@dreamy skiff I believe they mentioned the architecture was flawed and it required rebuilding. The previous architecture struggled to handle over 50 players.
They tested out the new architecture during the Feb 7th spot test and managed to get 200 players in a single match
So they are now implementing this new architecture (as it is a key component) into their new build etc.

@lament wing not much is known atm, we do know they want AI to be a bit smarter than normal MMO mob and boss AI. Jeff told me personally he'd like boss AI to be comparable to Monster Hunter World. But as I said not much is known beyond that. Its probably something they'll be talking about after they get the server backend in a better place so stay tuned.

@proven arrow thanks for the reply. 'AI' gets losely used. I don't think we have seen true AI before in games altough i don't know how it is implemented in Monester World. With AI you don't program the actions but program the mind and the creature makes its own decisions. I would see it as a missed chance to not train the AI in alpha/beta, it would be perfect. Im curious about their implementation!

Where the "before 2020" quote was actually referring to Steven talking about the game releasing before the end of the 2020 or something along those lines. I had this opinion for a long time until a few months ago where Steven was being cheeky. Saying he could release the game in December 31st 2019 to still be within the original release period. My question is if misunderstood what was said back during the Kickstarter period, or if I missed an announcement that Ashes was going to release earlier than what was originally expected. Thank you, from a loyal BoW backer.

No, due to an error in the backend, testing has stopped in both Apoc and AoC, and as they said in the recent letters, they will only give dates they are confident they can deliver now, as in when things go into QA testing.

@rigid steppe, afaik, nodes are claimed by the people for the people. they're not meant to be run exclusively by guilds or cliques. so if you join late, you pick the node you most want to be a part of, and you work to make it great. (and potentially become the mayor!)

Hey, sort of a weird question. Up until now I havenโt seen any weapon draw mechanic. When the weapon is equipped then the character is in โcombat modeโ. For example I havenโt seen a staff placed behind the back of a character, but only held as if the character was in combat all the time. I hope they introduce a draw stance for each wep and they havenโt had done so because theyโre just testing. Anyone has any clue if they will implement this? Sorry for the weird and long winded question I was just curious.

Nodes can rise and fall, so whether new players have access to โnewโ nodes really depends on how much of the world is claimed (how many metros on the server) and whether the claimed Nodes can defend their territory and prevent neighboring Nodes from replacing theirs.

From what I understand, the general response to the node 3 delay is that they actually want to show the system in practice, no longer speaking around it hypothetically. As in something like.. seeing a node progressing on the model of the game. The backend fixing takes away resources (yes not all are working on fixing the backend, but for some things, design needs to wait for the engineers, and the engineers are busy). Thus, resulting in a general delay of a product that can be shown to the public, thus delaying Nodes 3 ๐

I like the world to talk to you instead of the UI. One such thing is the power or level indicators to compare and warn you away from world bosses. In the real world, you can often tell a threat is approaching by the action of the wildlife around you. Will the wild life flee or change their behaviour according to the danger and locality of perceived threats ?
Trackers who are into animal husbandry, or merely hunting a specific animal component, would be extremely alert to such animal behaviour. Like walking into a part of a forest, which is eerily silent of all life. It would make the atmosphere electric and the nerves fray. The mind left to fill in the blanks with infinite nightmares, of exactly what kind of threat exists. Perhaps the remnants of a few brave but ultimately foolish souls, littered about, contorted into depraved works of art. Hhhhmm. I am enjoying these thoughts far more than I should like. LOL. Essentially, will the game worlds actions give us flora/fauna/place/character feedback, instead of relying on the UI ?

Now this all comes down to what they consider the difference between SEA and OCE. Since the internet is a series of tubes (jk), the tube from Australia gives very different results for people depending on location vs the tube for south east asia. If they place a set for SEA, Aussies will see lag and issues. If they place one for OCE (Aus and NZ), the rest of Asia will have better results rolling NA.

@light flax in all due time, actions will have consequences. but it can lead to some interesting situations, like a group of pk'ers, but their looks all get found out, so if people see certain people, they can go hunting for them. it can give a good feel of cat and mouse chase between bounty hunters and pk'ers. if someone becomes infamous for whatever reason, be it an opposing guild, or the general population, you keep your eye out for certain looks, but then someone can try to sneak away by disguising themselves, but of course bounty hunters would be able to track

No they did say there are anti-zerg measures such as traps and siege weapons, but what that means in a situation of capped numbers, is unclear

Having loads of aoe can also limit zergs if the aoe is more effective the more people that get hit by it, and making aoe weaker if it hits single targets. I hope they go that route instead.

If you're really slow you make 0.5m per second , that means in 1 minute you make 30 meters. Keep in mind that the official average human walking speed is of 1.4m per second. That means the chillest you can walk will take you 115 minutes. that's 2 hours. With the 1.4 you get less than 40 minutes

If you have a KS/Summer package and have not upgraded it yet that is still possible. All other avenues are closed at the moment. They had a target number of testers that they wanted for the A1, and that access sold out fairly quickly. The next available testing phase available is A2 and beyond. All dates and timelines have been pushed, things may change over that time period, but no guarantees.

Your KS? You need to upgrade to at least BoW. Remember Apocalypse is being billed as a standalone product and is not part of A1 and anyone will have access to that testing for free. If you have a lower tier KS package and upgrade it, you then wait along with everyone else for them to announce a date. They have stopped giving "projected dates" and will only give firm dates in the future.

I was very confused concerning the recent Seige article concerning Death. If during a Seige, capturing points speeds up or decreases spawning rates, does that mean it is instanced? Or will spawning rates times be subject to change in various ways in the MMO? Or is the Seige article mostly concerning the BR Seige mode and not Seige warfare in the MMO?

@tight gale this doesn't make sense... i distinctly remember in the past that it was expressed that if we didn't like the type of node that was in an area, players themselves could raze it to the ground, and then influence how it would then be built up again. is it set to be pre-determined now from day 1 ? players no longer have any control over what nodes are placed where, based on their actions ?

The example I can think of is letting the Stage 1 Node drop back down to Stage 0 and then try to focus on getting a neighbor node to Stage 1. Easier to do if we have sufficient time with the map during beta to figure where the node types are on the map.

Confused by this part... With citizenship being a thing. Let's say big massive metro is being an ass with massive taxes etc, or poor management, or have just had enough of being smaller, and it's pissing off its vassel nodes. Would people have to renounce their citizenship to go to war with it to overthrow the leader?
