Are there plans to have an option to turn off the exclamation point for crits? If we have complete control over the color of auto attack, ability, and crit damage and we can differentiate them subjectively with color, the exclamation point is less desirable, at least for me. I'm thinking about purchasing access to the alpha, but I would like to know your opinion regarding the current state of the game. Is it already possible to have an immersive experience? What are your current goals within the game, and in what aspects can you already find some enjoyment in its current state?

If you're not incredibly into the development of Ashes, I'd recommend waiting until the end of the year/start of next year before asking again.

Right now is a genuine alpha experience, almost certainly unlike anything you've seen before in an MMO unless you've done NDA'd Friends and Family testing for other MMOs

A lot of the core gameplay loops aren't fleshed out, a lot of core systems that make Ashes, Ashes, aren't even in, the ones that are in are incredibly early implementations.

I'd say a solid 99.9% (not hyperbole) of MMO players would not enjoy the current Ashes experience, solely because of how "alpha" the game currently is. So I recommend everyone interested in Ashes to check back again at the end of the year. It'll still be an alpha experience, but hopefully not as rough as it currently is

Dont buy if you're expecting a solid immersive experience with lots of content and stuff to do. You're testing a very barebones version of the alpha with about 15% of the total systems in the game. some of which are placeholder. So if you wanna test and report bugs then go right ahead. If not, check back in P3

Was there something in a recent update that changed how weapons swap on abilities?

Asking cause previously when i had my ranged weapon active and then used a melee skill it would pull out the melee weapon for the melee execution but then put me back to having my ranged weapon out so i could continue attacking with it.

But today while ive been killing wolves after i use a melee skill and start attacking again it still has my melee wapon out and i keep having to manually swap back to my ranged weapon after each time i use a melee ability.

Edit: or did they add some kind of dealy to the swap back? cause after about 2 seconds it switches back if i dont attack or use another skill

Your issue today is how I personally liked it when I was playing a couple of months ago. I'm not sure if it is client side or server side. There was nothing in the patch notes that I've seen, but updates often have unforeseen effects that aren't always noticed. If you think this is an issue/bug, please report it in game. one of the scorpions if you have the money. broodlings are somewhere in the 15-20 gold range (175% speed). the other scorps display 155% but are bugged to 175 iirc, can you can get those for as low as 8-9 @granite vigil

The next upgrade would be any of the tier 2 horses like the midnight mare, obsidian stallion, or runic steed. If Journeyman mounts are in the game already, then the plumed halberdier would be the fastest option that isn't extremely expensive. But it very well still could be since there are more players on this server than prior servers and I don't believe spawn locations or times have changed for the mount huntables.

• back story: I Haven't been on game since end of 2024, I Downloaded/updated via the launcher recently, Tried to get on, the game in starter area gives me repeated crashes with error report ( I sent )- then soon after I Had a complete freeze-up, couldn't exit but got out eventually. Also it seems like the game is trying to download or update files in the loading screen, and is doing this every time, not sure if it ever finished or finishes.

There is no limit on name changing in other discord servers. If you start your own you can invite all your guildies to it and change your name as many times as you want.

crashes will happen often, and depending on your specs and what else is running on your pc it could impact you more than others. crash reports help a lot.

Don't forget to clear your crash log cache every once in a while because those files build up

I also have heard turning OFF the "super resolution" setting in game helps with crashing a lot, so I'd check your setting and see if that box is checked.

@unique blade Yes, anything to framegen or upscaling increases the rate crashes can occur, and that is in any game the case. Mostly noticable on AMD GPUs. Super Resolution changes the resolution of your game ingame.

For example: If you play on 4k with 50% Super Resolution, it renders the game resolution to 2k (and upscales it through AI with the desired Super Resolution Sampling to output resolution).

That increases Framerate, but also changes visual quality. Some like it, some dont.

By setting it to 100%, the resolution stays the same. You can also choose the super resolution sampling to something you like. That way it only changes the Anti Aliasing. 🙂

Sorry, grappling hook pulls you to a target, not the other way around. using it to evade enemies also is just good strategy. A rogue is supposed to have the best mobility in the game

Exploiting and harassing aren’t the same thing though. If someone is constantly harassing you and not fighting you, preventing you from doing anything, that may be considered reportable due to harassment

You really need to read more about the game and what you are getting into. It really isn't going to be a consistent game experience for a while. It s nothing like early access. That's a great question! We're currently in our Alpha phases, with Beta still to come before the full release. Ashes of Creation's Alpha is a bit different from other games; it's a true Alpha, meaning the game is still very much a work in progress. Players who are testing now are helping us find bugs and give feedback as we build. Because of that, we currently wipe as needed, so characters created now won’t carry over when the game officially launches. We do try to keep wipes to a minimum since they're disruptive, but the next one will be on August 4 with the start of the next testing phase.

Your Alpha key gives you access to both Alpha and Beta testing. Once the game goes live, it will move to a monthly subscription model.

If you're not incredibly into the development of Ashes, I'd recommend waiting until the end of the year/start of next year before asking again.

Right now is a genuine alpha experience, almost certainly unlike anything you've seen before in an MMO unless you've done NDA'd Friends and Family testing for other MMOs

A lot of the core gameplay loops aren't fleshed out, a lot of core systems that make Ashes, Ashes, aren't even in, the ones that are in are incredibly early implementations.

I'd say a solid 99.9% (not hyperbole) of MMO players would not enjoy the current Ashes experience, solely because of how "alpha" the game currently is. So I recommend everyone interested in Ashes to check back again at the end of the year. It'll still be an alpha experience, but hopefully not as rough as it currently is

Beta is far off. Shol is the current regular server for the 2.5 phase test until August, when Alpha P3 hits and we get US and EU server again, along with as near 24/7 uptime as the team can manage.

for me its so far so good, i am enjoying it and reckon itll hold my attention for a long time yet even in its current state especially that i think ive found a guild thats been great to me already (highly recommend on planning to join a group/guild or such as soloing can be painful though), playing a rogue at the moment and exploring a lot, climbing up mountains and being able to travel across huge landscapes with no 'instancing' between regions on an MMO is pretty wild to me still (settings like foliage are reduced on these i gotta take better ones/mess with settings more)

there is currently a memory leak issue i think with the client and quite a few other issues but normal for a game/alpha in testing, the above is despite these issues.

but i dont know what your preferences or expectations are so YMMV still, i use to work in 3d animation and do have a bit of an idea of how much work is involved and played several other mmos like eve online/wow/gw2 etc etc, but i know some people have higher expectations (which, nothing wrong with that! especially for 100USD)

Is there a way to lower the graphics for the game? In terms of the AOE drops? My husband is sensitive to the flashes. We were at halls of judication yesterday and he was starting to get seizure symptoms. He is playing tank and he really likes it. But the flashes are starting to bother him. He had no issues in bigger areas such as the church and HH.
We played with a group of clerics no issues with the same AOE drops. But with numerous mages it seemed to trigger. No issues with groups of fighters.
My husband is tank and I am cleric.

my PC has a bottleneck issue with the GPU linked with the older CPU ( the GPU is 40 series ) - would running the game in a lower res say 1920x1080 help for now you think? At least till I can do a new build or upgrade etc.. currently with the bottleneck; and maybe the cause, I Get crashes, and GPU crash errors. I Plan to upgrade or do new setup for the CPU/MOBO/COOLER etc.. and transfer my card + other parts. -- normally with this display I'd be running 1440 res.

   Unfortunately, i think that's all for now. The game is not optimized, so i can't even tell you to up shadows because that'll increase your gpu usage, as right now that will likely use both cpu and gpu... to resolve bottlenecking you want to increase load on your stronger component. So you want to make your gpu work harder. Try increasing your resolution. And if your computer starts to scream, turn it off

Try checking your bottleneck rating online, because ashes is not a great way to test bottlenecking, as unreal engine when not optimized eats cpu for breakfast lunch and dinner, much more than like, an unoptimized unity game.

Hey Gang! I have a question for clarification, before I report bug!!!

I am in Aithanahr, and just throwing things into the Alchemy table to level it up. Through my Proccessing refference tab, it shows me the cost of Novice Health Salve is 5 copper.

Once i got to the Alchemy table to process, I noticed that the cost is sitting at 9 copper.

My clarifying question; is there any in game reason that the price listed in my Processing Tab would be different than the requested cost at the table? Taxes? Something i may be ignorant of?

Hey, I'm new couldn't really play much of the alpha till now because of some pc issues. They're 100% better now. So I'm a lvl11 Fighter. I have all the gear you can get from those medallions. I have some green pieces I've made. I'm trying to grind out the levels. Here's my problem and maybe it's skill issue. I'm probably bad. But, I can't really kill anything my lvl. So I was trying to fight some highwaymen that are my level. 1:1 is fine. But, if another one runs up I'm dead instantly. It also seems like the same mob will be harder than the one next to it. Like one Archer is way buffed compared to the one right next to it. Am I just bad or am I doing something wrong? Also I see others in different classes that are lower level killing mobs breezy. They probably have better gear and that but still. IDK just looking for pointers. I seemed to have hit a brick wall. I was leveling up on those ice spiders in the cave. I killed them fine. Now I'm just stuck.

its much better to level in a group. Killing 2-3 star mobs will give the best xp, but theyre harder to kill. Youll be able to kill more if youre in a group. There are mobs that can easily be solod like monitaurs and shards

Lvl 12 fighter is a massive power spike for soloing npcs. You unlock your lifesteal ability.

Blocking seems pretty useless at this point unless you’re a tank in a group. I wouldn’t waste your time since you’re losing out on dmg

There are huntable grems out in the world. You need to find those ones which have white circles above their heads. They don’t move and you don’t have to kill them.

I’ve mostly only played fighter. It is a lot of fun, but yes, it has been seen as not as strong as other classes. Especially in PvP since it can be challenging to engage in large scale PvP without getting instantly nuked.

But I don’t really mind, I’d rather enjoy my class and abilities and figure out how I can make the most of my kit

There are material storages at all nodes, but also one in the starter zones of Samia’s Hope and Lionshold. Your items bag items never drop when you die, only your materials section (50% keep, 25% drop on corpse, 25% deleted from game).

There are issues with Processing when using materials of different rarities. As we work on a fix for this, here’s a workaround that works for many recipes:
Select a single-ingredient recipe that uses the material you want to process. Select the rarity you wish to process here, and only have the rarity of material in your inventory that you want to process

If you're not incredibly into the development of Ashes, I'd recommend waiting until the end of the year/start of next year before asking again.

Right now is a genuine alpha experience, almost certainly unlike anything you've seen before in an MMO unless you've done NDA'd Friends and Family testing for other MMOs

A lot of the core gameplay loops aren't fleshed out, a lot of core systems that make Ashes, Ashes, aren't even in, the ones that are in are incredibly early implementations.

I'd say a solid 99.9% (not hyperbole) of MMO players would not enjoy the current Ashes experience, solely because of how "alpha" the game currently is. So I recommend everyone interested in Ashes to check back again at the end of the year. It'll still be an alpha experience, but hopefully not as rough as it currently is

Why do you choose to show all locations and all tasks involved in a quest at one time? You would think as you are creating these you would only show one task at a time and one location at a time, so the process is logical. lvl 10 gear you can either buy from a towns Market, get from drops, or some gear you can buy from citizen vendors (if you are a citizen of a town). You get Citizen tickets currency from doing buy orders (turn ins are beside the storage clerk).

Can also get some gear made but its rough right now. There are some big changes to crafting that are coming, but not in game yet.

Some guilds have gear swapping and pass down gear to lower levels who are active. Not sure if you are in a guild or not.

Relog – Log out completely and back in. That sometimes resets boat physics.

Use the main "Unstuck" button from the system menu. It should teleport you to a nearby safe zone.

If that doesn’t work, try pressing the * key on the number pad, it might help.

Hi Norse, there are no roles. It’s either you are a citizen or your not. I guess you could be the mayor, but that’s a very challenging feat. Typically requiring hundreds of people to vote for you.

Once you hit lvl 10, you can become a citizen of any node for free, but then you have to pay recurring taxes to maintain citizenship and the benefits it comes with.

Will we retain access to testing servers for the game long after the game is officially out?

I.e. testing new content prior to release on the official servers? Say two or three years down the line?

Or is there just going to be one massive wipe when the game launches officially?

The game will fully wipe prior to launch so everyone starts fresh. The Alpha servers will then turn into the PTR servers for testing future content post launch

I tried opening the launcher and got this message. I went to the website and downloaded and repaired the launcher but got the message again. I deleted my launcher and installed a new one, but I again received the message. What should be my next step?
