I'm surprised the Discord hasn't been shut down given the fact that the studio basically has. Why is the game even still up on Steam? Are the new company heads trying to squeeze as many pennies as they can before they pull the plug? This is not a standard refund request based on gameplay preference of dissatisfaction, but a report of a broken promise and an effectively abandoned Early Access Product.

Reason for this request:

Studio closure
It has been widely reported that Intrepid Studios has ceased operations. Senior leadership has resigned, and the development team has been laid off, with WARN Act notices issued.

Abandoned Early Access Product.
Ashes of Creation was sold as an Early Access title with the explicit promise of continued development and future delivery of core features. With the studio dissolving, development has permanently halted , and the advertised product will never be completed.

Loss of Product Viability

Without an active development team, the game's servers are expected to shut down or become non-functional, rendering the product completely unplayable.

I respectfully ask Valve to treat this case similarly to previous precedents, such as "The Day Before" Where refunds were issued due to the studio closure and false or unfulfilled advertising shortly after release.

Given these circumstances, I request a manual review of this purchase, as the product is now effectively defunct and no longer deliverable as sold.

I worked at a company that dealt with these product not delivered inquiries from credit card companies and it was difficult for a company to win these cases against customer even when the company was 100% in the right. The credit card companies and banks want to side with customer as they are beholden to them not the companies their customers have disputes with. So use your customer rights!

Intrepid will be officially dead as of February 2nd, 2026. This product was launched on Steam at a point in time where the WARN act notifications would have to have been implemented at Intrepid. In order to circumvent the WARN act, Steven, the owner of the product, is deflecting governance to a non-existent board pushing out the WARN act notifications to an official date of today, which would be fraudulent.

Again, I purchased 5 copies of Ashes of Creation that I want refunded.

I am requesting a full refund for Ashes of Creation.

The product was not usable.

I spent more than 2 hours unable to log in, stuck in the login server queue. During this time, no gameplay was possible at all. The recorded playtime consists entirely of waiting for server access and does not reflect actual use or testing of the game.

This game is fully online-dependent. Without functional login servers, the product has no usable value. I was therefore unable to evaluate or play the game in any meaningful way.

In addition:

Access to the game’s core functionality was not available.

The support for this game has been discontinued or is effectively unreachable.

The operational status of the project is unclear following the CEO’s resignation.

Denying a refund solely based on recorded playtime is not reasonable in this case, as the playtime was caused exclusively by technical issues beyond my control.

Other users have received refunds under similar circumstances.

I also think him resigning when he did was a calculated move to assist in his legal fight. His statement was clearly made with counsel and defines some matters. If money was an issue there were other options they could have tried, selling cosmetics again, a sub price, etc. They didnt try any of that.

But did they try everything financially to keep it afloat or just decide to shut down or partially shut down (100 layoffs) to benefit the company or to reduce the impact to the board members bottom line. If this happened its a fiduciary duty issue.

Ashes of Creation was sold as an Early Access title with the explicit promise of continued development and future delivery of core features. With the studio dissolving, development has permanently halted , and the advertised product will never be completed.

Loss of Product Viability

Without an active development team, the game's servers are expected to shut down or become non-functional, rendering the product completely unplayable.

I respectfully ask Valve to treat this case similarly to previous precedents, such as "The Day Before" Where refunds were issued due to the studio closure and false or unfulfilled advertising shortly after release.

Honestly, it might not even be the game itself, it could be your monitor settings (brightness, contrast, sharpness, color temperature) or even things like motion blur / camera shake in-game.

If you ever feel like giving it another try, I’d recommend lowering the brightness a bit or installing f.lux. That app reduces the harsh white/blue light and makes everything way easier on the eyes, especially at night.

Hopefully you can make it work because it’s a shame when you actually want to enjoy a game but your eyes are like nooope

Great question. And honestly I’m not saying Quinfall is “better, Better, BETTER!!!!!” than the giants.

I’m just saying it’s one of the few MMOs right now that’s actually keeping me logged in.

I’ve been playing MMOs since the early days, MU Online era, Lineage, WoW, all of that, so I’m not the type that gets hyped easily. If a game feels empty or boring, I drop it fast.

Quinfall isn’t perfect, but it’s fun, the world feels big, the progression feels real, crafting and grinding actually matter, and there’s always something to do. It gives me that old-school MMO vibe where you log in and you actually feel like you’re building something.

Now, I’ll be honest, the PvP still needs work and the UI definitely needs polishing, but the devs have been patching nonstop since launch and it’s clear they’re actively trying to improve things. With enough feedback, I’m pretty sure both of those will get way better.

So my pitch is simple: if you want something you can jump into TODAY that feels like an actual MMO and not a lobby simulator, Quinfall is worth trying.

If bought from Interpid, you can try to contact your credit card provider. Atleast in my bank there is a clause for both undelivered items and company going bankrupt before delivery, which could apply here.
I made a ticket but the processing time is 1-3 months so I wont be hearing about the results for a while. It would seem that I should atleast get the 75e pre-order pack back as it is a clear case of undelivered items. 50e Alpha2 key might not be refunded since the key was delivered, although its functionality ended earlier than promised. I tried to make the claim as dishonest marketing and the product not being what was advertised.

While I kept hope for this game, like I did with Hytale before it's cancellation. I deffs do not see any sort of "Massive hype revival" for this like there was with Hytale. Do Gamers even know what makes an "MMORPG" Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game?

I have seen people saying its the End of the MMORPG, but how can it be the End of something, that Never existed as any 1 thing. If you note the wording here.

Massively Multiplayer - so a larger than coop mode. Role Playing game. Nearly every single game in existence is "Role playing" Single player games, coop games, your literally playing as a role. 1 way or another.

And that is what makes RPG the more attractive form of gaming be it MMO or SP. Because it lets you the player decide on, adapt to, and embrace a role of which you like. And for some games, when the story is complete, the ability to start a new and try a different role is the whole cake of it.

But I fear with all this negative results in the past 15 years maybe longer. The "Term" MMORPG has been stained by only 1 type of RPG gaming. Massively Multiplayer.

Which leads me to ask.

Is it just poor decision and developers choices, or and is it also the player base not only has it aged but changed, the newer gamers just do not have the same passion and expectations as the older. A divide. A divide of Expectations, and Results.
