Armor will provide damage mitigation cloth gives less than light and so on and so forth. The lighter the armor the more mobile it will be. The heavier, the less.

@exotic abyss Castle siege will be a lot similar to the MMORPG in terms of TTK (Time to kill) and actual HP/mana/stat values based on the class you pick
Skills will also be tied to your class choice and not weapons/armor
Most of the skills in the Castle Siege are also brand new

Yeah, APOC xp is tied to survival, kill number, weapon usage, destroying objects and opening chests. A lot of the quests can be shared, regardless of the difference in gameplay. Just expect a few more siege specific quests tacked on to what’s already there.

They have gone with what they think will work for how they envision people selling, breeding, and trading mounts with their economy setup. Since you can't drop items unless corrupted you will need to make decisions on what you decide to carry with you. Also, any planned mechanic may very well change before launch. If I am a breeder and I know that I can transport 50 color variations of a mule to a node halfway across the map with no risk, how is that fair to the guy moving ingots?

They plan many different kinds of games and items based off of the IP down the line. There is a board game currently in development and they have tried to spin APOC as a separate product from the mmo. No reason why they couldn't go with a comic down the line. Odds are they will need to finish the questlines and lore that they are currently working on so they don't write themselves into a canon box too early. Last thing they want to see is "Well, in issue #4 of the comic they stated this, so that can't happen in the mmo!"

As far as I remember there will be a level range in a way, for example, the deeper you go into the forest, the stronger the mobs there. Dunno bout quests.

There is a mix of content planned. The higher the node level the greater the mix. As Grumpy said, near establish roads and such the plan is for lower level mobs and challenges, the more off the beaten path the more dangerous. Only by building certain assets in the node will certain questlines become available in some cases. And as always, this info was put out in 2017, so may have changed.

@spiral juniper Error 12 seems to usually occur if the game doesn't like the install location or if the hard drive has run out of disk space for the install. I've read some reports of people installing into documents or desktop instead of program files fixing their error 12. You'll probably need to do a clean uninstall/reinstall.
How to perform a clean uninstall
Uninstall Intrepid studios launcher through your control panel.
Delete the APOC folder located in %LocalAppData%

I think mounts will only be usable on one character at a time but the skins can be passed on to other characters on the same account but only one can use at any given time.

The way it has been explained before is that you will have an account "bank" that has all of your skins available. Want to use one, pull it out of the bank, apply to relevant asset, and use. If you want to use that skin on another character you will then pull it off the first asset, put it back in the bank, then take it out and put it on the other characters asset. The mounts in game are actual items that will take up inventory slots when carried around, have weight, and will not be easily tradeable among your characters. (there is a warehousing system planned to move items between alts without providing a workaround to the caravan system, details have not been released). Since husbandry and selling mounts will be a part of the economy it would be grossly unfair if breeders were able to account bank 50 horses for example, log out on that character, log in on their other character in a horse deficient area, and post them for sale. They have stated in the past that the plan is for very limited "BOE, BOP, Soulbound" when it comes to items. Pick up that sword, use it for awhile, then sell it on is part of the plan.

Well i saw it mentioned before, but yeah i'm not too keen on mounts in inventory myself. Would be better to have sort of separate stable like in dragon's prophet, or WoW and summon it from there. Don't need SWTOR style where u had infinite mounts on u, just 3 ~ 6 that u prefer.

@placid vessel its not really 64 classes. It's 8 classes with a secondary class that augments certain abilities. You don't start as a mage and become something totally different by adding rogue. You simply modify some of the mage abilities with rogue augments. This is a very important distinction as once you pick tank/dps/heal/support that is your role forever, and is honestly one aspect that Intrepid needs to look at carefully due to the risks it presents.

In fact in the last couple streams from IS they have actually reinforced the fact that secondary selections are purely augments and gave an example of a melee slash attack getting a different animation and slight behavior change but is still a melee slash attack. I wish they would go more into the design they have in mind so the community can participate in the conversation. It would also make sure people realize you only have 8 classes in the game and you can't respec from tank to dps just by addind dps augments to tanks. I know the design can change, but the later they wait to start the conversation the harder it will be to change that design as it is so core, much like combat earlier will be better even if it starts without hands on to get the ball rolling.

- Tulnar are a mixed race of all the remaining races that fled to the Underrealm to escape the corruption at the surface. Over the course of several thousand years (quotes on exact number vary) they developed a caste society and various blendings. There is no "good" or "evil" faction in Ashes. It is for you to choose how to play your character. No one is locked into a particular alignment or faction side.

The skins you earn in APOC will transfer over to the mmo. While you are right that various wipes and a final wipe during the testing phases are planned before live launch of the mmo, the cosmetics you earn during APOC persist.
Level in APOC is purely for tracking cosmetics. Has no bearing on ability in the phase, and no bearing on your starting level/power in the mmo.

So for example if you had a racial skin you'd need to transfer it from one character to another, but there's nothing preventing you from moving the cosmetic.

I think it goes without saying that Intrepid has a very talented art team. Every month we see new cosmetics that you can buy to support Intrepid and also have in the game when it launches. This seems mainly as a way to support Intrepid because the prices aren't what I would normally expect in a cosmetic cash shop, but that makes sense because the core purpose is to support the development of the game. My question is what reassurance can we have to know that we will have beautifully designed skins/cosmetics in the game that is not part of the cash shop? I personally have already put the amount of money I am comfortable with into the game and do not plan to buy any more cosmetics. The Peak Hound Pup specifically caught my eye, but then I remembered that I wont ever get to use it in game unless I buy it now. Will we have equally well designed stuff for the core game as well? There are various buildings planned to be placed on a freehold. One of them is your residence that you can put your knick-knacks and trophies in. Others like the tavern and profession buildings have skins associated with them too. Novembers is labeled a tavern, Decembers looks to be a residence skin. There will be various permission levels that you can put on your freehold making it private or public for last info given.

APOC did the job it was designed to do. the frustration is just because ppls always need something to fight for. as they got to 50 they just stopped to play, instead as of keep the comunity alive. I know, it is BR, which many dislike inc. me. But it was not bad way to get data and other stuff for devs.

They are correct. That specific model is an exclusive. You will not be able to get it, but there may be other dual-winged creatures in the future that you can attain as a pet through questing, etc.

Okay, if you only have an Intrepid account and you're not looking to migrate or make another, you can play with that Intrepid account either by downloading the client directly from our website, or via Steam!
(rather than through the my.games installer or website, as it appears you may be doing from that screenshot)

I'm on the Steam version, trying to use the AOC account login into the launcher, but the my.games popup won't accept it.
I have never visited my.games' website or the like.
I did play a month or so ago via Steam with no issues. It even shows me as logged in, despite the popup not wanting it.

If you are playing in the EU via Steam, you will be logging in via My.games 🙂
(it automatically pulls up the correct launcher for your region)
If you would like to use just your Intrepid account to log in, and you're connecting from the EU, you can use the standalone launcher from our website instead!

The only thing that happened is, I started the launcher, had to click yes to their terms and blablabla. Once I did so, it loaded the entire thing again and went "boop, account migrated, you can now log in"
And then it refreshed the entire launcher like a webpage, took a while, it loaded. Then suddenly this pop up.
I tried closing and reopening but now it's just stuck like this.
