Logins occur based on server workers. If you log out in a dense population area you will always have a longer que. If the server worker you're trying to log into is having problems and throwing an Error Code: 37 you will stay in que for extended periods and may even be pushed back in que until it is fixed. Nothing to really do but wait.

Only real fix that has been confirmed by the community is to full shut down Steam. Start it back up and verify AoC files, then star AoC and cross your fingers. Sometimes it can take a few times.

Question (acknowledging that we may not have final answers on this): What's the expectation around server wipes as Alpha 2 moves into Beta 1 moves into later phases? Maybe I'm just an old-timer, but I assume none of what's currently happening on any of the servers (and/or maybe even the server themselves) is going to persist through phases -- at the very least, I assume it all gets wiped going into 1.0. Is that true? And if so, or even if it's unclear but likely, how does that affect how folks approach actually playing the game (eg, do you name your chars differently, do you change how you approach crafting, etc.)? 🙂

Only confirmation I've heard is that there is 2 more wipes guaranteed. Alpha into Beta and Beta into Prod. There may be more but there are at least two for sure.

I've started wondering about this for my own charcter. I'm at about 50 hours into Alpha 2. I have loved the experience so far, and my old-timer, long-time-MMORPG-player compulsive personality starts taking over. And so I have to keep in mind "This is all going to get wiped! Don't over-commit!" But I ahven't quite figured out what not over-comitting means in terms of how I play it or what things I focus on or whatever

I only have one guaranteed wipe, which is the one before "live launch." Don't know where the Alpha into Beta one comes in. But they have been pretty clear that the client will be wiped as they feel there is a need. They don't want to, because it drives a portion of their testers away every time they do, but if they need to, they will.

I believe the 2 wipes I heard were during the Esfand interview but I may be 100% wrong.

Our group is all about 250-300 hours each. Dont worry about over committing or forcing yourself into something. Just do what feels right at the time. Economies are completely overturned already, people are hitting level 25 within 4 days with power leveling and exploits abound. Dont take the fun out of the game, that's what it is. A game to play in your free time for enjoyment, not another job. Just having fun with it should be your priority like it is ours and we're having a blast.

In the vast majority of cases you will have to use unstuck. They don't do character teleports as GMs for terrain issues usually. Now, that is not to say they don't, it is just rare. Good luck.

If you are saying you have no more quests, you have to go out and explore and find them. Currently questing will get you to around 16 if you concentrate on just that. Some are broken, some get fixed each update (and others that were "fixed" break) and there is a difficulty jump if soloing around levels 10-12 that you should supplement your exp gain with town board commissions and artisan stuff to make up the difference. Enjoy.

Im on resna. it's the most dramatic after lyneth (lyneth has the streamers) and im loving it. theres constant politics from the polar antics and everyones deadset against them and the sense of community because of that has been fun an easy go. because it's basically just "oh that guy isn't polar leave them alone"

Queues are very, very, very long.
It requires enough players leaving the node you're in so it goes below the acceptable number of players to log in new players.

It can take hours.

I recommend never logging off in busy areas. Try logging in in the morning or late at night and there should be no queue

Level 10 to 20 is a bit of a grind.
I recommend buying cheap gear from a busy auction house. Don't go for quality. Save all your crafting materials for T3 stuff.
For specifics

• a thornbound briar great axe is really good for magic classes. Spec it for snare so you can escape tough situations easier or lock down mobs in aoe content.
• longbows that give magical power and Crit power are the key here. You have a lot of heal procs and you want those Crits to shine.
• Ideally, you would go with mage-oriented heavy armour. But the arcane aegis set (light armor) is very budget friendly and offers a lot of decent stats if you plan to stick to PvE

Try a thornbound wand and thornbound focus. It's a slept on alternative which works very well IMO. It tends to be cheap and plentiful at markets too.

Otherwise, consider a magical shortbow too! They're not popular, plenty for sale and they do the job just fine. I prefer a wand though.

Starting areas aren't really busy usually. People get out of it rather quick. I do not consider it risky to log off there.

its your passive at level 10. depending on what melody you have up. your weapon finisher will consume resonant to have a special effect. the mana song will give big chunk of mana to lowest mana person in group. you gain resonant by casting spells/doing dances

Arcane Aegis set is cheap on the market and decently efficient. Great gear to take you to level 20.
The Thornbound Briar-Spear is great melee weapon for you. Look for a magical longbow or a tome with a lot of magic power

there have been numerous rewards that people will get to keep over various phases of testing. People who played the battle royale combat test 7 years ago get to keep their earned mount skins/costumes from that. people got mount skins for exposing bugs that they'll get to keep. people got pet cosmetics for donating to the kids hospital. people who were here before covid get a house cosmetic.

people from before steam got 2 titles and a cloak.

Can someone help me understand the PvP mechanics? I finished killing a plant outside of Halcyon. A lvl 25 rogue was invisible and popped out as pvp flagged and started attacking me. They are impressive looking games, I agree, played both post launch.
For reference though, AoC alpha status is still early development and in particular the EA launch just added The Anvils starter location, which is very low progress on it state beyond the starter area compared to Riverlands.

Hence I and quite few other took long dangerous road to Riverlands to enjoy the more fully experience in the games current alpha state. I came across even more placeholder areas, graphics, etc on those travels. My experience in the Riverlands feel way more polished as I expected, thus my confidence on Intrepid delivering on their promises is high 🙂

Hope this maybe helps and gives a point of view for context of games current state.

I just noticed something interesting. I'm playing on an EU server and there are queues every evening, which is expected. I play ssf, so I got all 5 chars and I need every single one for professions. I just logged off on my main which is level 11 and tried to relog back in, but there is a queue of 70 ppl. So I cancel the queue and try to log on with my lvl 1 alt and oh myyy, there is no queue anymore! I try to switch to main and see the queue again and again my lvl 1 just gets to skip the queue completely. That's kinda unfair to my taste, if it's intended or am I seeing a bug of some sort?

The server worker is getting overpopulated? I was trying to add some input in alpha-two-feedback or general but was unable to. That would be nice to allow all access to that if they want to give advice. I was in a group and the tank can add priority and I like that you can tab target between targets but occasionally you tab target to a mob you didn't mean to pull and attack it. I would like it if there was an auto attack the target of your tank if your focused on your tank. Like just target the tank you can see the mob he is attacking and when you attack it auto switches to that target. Or if I heal it would auto heal the tank.... just food for thought

There are different types of crates, construction crates used to build up towns. Those turn in to Constructions in progress in towns, or crate dude.

Commodity crates are meant to be hauled to other towns/locations that can accespt them (Village or towns only) Getting a pack mule is helpful bc you can load one up on it, and then on yourself, hop in, and now you have two crates you can turn in, and the mounts go faster than walking with a crate on your back. You can buy a starter one on the Market for like 50 silver. Daystrider.

so the server works on workers so take joeva for example if you log out there joeva is still live in game people alrreasy in the game elsewhere then coming into joeva are going to take space on that sw making your que move slow as more people are coming in than leaving so the people already connected to the gameworld will be able to go into town but you will still be queing the ones already in game are taking prio so to speak

you wont like this answer. No, there is no auto run. There is no fast travel everything is manual and takes time. The game is a slower pace. Use your mount. Save up and get a cat or wolf. when you can.

Depends on the server and guilds on the server.

There are Guild wars - not instanced, guild v guild, anytime anywhere, kill on sight. This is supposed to have objectives, but Im not sure they made it in yet.

Settlement wars - Town vs Town, citizens vs citizens, not instanced, only can kill them in the two settlement areas that are involved. Has a limit (Kills, objectives)

Settlement Sieges - These are instanced, they have a list of players, can be selected by the designated leader/people. This will eventually have Settlement destruction (everything destroyed, all bank stuff gone) but thats not in yet.

There are also lawless rotating PVP zones, but the gravy stuff isnt in yet or working. But can raid up in there and go all murder hobo

yes. that overrides drops. i spent 4 hours killing goblins to realize. you only get 3 items off goblins then trade them for the other items ur missing. you need to collect 4 of each of the 3. the whipcracker you need to kill the iron goblin that runs around by itself, the others you can get around the place. i think it took me 7 iron goblin kills (forgot the name) to get the whip

i should probably make a guide post to help others with the same issue.

I have a question and I’m not sure this is the right place but I’m going to ask anyways and I hope it gets seen by the right people. First I love the game and I want to play more and more and I’m excited for its future. That being said I would like to know about a few things I believe might be missing from the game. Now I believe the system is busted at the moment, but I wanna talk about the crates,mules and caravan system. I have been running crates for about a week now with hardly any gold to show for it partially due to this system, being broken and not being able to judge how much I will actually make on a run all the way from the north to Jova. The system is beautiful . I think it just needs a little bit of work to get it working properly and it would be fun. Other than that. I believe there’s not enough ways for solo or semi solo players to use the system with little risk, there’s not really any way to hire help to protect your caravan. I mean, I could use chat to try to find someone but it would cost gold that’s hardly doable as it’s hard to understand how much money I’m even making so my question is will there be a system in place where I can actually hire help from a city directly rather than the player base in the city offers some kind of benefit to those people helping such as guild, reputation, and script. I also believe that linking guilds to a specific city could benefit that city more as well and vice versa with the guild at the same time.

My second question would be are there going to be more ways to earn citizen, reputation and script as of at the moment there are very few ways that don’t get completed too quickly for more people to be involved in it. I think a good fix for this would be making the road from city to city or town to town. An event for players to help contribute to the more players help build the road of the pastor of builds and the more script they receive.

Crates are subject to diminishing returns based on how many of the same type of crate have been taken to the same location.

Unfortunately the pricing screen does not reflect the diminishing returns unless you have the crate equipped and interact with the NPC beside the station you crafted the crate at, as if you were going to sell it for the least amount of money possible. (This should update the pricing window). Hopefully the UI will be adjusted in the future to show current diminished return prices (maybe post in #1365494991509782558 and add a comment about that!)

You can counter the lower prices by crafting higher quality crates using higher quality crate certificates + higher quality materials (or try sportsfishing)

In previous alpha builds you would do commission quests from the board in order to receive those tools, but those have been removed.

Tools are now exclusively crafted by weaponsmithing profession, that is how you upgrade your basic tools.

There is one quest currently in the game around level 3 that will give you a starting set of uncommon tools to upgrade the common tools you start with.

yeah i wouldn't know man, just starting out myself and sharing what i found to work. so far that would be elite mob grinding in a group of people since you get the same amount of xp per kill regardless of being solo/grouped. finding one won't be tough however you do need to look into places and mobs to grind for your level. when you do, send it to there, form or join a group and press buttons on bad guys

so you CAN grab commission quests and you can grab alot. Get the kill ones (They are up by the hunting lodge) in towns. Grab the gathering ones. Watch the levels tho only get ones around your level.

But no, there is no MSQ, and there arent a lot of quests. At that lvl 12, you can farm mobs, around Highwayman Hold, or Oak. Find a group,. or go at it yourself but dont try and be crazyyyyyyyy.

I have done things like, grab 30 commission quests, run around and do them ( ofthen they duplicate so the same thing kill 10 wolves, from halycon and from winstead for example). DONT TURN THEM IN one by one. SAVE them, until your log is jammed packed with completed quests.

THENNNN... pop a scroll of adventuring exp... and then turn them all in.

im having the same issue - it is because there are too many people in the area where your tank is at, versus where your lowbies are at. So if you are trying to log in and your char is at the city, you will be in the queue of death.
