it just takes away processing power for something completely irrelevant to the fight at hand, which is never a good idea.
There really isn't a reason to process purely cosmetics things (including pets), especially when you look towards larger scale combat, which is something Intrepid is aiming for

In no way was this a2 the cheapest option. Your forgetting that you didn’t buy just A2 you also go in game cosmetics and months of game time at launch as well as access to beta one and 2. If they launch a price for just A2 before it launches or during I expect it would be much less expensive especially if it doesn’t come with all the other mentioned stuff

Your account, as of right now is worldwide. There is no region locking in Ashes (with the rare exception of harmonized server regions) If you move to Australia, you would have the same account, and you would take the cosmetics from your NA server, take them off those toons, put them back in your "cosmetic closet" and apply them to your new toons on your new server in your new region. (Since as of right now server and region transfers are not planned)

You don't even have to leave your NA server and could play from Oz. Your ping would just be stupid. But hey, they deal with that already for many games.

No, costumes are not locked to race.

There are many examples on the wiki if you want to see cosmetics that were sold on the shop used by various races and appearing similar. There may be small changes to make it work with various body types/sizes.

Authenticator issues are pure customer service. This is just community members helping.

File a ticket, give them all the verification infos you got, and they will sort you out. You are not the first to lose their auth key.

The code would not be on the authenticator. It is sent to you usually in a text or email telling you to write it down and keep it just in case. Putting in the authenticator would negate it's whole purpose of allowing you to verify yourself in the case of a breach. Good luck.

What is your stance on add ons? No. Intrepid has had a long policy of no gifting of paid currencies to anyone. This leads to scams, RMT, and a host of other bad actors trying to extract IRL cash from the game in various ways when enabled. Doubt you will see Intrepid allow gifting in any way. If you want to give stuff to your friends, then you can use many various methods like a cashapp, or even sending the cash in a birthday card to buy those Embers themselves from the store on their account.

it was already discussed that through alpha 2 which will be on/open til launch of the game, there will be constant update as if it was a real game launch in order to have things unwrapping. Although its not a finished game, i believe it was mentionned that yes, rogue and summoner will make their appearance, but not on the initial alpha 2 day 1.

What naming system are you guys going to utilize? I would like to recommend a naming system much like Diablo 4 or other games with a similar system. Tie it to the account name, Where you can name your character whatever you want without having to name your character Lsiiskkwiishjsh. Character identity plays a huge role for many of us. A big thing that worked for another game was 'battlegrounds' (dark age of camelot). This is where certain levels (say, 1-4, 5-9, 10-14, 15-19, etc) could fight (rvr, aka pvp) eachother on 'factioned sides'. Each battleground had a keep (central keep) in the middle and a spawn keep where you need to capture the keep in the middle to get a bonus (a level). Mobs were also present in the battlegrounds that were 'normal' mobs and some mobs were 'named' mobs that dropped unique drops and offered more xp/higher drop chance than normal (all mobs).

BG's since they were implemented are still going strong in said game. They are a 24/7 thing and a big staple as to why DAoC was popular.

Would AoC have such a thing implemented in the future?

You can use multiple accounts at the same time, but the accounts need to be on separate hardware (e.g. laptop + desktop + another desktop if you plan to play 3 accounts), and you can't automate the inputs, so if you want to move forward on one character, you need to press "W" on all 3 characters separately, not use software to press W on one keyboard and go forward on all 3

There is a physical limit to how many could possibly be in a node, because the game has collision. If you are talking number of citizens, that has a soft cap based on increasing numbers. Inns are unlimited and grant citizenship, but the more citizens you have, the more expensive it is for the next person. So eventually you will reach a point of not worth it.

When you become a citizen you enter in at a certain citizenship due structure; and citizens pay taxes to their node in the form of both property taxes based on what type housing as well as citizenship dues, which are necessary. And as you enter later into the stage of a node's development, you will pay a higher value on the citizenship dues or vice-versa: if you own a property later, you will be entered into a property tax that is higher based on where you enter that property ownership within the node's history. So those help to form a soft cap. Now, if payers are willing to pay more to be a citizen of a particular node, they have that option, but at some point it becomes restrictive.[14]

Guilds down own nodes. They can have members become mayor of a node, but that just allows them mayor to propose upgrades and policy implementations. They don’t get any gold or materials as reward for being mayor, and some decisions can be vetoed by the rest of the citizenship.

Guilds can also become patron guilds of a node, but we don’t know much about what that means. I’ll link the wiki after this message for that.

Guilds can control castles. There’s 5 castles in the world and a guild can only own one. The guild gets a cut of the taxes from whatever region their castle resides in.

Castles will be fought over often and will require a lot of upkeep for guilds to hold control.

For Monster Coins events, as far as I'm understanding this, the events will be triggered by some sort of in-server chain of events occuring which may or may not be known, and then once it occurs people who have coins can activate them to take over some sort of mob relevant to the event.

The objectives could vary, but one of the examples is destroying a high-tier crafting station. The reward for accomplishing the events is said to be cosmetics. Is there anything that prevents people from just sandbagging it? For example, a dragon is about to burninate the village and destroy a ton of crafting stuff, someone pops a coin to become the dragon and proceeds to just land and let people kill it basically for free.

Systems are in place to discourage this. A couple would be that rewards are disabled for player controlled monsters, and players belonging to the node under attack can not control the monsters. Also, I would imagine it would be very difficult for an individual to contain the urge to play epic monsters like dragons.

After level 25 you do unlock augments. They do not take skill points to use. You still acquire skill points as you level so it’s safe to assume that you won’t have a full build until max level. Also, you potentially wont be able to have all skills unlocked at once due to how the class skill trees are designed. You’ll have to make choices.

The A2 servers will get transitioned to the PTR servers, we don't know if those will get wiped at that time but A2 may even have wipes during its run. A2 progress won't carry to beta 1 or beta 2 because those are separate tests that will be active alongside the A2 servers. Nothing will carry over to the launch servers

When Alpha 2 comes out you can playtest things then, but it will be paid access and the emphasis really is on actually testing things and giving feedback and detailed bug reports. It is not meant to be a game you are playing, it is a testing phase. There's gonna be a lot of jank and the only way that things get tested and refined is that people engage with the systems and then submit feedback and bug reports. There's an AMA on the 16th, and then the release is supposed to be in October.

Equipment progression past max level will be entirely based on crafting. Quests are going to reward glint, node exp and reputation.

At this moment in development do we have any idea if there is a difference between "casting" and "charging" skills? Do we know if attack speed increase buffs will decrease charge time or will it be cast speed increase that decrease it, or neither? For example snipe is a charged ability which has an upgrade (Hasting snipe) that says "casting snipe" in its description. So would cast speed affect snipe?

Quick question about nodes - on the many resources i've seen it looks like each node has a region of influence obviously. Is this a permanent region or does the region develop depending on where the node was placed. Also are there predetermined node positions for the region if the region is already determined. Thanks

The nodes are in predetermined locations. The region of influence term in AoC is zone of influence - ZOI. The ZOI of a node expands as it levels up.

We also saw in the node war showcase that there is a war type called territory control, where a Point of Interest controlled by one of the two nodes at war with each other can have its ZOI temporarily given to the winner of the war.

If ZOI expands as a node expands does that mean nearby nodes ZOI decrease? If not, does that mean their could be gaps where the map doesn't link to any ZOI? Or could you also have overlapping ZOI?

It depends on the vassal network the node is in. Nodes in different vassal networks can’t have overlapping ZOIs so there will be borders there.

Nodes that are in the same vassal network do have overlapping ZOIs. The highest level node (top of the vassal chain) has a ZOI that encompasses all of the vassal networks nodes. Each node underneath it has a smaller ZOI that then overlaps any smaller nodes, etc etc.

In an overlapping ZOI - the experience gained goes to the highest level node that isn’t maxed out in its vassal limitations
