There is no box cost for the game. The current $100 pack gets you access to all current and following testing, and a month of sub once the game eventually releases. There is no subscription active during testing. Whether it is worth it to you depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a finished game to play and keep progression like T&L, this ain't it. If you are looking for a testing client in early alpha with unannounced downtimes, bugs, performance issues, and overall frustration, then this may be the title.

You don't. While some groups have figured out spawn timers and camp them, Intrepid is looking to randomize the spawns and to make them more of an event that is dynamic rather than camped. Providing timers would negate that.

There are toggles in options that prevent your heals from landing on flagged players to keep you from flagging by mistake. I would check to see if you have those ticked. Realize that if you heal someone who is flagged for pvp, you become flagged.

I'm currently playing the Ashes of Creation Alpha. I can launch the game and reach the character selection screen without any issues. However, after clicking "Play" to enter the world, the screen turns black and nothing happens.

Restarted my PC

Completely reinstalled the game

Updated Windows

Started the game as Administrator

as I understand it, after collecting t2 there is a chance that t3 will be there instead. but due to the fact that the node level is only at t2. now most of the deposits are purely t3 without the possibility of t2 respawn. after the servers were raised from the weekend, it is almost impossible to find t2 resources. is it possible to return the previous resource respawn settings?

My recommendation to people not super into Ashes is to wait until late this year/early next year and check back in. At the very least wait until Phase 3 starts (due August 4th) as currently they're going through a stress test period

I'm currently participating in the Ashes of Creation Alpha and have been running into a consistent issue.

The game launches without any problems, and I can reach the character selection screen. However, once I click "Play" to enter the game world, the screen turns black and nothing else happens — no loading screen, no sound, and no error message. It just remains stuck on a black screen.

Interestingly, after the recent fix that was released yesterday, I was able to enter the game successfully once. However, since then, the same issue has returned — black screen after clicking "Play".

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Restarted my PC

Fully reinstalled the game

Updated graphics drivers and Windows

Launched the game as administrator

Disabled antivirus / added the game to exception list

Unfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or does the team have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

npcs that start story quests should have an orange diamond with a book symbol above their head. But a bunch of the story quests can be pretty buggy, and some npcs will be marked as quest givers when they arent or you've already completed it. Like right now I have a bug that shows every generic node guard NPC as a quest giver lol

some people have made guide videos you can find for specific quest chains on youtube tho if you are interested. good for making sure you can complete the quests that give you starter gear tokens

for the ones around the starter area are still pretty accurate from my experience, but yeah overall you kinda just gotta run around and talk to everyone and interact with everything to find things out for yourself lol. its an alpha so things are constantly being updated and bugfixed, and the playerbase is limited. In general tho, most people have identified that beyond the quests that give gear, most story quests arent really worth doing. As a solo player ive found the best approach is to do commissions. Lionhold has a commission board to pick up quests from as a beginner, then transision to picking them up from actual nodes.

You are borderline at best. While your vid card is above spec, most are running at least 32GB ram and i7s and i9s. Freezes and crashes are common even on "high end" setups. Play with your graphic options and find a mix that works for you. Putting them all to low for example does not give the best results. Many have reported a mix of settings works. Ashes is not optimized and won't be for a long time, that work come much later in the process.

I agree, its a problem to flagging up first to self defence, they should try a system when someone deal a amount of dmg to you or cc you too often they should go corrupted for a short time. Then it should switch back to non corrupted after few seconds when he dont kill you, when he kills you he should stay corrupted as a example. Maybe this could prevent mob trolling, i think its worth a try. Combatant vs combatant should stay as it is and we shouldnt be able to toggle flagging up any time or everywhere to avoid flagg trolling. But this is just my suggestion, there could still be better solutions^^

sometimes the stored ShaderCache can be mess up things, delete them in %appdata% and then reboot the pc can do incredible nice work for a few hours 😉

The gear drops rates in the game suck at the moment. It was supposed to encourage crafting items but materials are too rare. Many factors have screwed up the economy in this Alpha phase.
Get gear as you can. Do the particular quests to get the coins to buy low level gear to fill in empty slots.
Just so you know, most people reach level 25 and still have several slots with their level 1 gear.

Yes, if you want to test, you will need to start a new character on Shol. At any point, depending on development needs, they may wipe that data and you have to level another completely new character and start again. You will do this several times over the testing phases. They don't know how many times, because development is fluid. There will be a final wipe of all testing and progression before any live launch of the product.

The install/update process does a lot of things in the background. It often appears to be "hung" or in a loop. Give it 5-10 minutes, and if it doesn't advance, shut it all down and restart the launcher and try again. The first time especially.

Yo! Just curious have any of you ever had any video issues with the game flickering? All the sudden AoC is freaking out. So far I have updated my drivers, and I ran the repair tool and restarted PC multiple times but it persists. It was working fine this morning and then I logged back in after lunch and the flickering started. We can't see what's in people's DMs. Discord can, and they can take action on the account level

Now, if Discord flags an account as being problematic, compromised, or otherwise an issue we may remove them from the server. I imagine for Discord to get information like this, some of that comes from reports they get.

It was probably asked a lot already, but Im new and I want to craft the basic gear. I need copper fragments for them and copper to make fragments. I just ran around for almost 3 hours until I died in the biome bottom left. I saw no copper and only 2 zinc, while I saw 3000 basalt and granite nodes.

Since people are trading copper in their shops, it has to be somewhere. I dont have money since Im new to buy it from them. So where do I find copper to make that gear? 🙂

Yes, I saw that actually. There are only 14 copper nodes and none of them were right. I even waited there for some minutes but there did not spawn any. I thought that the map was outdated.

Copper also can drop when you are farming the other stones. And from doing treasure maps. You need an excavation kit same rarity as your map but they can pay out. Maps can drop from humanoids. Goblins and humans are where I got a bunch.

I think that this phase should be carried out in terms of optimization, the test of one mega server does not work, people from outside America experience a lot of errors from the server and the game engine itself.
