Go to #read-me-first and get your A2 tags. Look there in #alpha-two-news for any updates, especially after an unscheduled downtime and patch applied. They made changes to guards, those changes were bugged, they are working on it. Till then, don't fight anything near guards.

The levelling experience and questing are not complete, its still in alpha stage. You do start at level 1 but the game doesnt hold your hand and guide you> It leaves you to figure things out. Some quests dont work. Alot of mob grinding. Grouping is your best bet.

tbh thats a smart move. Although there is value in just playing around and figuring out some basic things like how gathering mats works, how to get citizen bucks which you buy at citizen vendors ect ect. It does not take much to get to lvl 10 (ive done it solo a number of times, a few hours)

I wouldnt stress getting to max level though honestly. Try a few classes and explore.

Hey all, tried a few months back to install the game but installed it on an HDD and found out that it doesn't function at all. So I am now trying a fresh install on an SSD but the install keeps defaulting to the HDD and I am not sure how to make it pick and generate a file path for the SSD. Last time I saw someone with that issue, they had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall. They have only ever said that there will be a "comfortable number" of character slots per server. Now, what you feel is comfortable, and what they feel is comfortable is where there may be friction. (thus being uncomfortable if the friction gives you a rash)

Hahaha...someone will find a way. They always do. But, to answer your original question, you are probably fine as long as you are at your computer and don't miss any messages from a possible GM who happens to pass by, thinks you are afk playing (the nature of fishing atm is afk, so they check) and when you don't respond, delevels or kicks you. There are some fun clips of Steven personally deleveling afk players and bots with various actions out there. Enjoy the paranoia.

There are 250 developers on the project now. Many play and do not show GM tags or let people know they work for Intrepid. Any interaction you have here could be a possible dev. So if you are afk in a node, it is obvious, someone is eventually going to pass by and either report you or check deeper. Do as you like.

Hey, if you want to throw a video up on your second monitor, drink a coffee, and let the fish keep flowing in, go for it. But if you get a message from someone like "GMAlex here, show me you are a real player, wave or something, or I will assume you are afk leveling" then you probably should answer that whisper.

Hmm looks like the install requires ~110-120 GB free. I was able to figure out where the missing space went, when you start the install it downloads it in big chunks so halfway through the initial total download it says I'm missing the space needed to finish the download and stops. So I went from 105 GB free to 66GB free and then it says I am missing 67GB to finish the download. Guess I gotta find more space somehow T.T

It's going to be a market based response - meaning, from business, if you can justify the cost to implement the language translation (I.E. # of users who speak a certain language will buy and generate revenue over the cost of implementation) then it'll be implemented. Not sure how they calculate this, but most likely the more folks that show interest to invest in the game if that language is implemented the more likely. Of course prioritization (I.E. expected English users xx millions, expected French users xx hundred thousand) of revenue will drive what languages are implemented first.

Don’t get too hung up on those. Quests are not all sorted out or working. If you do great but try not to get frustrated. A lot of people skipped higher level quests this phase or didn’t do a lot bc many were bugged.

This is due to connection time out. If you wait like 5 minutes it should connect, then wait a couple more and you should see your character load. But this is signs that you are probably going to have troubles once you are in game. You may want to try the other server.

There is no early access. There is Alpha 2, Beta 1, Beta 2, launch. You'll have to buy into whichever phase you're interested in unless you manage to win one of the few free keys. They'll likely do key giveaways prior to the beta's. Not sure if they'll do any more for Alpha 2.

An SSD drive is a Solid State Drive. This is different than the older type of HDD (Hard Disk Drive)

So you should check and see what type of drives you have first since you are getting a message about that.

Sounds like its not erroring out because of space? Can you post the error message you are getting?

Also make sure your system meets (and really, exceeds to be safe) the minimum requirements.

Is there currently any plan to speed up leveling a bit? It is very difficult to find a group at low levels, and progressing is very slow with only one option (grinding mobs). Maybe in the later stages of the alpha phase, leveling could be faster to help players quickly move past this middle part, which lacks content.

The levelling process right now is grindy yes. The questing isnt flushed out, many dont work ect ect.

However, the game is going to be a slow levelling process by design. The devs have estimated 200+ hours to get to max level at launch (lvl 50)

This is still Alpha 2 phase 2, in Phase 3 (starting in May) more content via quests and storylines, ect, will start to come online.

But levelling is always best in a group. Its hard to find groups right now bc most players have already levelled and are waiting for the next big content patch (end of march) and Phase 3.

Details haven't been provided. Just speculation largely based on this, along with a little bit from his recent Lazy Peon interview

To summarize the Lazy Peon bit... he was asked if the live "Prod" servers would get more features similar to PTR (such as rapidly leveling/gearing characters) - to which he replied that he could see something like that happening for a period of time before a planned wipe (to encourage testing at a typically low pop time).

So stay tuned. Hopefully they hit their development targets and are able to make decisions that help them progress.

The quest system is really rough and frustrating. I seen people in game say that most quests are broken? If that's the case I feel better, but questing really helps learn the lore or should help develop understanding of mechanics/farming/crafting. However I feel like I waste so much time trying to figure out the quests

My feedback on this is: the starting leveling experience is too much repetitive and leveling from 4 to 8 feels more grinding than questing. There's no much quests to do, and some of them are badly balanced (there's one that is lvl 4 and tell you to kill Griphons that are 1-Star with 1.5k HP, and another one that ask you to kill the bandit leader that's already a not-so-easy to kill enemy, and it has some adds nearby to help).

Obviously that's an Alpha and is expected that we have few options on that matter, but if the early game experience isn't the most important target to test at this momment then why making it that boring? In every MMO I did played (Lineage 2, Archeage, WOW) there's quests giving minimal equipment to gear up and make the character viable to go to harder places without needing to rely on crafting or the dropped trash in early levels. I'm wondering why is not like this with AOC?

I agree. I don't think the game should force you into following a quest line to drive the story and creation of the character. However, the quests really don't seem to benefit the experience, help you strengthen for harder combat, or drive you to areas to help discover resources and crafting to build a stronger "starting" set itself. I've definitely died a lot due to getting quests in a starting area that do exactly what you say. They want me to kill Gryphons that really you can't do alone at that level. I've also spent over an hour trying to figure out who I need to talk to inside lion for a quest that I finally given up on.

So, if you loot another players body, you will turn purple and can be attacked by someone else who also turns purple with no consequences. If you die, then you drop a portion of your gathered materials and processed goods. If they don't loot you, then you can pick that inventory back up again. Whirlwind does bug and end immediately sometimes if youre in the middle of an auto attack combo. To always prevent this, use another ability directly before whirlwind. To see your momentum, there is a circular bar that fills around your fighter logo portrait. If you gain some it will grow in the color of red.

I know it’s an MMO and most MMO games in PvP are like this, but my question is, is how Zergy is this game going to be and will there be alliance type stuff? I definitely don’t want to see any guild alliance based mechanics. It has not worked well at all in Throne of Liberty and makes the game become way to toxic.

So far it seems pretty zergy. The plan is to have smaller guilds gain various combat and artisan perks while larger guilds will have to use their guild talent tree points on guild size. In the current game build, guilds just have as many sub guilds as they want and it doesn’t matter. Hopefully Intrepid is able to find the formula that makes having many guilds much less effective.

Also, Steven mentioned a long time ago that an alliance feature may be added to the game. Currently there are already many alliances that exist in the game between guilds, there is just no official in game mechanic that they benefit from.

So your upgrade went through, but you don't see the download launcher button. I would close all browser windows. Log out of Intrepid stuff completely, log back in. Then if it doesn't work, do it again, and try a different browser. Intrepid has had issues with Firefox, Edge, and others being reported. Once people change, then BOOM, their issues gone. So while it may not work for you. I would try that.

The test is largely dead currently because everyone is waiting for Rogue/P3, a lot of people basically already tested everything that existed that they could test so they're just on other games

Tank is like that because blocking doesn't do anything and even if it did the mechanic is clunky and poorly implemented, and defensive stats on gear are so incredibly low impact that they're borderline worthless. This is going to get addressed, but we don't actually know when other than a vague Soon ™️ which is hopefully by P3

After playing the game, I found the movements to be unnatural and significantly less smooth compared to the previous Battle Royale mode. Also, when enemies attack with magic or ranged attacks, there's no way to dodge, which feels unfair. Even if I try to evade, the attacks still hit me, so that should be fixed. Additionally, for melee combat, the attack range seems off—sometimes, the sword hits even when the target is clearly out of range. This should also be adjusted.

Also, there seems to be a bug with the weapon swap key.

When pressing the key, the weapon should switch immediately and allow the corresponding skills to be used, but there are issues with both the skill key and weapon key.

Walk in the direction that reduces the distance until you get there. If that doesn’t work, it might be outside of the map/underground so you’d have to just report it as a bug and write it off as a loss.

Functionally, yes. It's either fresh start servers, which are going to result in the vast majority of people moving to those immediately, and the remainder trickling over to them over the following weeks. Or it's going to be an outright wipe, which was vaguely alluded to by Steven in a recent Reddit post and given further credence by the push for the Gathering update before P3 because gathering being fixed has been one of the biggest complaints and a thing people have said NEEDS to get addressed before the potential for a wipe.

Specifically I have had 2 people in the last few days add me saying something along the lines of hey how ya doing, and then when I reply they say "oh sorry i thought you were someone else". Quite well, atleast for doing daily node quests. And simple grinding definitely takes a bit of tinkering with buttons and the software used to be able to remap all the controls to keyboard commands.

Also, it does need to be plugged into the wall like it works. But it needs to be in turbo mode at the lowest settings with some settings cranked up. In 900p res.

If you are in Victoria, that's now a local router endpoint which may be as low as 15.5ms in some circumstances

but that is decidedly not "25ms to ashes of creation"
