There's several PvP focused system's that we've been testing during Alpha Two. Just to name a few off the bat, we just implemented a 1v1 duel system. We'd like to expand this beyond 1v1. There are settlement sieges and wars, and caravans as well 🙂

If you have at least Beta 2 access (the $50 KS pack) then you'll get access on Steam come the 11th regardless, so there's zero reason at all to buy the Steam version if you already have access

The steam launch's early access doesn't have anything to do with the state of the alpha. The game is still in alpha 2, there will be a beta 1 and 2 later. Early Access is steam's way of saying Alpha.

You can equip any weapon and armor on any class

You can equip any armor or any weapon on any archetype if you diregard viability. There are no restrictions on it beyond say a skill like shield bash need a shield to be equipped or a ranger trying to snipe with a dagger.

Me? I would wait. It is just going to be PTR till the Steam launch. PTR is often down and up, wipes daily and a host of other issues that may arise during this time as they push to get done for the 11th. If you just got to HAVE IT NOW! sure, otherwise just wait for the 11th. Saves you half (a little more while on sale) and there will be clearer instructions given in the livestream on the process in two days or so.

The Shader Boss has slain many an adventurer while in transit. 😉 Kidding aside, just make sure you got nothing else running besides Intrepid stuff, especially your first compile, it takes FOREVER, is a resource hog, and may bog down or crash weaker machines. Intrepid has not done optimization passes for the Prod client since .16 weeks ago and the PTR client is iterated on mostly daily as they try to get better stability and performance for the Dec 11th version. Good luck. There is a reason the Alpha Zero participants get a Windmill Boss cosmetic for our time spent attempting to slay that loading screen years ago. The Shader Boss is just their little brother back for vengeance.

I was not trying to say it is your machine, just that is what many have reported back. But overall, everyone has to battle the Shader Boss, and it has several phases. You watch the count go down or up, and then it starts a new one, and then another. Even those with "top end" machines may have struggles with testing here as there is very little to no optimization done in fast iteration.

Could be. Every iteration undergoes a little optimization, it would be unplayable for most otherwise, but in depth to cover a vast range of setups and problems, not so much. Intrepid has had problems with various series of cards not working or earlier "lower cards" working better than "higher cards" and then that flipping and higher working better than lower. There is always going to be something, you just have to keep playing with your settings and options. Don't be like this guy who was just not willing to put in the time.

Yes gear is crafted. Some will also drop, or mats to craft them. But the best gear will be crafted versions.

there are 3 "tiers" of gear.
the first tier drops from mobs
the 2nd and 3rd tier only drops super rarely from bosses, but are mainly acquired by crafting.

They probably will push multiple servers, but it is a bad idea. One server per region max. Any more and those extras will be dead in a week anyway. Everyone will reroll on whatever server has the pop.

1. Yes, you can choose to attack players at any time. You would lose your pvp protection and if they are under it, it wouldn't affect them. But you can choose to. Also if you leave the "starter area" the way it has worked in the past you also lose that protection buff.

2. No, but you do lose a % of gathered or processed goods on any death, pvp or pve.

3. Your first kill as purple on someone that is green would turn you red. Any other kills while red would just compound and increase your corruption score and blight. Currently blight has no removal mechanic, so you would keep getting higher and higher levels of corruption quicker.

4. Dying purple lose least amount of gathered and processed goods. Least death penalty exp. Green double that. Red 4x the green amount of exp debt till corruption is cleared for each death, possible loss of items (currently 100% at adjusted for testing corruption penalties) and increased loss of gathered and processed goods.

Yeah, in a previous developer stream they shared some progress with their overhaul of the cleric skill tree to have more selections (ranks per active use abilities, so you could choose to strengthen certain skills) and choice of some passives.

I think with the new harbinger system, there will be quiet alot of fun PvP at the "endgame", otherwise you can always organize guild pvp or scrims, so i'd say there is alot of things you can make happen, hopefully more things to come soon and more organic pvp with harbinger

That is the starting amount. There are guild levelling mechanics meant to eventually be in game that will allow you to choose various perks that can increase members size over sacrificing other buffs selected. Stay small and have power, go big and not get those bonuses, but have power in numbers.

What class you think would be closer to a Death Night ?

They have said any sort of undead stuff would be coming from cleric, possibly summoner augments. So maybe a Fighter or Tank with the right augments would give you something like that. Fighter has AOE stuff they throw down that could be like a Death and Decay, have sustain. The problem is that augments have not been seen, just various proposals over the years, so no one knows outside of Intrepid what progress has been made and what form they will take for testing. They are planned for the second milestone after Harbingers, so months away, and the further out a plan is here the higher chance it will get pushed for another burning development fire that takes priority.

Why does the client patcher sometimes lock up the PC? making it almost impossible to run any other program at the same time while downloading / installing. This is the only game patcher i have seen that does this. along with the fact that the downloads get stuck for quite some time when downloading

Right now, the tank doesn’t feel like a real tank. It lacks resistance/defense and durability. The game is designed for massive battles, and currently, mages or rogues, among other classes, can kill tanks quite easily. They also lack protective skills. Maybe this will change in the future—there’s still a long way to go—but at the moment, they don’t feel like true tanks.

I think you'll need less space for the Steam install btw, because Steam has a more efficient download+extractin+install algo, should be closer to 130GB then...

also, just FYI the PTR version you're installing right now has some major bugs that they still need to iron out for the launch so it might not be a good experience

(for example nameplates for mobs are not showing, and ground foliage and textures are flickering / unloading a lot)

this is the last week you'll have to use their launcher because they are moving to Steam.
I don't think it'll get fixed as I doubt they'll put any more work into it.

The game launcher has very little optimization done to it. The install process takes and unpacks very large files and the few resources it has, the longer it takes. If you are trying to do other things while the game is updating or on a first install, you are going to have issues. They have said with how quickly they are changing things in the background that optimization to impact that would be minimal in benefit before it would just have to be repeated for the next iteration. So yes, many have this issue, and it will not change anytime soon.

I don't know who "keeps telling you" that info, but they are wrong. If you have Beta in a testing package, you will get access with the fresh start on Steam on Dec 11th. The livestream in 8-9 ish hours should give more details on that process.

1. Do we know individual server capacity? And how many servers at release?
2. The way node development works - will it prevent server mergers when populations diminish?

1. We don't know, but they can hold more than 8k and tech improved a lot since so possibly way more. (This is just a guess, but if people are spread out I don't see why it couldn't hold 15k-20k since they have a decentrailzed / meshed server solution). Server count will depend on the expected player count before launch. (They might give us more info on this today on the dev livestream).

2. I don't see how node development is related to that If population goes down they'll need to merge.

I'd like to play on a server without streamer or big pre-made guild influence. Let the community develop more holistically. I'm sure all servers will be at capacity at launch though - so I guess dodge big streamers and pre-mades.

I think that's impossible nowadays, and I doubt we'll have more than 2 EU and 3 NA servers, but we'll see. I assume they will start with 1/2 EU and 2 NA or something
