As much of a non-answer as this is, pretty much everything will be improved upon before launch. The game is multiple years from release and not a single system/feature/content is finished or even close to finished yet

Graphics will improve, UI will improve, combat will improve, economy will improve, Nodes will improve, social systems will improve, QoL features will be implemented, new player experience will be added, etc.

You can flag up by pressing Alt+F to attack other players and repress it to disable it

If you kill a white/green (non-combatant) player you'll become corrupted which has HARSH penalties. You don't suffer penalties for killing players with a Purple (combatant) or Red (corrupted) name though

I tried so many different settings, I think it's just a graphical style that my brain has trouble interpreting? I see mostly non sharp grainy things and have trouble focusing. The last time my brain had a problem with graphical style was with the original Wolfenstein in the 90s (yea, I'm old).

I close client and relog, a recover caravan appears. Tried pressing but nothing happens on the same spot where my caravan dissapear to. Some peeps said I need to wonder around to light up the button. I tried for almost 30 minutes but no luck it didn't light up at all.

I tried closing the client to for 10-15mnts and my caravan still not there.

Look into the stats you want on your character panel and pick gear based off those.. int and wisdom will probably be your main two but mixing in con and mentality will probably help out on the defensive side.. cleric doesn't scale with physical power so dont need str or dex

Yes. 2 Grandmaster, 1 Master, 1 Journey, 1 Apprentice. Totalling 5 above novice.

And no change is exceedingly likely on that, I'd imagine.

Namely because the 2/3/4/5 can imply that you get 3 separate masters, 4 separate Journeyman and 5 separate Apprentice. Totalling for 15 of the 22 artisan skills being above novice, which is not the case.

I think Ted is bugged.. never seen him also, but I have had the chance to kill the Tormented spirit, the Spider boss thing, I think it was called nightfang or something like that, then the gashhunt goblin boss in the mountains by the buried treasure quest and I've seen the goblin mage boss a couple of times, but was alone so couldn't kill it.

so i think ive found a fix for the stuck at 75% people may be having. by waiting on the character select screen for a few minutes or more, ive been able to avoid a crash at 75% probably 80% of the time. AoC probably gives you the option to log into a server "too soon" and you can launch before the game is ready if you have a slower PC.

If you're new to Ashes and aren't super into the development I'd say no. There's not much content atm, barely any of the world is in, most systems that are in are in their barebones state, etc.

Worth it as in supporting the development and getting to give feedback on systems? Depends on your own definition

By the end of this year it should be a better representation of what Ashes is supposed to actually be (although will still be far from done). So my personal opinion to people is to wait until like November/December time and come back and ask again

The whole alpha, yes, but until 1-st of May the servers are down from tuesday until thursday every week, but starting May 1-st the servers should be up 24/7 unless they roll out some patches, which usually takes 40 min to 2hrs max.

Currently. In periods where they are not backed up Intrepid usually has a 2-3 day response time from the past. Have to realize that people suck at drop down menus and that many things were placed in the wrong categories, and they have a human look at every ticket, so even those bugs and exploiting/griefing reports have to be seen and moved to the right areas to be dealt with. Have patience, they will give you your money eventually. (if you qualify under their refund policy)

Just my opinion, but if you go over 3 weeks, then hit up one of the CMs to escalate. 1 - You flag for PVP (alt F)
2 - If you are not flagged, you will heal them when cast
3 - Clerics can mouseover heal. Its a setting you turn on. You d not need to target a player to cast (Except Mend I think)

Alt F enables the ability for you to attack others or heal players that are purple (combatant). You don’t need to target yourself when doing Alt F. You’ll see two swords as a box under your portrait that will confirm it is on. When you flag by hitting Alt F, you will not be marked as a combatant until you actually attack someone or heal a combatant ally. Alt F just opens the ability for you to do so. Once you’re purple, anyone can attach you not in your group or guild without punishment and will get some of your materials inventory

Invite them to your party. Otherwise, if they selected "Defender" for your caravan. But I think thats buggy still.

Caravans are completely separate from PvP flagging. Caravans are sanctioned PvP events so you shouldn’t need a party or to Alt F to heal them. If they select the defender role then you’ll only be able to heal them.

I think it's buggy. Becuase if they didn't choose defend and just are helping on their way withouth being a party member, I can't heal them only hurt them. There should be an easy switch to tag which "unassociated" pvp player is "friend" or "foe" and vice versa.

If they don’t mark themselves as a defender then they’re using the system wrong. If they want to protect your caravan and don’t mark as a defender, that’s on them that they can’t be healed.

I agree on that. But, beyond the caravan situation, the larger question as a cleric is whether you have freedom to switch between helping or hurting another pvp player that you are neither in a party/raid or otherwise associated with. For example you come across two inviduals engaged in pvp, and say you want to hurt one and help the other and switch if for no other purpose than the sport of it. And I don't think I can, once in 3-way or solo pvp, you can't switch between heals and hurts.

Not sure you’re gonna get your wish, but the forums are a good place for feedback. There’s only 1 or 2 spells that both heal and damage. The intent of the game is to be in groups with other players, not just stumble across a fight as a 3rd party and choose to help 1 person and harm another. In the off chance that happens, just avoid those abilities. As a cleric, you’re much better in the healing category, so just focus on healing abilities.

That's not the plan. Plan is for the current servers to remain as they are, but make some "fresh start" servers for phase 3

Because they want to play endgame, theyve spent hundreds of hours on their current character and all their alts, and unless the whole guild moves they'll lose their guild. It's one thing if a character resets because then you're forced to restart, but a lot of people don't want to purposely throw their hard work away

Unless the economy and overall health of the current servers are absolutely shocking by the end of phase 2, but then they'll probably just do a wipe

My question/thought - in the current implementation, and keeping in mind the overall risk/reward dynamic baked into the core design philosophy... what is the risk level to a group of players that attacks a caravan? Do you feel it's appropriate?

Typically, guilds like Actual Pirates, or Sol Deus, will assemble a 16+ person group to roll over 2 caravan wagon trains, or even solo caravans (and often driven by low level/new players).

The risk to caravaneers is clear, and significant (particularly low level/new players, whose "life savings" of glint may be represented in that solo caravan).

What is the practical risk to level 25 player(s), who goes out "riskable" inventory empty - so no mats at risk, even in the unlikely event that they get killed by the defender?

A 2% xp debt, that doesn't matter at all because they are already level 25, and a 5 silver repair bill?

I'm definitely all for the "roaming pvp zones" that caravans represent - fantastic concept - but I'm not sure there is really any practical risk/cost to the attackers... and I think that needs to change. Your thoughts?

Caravans give you the opportunity to 10x your gold, as a result, there is righyfully an appropriate risk to doing them. If you want to run a caravan be prepared to defend it. Also, it's not just 'xp debt' you get stat dampening when you die as well which reduces your overall damage output. Making caravans easier for defenders will just result is gold flooding the economy and ruining the market.

You don't get xp debt for dieing in a caravan event. Assuming you die from someone also in the event.

Unless it's a 100% dampen on attacker death the first time, attackers aren't really gonna care.

Make it a risk for both parties. Both stand to gain a great sum if successful, doesn't exactly make sense that one party bares no risk whatsoever. What the risk can be to attackers though, I'm not sure.

I mean, you can make something risky/beneficial to someone without baking it into the mechanics. Don't want to get steamrolled by the big clan?
-Join a clan, and get them to help.
-Pay off the big guys.
-Hire the big guys (or their allies, or their opposition - depending on how you want your reputation to be with them)
-Avoid them by figuring out when/where they're most active.
-Get creative, and find another way.

Every social sandbox MMO like this will always have zerg guilds - and ways to deal with them. That's part of the game.

IMO it's a good thing to think about, but not one that needs an immediate answer. Since players are artificially frozen part way through progression, there's still a lot of things that will likely make things more of a real risk - gear costs alone could make that worth avoiding, not to mention the threat of OpFor ambushing you right as/before you crack open the caravan.

I would like to know if there will be a bigger punishment than XP Debt for max level players in general though. Corruption is good, but if there's no corruption for Caravans in general, it would be trivial for Max Level players to go around and completely shut down any low level caravans in an area.

It ends up being less what do they stand to lose, and more what do they stand to gain. They get little out of zerging a low level caravan, there's not much money in it.

Corruption for attacking caravans say, X levels below yours would dissuade high level players from tormenting people - though again, that's what makes a fun story.

I havent seen one. I'd generally go with the roadmap for approximate dates, and wouldnt take any posted/mentioned dates seriously... that said:

Steven posted yesterday to PTR that he hopes for:
Siege testing on PTR on the 28th
Rogue testing on the PTR next month (so I wouldnt expect rogue to Alpha servers before then)

The Pirate Software interview had some dates as well:
intended patch to Alpha on Jan 31 (Guild progression, Desert resources, Stables/mount stuff...)
vassalship pushed to phase 3 (sometime on/after May 2025)
