Yeah, currently it appears that they haven’t really optimized for both performance, and disc space. Which isn’t a problem as this is Alpha. However I would imagine that they should update the requirements for Alpha to specifically call out that it uses much more than they currently officially state.

Are there any tweeks that can be made to reduce VRAM usage on my RTX 3080? I go from 0.3 to 9.7 GB used out of 10 when the game launches in town, and still close to 9 GB out in the wild. That's with resolution on the lowest setting and everything else low as well.

You never had it. The mayor decides what gets built next in the node through use of his mandate points (intended system) if you don't like what your individual mayor makes as a decision, then you remove them (intended friction point), or if enough people decide to not give the resources to finish the project, they "vote" that way.

yeah, basically.
certain bugs prevent the game from freeing up allocated memory, and it adds up over time.
by restarting the game you free up ALL memory used by the process, so you can start from 0.

some people have to restart it every 30m-1h because they run out of memory quickly.

@idle siren can we do another wipe before august and try without monster/boss item drops? I would love to see how the game plays out when people actually need to buff out nodes and professions in order to efficiently level up and empower their characters. The golden path right now renders the professions pretty obsolete.

Grinding to max level in novice gear should be such a slog that it is more efficient to stop at some point, spend time on professions, nodes, get gear and THEN continue grinding. That being said, since max level is 25 at the moment, it is easier to grind it in BIS novice (sanctus) gear.

Bosses/monsters should still drop some form of crafting mats, so there is still good reason to fight over them (which is hella fun). Also would be nice to see some more mini purple regions in each node with some high value mats or something worth fighting over so that there are some good local PVP spots sprinkled around the map. It sucks to have to spend 30m (or more) just to get a group to travel the map to a purple region to "look for" PVP.

Due to you attacking back, you will have both been purple(combatants) which means there is no Corruption punishment for the survivor because it was "consensual" pvp and they will loose the purple tag of PvP in 90 seconds. Going back to being a non-combatant/green and no punishments.
If you did not fight back and they killed you, they would have been killing a non-combatant and they would have turned red/Corrupted.

When I log in, I can reach character creation. Once I select my character and press play. I usually get a blackscreen for a few min, crashes after.

Why does your game take 30 minutes to launch and longer to even play? I'm getting more playtime in black screens than I have staring at a TV turned off. as of rn; you can only equip cloak from the node you are a citizen from, the workaround that people use is they become citizen of the node they want the cloak from, equip it and never unequip it again, after that as long as you keep it equipped the cloak stay on you no matter your citizenship

I have a few questions...
I was interested in this game since like 4 years ago and I've been checking it's development every now and then.
Idk if these questions are asked often, I was looking through FAQ and Reddit but I couldn't get any concrete answers.

  1. Is there a server that doesn't get wiped? If no, how often do servers wipe?
  2. I know this game has a massive time sink so for someone that doesn't play a lot, maybe a few hours in the evening every day, can I still progress and help the development even though I don't test all the features
  3. I am a very casual player and I mostly like doing crafting, gathering and anything chill and laid back. Would I still be a good game tester ? Or is this just not for me right now and I should maybe wait for the release.
    I do really want to contribute to this game's development but I am just worried that I may be not a good person for it, are most people here hardcore MMORPG players ? Or are there also some casual players just chilling in game?
    Sorry if these questions are often asked, I just didn't get my answers from other sources.

Can any bards out there explain the differences between wand and shortbow. Not sure if it’s feels over reals, but it seems like the shortbow hits harder. Updating bios has worked for some. Others recommended a mix of settings, not just all low, all medium or all high. The game is in no way optimized for the various setups people are trying to run, so you gotta play with the settings and such. Stay at it. Literally thousands of other people have gotten it to run and hundreds to thousands are playing right now. Persistence in a testing environment is key.

Just upgraded my PC.

I used to have an i7-7700K processor, Asus A170-A motherboard, and 32GB of DDR4 Ram.

I just upgrade to an i9-12900K processor, Asus Z790 Motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5 Ram, and the game will not work/load. I go to the character selection screen, hit PLAY and I just get a black screen until the game just crashes.

Nodes and their type and position are fixed regardless of level. You will always be able to see the "cork"

If one is blasted back to zero in a siege loss, it will appear (if it gets advanced again) in exactly the same spot. This is a change from earlier plans that they wanted to have a few locations per "node zone" that would be determined by the world manager. Apparently it was too complex of a step to throw onto their world manager. Similar how nodes no longer delevel from a siege loss, but are blasted back to zero, because to the down ballot impact on vassalization and other factors.

Make sure to get everything when you uninstall. Use this as a guide. Realize that Intrepid has said that 100gb memory is the minimum, but it is higher than that during install. During the install process a bunch of processes are unpacked in memory, so it can use a larger, variable amount. If it sees that it doesn't have enough for that process it either hangs or aborts. You are not the first person to have the "But I have enough, just barely, so it should work!" experience. It is like anything else new Intrepid tries. It is a setting they will fix or play with once they notice it is there. The point of that is to give people notice (granted, not so often) because sieges change the world and are important. They would rather people know, than say "I never knew a siege was incoming, I lost all my stuff cause I was offline, and now I am sad. I want to leave!"

Yep, the game wont work on HDD, there is not enough transfer rate to Intrepid's servers. You get timed out. The game requires an internal SSD. Anytime you are marginal with a testing product, you are going to run into issues. It sucks, but it is what it is. Now if EVERYONE could not get into the game, then they would have an issue on their side. If a few fallen soldiers are sacrificed along the way? Well, you are a good data point.

how do people get gear with out doing the surplus token quests? you dont get curency from quests and it seams the only way to get gear is to buy on the market? you cant sell on the market till lvl 10 so it seams you have to sell resourses to vendors for pennys till you are lvl 10 and even then you are doing this in starter clothes. just curious how people got some gear or cash to buy some

The general vendor near the auction house who is near the surplus token vendor does sell some gear but please doublecheck the value of getting something for surplus token vs silver, most low level starter gear doesnt typically have a lot of stats, BIS gear is legendary because an increase in rarity means more tertiary stats on the weapons or armor. Please get the surplus token gear, supplement it from the nearby vendor who sells for silver and get sanctus gear first. Then, once you hit 10-19 youll be SCROUNGING for any relevant lvl 10 or lvl 20 gear. Everyone is going to level, depending on pace and if theyre keeping alts at a specific lvl to farm drops but i digress, so because we assume lvl is 25 flat, the only differentiating factors are gear, and skill. Gear is SO important but do not fret over it too much at a relatively low level, pick up what you can but focus more on the gameplay and learning your class(es)

Also, if youve looked up builds, many are outdated and none apply to lower leveling, GEAR specifically, so go out f stuff up and heal ya bois and gals

Why do we get character xp while gathering ressources?

It's really easy and fast to gain xp with just gathering and crafting.

Please remove this xp, it's really too easy to lvl up without any fight.

Fight = xp
Craft = craft xp

Thank you for the huge work you do, it's a really nice game.
Btw, do not increase copper/ruby/zinc... drop. It is really easy to get those.
Don't answer to the impatient players.
This game deserve real good players, not kids who just want everything in an instant.

It's not likely, I've got it. I had to create 2 characters, log in to the 1st, then log out and log in to the main character, although I did the same thing yesterday and it didn't help me. It seems to be working now
