cosmetic items are variants of items we're making in-game, for example keep in mind all your NPCs need to wear armor and you may see those pets and mounts out in the world as mobs π

I think it's a step in the right direction they don't have a solid final game release date, as opposed to delaying because the game isn't ready they will tell us for sure when the game is ready for the full release. They've talked about Beta 1 and 2 being super quick, so I'd keep an eye out for those release dates!

How is gear going to work in general of power? Knowing rarity will exist, will this game be as new content comes out a greater power "ilvl" to gear comes out similar to wow and ffxiv, or handled like FFXI where lower level gear is valuable in some higher end fights, or like GW2 where gear stats remain capped?

you have to get a compatible pet in game first then you apply the skin to that

Yes but the risk there is that if the metropolis you just worked to build for one month gets attacked while you're offline, all of your items are gone. As you said, poof. The whole node resets so all of your chests are gone.

you get plenty of notice of a siege against your metro, you and the hundreds (or thousands) of other people in the metro will have plenty of time to prepare a defense

@dire pond It would probably be better to say that we know a mayor can replace buildings vs destroying them and deliberately leaving an empty plot. The wording the devs have used seems to be "modify".

@hardy bolt imagine you dont like a node stage 6, except for scientific node, the elections are mostly chosen by who works the hardest in the elections quest. So not liking that stage 6 node you could power grind quests and stuff to become mayor. Once your are it (if the mecanic works that way) you could rearrange all buildings in the node so that players dislike it and leave or even you could have more chance to be siege for being a duche.

The only node type where Mayor is decided via quests is Divine. Economic is decided by highest bidder. Military is decided via last man standing PvP match. Scientific is voting.

What you're thinking of is cancelling a spell during it's channel time, that's not the same as animation cancelling. Animation cancelling is where you interrupt the animation of a spell while still actually casting the spell in order to cast new spells a fraction of a second quicker than you normally would be able to.

locked in place means that you can not cast and move with the abilities because moving would cancel the ability, it doesnt mean youre incapable of moving and canceling the skill if need be
its rare for skills to actually make you incapable of moving/canceling that skill mid cast
If you cancel the spell, assuming you can't move while casting, then you are essentially free from the effects of the spell, but you also don't get the damage from the spell as it has been canceled

They intend combat, along with casting spells, to be fluid and mobile. I'm sure you will be abke to cancel spells.
Animation cancelling IMHO is the the worst trash thing that could exists in an mmorpg, I prefer a more slow and reasonable fight hands down
Generally yes this would be the case, cant speak for all of the Ashes skills as we have not seen them but they intend to allow you to cancel the skills just not animations

Spells, from what I've seen, can be cast while moving so that jump probably looks better while moving than it does standing still

Its old, like I said, pre-alpha. So its before the showcase. It has since changed. But its there. If you filter by date and look for pre-alpha mage combat you'll find it. I just watched it the other day. The devs talked about wanting combat to be fluid.

Random question, working on building a new computer, still up in the air for GPUs, AMD or Nvidia for AoC? More optimized for one or the other or still unknown?
I know that the sale of getting into the Alpha 1 is still up in the air, but what i rly wanna know is how much is that upgrade? Do we have any idea or is that totally in the air as well?

Will Necromancers have healing abilities ?
Similar question to that: will there be a healing based tank?
Necro is, Summoner Primary, Cleric Secondary. It will have the abilities of a summoner, and the augments of a cleric. What those augments are and what they do, we have no idea. So..unknown at this time. XD (speaking of)
Cleric secondary was said long ago to have possible self healing, but would not be a group healer. But those were early concepts. The same could be said I guess of a Tank/Cleric, which I think is Paladin.

cuz a cleric augment makes it all seem like self or other heals. not really anything like draining which would be cool
Yes, well Cleric is the master of life and death. So..really it could be anything in either of those categories. You'll have to wait with the rest of us unfortunately.
It will have whatever "skills" a Summoner will have. A Summoner/Cleric (Necromancer) will have the same skills as a Summoner/Bard, Summoner/Tank, Summoner/Fighter etc. just with different augments.
To be an actual Tank you'll need to go Tank primary, so no, Tanks will not have a Drain Health skill, but maybe there will be a Tank skill that self-heals, if not, Tank/Cleric will probably provide some type of self-heal
The showcase of the cleric also doesnt exclusively heal and shows a lot of potential for damage. Can really only speculate the augments from that showcase and how they would translate to a class that summons.

They did say the summoner would be able to summon a tank capable of tanking at least to some capacity though.
It won't be a main tank though, more like an off-tank
Summoner is the jack of all trades role, so it can technically do everything, DPS, Heal, and Tank, just no where near as well as the originals

Yes the legacy tags for discord are no longer being applied including the gm tag.
The only roles you can obtain are...member, nitro, and mod (if chosen and meeting the requirements)
I believe there is also an NDA access role also set as member (with the same color and all) but I don't know that one for sure
Hey I haven't been able to keep up with the dev discussions and what not but wondering...are they aiming at a more action oriented combat system or the traditional tab targeting? Or are they still testing things to get a better handle on it?
Ive noticed that a lot of the players we have seen in any footage of the game, regardless of race, has a sort of slim bulk build. Have they mentioned the ability to change such builds of the character model before? The way elfs look like humans, and humans look like elfs, and even dwarfs look like a human just scaled down seems like a bit of a turn off for me as of now.
@unkempt barn Intrepid's goal is a hybrid between action and tab, we're expecting a combat revamp around March, which won't be the final form either, so things are still very much in testing
@stable plover thanks for the response! Really hoping they lean more towards action...being a long time MMO player the tab system just seems outdated but that's just my opinion!
@solar galleon Intrepid does want to add a lot more ability to customize the current models, like sliders to make them taller/shorter thinner/bulkier etc. I'd expect that to improve as more of the detail work goes in later.
Players will be able to decide between taking up to either 75% action or tab abilities. They cannot take more than 75% of one type so at least 25% has to be the opposing type. E.g. if players go 75% action then they need to take 25% tab abilities.
However they have said that if they can't get the hybrid system working well, they'll just go pure Tab combat.
Here's hoping they can figure out a hybrid system...pure Tab IMO is tried and true I guess...but with other MMO's out there I'm worried it will get lost in the weeds

The nodes have different systems for mayoral apointments
guilds dont appoint mayors, each node hs their own system to appoint a mayor
Only scientific is voting based, the rest are quests for Divine, Trial by Combat for Military and Highest Bidding I believe for Economic

combat is done thru a system where u fight on an even playing field not who has the best gear, so there is always a chance

Do you guys know if there will be more skills at lvl 50 compared to lvl 10? Or you will have about 10 skills and then unlock their tier 2-3 in higher levels?
woudn't that be kind of fustrating though if you have worked hard and been part of a node for months only to have one person take it away from many people

Yes, there is direct player to player trading planned. Unlike other games that have had this as an exploitable workaround to tracking systems, those trades have been said to be in Ashes.

No, I guess an easier or more common way to explain it is, say you want to craft something. You put the materials in the window and the fee. The crafter provides the service, when both are done, both hit ok, and the transaction concludes. Helps with reducing "He stole mah stuff!" GM tickets.

You will be able to do so, but there is a record of it generated.

depends on item, you can't trade raw mats but you can trade silver and possibly finished gear

I would have to go search the wiki for what particular closet Lex and his elves have put those quotes about those planned systems. But they have talked about how Ashes has been built from inception with the idea of tracking all that in mind. Most games that have tried to address issues that can be exploited by gold sellers and RMT have tried to add systems after development and failed miserably. They have promised something different. What remains to be seen is how they have implemented that vision.

Probably. All depends on what frequency and what amounts they have the "heat map" tracking set to whether you get an investigation into your account.
Thank you alot. One more question. If im playing solo and farming for a good gear for example i want a better bow. Is there a percentage of each mob success rate on certain items? Or the system will be totally different and if i want better weapon its better to craft it and etc. I mean: can i drop good gear only grinding mobs?
