AoC runs smooth on linux with the latest Proton, so that shouldn't be an issue

It might run on a lenovo legion go i can play rdr2 on it with lossless scaling you can try it out on steamdeck buy lossless scaling it gives frame generation to games u can normally not run i triple my frames in rdr2 from 30 to 90

Apparently connecting the Intrepid account to Steam isn’t possible unless you own alpha/beta access, as a few of my guild mates just confirmed.

But if they purchase directly through Steam, will launching the game prompt them to log in with their existing account? We have a referral network set up and don’t want to break it by having some of them purchase on Steam.

If you are a new player, then probably it will be rough. If you are an experienced tester, Anvils questing drops around lvl 5 and then you have to make things happen to level up. There are many new POIs starting around lvl 10.

Read the quest dialogue carefully. Some quests dont show markers, some dont show them until you are closer, some are bugged. But the dialogue should tell you.

It is in active Alpha development and has had testers playing for the past year or longer.

The steam release for "Early Access" is a continuation of the Alpha develoment. Buying access in steam, gets you access to the Alpha testing.

Is it playable? yes. There are a number of core systems in, and being worked on. It will still have updates and changes, and things not working. Possibly wipes of data in the future as they move towards beta development later next year (hopefully)

There has been issues in the past but they have been getting better with how they handle server starts. So I expect some bumps and issues but hard to say about a full crash. Those haven't really happened since phase 1 a year ago.

That is what worries me. We could simply kill the guy in our group after he opens it and then divide the loot later with them and avoid the 1hr pvp flag.

Seeing as the whole area is already PvP flagged, that's not really a concern. The mark only matters once you leave the Corruption zone as you will be stuck in PvP for that hour which, assuming actually makes you purple for that time, you can't go to Settlements or Embersprings as you'd be attacked by guards. Meaning your group will need to spend the next hour together or hiding to protect the loot you got

1. you could easily kill your friend who got the loot and take it and now you avoided the 1h

you can be attacked anywhere at anytime, you can play all the pve content without pvping but nothing is stopping it from happening, most of the time people leave you alone during pve content, there are pvp situations like someone wants your grind spot or a uncommon random ganker comes for you. there is corruption so if someone does gank you and you wanna stick to it them just dont fight back and they will go red and most likely lose some gear since not many people manage to get rid of corruption before death in the current state

50% of materials on you, 25% of those can be looted back, your gear is safe unless you go red by killing someone that doesnt fight back. so even if you do get pvped the only thing lost is a bit of time from materials and a bit of xp dept , all your hard work for gear wont be lost unless you do bad things

Others I know long term here are in Australia, Singapore, New Zealand. Couple guys from India. Everyone says it is playable. Maybe when you removed it you left a file somewhere. You may need to find the old files and manually delete it. The files may have split.

Sadly no, Steam does not allow for early download for Early Access titles and Intrepid has also said the spreading out of people having different download speeds to lower queue times is an OK thing for this fresh start

All Ashes downloading and patching will be done through Steam on Thursday or after so you'll need a whole new fresh install. There are instructions around for removing all AoC files if the launcher uninstall isn't behaving

IIRC it's only issue to run 2 clients on 1 PC if you are controlling both at the same time with some macro / script.

I just don't thing that intrepid would want to differentiate 2 clients running on 1 PC vs a family of 2 playing from the same IP from 2 separate PCs.

yes, but client side detections like this are harder to trust. all i'm saying is that they likely can't use IP to detect it. (I know mac addresses exist and they can also use EAC to check for the process count)

That's fair, even with the price drop to $42.50 on Thursday(which will last until Dec 25th and then go back up to $50) it can be too much for some.
At least for now there is pretty much no mainline story quest and most quests are low lvl based ones right now and while you can mob grind solo, it is significantly better to be in a party of 8 to level

Depends on if you are in a guild that fights others, apart of a Settlement that ends up fighting other Settlements, or involved in world bosses.
So for the most part not too much but you can definitely find it.
With the addition of Harbingers and Sport Fishing(in the open sea), there will likely be a lot more large and small scale PvP in those areas as they are both auto PvP flagged areas

Pretty much, you can get into PvP anywhere and anytime in AoC but the main way to level is PvE besides doing some quests at lower levels as those are still being worked on. You can level by doing Artisan things like gathering, processing, and crafting if that interests you
