Hi there, looking for this to get in view of a dev 🙂

Soft-Lock as of the moment is unreliable to use as a halfway point to action combat for people who like to use right click to move their camera. It's accuracy is the problem, it constantly strays from focusing on whos infront of your character. The action combat accuracy is perfect so if theres a way you can use that for the aiming, it would be perfect and usable. Secondly, using auto attack after ability option as a replacement for starting your autoattacks with a dedicated button is unreliable aswell. WoW is a good example of a good autoattack system, whenever you press a button that is hotkeyed to an offensive ability, it will start autoattack. It does this regardless of if the ability is usable or not i.e, on cooldown, out of mana or out of range. In Ashes, it only activates if the ability is actually used, causing you to rely on the dedicated auto attack button far too often for it to be a reliable playstyle. I'm loving ashes of creation but ever since phase one I've been bringing this up on multiple formats including the bug report system and will continue until it's fixed honestly haha. This game is the first time I've had fun in an mmo since WoW but these two things are hindering my experience and I'm sure many more who share my playstyle. Please take this into consideration and thank you so much for all of your hard work.

Races are purely cosmetic. Any sort of "racial bonus" would come from what Intrepid calls "backgrounds" here. That feature while available at character creation currently has no stats or bonuses to it and is purely for rp till they implement it.

Yes, some of the costume appearances do not work. Once the game is available again make sure to /bug it. Open your character sheet and show that it is equipped, but it will show that there has been no change on your character. So when you hit /bug it will ask "take a screenshot?" hit Yes.

do POIs in group, killing 1-3 star mobs, those have higher chance for gear drops. You can craft yourself some basic armour and some weapons west of Lionhold. Check your map for Smithy etc. Also you can craft some basic magic weapons like wands, focus in the lab, north east of Lionhold. You will need to gather mats yourself, you will need ash, oak, daffodils, copper, zinc and basalt. Also some gold to pay for vendor stuff you can buy at those locations.

First and formost, join a guild, it makes life easier in Ashes. The current loot/gathering/crafting systems are raising some serious controversies, so hold on to your butt.

Yeah Anvil in the US only 2 nodes have tents. The rest is not even developed at all. Had to run from bonfire to Winstead to be able to be by people who could make them. But even the apprentice stations don't have them actively available to craft yet. Even with the proper cert in weapon smithing. But I feel ya. Had to make that trek where half of it was lvl 14+ one stars on a lvl 12 to river lands with Mats for when it finally works.

Spent a lot of time up in anvil. Kal Torm. Or the node near the port at the very top of the map. Outside that port there is the daffodils and Snow flowers all over the place as well with Flax. There are a few crows, hawks, and bandits there, lvl 9-15 depending on how far down the shore you go. Big patches only have one mob per huge patch so easy to pick them off to get a lot. Just takes 20-30 minutes to get there from river but it's a great place for those. (Re-replyed since did the wrong question)

One weird question. I have two characters (a cleric and a tank) in the anvils my tank seems to be constantly being hit by a red laser beam directed at my tank (no damage or anything but basically what looked to be a red laser beam ) in the southern parts of the anvils around the harbor coming from the west for the last two days. when I'm on my cleric down there nothing.. Now if it was lets say it was my computer I think it would be something I think would be from my graphic card. But yesterday, the group I was with also seen this red laser beam basically tracking me.... any ideas what it is?

I have soloed alot. ALOT. Im a cleric but, tbh, you can get better exp/hour sometimes in smol group, 1-2 others, or even solo. Find mobs that are -1 to +1 your level and have at it.

Also, gathering and processing gives crazy good exp. Grab some commission quests as well.

I got to lvl 11 not even trying and def not grinding, zero groups, chilling along. LVL 10 in mining/lumber/flowers

They are like "Citizen bucks" you earn them doing things for towns> They are not town specific. Once you are a citizen at lvl 10 you can spend them at the citizen vendor of the town you become a citizen in. Not sure what they will have this phase, but gear, items for making crates, other stuffs.

The good news is you get 1 point for utility and one point for specialization in the guild tree when you make it. So making it is worth while. Still figuring out which buffs are best for small guild. Might remake ours to change it since you can’t respec the guild which sucks

There are also guild xp tokens that can be made from trophy/emblems earned in the lawless areas.

Unsure how much you get for em - but it’s 3million (which seems like a lot) to gain your first guild level.

Imagine people will just put their crafters in a separate guild, which kinda feels like a bad design - though they’ll likely iterate more.

usually there are few of them, depending on where you start. I am not sure tbh about Anvil starter zone, in Riverlands there are few spots you can take quests. I think the picking up mount is part of bigger quest leading to another poi. and then you have few other quests and then usually commisions or mob killing.

yeah I havent checked much after the mount. After I got mount I went on to explore, found a small are for crafting and then went to explore further the world. I think there is one quest that leads you to small trade POI. But there are two exits from the mountain so it also depends on which route you took 😄 not the best solution but maybe go back and find the other route leading to other exit and there might be more. but will not put my hand in fire for that 😄

I have the game on an SSD, D drive, Samsung 870 QVO and it's <75% full, yet I've been patching for an hour and am only at 33%.

The questing is still being implemented. You can still do commissions which are not narrative quests, farm mob spots and pois, work on your artisan stuff. A range of stuff to do, but questing as a thing you do mainly will be a good while before it is viable. If you watch the latest livestream they go over what is incoming on that front over the next couple months.

Yep, might be just the way they set up the UI. Since you need a weaponsmithing table to craft it, but my guess is that once you do hit that table, you will be able to craft the artisan tools as long as you have apprentice in the gathering, and conversely, not able to if you don't.

you can change that setting in the launcher. If you're internet connection is 1GB and you can see network traffic at decent speeds then the bottle neck is your CPU. Regardless, you're not wrong the patcher brings my pc to it's knees as it's no slouch

Bit of a technical stat question but have had mixed answers in the past and not the easiest to test so would appreciate anyone's input if they feel they are sure about the answer:
In regard to accuracy and evasion, if someone has 10% physical accuracy for example and strikes a target who has 10% physical evasion, is the outcome essentially a reduction of their evasion to 0% or is it a reduction of their evasion to 9%?

Just going through the client being unoptimised with my friend - I don’t have super fast I only average 60mbps but when I download my entire bandwidth gets eaten and I tank down to 7mbps across my entire network. Recently, my computer frequently experiences a black screen issue. After the black screen, the computer becomes completely unresponsive, and the monitor displays "No Signal Input". I have to perform a hard reboot (force a restart) to get it working again. Even though I've set the in-game graphics quality to Low, the black screen still occurs intermittently. Had the same issue in almost every game, with a rtx 4080 and 9800x3d (especially dune awakening)

Check your eventmanager and see what errors you are getting before the hard reboot.

I had to update my Bios, replaced my Graphicscard cord (it was bending heavily, maybe not a 3080 problem), using an old nvidia driver now. Not sure what exactly fixed it in the end, but i also turned off all Overlays (Steam, Nvidia, Medal, Discord)

So - this issue occurred for me with my RTX 4090, and the issue turned out to be that Ashes of Creation isn't a very optimized game, and it caused my GPU to randomly fluctuate between high and low loads, which is ordinarily fine, however I had a GPU cable extension (cable comb/mod) from my GPU to the original GPU PCI power cable. This extension would fail during the inconsistently high and low load fluctuations resulting in me losing my display (display not found) despite still hearing in game sound, before eventually it would crash.
I then removed the extension, and as a precaution I also (prior to removing cable extension) I had already tried using DDU to remove all display drivers and full clean reinstall.

What I mentioned could indeed be a real cause. Since I use an ITX case and my graphics card is connected via a GPU riser cable, it might lead to the kind of sudden signal loss you described.

The EAC thing happens. Here is what you can do. You can go into the EAC directory and there should be a .bat file you can run that will install it. Then exit completely from anything Intreped and reload. Most have reported that fixed their issue. If it doesn't, your only other option is to completely remove everything Intrepid and reinstall. Not a simple Windows uninstall, follow this guide and clean out all the residual crap that gets missed. You are not the first that this has happened to, you won't be the last. Play with your update options if you haven't already. In the upper right corner of the launcher there is a cog menu. Click that and then select the third option and turn parallel options to 6. See if that helps. Many have reported it does.

Good luck. We have all been there at one time or another. Back in A0 I had a "game won't work issue" luckily at that time the testers were a small number, so I got a dev to walk me through my issues. Turned out it was a single toggle set wrong on my machine. It took them two hours of working with me to get it right. So while it sucks to have problems, eventually they will get fixed if you perservere.

You can transfer items between two accounts. Your question was passing your own items to your own alt is what I understood. Player to player trading is already working. If they tell you it isn't, they are scamming you.

You have to meet up in game to do it. There is no mailing of items.

And realize if it is RMT or gold selling related and you get caught, you will lose your account.

The game is not optimized. Won't be for a good long while. It is a large game in UE 5.6 It needs to do what your hardware needs to do to get it to run. Something sounds very wrong with your setup. What processor do you have, how much memory etc? Merging taking 12 hours and shaders taking forever / getting stuck.

Shaders compile in less than 30s here and the merge took about 10 minutes. My PC is "ok"

The launcher is a test, constantly being rebuilt, the game is a test, constantly being rebuilt. Yes it sucks that you are having issues, They are making updates everyday. Send in a ticket on the forums and provide absolutely as much info as you can, and perhaps one of the updates they deply sometimes several times a day will resolve your issue. You have to be patient. getting angry at something neither they, nor you can fix on YOUR timeclock helps neither them, nor you.

Freeholds in their early iteration did not turn out the way they wanted. So they pulled them and put them back into development. They will not appear again till later in the process once they feel they are ready to be seen again.

I usually play melee classes, tipycal jump in a group and slash till i die bringing a couple of souls back with me

The problem is that around the internet i keep on finding videos and guides that suggest to leave the melee dream for now, since the PVP is basically ranged (talking about group pvp, not 1v1... even because the 1v1 are extremely rare since the game is structured to farm, grind, etc in group)

Its early alpha testing, classes and whos good at what, change. It will continue to change. This isnt final game.
Any videos and guides are probably older phases. Classes are not even at max level yet and do not have their full toolkits, or secondary classes.

If you want to help test the game, its a fun time.

If you want some sort of structured class balanced game to play, then its probably best you wait until closer to launch.

After spawning in The Anvils I had full access to novice processing options (e.g. lumber milling), but when I moved to Lionhold the processing stations only show a single option. Lionshold stations are just for the noob quest to get the mount. The processing stations are to the West, and to the North east of Samias Hope (The other side of the starting area there)

There isn’t an exact area that is considered a starting area. You can basically adventure out in a direction and if you see mobs too high lvl for you, go a different way or go back to where you came from. That’s pretty applicable to lvl 1-7. After that the POIs are more spread out. But there are multiple ways and places to lvl up at every level
