details/example:
i was in a squad match i got 5 kills my friend got 1 kill they died 3 seconds before me so time and distance traveled were basically equal. I had more way more hits and accuracy.... but the friend got almost double my xp.

Regarding combat, I have noticed when you melee if you pause for a moment and then try to swing it will not let you until after the swing animation. Is this intentional? My reason for questioning it is if you swing immediately after a swing you will attack one after another no problem. However say you want to swing pause swing the delay is quite long between swings. Maybe I am over thinking the situation and maybe it is hard to understand. Try it sometime, hit an object wait and then try to swing at it again , it won't allow you for an odd amount of time.

That makes sense but he is talking about standard swings only. Like if you stand still and spam left click you chain attacks. But if you left click only once and wait a split second then spam left click you cannot chain until a bit after your full swing completes.

That's pretty much the standard in action combat. Spam-clicking results in smooth, fast combos. Slowing down = Wait until animation finishes to swing again because it's not chained.
It's the same logic if you tried to do so in real life.

Yea except its not like it does a heavier attack. It's the same exact attack animation and damage so ima stick with it's unintended.
It would be different if clicking once did a heavier, more damaging attack at a slower rate than the faster chain attacks, but that is not the case.

@tight gale Hello, as a content creator, I had asked previously about rules regarding content appropriateness, and none have been officially available. The only guideline I was given was that everything should fit into an ESRB "T" rating, which is incredibly vague, and rarely applicable, since external media more closely matches guidelines for the MPAA than ESRB.
Can there be an official set of guidelines made for this? It seems practical to have, and would be great timing to have for when the forums come back up.

Any class can use any weapon or wear any armor. Just with varying levels of effectiveness from last information given. So there are no "mage weapons" A tank may use a wand or a mage may use a shield if they want.

He was never sent a code after buying the game, he made an account, sent Intrepid an email asking about the account linking and the code. They never got back to him
They had booths that you could preorder from.

Answer to the EU Server issue people had where they queued ONLY for EU Servers but were getting sent to NA Servers stills.
We figured out what was causing this, and we are working to resolve it.
We also found another issue that could be causing issues. If you are grouped with someone, the leader will choose which server(s) you are queued for. As a member of the party, your server options do not take (and should be greyed out.) We are working to fix that as well.

I had submitted a problem I've had where I keep trying to start my account (I received an email with the account name given to me) and it won't let me make one on the website. I submitted a ticket, they changed my password - I tried to log in and it still didn't work. I emailed back saying that it still would not work and no one has responded in over a week.

I don't know but you should try using your email till only the @ part and don't include it either. It does count as a special character but the problem is I'm not sure if special characters are allowed or not since I didn't try it myself but maybe try that?

Hey, no you wont get access to the game now. Its not up at the moment. The next AOC test is Alpha 1 phase 2 in Q2. You can not get access to this test by buying any of the current packages. If you buy the pack for 75$ you get access to Beta 2 which is in Q4 of this year i would guess.

They always have the Apocalypse mechanic. Your server is failing. You have failed the gods. Corruption incoming, everyone get to the portals to end up on an alternate Verra or die. Server merge completed.

@empty fjord And may I ask what betas you have played? I have personally beta tested e.g. ESO (took about year) and Albion Online, which took year and half before launch. In most cases MMORPGs beta testing will take some time if things are done and tested properly. MMORPGs are so extensive and there is so much content to test and break that you can not haste with that. Even some remarkable changes can still be done and test out before launch. Trying to run fast through beta phase will most likely end with terrible launch, missing core content and a lot performance problems. Devs ofc needs to be optimistic and give that imagine of perfect smooth testing. It is different case, that who truely believes in that.

One question regarding the display of the Kickstarter Packs: I can see everything from my Settler Pledge correctly displayed in my account, Except for the 2 Month play time. Instead it just sais "Settler (Kickstarter Backer)". Is this a flag that contains the game time, or should the game time be listed individually?

Not sure about that, @tight gale it appears among the items listed in our inventories regarding our Kickstarter packages we do not have the X amount of time we get from each package tier. For example my lifetime sub isnt in the list so it appears to be a common issue.

@pearl oyster FF14 has a lot more flexibility in camera angles /settings and the ability to pan out substantially farther than WoW . I think they are using both to demonstrate the extremes of 'fairly limited camera angle function' and 'extremely adaptable camera function' . When they compare to FF14 they are saying much more flexible than not in regards to camera settings.

@sudden kernel In Everquest , we had a lot of rewarding solo gameplay . Like being a bard and soloing gorenare or extremely rare loot drops from difficult elite mobs / events - planes of power think piggy stampede . Is that kind of rewarding solo gameplay going to be in the open pve world ? And when I say rewarding I mean rewarding - not sub raid tier loot .top tier crafting items / rare cosmetics etc .

I understand tabbing between characters and am okay with this, but there is a fundamental difference between being dogpiled by a single player and slain instantly and being dogpiled by 5 coordinated players and slain instantly.
Based on Ashes being toted as a "NO PAY TO WIN" MMO, I'd like to see an official statement made on the matter. Pay to win and cooperation to win are incomparable concepts. Will bring this discussion somewhere else if necessary

@nova onyx You cant really multi box co-ordinate attack someone in an MMORPG. It might be a concept in certain games such as EVE online where the pace of the combat is slow, however it isnt as effective in an MMORPG when it comes to combat. However there are advantages when it comes to farming/gathering/processing and other crafting related mechanics.

@keen raft There will be decent content for solo players, but they've talked about how the downfall of MMOs has been the catering of soloists causing content to be trivial. They want this best gear, materials, and cosmetics to drop from the highest end group content. There will be stuff like legendary quests, Easter eggs, and crafting which could be considered solo challenging.

Our goal is to ensure we can fix some of the MAJOR issues we encountered in order to provide everyone with a more polished game.
We really want to finish the Battle Royale so we can move forward and start testing Castle Siege Mode next. 😉

therefore there's a good reason to download rn and if the above error is not to be expected then I would rather resolve any issues now rather than when the server goes online

@tight gale Are you thinking about increasing the exp rate to lvl up the Legendary Path?
Because you went from servers online 24/7 to weekly and now skip some weeks not all of us will probably have enough time to get to lvl 50 in time.
I am not complaining about the limited time we get to play. Just take your time you need and its fine, but it maybe would be good to adjust certain game mechanics which need the player to invest some time into the game.
I will probably make it anyway, i am just concernt a lot of people will start complaining in the last week or 2. And then it might be harder to approach this problems then now.

I want them to progress for sure but their bad estimation on when the game will be launched, when the beta will be on and changing their mind create backlash. Either get better at your forecasts or dont even announce which you will weekly alter.

I don’t think there is any reason for backlash. Apoc is for testing purposes and gathering info right?? If the game is not in a state for effective information gathering this weekend, why open it to the public? Apoc is not owed to us, it’s a tool for developing a final product imo.

@pearl oyster Apoc is a tool for gathering data and knowlegde about certain aspects for the MMO product, but will most likely also continue as a stand alone product.
@rotund edge I think such difference would be between races, not classes. Although I kinda get what you mean in terms of someone wearing plate mail vs leather for example. Still, that is a smaller difference than the difference between races. So the major one will most likely be the only one?

Ye Mojo, it is in beta and you should always expect unexpected interruptions in alpha/beta testing. If you do not get that, you probably spent inefficiently much time internally rather than getting it out for testing.

- Will there be a weapon leveling system so your weapons levels as well instead of changing weapons every time you find one.
- Will there be limited or unlimited recourses so will there be a server limit so you need to fight for it to the end or a small time limit like forest that needs to regrow.
- Will there be a tax system so the city earns some and will you be able to make deals or avoid it?
- Will there be free mining or are there caves and mines as you are leveling your node?
- Will you be able to make paths and bridges to make trading faster?

So just think of them as separate testing classes

The only benefit the packs give for apocalypse is testing sieges prior to public testing

Question, when I purchase a skin for my freehold will that affect just my Freeholds homestead or will that affect the entire freehold so that the tavern, inn, homestead,warehouse, etc are changed. It would be kind of annoying to purchase the skin for my freehold and have just the homestead affected and have that stand out contrasting the rest of the buildings greatly.

this is an observation I've made from the livestreams where they talk about each month's cosmetics. they descibe for example Dünthol’s Forge which is a skin for a forge, meaning it only affects the forge(s) you have on your freehold. then there are house skins which only affects the house on your freehold.

Hello, I have been following this game for a while and I was very excited to play it. but seems to me, that every time I tune up to find out some new developments all I can see is BR this, BR that, apocalypse this, apocalypse that. I just dont see anything about the MMO. did something change? are we not developing an MMO anymore?
