Gathering Rating from pilons and gear seems pretty pointless at the moment cause you will be able to way more on master and grandmaster but then the recipes themselfs are pointless, are there any plans to make the rating from the jounreyman things matter for journeyman and below reccources for example, 500 mining rarity rating should be pretty good to farm copper but near useless for gold ore. Right now is a genuine alpha experience, almost certainly unlike anything you've seen before in an MMO unless you've done NDA'd Friends and Family testing for other MMOs

A lot of the core gameplay loops aren't fleshed out, a lot of core systems that make Ashes, Ashes, aren't even in, the ones that are in are incredibly early implementations.

I'd say a solid 99.9% (not hyperbole) of MMO players would not enjoy the current Ashes experience, solely because of how "alpha" the game currently is. So I recommend everyone interested in Ashes to check back again at the end of the year. It'll still be an alpha experience, but hopefully not as rough as it currently is

question i jump back on every once in awhile to re test the game but wanted to know if the way mobs are in the world is as intended or just not optomized like traveling next to a civilized town a well traveled road i get murdered by random pathed npcs..... like the world should be harrd but not being able to travel feels like its something not fixed? secondly is the current grind spot mechanics working as intended players just go in a corner in groups stand still and kill the same mobs and they respawn before you can even explore said camp/grind spot i know its in alpha im wondering if this is in as intended (supposed to just be this tough) or just not touched up yet because not being able to ride around roads has me constantly just logging

What level are you getting to? You should be able to get to 10 some what easy by doing quests. After that you can explore the world as a whole. Some spots are more dangerous than others. Doing it with more than one makes it easier. I solo most of the time. I am level 16 and live comfortably in Hecribba, a jungle node far off from any T3 node

how long would you say it takes to get to lvl 10 i got to 25 in p2 also i was outside winstead riding back to samias hope on horse multiple times just blatantly attacked by mobs on a civilized road well traveled and killed

dont get me started on roads in the desert I die all the time im currently lvl 8 you shouldnt need friends to travel on roads when level 8 just seems terrible broken and the mob girnding thing seems so broken also just dont know if its not touched up yet

Yes, I would say that experience is still the same. I enjoy it, but totally get how some would find that frustrating. The leveling pace seems about the same to me, but I fight mobs solo. I do most of my leveling near or around nodes. I am not much for hanging out in one spot "grinding" mobs but it seems that is still the way to level. Maybe after August or the start of next year they will have adjusted that.

Does anyone know of any resources to look into the future plans for animal husbandry? I tried Reddit (I know bad spot), tried searching in discord but might not have been in the right place. YouTube I haven’t found anything, but won’t give up.
I am really enjoying animal husbandry however the cost to xp gain is really rough. Plus beast of burden just means I am out of the gold for it. I know this is alpha so I am not too worried about it. I heard animal husbandry will be really cool. I would really like to stick with it.
I noticed other artisan aspects earn more xp and the cost vs gain is a better deal. Plus not to mention marketplace value- way to earn money is better. While trying to level my hunting (apprentice lvl 16) and animal husbandry (apprentice lvl 11), my husband was able to earn way more by promoting multiple to artisan skills to apprentice and journeyman. Plus not to mention his gains through market. We play at the same time for same amount of time. So grind per reward definitely seems off. But enough with my little rant. I still really love the game and animal husbandry. Just curious for future and if it would be a good move for me to have during phase 3 and onwards.

Dungeons in Ashes are predominantly open-world. There are currently zero instanced dungeons. Questing is in a very barebones state with the first rework/iteration on them planned to be in by August 4th

All content in the game can be explored in just a month. At the moment, there are literally no points of interest in the game - crafting is expensive and pointless (10th legendary-quality equipment is almost always worse than its 20th-level counterparts obtained from named mobs), open PvP can only be found in the tropics, and even then extremely rarely (and PvP itself is only conducted for four named mobs on three islands), no one runs caravans because they bring too little gold, and there is nothing to spend the gold on, since no one farms or sells anything interesting. The only thing worth doing in this game is contractual scrims and participating in tournaments. Otherwise, it's really better to wait for new content to appear, unless you're crazy like us and enjoy suffering and watching all stages of development 😄

Would I be right in saying that most gear will come from artisan crafting? so I would need to either buy/craft Novice gear though 10 and apprentice gear through 20 and then journeyman for 20+?

Yes, I believe that’s the intent.

The current state of alpha 2 phase 2.5 is different.

Currently, you get some starting gear from questing. Remaining starting spots can be filled by crafting.

Currently, crafters can make level 10 gear, some can also be purchased with node tickets… but crafting uses a significant amount of materials. I’ve made and listed a few pieces. It sells… but it takes too much running around to gather/buy mats… and the apprentice tailoring station was placed all the way out in the desert, which is annoying to get to.

The nodes haven’t built the stations to support lvl 20 artisan gear… with the planned wipe coming Aug 4, lack of JM crafting stations, and high amount of resources needed for JM lvl 20 gear - the artisan gear isnt able to be made. Instead, people can farm mobs and hope for lvl 20 item drops to use/list.

Perhaps the economy update in the dev stream this Friday will address some of the current alpha concerns.

ah right got ya, so I have currently used the surplus equipment's tokens I got from 2nd sword outpost quest to get a bow (I'm a ranger) and got some gear from the fast safe sure quest, I imagine the next step would be to get that artisan level 10 gear, then grind for some level 20 either through buying or drops

Apologies for all the questions but just trying to clear some up, the "independent" smithy, hideworks etc for example the ones in the riverlands ion joeva, are these permanent places? or have these come up as the node has developed? do the players have an impact on what type of station these will be?

In Joeva, for example, they built lumbermills - where you can process willow and planks. Those were built by the mayor setting buy orders, people filling them, then the mayor using those node resources (+node gold) to construct the building.

That I understand but outside of the actual village there are some places I noticed like the herbalism vendor mill and hide works which are independent just east of 2nd sword outpost, what sort of affect do players have on these if any? also some similar ones around Winstead in the south

The server “plan” for JM buildings put some essential buildings (weaving/tailoring) far away - in nodes that don’t generate much gold - delaying their ability to develop… combined with the shorter lifespan of this phase, there’s not much drive to get there.

Those buildings are fixed. They give you a place to promote/demote artisanship (but not craft).

Correct. You can’t make the gather tools there, but you can raise/lower skills… since you are limited to having no more than 5 things at apprentice or above.

So sometimes people just raise all their skills, then wonder why they can’t promote something further…. Those buildings are fixed on the server and guarantee they have a way to lower a skill and correct things to continue building their artisanship.

Similarly, they sell some things that are helpful... Enchanting essence for scrolls. Cotton seeds for cotton thread. Copper rings for deconstruction.

Just been looking at some items to go for for my ranger build, on the wiki its stating the rarity levels can range from uncommon-legendary, do the drops from the named mobs vary in rarity, so one time it might drop the uncommon version and another it might drop a legendary version? so if I wanted a higher tier version I would continue to farm said mob even though I have the item at a lower level?

Citizenship is becoming a citizen of a node it doesn't have much benefits for certain archetypes more so how you want to play out your artisanship's depending on what is where, you can become a citizenship of any node starting at level 10

The reason I asked is because when you become a citizen you can get the related nodes cloak and each are different with different stats 🙂

People often pledge to a city, get the cloak, equip it, then denounce citizenship/ pledge elsewhere (making sure not to unequip the cloak).

Hello , I was wondering about recipes. I'm a little confused. I understand that using higher quality items has a better chance of producing a higher quality item. But, do recipes themselves have different rarities? Idk if it's hard to see in the photo. But, recipes have a space that says "Common" I haven't seen any others but, I've not played long. The other is in the photo it shows a blue item. Where all the recipes I've picked up have shown common items. The Wiki says "Recipes have differing rarities and may be locationally dependent." but that seems to be from a live stream in 2022. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Potion launchers are mounted to vessels. If you’re curious about something that isn’t mentioned anywhere, you can always try to get a response from the creative designer by putting a short and well composed question together and at’ing him in discord “at stevenjs”. Or you could ask the question during a livestream in this channel. They often take questions from here to answer during the Q&A portion of the livestream which is once a month. The next one is in less than 2 days.

If I get killed by a player(killer) outside of pvp. What can that player loot from me. Can they loot my armor/weapons or is it only the things in my bags?

depends, there is a nice chart of the corruption system, but basically a non combatant loses glint and some mats, combatants lose 50% less and corrupted players up to 400% in some cases as well as gear

All this as well as an xp debt and damage to your gear and stat dampening

So to answer your question as a non combatant, the player will be able to loot glint and mats from you

They said it correctly. You lose less materials/glint if you flag for pvp versus if you let someone kill you without you flagging. But if they kill you then they become corrupt. So someone may start hitting you hoping you flag up and might not actually kill you if you don't because the punishment for corruption.

I have a question about gear drops, been looking through the codex and it seems a lot of the gear drops from pretty much every humanoid mob, am I right in assuming that the majority of gear can be dropped from humanoids? And if so what level rarity do they drop at? Is that also a random chance?

So take bone earrings for example, I could go through the process of crafting the item or according to ashes codex I could farm mobs? Which raises another question what does the level of the mob affect if anything? For example i could farm the graveside creepers which are level 10 or highwaymen at around 14-15?

The drops from mobs are usually green or grey, with some being blue, and very very few being heroic, and even lower from there. I’m not sure when the last time they tweaked it was, but if you want higher rarity gear, you basically need to craft it all.

The mob lvl affects what lvl items drop, 1-9 drop lvl 0 gear, 10-19 drop lvl 10 gear, 20+ drop lvl 20 gear.

Since it is an early test environment, having GMs fix everyone's problems, or try to, would cost way too much money. The expectation we're expected to go in with is, things might break. Things might not work. All we can do is bug report it and move on.

Hey guys. When I first bought the game, one of the parts of the package I bought was "username reservation"

Well I never saw any place to enter my username to reserve it, but my first character I made it was available so I just assumed now that I took it, I have it locked in.
Well several server updates and wipes and resets later... Now someone else has my username.

Unfortunately this happens to everyone. You have to patch and walk away basically unless you're super patient with things loading. Discord VC is definitely not useable during the patching. While it will get fixed eventually, it's just something we have to deal with for now.

There was a patch today. Sometimes patches can take longer than a fresh download for the current state of the game. Players in more remote areas or those who have weaker internet suffer a bit from the time it takes to update. I'd suggest closing everything else on your computer and walking away from it. So, the game kinda suffers in terms of performance at this point. Going all on low is not optimal, you will find out that some settings might run worse on low than on medium for example. I would go on overall settings a select ultra, then, just take each settings one by one on go a bit lower. You should definitely select illumination on medium. Shadows, anti aliasing and foliage would be my next guesses

So you remove the Herbs and trees from the around the nodes but lowered the crafting requirements to something more manageable, great, we are finally going in the right direction. I'd like to do some tailoring, but all I can find now are Moonbells. I can honestly say that I find at least 15 moonbells to 1 Bluebell. As far as I know, Moonbells are worthless for anything else than leveling your weaving skill. Why not just make them all Bluebells and no more Moonbells. You will find harvestable hunting horse spawns all over the Riverlands. You will need to explore to find them but they are static spawn points for the moment. At the moment animal husbandry only features creating mounts and beasts of burdens. If you find the animal husbandry building at a level 3 node you will see your options.

Hey Thorbis! That’s a great question.

According to the official Ashes of Creation wiki, there’s no specific mention of tools like VoiceAttack, but Intrepid has shown clear support for accessibility in other areas—like UI scaling, bold fonts, hover‑over casting, double‑tap AOE targeting, color adjustments, and more.

As long as VoiceAttack is used purely as an accessibility aid mapping voice commands to simple keypresses because someone can’t use their hands—it should be fine. It doesn’t automate gameplay, so it doesn’t fall into the cheating or botting category.

That said, since it’s not explicitly addressed in the rules, it’s always wise to open a support ticket and request written confirmation just to be 100% safe.

Also, keep in mind this is still Alpha testing! Intrepid continues to improve usability and expand accessibility features over time. What isn’t mentioned now might very well be officially supported later.

The Alpha Two Phase II stuff (maroon) is the Shol (Alpha Two) server that you can stream on (roughly Thursday-Monday). It’s currently US based, but EU players report the ping is fine.

On Aug 4th, that gets wiped and we expect two new servers to be brought up 24/7 for Phase 3 (one EU and one US)

Many people will be checking out the PTR (even though they can’t stream there) to get glimpses at new features (such as changes to momentum/fall damage/enemy damage scaling, new races, dynamic gridding server tech, etc)

Yes. You could play for hundreds pf hours and as long as you request the refund within 90 days they'll give you it

Support will take a few days or even a week or so to get back to you though, so don't panic if you request a refund and don't get a response in a couple days (especially if you request said refund on a Friday night since they don't work weekends)

Currently, Ashes of Creation is still running on FSR 3.1.3, while AMD has already released FSR 3.1.4, which brings notable improvements in both visual clarity and performance consistency.

Some of the key enhancements in FSR 3.1.4 include:

• Significantly reduced ghosting, especially in disoccluded areas and fast-paced movement.

• New control parameters like r.FidelityFX.FSR3.ReactivenessScale and ShadingChangeScale, which allow fine-tuning the frame generation behavior.

• Fixes for memory leaks and issues related to dynamic resolution scaling.

• Improved Vulkan & DX12 stability, particularly on certain driver versions and swapchains.

Considering how critical visual clarity and responsiveness are in an MMO with both PvE and PvP focus, we believe FSR 3.1.4 could offer meaningful benefits—especially for users relying on frame generation or using AMD hardware.

leveling is a bit hard, but usually grinding mobs gives the best xp, there are some pocket dungeon but never did them. there are some quests as well but effort-reward is not that great yet
