The difference is the intent and approach. In testing, you are basically trying to see where things break, where the weird corner cases are, where the level geometry screws up and lets you clip through things. You want to find all the stuff that needs to get fixed, compile how you found it and how to reproduce it if necessary, and submit that so that it can get fixed. You want to play through parts of the game and then give specific, detailed feedback on them about how the experience felt, any bugs encountered, anything that felt good or bad, and to do so in a well-formatted manner that's easy to read and digest for the devs.

About crafting weapons/armor set of lower levels. Do they exist? Will be hard to craft them? After we reach next set can we sell/dismantle the previous one? And in general how relevant they gonna be? Are they gonna be worth to give time/mats to craft them or skipping them will make no change? Example: armor set level 15 (helmet,armor,gloves,boots etc..)

Question about the Taxation for Freeholds:
The Taxation Wiki-Article mentions several ways taxes can change - like a mayor increasing them, or less space being available/more freeholds existing.
Is it known whether or not these changes will affect existing freeholds? Can I lose mine because so many get built that I just can't afford the taxes any longer?

There will be guild rankings that determine who gets to bid most likely. Look at planned "patron guild" info also. Just because your guild of 5 people that 4 are never online qualifies as a guild, does not mean they will be able to lock out a more active guild.

And remember, as @idle siren said... This is not access to the game, this is access to test the game. Remember, things like re-writting the game from Unreal 4 to Unreal 5 happened during this longer time between tests ( massive benefit to us and them as a studio ). Building something like IntrepidNet to handle scaling that's never been done with Unreal Engine before - is going to take time.

These guys aren't just spitting out a game that is just another MMO, looter, cosplay, etc. They are re-inventing the genre.

An entire world, city, ecosystem, governing model that changes as we all interact with it, that alone is massive.

Just think stormwind or ironforge, changing layouts, being goldshire size, then growing to a massive town, only to be forgotten about and go back down in size ... because we've all moved elsewhere or the mayor pissed everyone off.

I think we're all just anxious and want a change so bad, that we 'just' want it now.

So i was on the wiki reading a bit, and i noticed theres a taxi system, with reference to possibility of it being player run. Is this something that like animal handlers would do? Also, keys aren't being sold for $25, they're being sold for $120 for first wave access, that starts two weeks after pre-order pack buyers. You are able to upgrade your pack to include A2 access for $25, that may be where your confusion lies

i have a question on this one sentence in the faq on the alpha 2 bundles, does this mean that we get to test and play updates and patches NDA'd before they release when the game is full released or is this "post launch" meant as in after beta launch ?

If you mean are you playing with people who are not on your realm, no.

Server meshing in very simplified terms means that the world is broken up into chunks, each chunk is controlled by a server, and those servers are networked together to make moving between different chunks as buttery smooth and seamless as possible. Think of it like... instead of having doorways and doors in a house, you've got big spacious open archways that you can move through without the delay of opening the door, the opening the door would be that minor delay of a server that controlled one chunk communicating with the server that controlled the next chunk.

This should also help prevent performance bottlenecks when large amounts of people are in an area/lots of stuff is happening, because the calculations for it can occur across multiple smaller areas with their own hardware, rather than all having to try and squeeze through one server.

Only 3,000 players per server for Alpha 2 to start and max of 50,000 accounts on a single server after the game has launched. So if there are 500,000 accounts, they have 10 servers

From what I've seen most games do the localization (translation into other languages) last so they don't miss something. Why translate in alpha/beta when most of the dialog that exists is going to be rewritten to some extent, etc. Just doesn't make sense to do the work multiple times.

You don't receive any keys. The access is automatically applied to your account and you'll be able to start testing when those testing phases start

There is not currently an ability to gift a bundle to anyone, and beyond that, I would recommend against doing so. The upcoming alpha is not a game, it is an alpha for testing. It will have bugs, glitches, crashes, and more. The game is not yet and will not be for potentially quite some time yet in a finished state, and unless you are both aware of that and have looked into the game enough to feel that you have a good understanding of Intrepid's intent for the future of it, I would advise not buying the bundles.

The bundles should only be purchased if you have looked into the game thoroughly and are interested in supporting the development via the purchase, and that you understand that the alpha is not a game but a testing environment and are okay with that and hopefully will take part in that testing and submit detailed bug reports and feedback

If you bought a new key/bundle this month, then it depends on the phase. Phase 1 is November 8th 2024, Phase 2 is December20th 2024, and Phase 3 is May 1st 2025.

If money's an issue then I'd recommend the P3 ($100) key over the P1 ($120). P3 will be much more fleshed out than P1 based on the slides

If you have any sort of financial concerns that would make getting a key a potential issue, I would recommend against the P1 key. P1 is very likely going to be rather scuffed, and the amount of time it would be around for until P2 is fairly limited in the first place. P2 is still available until December 13th, so at the very least that offers more time to find a way to make it viable, but please be safe and make sure you're going to be okay.

Once money is no longer a concern (it should be first priority) I’d say that P2 is gonna be the best time to get in both because they’re starting on economy workings and because it’s not all the way in May. I think there will still be keys in November but there’s no guarantees, this is maybe one of the most anticipated MMOs out there right now. Safety over fun though, like I said. I know these lads already gave solid answers, if anything this is just an opinion piece but I how it helps.
