It’s tough for me to answer your question on frequency. I usually have one good fight every couple nights. But I’m also active in other areas of the game, not just always looking for PvP.

If you are looking to play a finished game with fully formed PvP systems and persistence, AoC isn’t there yet.

As for PvP, there is some. There are lawless areas where you aren’t bound by the flagging system.

Many of the PvP systems are partially implemented and get iterated upon periodically.
Duel system is not yet in (though there are lawless areas and ways to work around it using caravans)
Guild wars are partially implemented (no rewards, still being iterated upon)
Node Wars are partially implemented
Node Sieges are not yet in (being tested on lower development branches)
Monster Coin event system is not yet in.
Naval PVP is recently implemented (only one class of ship)
Caravan PVP is partially implemented (no highwayman system yet).
Castles and Castle Sieges are not yet in.

That icon means he’s in a PvP event, either war, or caravan. In order to heal him, you need to flag purple.

took us a while to find that at night time around the spot there are rotten mobs that spawn and when you kill them drop dull bright and something else quest materials. They do not matter for the quest but you get a character flag for 1 out of the 3 occasionally. Took about 30 rotten mob killed and looted to get the 3/3 required.

Also when you go to turn in the quest when its done it will let you turn it in but does not give the rewards.

Professions are still under construction, so you won't see many guides at the moment.

However to answer:

Professions are very strong in the game, and very interwoven.

Additionally, you are limited in how many you can master - 2 grandmaster Professions, and then 1 for each tier lower additionally.

My best advise is to just play and learn. You can also open the Professions page to have a look through common materials and items each profession can make.

Players need to progress the server as a whole before apprentice tools can be made. For hunting, one of the node mayors would have to create buy orders for resources in order to place the Cookhouse building. With mayoral elections happening as nodes hit lvl 3, there is a chance we’ll see buildings start popping up quickly very soon.

There is no recipe you need. There is a default that everyone has once the building is built. There are additional recipes you can obtain for tools, but they’re not necessary.

It’s slow - you can speed it up by clicking the Cog Wheel in the top right, go to Patching, change Parallel Operations to 6

They are not just trying, they are succeeding.
There is not much structured content (like quests/story arcs) in the game right now, but there are many POIs, a few dungeons and world bosses, and a bunch of PvP systems.

I have a question about the graphics for the game, I’ve got everything just about maxed out and I’m getting about 60fps but it doesn’t seem like the graphics are like up to date with like today’s standard of graphics. Is this something that will be addressed? I understand alpha and what not but just curious if I’m the only one playing maxed out and being unimpressed. (I played runescape from 2003-2019 so I don’t play for graphics just content)

The game is not yet optimized, it hasnt been a big priority. There have also been some people who have had blurry issues, and had some steps to resolve those. Sometimes turning it down makes it look better right now. (I run on performance mode). While I COULD run all ultra, less actually, is better right now since its .... not optimized.

The game is a planned to be a monthly subscription once it's been fully released, without an upfront box cost. The pricing may make more sense when you consider that the Alpha and Beta phases will last quite a long time.

We have zero PTW mechanics in the game. Cosmetics are cosmetic only.

The devs have acknowledged the gold duping issue during the current Alpha Two phase and are actively working on monitoring and addressing exploits like that.

🔸 Since this is a testing environment, wipes and resets are expected, and not all actions taken are immediately visible to players.
🔸 That said, Intrepid has tools to track duplicated gold/items and has stated they will act on clear abuse cases, even if action isn’t public right away.
🔸 It’s also likely that final wipes will occur before live, so long-term server health isn't the main concern yet.

Still, your concern is totally valid. If you saw something specific that feels unresolved, consider posting it in the Bugs/Exploits section with as much detail as possible. Dev eyes are on it! Enjoy the test and be happy

Okay, now I have an update:

It appears that the launcher is not correctly calculating 100% download. I left it running at ~76% for quite a while and once the File Ops reached ~13%, it suddenly jumps to:
Download: 100%
File Operations: 100% (jumping between lower numbers but a lot of activity)

Everything is at 100% but not playable yet

Alpha 2 Phase 2 Started Dec 20 and will end Aug 4. Servers are up 24/5 on a Thurs-Mon schedule (With downtime for patches)

Alpha 2 Phase 3 will start Aug 4 and go for long time (a year? longer) Servers are up 24/7 (with patches)

Then Beta? phases? which are tbh

There's currently a bug that's resulting in mobs hitting way too hard right after a server reset. Once you kill them a few times, it seems to resolve. We're aware of it and working on fixes! If you can find a group in game to play with, its much easier. 🍻

Hi guys, I'm new to the server so my question might have been answered before. So, concerning races and starting areas, will every race have a different starting area and if so, will those areas have that race's "theme" no matter the nearby node's experience process or not?

Other races will have starter areas, but you can choose to spawn at any starter area regardless of race. So a Human can spawn in the Dwarven or Elven starter areas. The areas themselves will be themed after the races regardless of the Nodes around it (Like Lionhold won't change if there's an Elven metro nearby)

It's intended for races to have default starting gateway areas with story lines tailored to them, but you can manually pick another area to play with friends.

You know why "sandbox" games come out fairly quickly? Because whenever a developer tells you that "you are the content" that means they don't have the resources or they don't care to make said content. Intrepid has done similar with their alpha. Not in that they don't have the resources or don't care. In that they have added pvp and grind loops before pve content. So people look at this testing alpha and assume that is their "gameplay loop" It isn't what is intended later down the line. Crafting is undergoing an overhaul and a focus atm. Other non grind content is incoming. So if you don't like what you see now, come back in a year.

Progress your character and artisanship skills.
Join a node and help with levelling and developing it.

There are also PvP systems, but most are pretty barebones (more coming in the future):

• Caravan PvP
• Node Wars
• Node Sieges
• Guild Wars

Levelling is mostly grinding because there aren't many quests or structured PvE content in the game yet (hopefully soon to change with the questing revamp set for Phase 3).
There are some cool, big POIs and dungeons.

The most enjoyable part of the game for me (and from what i've gathered many others) right now is the core combat.

What I think doesn't matter. It is what the person who responds to a ticket report you file thinks. Steven typed that comment two years ago. They have yet to implement that part of the flagging system. While has spoken to training mobs onto other lower level people is griefing he has not commented on the CCing people to deny them resources currently without going purple. So, file your ticket and maybe they will act on it.

There are 4 types of housing in Ashes. Most players with minimal effort will be able to rent an inn room or buy an apartment (instanced housing). In node settlement housing and freeholds require substantially more effort to gain and maintain.
