Large scale PvP events that are against a Settlement. If the Siege wins, everything in it is destroyed back to an open field(not in yet) and players have to work together to defend their settlement as their materials are locked when they are declared.
Currently they are limited to 100 vs 100 but the original plan is for that to be completely open in the future with them likely slowly scaling up how many can participate at once. There will be siege weapons as well in the future along with a number of other things not yet in.

There are two siege mechanics planned for Ashes. Settlement sieges and Castle sieges. Settlement sieges are meant to change the political and content structure of the world and may result in loss and destruction of assets. Castle sieges are guild pvp content with a weekly minor schedule of events leading up to a monthly contest for control of the castle for the next month. They are meant to be deep systems that are in first iteration passes on the settlement side and castles sieges have not been testing in Alpha 2 as yet (there was some earlier testing some years back, but that has no bearing on what is coming now). Usually people do their mains as gatherers, and an alt for the other types, For your speciifc question, perhaps one could do processing/one could do crafting, or spread it out over a few toons, as it is limited what you can learn at higher levels.

Not really. Everything in the game is open world, and open world is pvp with corruption system. We also have guild wars, node wars, node sieges, lawless zones, pvp events like caravans, harbingers

there is no gear abilities, its a class-based game. The game is going through balance iterations all the time so how much gear-based it is and how much skill-based it is changes a lot. But the combat is very fun and has room for skill expression

Nope, race is purely cosmetic by design here to stop the "You went fighter, you must roll Ren'kai!" There is a system called Background that will be implemented later, you can even see the placeholder for it in the CC. That will allow people to select various bonuses based on RP. So you want to be a Dunir that grew up in a tree and has a bonus to picking flowers? Go for it sort of thing. But we have been given no further information on what form or value those Backgrounds may influence at this time.

My question is about guilds in Ashes of Creation.

Is there a guild level system or progression feature where the maximum number of members increases as the guild levels up?

What I mean is: when a guild is first created, you can’t immediately invite the full 100 members. For example, a level-1 guild might only allow 10 members, and the guild would need to level up through certain activities or requirements to unlock more member slots.

This kind of system adds more long-term investment and progression for guilds.

Depends on what you mean by forced. Do you personally have to craft? No, although you probably want to do the initial crafting quest at least. Does the best gear come from crafting? Yes. The crafting stuff isn't BoP though, so you can just gather valuable stuff to sell to other players to buy the stuff that they've crafted.

You can trade player to play directly through a window with confirmation prompts if your close to each other. You can't 'mail' materials, which are meant to have logistics involved in moving them around.
You can get low quality gear more quickly hunting monsters (in general, if you need to fill 1 particular slot crafting would be faster). High quality gear is much more practical to aquire through crafting.

Functionally? Yes. Leveling crafting will usually involve crafting a lot of whatever looses you the least amount of gold. Most of the real profit in crafting is in high level/high quality stuff, or being the first person into a market, like selling xp scrolls on launch day, or early mounts.

It's theoretically possible to level most crafts at a profit, but it would probably involve doing it very slowly.

My understanding is that you can run it on linux as long as you make sure your also running Intrepid's anti-cheat stuff. I'd recommend diving pretty deeply into the Linux related stuff on AoC forums if your considering it. Only windows is officialy supported.

If you follow the initial quests, you'll come across a crafting location. However, there's no market nearby.

Big cities can't produce everything. There's a limited number of crafting stations they can build, so if you say have Alchemy and Weapon Smithing you might have to travel to two different cities. A particular city that has both a Jewelcrafting and Alchemy station might give a better quality bonus to Jewel crafting depending on things like relics and commision bonuses the city might have.

Anti Cheats never ban you if you turn on the game without them active, That would be stupid, because if the anti-cheat fails for any reason and doesn’t even start, it would end up banning people for no reason. Besides, the EAC anti-cheat is garbage anyway.

The game includes EAC anti-cheat for free basically because it’s developed in Unreal Engine, and it’s free for developers to use. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have an anti-cheat 😂

can choose any weapon technically as long as it has your dmg type eg physical power / magical power, im just getting back in so cant exactly say what the best one is, but while levelling its the thing with the best stats honestly that gives you the most dmg / magic power. wands do get volatile, burning etc while spellbows still get the normal bow finishers like bleed / wound or whatever it is im pre sure. cant say much to what should be used in current endgame tho as ive been out a while

It is possible to be attacked IN the settlement also. People rarely do it because the guards will attack someone who goes red in town and one shot them, but like any alpha people have found various strats that work to break those intended systems. It is a react to latest trick sometimes sort of thing with Intrepid. People could just line of sight the guards or evade them using terrain, so then Intrepid added ranged hits from the guards, so then people learned to aggro the guards onto others using ability glitches. It isn't perfect and won't be.

you can slowly work it off by killing monsters but thats rarely what happens, most people die either from someone killing them or their friend to remove the mark

Correct. And there are lots of penalties for it. The problem is in testing like this, there is no permanence, so people are not attached to their characters or progression as much, and act out in ways that they would not on a server they were locked to on the daily. You tend to be less of shitter to the people in your area when there is no anonymity and consequences follow your rep.

Congrats. The access to testing should have been applied to your account by Intrepid. Which if it was for alpha 2 testing would mean you could link your account. If you "won" your key from some other place, you probably got scammed. If the key was for "beta" only, you will have to wait till the 11th. Not saying they haven't, but I have never heard of Intrepid giving away just Beta access.

If any of this makes sense and you still think you are missing access you won. A CS ticket is probably your best bet at this time.

When I last played ... Leveling was basically just mob grinding and the quests either didn't work or gave little XP. Is that still how it was before the servers went down?

I just recall getting the horse mount and then grinding mobs.

I’ve heard it’s a bit easier. You can quest and do the destiny objectives and get to level 9 or 10 and be full geared now. But after that it is grinding until more quests get added in and fixed

No, armor type (light, medium, heavy) carries different resists to magic vs physical damage (along with other stat/set bonuses and possible procs). No effect on dodges that I’m aware of atm.

They're open-world areas, similar to games like Lineage 2. Every part of the world is open-world. If other people are in that part of the world and you want that spot, then fighting for it in some way is how you "get it". Lots of groups will camp a spot and wait for the respawns.

Mobs respawn behind you, you work your way in… bosses currently respawn on fixed timers, so groups generally stay and farm them for a bit, then fight their way out.

Those two dungeons aren’t the only way to get desirable gear (which can be crafted or found as drops from other NPCs at POIs around the world). They plan to add more dungeons in time.

Unlikely. In the past they’ve released the build a little early, but with the alpha going to EA on Steam, I don’t expect it, and haven’t seen any news saying to expect it.

Stability has improved with every phase, with the amount of people "stable" probably won't be the word, but it's improving. Rogues are good and fun, however, yes there is more value in other classes and tends to have an overabundance of rogues. Some can hit lvl 25 in a couple days, most it'll take a couple weeks.

1. Steven said “brace for impact” yesterday. I’d imagine the whole teams hopes for things to be stable. But who knows. They are currently targetting 5k ccu per server + queue.
2. Play what you want. Certain classes are currently desired more (clerics/tanks/bards due to filling specific roles, as opposed to dps)
3. Tough to say, first 10 will go quickly. Next 15 will be slower. Depends how hard you grind xp as opposed to exploring. There’s xp for gathering/processing/crafting as well. Maybe 100h for casual play?
