It is not on your end. It is a problem that the system they are using was not set up for mass interaction. Intrepid has run into this issue before in earlier testing with Discord. They break the Discord upper limits of what Discord has in place and then weird stuff happens. Last time Steven said he made a call and they increased capacity here. Someone will probably have to do similar or they will come up with a different way to collect that feedback. Think of it as they pulled up in a tour bus that fits 60 people for a crowd of a 1000 wanting to get home.

Hey all, does anyone know what issue could cause AoC to be super laggy, even though I meet the system requirements? You always lose materials on death regardless of your PvP state (although you can recover a portion of them if no one picks them up from your corpse). Only corrupted (red) players lose gear.

A regular death you currently lose 50% of your mats. 25% of them remain on your body, the other 25% vanish and are unrecoverable

You shouldn't lose gear unless you're corrupted

And regular inventory items aren't supposed to be lost on death

Material rarity depends on item weight, we don’t really fully understand it but you can always put the materials in the workbench and see what you get before you craft it. However one thing is for certain, if it’s ALL legendary materials, you’ll guarantee a legendary item.

Legendary of course has better stats than common, if you’re curious to see what it looks like, go to Ashes Codex.

You can “proc” higher rarity with rarity shirts, bags, pants, etc. so you can technically make a higher tier item using lower tier mats but it’s been reported to not be working/not impactful so bear that in mind.

Item weight goes like this:
an item needs 20 otter hide + 1 basalt weapon mold + 5 willow planks, FOR EXAMPLE.

if the otter hides are uncommon, but the mold and planks are legendary, you'll likely get a rare/uncommon because the "weight" of the otter hide is higher than the mold and the planks.

I’m a dev myself, so I know how development often involves different branches/builds to test and refine specific features. First off, I just want to say I’ve been playing Alpha 2 and absolutely love what I’m seeing so far. It’s clear that a lot of passion and effort has gone into the game, and as a supporter of Ashes of Creation, I’m really excited for what’s to come.

That said, after following some recent discussions from content creators and thinking about how development processes usually work, I started wondering about how builds are managed behind the scenes. Are we currently playing the “main” build, or are there other branches with more advanced systems or features in development that aren’t publicly tested yet due to prioritization?

For example, could there already be a version where sieges are functional but held back because the node system still needs refinement? Or is there a map branch where the world is much larger than what we see in Alpha 2 but isn’t ready for testing yet because this stage focuses more on game systems than the full map?

The same could apply to classes—like if there’s a build where hybrids or advanced archetypes are further along but being held back to balance the core systems first. Maybe crafting, naval mechanics, or social systems (like guild perks or node politics) are being polished in other branches while we testing on Alpha 2’s core gameplay.

It doesn’t matter what the answer is; I fully support the game and understand that development takes time and careful planning. I’ve been enjoying Alpha 2 so much, but this question kept lingering in my mind. I thought it might also provide some clarity to the community after the recent discussions online.

Hey all, I still can't get into the game. I've tried almost everything now, driver updates for both graphics cards and processor, formatted my ssd and reinstalled, repair, restart pc.
The game blackscreens the first time it launches after every restart, then I have to terminate it. Second launch is goes to the character screen, character creation is laggy and often not showing the correct race or gender, and when I make a character and press play the loading imediately goes to 75 % and gets stuck, and after a while it goes to black screen again and freezes. Really not sure what else I can do, anyone had anything simular or have any ideas?

Not smaller, you can hold more per stack with specialized storage bags/selection

The goal is to have Alpha Two realms up 5+ days a week for testing.

We extended testing during the holiday, and we've continued to extend the length of testing. We've had realms up every day this week as we get fixes for bugs ready, and rolled out to realms for more testing.

Enveus/Polar/Nova Ordem/Rage Quit/YggBrasil all are known exploiters, Axiom treats new members like slaves and wants them to give everything to the guild and get nothing back, Pirates is just a huge zerg

Free trials remove the barrier to entry for RMT and gold seller accounts. Doubt you will ever see a free trial here.

And currently they are alpha testing, not marketing the game. If people come, they come. Later there will be a large marketing push before live launch.

They’re expensive to deter people from buying expecting a completed game, but also to fund the servers. This is a test environment and there are many many bugs. You could lose all progress at any point in time. If that doesn’t sound fun to you, they suggest waiting until the product is more complete in a few years.

How do you use enchanting? Whenever I use the enchanting scroll the only items I have to chose from are the crafting/processing/gathering clothes. No other items show up in the enchanting scroll list.
