And if they DO spin up fresh starts or do a wipe for P3 start, then finish implementing things and wipe a month later, the testing base is going to get obliterated because it's gonna be a huge morale hit

So with the harvesting update it says for example: a legendary tree you harvest will spawn in a “ larger spawning location “ so I’m assuming a legendary tree is going to spawn within a certain size radius nearby again?? Why wouldn’t it be made to spawn a different rarity or either spawn across the map somewhere else

It’s a easy farm I think if you know it will 100% be within a certain distance from the original tree spawn and guaranteed same rarity

Yes, they have been very strict on reselling of accounts, and there are many examples previously where people have had themselves banned. They have also had people scam and attempt to scam others. Since they have a very clear stance on it, you lose your money, that is on you.

Yes. Tank is currently the only class with threat generation skills. All other classes will need to rely on out dps/healing to keep threat, which is unlikely.

Not dumb at all! The Tank class is the only true tank, but other classes can sort of tank if they take Tank as a secondary, though they won’t match a main Tank’s tools.

In the future if you go Tank + Tank, you’ll be the most specialized: best for aggro and mitigation.
Tank + Cleric gives you more self-sustain.
Tank + Fighter leans into mobility and damage while still holding threat.

So yeah, other combos can off tank, but Tank primary is your go to for real tanking.

Race doesn’t lock you into any class, and there are no base stat differences between races.
However, each race will eventually offer racial augments that modify how some of your primary archetype’s abilities work, things like cooldowns, resource costs, or added effects.

So while some combos might feel better together (like a Dunir Tank for thematic flavor), there’s no “meta” raceclass combo right now. Just pick what fits your style and story, all options are viable...

The devs have said they want leveling to feel meaningful but not monotonous, so you and your friends should have options beyond just “10,000 boars / wolves xD”

i hear rumors of enchanting finally being nerfed by a factor of 10 (all statsx10, enchant remains same, stat-effects are effectively 10% of previous stat-effects with some balances) can someone confirm this on PTR or other means?

But yes, in the most recent PTR build, stats on gear had changed significantly, including many numbers bigger by a factor of 10, so the +1s from enchanting were less impactful.

• No more Fixed gathering Rarity (but randomised/cluttering as announced)
• Mixed Rarity Processing (want to, not must-have for balance/game impact)
• Enchanting Schaling to ensure our power remains within a curve and gear progression is maintained
• Node Progression & Vasselling

with those implemented a significantly different balance/gamesetup will be made for fresh-start compared to current iteration on at least US-Servers

for the guild/players pov, the caravan-world-event just caused hyperinflation as gold-sinks where not prepared for that much wealth inflow combined with fixed-rarity and other mechanics

Gear stats changed significantly, so yeah, if you’re looking for phys mitigation, you may need to take some medium or heavy armor. For example, the PTR version of Spindlehemp features dex/str/physical - not int/magical.

I was concerned to see that power still converts linearly from rating on the PTR, while mitigation has diminished returns.

I presume power will outpace mitigation investments so players will take mitigation to some level then continue to spike power unless they adjust power stats to also have some diminished returns on the conversion from rating.

Nope, nothing happens to your quest items when you die in Ashes of Creation. Items under the "Quest Items" tab are protected, they are not dropped, destroyed, or lost upon death. So you're safe to carry on your adventures without worrying about losing them. If u lose them, then could be a bug?

Yeah, the game is still in Alpha, so it doesn't really matter much right now if they tweak damage up or down, everything's still being tested and will likely change. As far as I know, the Rogue hasn’t been nerfed. It’s still a viable and well designed class.

That is correct. They shut their download servers off too when the game servers are down. They usually come up 30-60 minutes before the servers come up though so you may still be able to complete the download beforehand depending on your computer and Internet.

I'm looking at AoC currently and one of the things I'm curious about initially is how much button mashing there is in combat. I've played a lot of MMORPG's. Ultima Online, Dark of Camelot, WarHammer, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Shadowbane, WoW, etc. Most recently I've been playing Elder Scrolls... and I'm tired of the button mashing in combat. Anyone familiar with ESO and AOC able to comment on that?

It's not really so much the amount as the pace. ESO combat 'rotations' for a DPS is a bit franetic. You're hitting like three buttons per second at times.

Part of my perspective on ESO comes from playing DPS. That is technically part of my problem there. You've got two bars (a bar swap button) with five skills and an 'ultimate' skill. You have potion drinking and you have the usual movement buttons ASWD, etc. You can't perform more than one skill per second, but you do have light (and heavy attacks). You come up with a 'rotation' of your skills and you're performing a light attack between each of those. If you're a more mobile type you're also using the movement buttons. The only thing I'm using my right hand for is camera and light attacks. Left hand is hitting (at minimum) one button per second, but usually more often since I'm moving, drinking potions, etc.

there are lots of buttons lol, but you don't necessarily need to spam them. if you're in a front-of-the-pack, top of the server group, aiming to crush everyone and leave them all in the dust? you gotta optimize that dps and yeah, you'll probably be pushing a lot of buttons. but, if you're a more casual gamer, and running with a good group, pulling what you can handle without too much risk, then no, you can get by with holding down your auto-attack button and occasionally using your most useful skills off cd

some classes obviously are gonna have more button mashing than others, but some have fairly nice cooldowns between rotations.

Usually happens within 30min or so of the servers actually coming up to log in to the testing phase.

Then I would file a ticket and ask Intrepid why you have been excluded when others with later dates have been invited. I also saw a guy the other day complaining that he couldn't upgrade his testing package from KS. Turned out he was Explorer, which didn't come with testing access. Can't upgrade what you never had.

So he had to upgrade into the next one, which then gave him the discounted access.

Settler came with B2 access, maybe when you upgraded to your A2 access, it still thinks you are beta only. Yeah, probably a ticket.

Not the date purchased, but the pack purchased. So anyone who bought in the wave 1-3 packs won't be in PTR, and anyone who bought in via the pre-order packs will, even if they choose to upgrade to that today. But to do so you would've had to purchase a minimum of the Beta 2 $75 pack Jan 2024 or earlier.

At least that's what we were told. Unsure if that's the truth.

Yeah, as Renritar is saying, do all the various steps, if none of them work, then file a ticket. Depending on their backlog, may take a week or so. Realize they only work M-F west coast US business hours, so don't freak out if you don't get an immediate response to your particular problem. They will eventually get to you.

Yes, the thing you downloaded from the site downloads the files for the game every time there is an update.

They just came up (for Vyra). Here are some fixes:
Make sure you have https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/?form=MA13LH installed. Other solutions if you installed it:
-Try the 'Clear Login Session' from the setting menu (top left gear icon)
-Last resort: close the launcher, goto C:\Users\ (YOUR NAME) \AppData\Local\Intrepid Studios and delete everything

There is no one who is goin to test the new gear with so massive changes that force us to redo all the gear... especially less then 3 weeks before phase ends.... which also push to the point no1 gona do it in phase 3 cause you will change it again with this chaotic changes.
the question is how you will see the results without players even bother with gear anymore

How is my con and health + higher than some warriors as mage only 3.4K hp and warrior at almost 5k. Then I have some heavy and 5 light for mitigation is 15%.

No reason to play if I can put on heavy it makes no difference or my magic gear turned to physical.

The item doesn't have a level req. The item probably just unbugged when you leveled because it prompted it to refresh or something.

The only lvl requirements in the game are 0, 10, and 20.

i dont believe i saw max health increase like that on gear before this update

but after re-arranging gear pieces and buying new ones from auction i think overall my actual damage output per-ability has decreased by like, 10%, but my overall dps and survivability has increased by quite a bit

That is usually indicative of a bad server worker on the realm you are trying to log into. Give a bit and it may clear itself.

I might be super late on this (I haven't been lurking), but I had a question - did they change their plan from only dropping mats to dropping full gear?

I couldn't remember but I thought the original idea was that mobs/bosses/etc. would drop some sort of raw goods or materials that can be crafted? Not sure if it's just the alpha that they're dropping full gear or what.

Like many things in testing, systems are put in as placeholder. What you see now may not reflect their design intention. When in doubt, consult the wiki. Lex has added a bunch of useful quotes that explain different A2 intentions. Until they say otherwise, you can expect their intended design decisions to be kept.

But it would be better if the download would continu after connecting again but yeah it dont.

Make sure to go to #read-me-first and follow the directions to get access to all channels you will be able to see. Servers are up, but are having issues for some, so they are investigating. Would not be surprised if they go down for a reset sometime soon. Resets normally take around 10 min.

The design intention has never been that Ashes would be a "gankbox" Years back there were statements that rogue gameplay would not be similar to some other titles where you open with a stun, damage, stunlock, dead sort of thing. Rogue was recently released, and like every new archetype was overpowered. It has recently been nerfed, stuff changed, and this weeks patch towards stats and TTK has changed many things.

Is it going to be when you blend the archetype to make your class, that if you want to be more pvp focused, that you would need to take on fighter/rogue for example? Or will each class be equally viable in pvp but stylistically different?

While the details of the augment system have yet to be revealed completely (they are still making design decisions on it) your second archetype will "flavor" or "complement" your primary, not add new abilities.

So from previous statements by them, your fighter rogue would not gain true stealth or say a backstab attack, but instead the fighter may be able to augment one of their skills to give a temporary (as in seconds) stealth effect or other effect. The classic example given here has been tank mage, tank has a charge, you would then augment your charge to add a teleport blink to it, so instead of rushing overland to target, would blink instead.
