RitchieSH on YouTube has a solo levelling guide but if you are grinding in a group I would go just south west of lionhold some otters and then highaway mens to level 7-8 and then church of seven stars which is just west of that to level 12ish maybe and then highaway hills north east of lionhold to level 16ish then sephillion (south of church) to 20/21 and then carphin tower northeast of highaway hills to 25 perhaps. There are plenty of other ways but this could be one. I have sent you a DM as well

Main thing is, servers are up. If you close launcher and open it and press login again it may ask you for credentials it may not but it should work if you have bought alpha 2 key but because you say you have played before it shouldn’t be a problem.

My personal opinion if you're not incredibly into the development of Ashes, I'd recommend waiting until the end of the year/start of next year before asking again about buying in.

Right now is a genuine alpha experience, almost certainly unlike anything you've seen before in an MMO unless you've done NDA'd Friends and Family testing for other MMOs

A lot of the core gameplay loops aren't fleshed out, a lot of core systems that make Ashes, Ashes, aren't even in, the ones that are in are incredibly early implementations.

I'd say a solid 99.9% (not hyperbole) of MMO players would not enjoy the current Ashes experience, solely because of how "alpha" the game currently is. So I recommend everyone interested in Ashes to check back again at the end of the year. It'll still be an alpha experience, but hopefully not as rough as it currently is

There does seem to be quite a lot of FPS and lag spikes since the last update. You can see them if you switch the FPS indicator on (shift-alt-f), FPS drops and latency spikes at the same time. It's definitely less noticeable in quieter areas, but still shows up as you cross server worker borders, although it's hard to find a pattern to it. Def worth /bugging, I don't think the European server will be Europe-based for Phase 3, the same as phase 2 I think it's still US-based, just flagged for Europe for convenience.

I agree 100% and I have reported some specific scenarios when FPS drops a huge amount atleast for me which it did not do prior to latest update. One example of this is opening the world map makes me go from 160 to 30-40 FPS for 10 seconds or so and then it gradually recovers.

Also entering busier areas makes it drop but it has done that for a long time the map thing however is only since last patch.

So I've been away for 2 months and I've just logged in, excuse me if im just missing something glaringly obvious, but I see only 1 US server and I'm in the EU. Do I have to play on this server? Pressing the changing realm button gives me no other servers to choose from.

The current US server is the only one.

It wipes Aug 4th when they plan to bring up a US and EU server.

That said, EU players have been competitive and surprisingly positive about the play experience with the slightly higher ping.

They limited it to one US server for the phase 2.5 extension (for June/July) to stress test population on one realm.

Population is down quite a bit on it now, as there’s a wipe in a month and no further content patches until then.

That said, they bring the PTR (private test realm) up for all alpha testers to play on a few days a week… and it will be up 24/7 for the second half of July. (Free levels/gear, focused testing on new features)

It’s a separate install, through the same launcher - with the limitation that you are not allowed to stream/share images from the PTR.

Game optimalization is terrible - i got used to this but when I press W (basicly moving) and want to open a map at the same time - game tooks EVERY SINGLE RAM and vRAM in the 2km distance. My neighbors said that I can't use map in this game anymore cause their computers are getting errors too.

On a rotating schedule, PoIs will become lawless overtime, with more experience gained from mobs, better loot tables, and more.

After a period of time, every player within that PoI will be flagged for PvP, and players can fight over the better rewards, such as relics and higher rarity gatherables

Would you be able to wait until after the server reset again at that same time in 7 hours and 15 minutes? Typically flagging and event bugs are resolved with these resets. If it isn't resolved, let us know. Also, make sure you report the issue and any details you can remember in game using /bug.

There isn't any shared storage so you're gonna need alts and friends to mule stuff between those alts, unless you can get a guild made with just your own alts in it. It is going to be a LOT of work to do all of the profession work yourself.

Farming initial mats, bootstrapping your crafting clothes to higher quality stuff so that you can then get better mats and make better stuff, repeating that process for all the professions you're involved in

And farming the mats is going to take a long time and have competition

Probably still early to ask but I was curious. I know that the summoner, depending on the secondary class, will be able to have multiple summons at once but will they also be able to use the combat pets together with the summons to pretty much have a small group that you control yourself?

The locked symbol means the channel isn’t open to anyone on the server. To gain access to those channels you had to choose a language in #read-me-first

So that’s why there is a lock on them. As Groggy said, it is unrelated to if you have access to type in them.

If you’re new to the game, I’d suggest not playing on Tuesday/Wednesday on the PTR. Your progress is not saved. You should focus on learning the game on the regular servers.

If that doesn't work, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling. Sometimes the launcher gets into a weird state, and a fresh download will get you around that

Also the "authenticating" pop up may be using a web browser (I believe default is Edge).

With the update to UE 5.6, people will out of date drivers or OS will crash more often. We're seeing the crash reports from PTR

If you're crashing a lot and you're on a system that should be able to run Ashes of Creation, make sure you've got your GPUs updated to the newest drivers. This seems to impact AMD and NVIDIA 5000 series cards the most

How much of the game lore is established st the moment? I'd be interested particularly about the religion and the gods. I have read there are 10 gods, 7 of which are worshipped in the pantheon and they helped people to escape Verra during the cataclysm, while the other 3 have been banished with their original creations, the Ancients. Is there anything said about the domain of these gods? What kind of force they command, what kind of things they are associated with? Are they individuals or more like eldritch beings living only in our heads and feeding on our emotions? Do different races worship different gods? Especially Tulnars who were abandoned when the gods evacuated the world.
Steven had originally stated he wants players to find out the lore themselves but there must be some kind of base mythology being told to kids as a starting point.

I'm currently quite interesred in the Cleric gameplay but the class fantasy is kind of ruined if I dont find any of the gods appealing 😄

It's 2 fold. Firstly, most people are unlikely to keep playing much after the first week atm. It's multiple years from launch, the game is not a game atm. So overall Intrepid will probably earn more money long run by charging $100 once than $15 a month during alpha testing.

Second, it limits the people that do buy in The current alpha state isn't what you want 99.99% of peoples first impressions to be. If they play now for a very low entry cost (e.g. $15 a month), there's a high chance they won't give the game a second chance when it actually releases

you should not play on the live servers anyways IMO, just stick with PTR, PTR has all the new stuff they are putting in for Phase 3.

This "game" is an alpha test and at the moment you need to buy alpha access key if you wanna test out the very raw version of the game that might come out in 3 years or so. Once it's out it will be playable with a monthly subscription.

Can someone please recommend me an in-depth (and up-to-date) overview on how PvP interactions work in AoC? Looking to understand the way it works and how impactful it is designed to be, compared to all other parts of the game (PvE, crafting, story,etc).

I've been reading this discord and watching (or skimming through) vods/vids for at least 10+ hours in an attempt to decide if now is a good time to back this project with my money, but the vast majority of everything that's done or talked about in written and video form is related to the PvP aspect, which leads me to believe it's an mmo with heavy PvP focus and such, not the type of game I'm looking for.
I'm 95% sure that nobody would create such an mmo after all the other such mmos that have came and gone, and it's just me being misinformed.

My personal opinion if you're not incredibly into the development of Ashes, I'd recommend waiting until the end of the year/start of next year before asking again about buying in.

Right now is a genuine alpha experience, almost certainly unlike anything you've seen before in an MMO unless you've done NDA'd Friends and Family testing for other MMOs

A lot of the core gameplay loops aren't fleshed out, a lot of core systems that make Ashes, Ashes, aren't even in, the ones that are in are incredibly early implementations.

I'd say a solid 99.9% (not hyperbole) of MMO players would not enjoy the current Ashes experience, solely because of how "alpha" the game currently is. So I recommend everyone interested in Ashes to check back again at the end of the year. It'll still be an alpha experience, but hopefully not as rough as it currently is

Ashes has a heavy PvP influence yes, the creators favourite MMOs of all time were ArcheAge and Lineage 2 for example. Ashes is officially marketed as a "PvX MMO". Both PvE and PvP in the open-world are things that will happen. You won't be able to play the game and avoid PvP, just like you can't avoid PvE.

I will say that players who are wanting to see the progress the game has made so far and get a taste of the core experience will probably like what they see. Especially from A2 phase 3.

But yes - if you're looking for an MMO to "play" then you're in the wrong place.

I've loved joining the PTR and testing the things that we have been asked to test on any given day. But I still haven't played Alpha 2 for this exact reason. I'm waiting for A2 phase 3 on August 4th to actually have my first experience of a "playthrough" and even then, I am very aware that the game is stil in Alpha, and the experience will be vastly different by the time beta comes around, and even more so when the game releases.

Maybe my question was not clear so I apologize. I was asking if this is planned to become a heavy-PvP-focused game (like AA, like AION, where you can't escape it and where it's 100% the most played feature), or is is planned to become more like GW2/WoW (where there is a lot of PvP, but in PvP worlds/arenas/competitive and it's not the most important feature of the game)

Is there anything I can do to stop/prevent Micro Stutters? I have a 4070 super, 14th gen i7 intel CPU, 32gb ram, and ashes installed on a samsung 990 nvme ssd. I cant get rid of micro stuttering to save my life.

I noticed its mostly tied to the Global Illumination, anything past high is unplayable. But even with all my settings on low I get a micro stutter once every 5-10 seconds or so

The way the game is right now, it’s very anti solo play. Tanks are needed in every PvE pug and I see one per party in most of the PvP content I’ve seen.

Right now there is basically almost nothing to do long-term. Quests are basic, crafting exists but there's no real big content, and PVP is basically the main thing you can actually do at "endgame", so it's where all the people go

It's a PvX game and PvP has a fair bit of impact but for the most part can be ignored, and nobody is going to be stupid enough to go corrupt on you in 99% of cases because the cost is huge and it gets them nothing
