Well I dont personally own a 20-- RTX myself, and I will admit, RT mainly looks good in movie renders, but since this game wont be out for about a year, it does seem like a proactive technology to impliment.

About the combat system - will attacks have impact when striking an enemy player? As example making them flinch when you hit them with abilities. Not necessarily a stun but rather a quick animation showing my attack connected.
Also - will there be knockdown and stun chains? so you can combo?

@zealous jolt Most, if not all of the problems plaguing Atlas have been addressed in planning already, whether their systems are up to the task remains to be seen. Rushing the map? No fast travel. Loss of items overnight? You dont lose items from pvp death unless highly corrupted, and sieges take days to declare depending on node level. Inability to find land? Freeholds are single claim per account, not character, account. Require substantial investment and continued upkeep. Imagine Atlas if people were only able to claim a single claim and had to pay to get it initially and had to keep paying to keep it.

Question: With guilds forming before players are attached to a server; that are made up of both Headstart and non-headstart purchasers, has Intrepid put any thought into how this will be navigated?
Are NON-head start purchasers expected to just bite the bullet and join a head-start server with those specific guildies, starting behind the rest of the pack? Or for people like me, who WONT be doing such a thing, are we expected to be split from the rest of the guild and be on a different server?
Because if so, Guilds need to start conveying not only their region [NA/OCE], but what server they will be joining. [Headstart/Non-Headstart]
I'm aware that nodes are shutdown for the 2 days, but time in-game before the rest, is an advantage: ie. Character level = more dmg from abilities = faster kill rate of mobs/faster completion of quests = more gold = able to buy a house in a node faster. That's just factoring in your character level, let alone any items players accrue in those crucial 2 days.

First and foremost, according to Steven, nodes aren't controlled by out-of-game guilds. And guild leaders probably will not be mayors of nodes.
Out-of-game guilds can't really plan ahead as you suggest until we actually get to play around with nodes and in-game guilds. No real way to determine how to create effective sub-guilds or disperse them across the map.
We don't even know if we will have access to the entire map during beta, or if all the nodes will be active during beta. Given Steven's philosophy on learning after we start playing, we might only have partial access to the map and to the nodes during beta. Which means a two-day head-start might not give us a full understanding of prime locations since nodes won't be active at all during the headstart.
We still have to progress a node to Stage 3 before we can acquire housing. It will take a few days to progress a node Stage 3. So, everyone will really be starting that progression at the same time... and there is no guarantee that the people who progress a node to Stage 3 during the first week or two will be able to survive node sieges during the first or two.
Seems to me the whole point of joining an out-of-game guild ist help your guildmates. The guilds I join share resources and gold and gear with newbies, so I would expect guilds to be helping their newbie guildmates acquire housing.
Once a village becomes a Stage 4 Town, housing will become available in the associated Stage 3 Villages, so, even if you miss out on the housing that your head-start guildies acquired in the node that became a Town, you should still be able to acquire housing in the associated nodes once they become a village. Same is true once those nodes reach Stages 4 and 5.
Again, that's assuming those nodes survive sieges.
We can probably gather resources during headstart.
I don't think we can gain a significant amount of items without node settlements.
So... two-day head-start is not necessarily going to be a significant advantage. And, really by the end of the first couple of weeks, it's all going to even out anyways.
Because even on the non-head start servers, there will be tons of people who weren't able to start playing the first couple of days of Launch.

Flying is actually very limited there will be gliding/ hovering as the other option
True flight is limited to mayors of metropolises and kings or queens of castles which is 10 total
There is a a chance for a rare drop to provide a temporary flying mount that will expire once the time is up

Most stuff for some reason for people didnt get put in right categories and shoved into other. If you dont see anything at all, definitely file a ticket. Realize response times are longer due to volume.

They said they'd allow for people who missed out because of the website issues to access these packs again after the website is fixed. Remember they had to hire a new web team to fix the problems of the old. Not exactly a fast process cleaning up someone elses coding mess.

Because RNG in the form of dice rolls is a key component of RPGs. And MMORPGs are RPGs. As you remove RNG, you really begin to have some other form game. It's like when you remove the restriction of only using your feet for futbol/soccer, you end up with American football - which is fun... but not the same game.

Open PvP is not the same thing as open world PvP.
All open world PvP is not accurate since we have arenas which will be instanced PvP. Most of the PvP will be open world but not all. And sieges and battlegrounds/caravans will PvP that occurs open world.
In addition, Ashes is a PvX game.

@cerulean lake In the Jan 11th livestream they mentioned bringing in other race models into Apocalypse once they are ready. However this is subject to change and depends on development.
They also impressed on the necessity for this as they need to test hitboxes etc. for the various races to ensure one does not have the advantage over the other (For example dwarves tiny hitboxes, thus harder to hit)

As someone who's met the devs. And spent around 700$ I think it's worth it. These guys are passionate and trustworthy. And have the experience needed to complete the MMO. Right now is just a slow time because they are working hard to overhaul some broken backend systems.

@stiff creek Regarding lighting and particle effects, AoC is currently on it's first pass of visuals in development.
This means that what they currently have is in the game right now is the preliminary iteration of what is tweaked as the various testing phases go by. So in it's current form it wouldnt be able to provide you with much solid data or knowledge I'm afraid.

Beta of Apoc, which originally was Alpha 1 phase 1 for the mmo, Alpha 1 for the mmo is slated to start in June unless changed in the letter we get on thursday
