Actually had a question pop into my head playing a game recently.
Will we be able to create our own roads in ashes between nodes due to player activity on certain routes? Say a dirt path at first but get the option to improve it?
Roads in Verra are both pre-generated and player influenced.

some of those connections from my understanding are things that either link the two nodes together in forms of trade between them but the road i assume is the level of the node to node that will improve the roads within that nodes influense

The Alpha 2 and Beta keys in the packs cover those testing periods and there will not be a subscription during those periods for testers... the Subscription will start needed to play the game after the official launch after the Alpha/Beta test periods.

They have not given any dates at this point when the alpha 2 access packs will no longer be available. They have said they will give plenty of time after they make a announcement that they will be no longer for sale before they are no longer available.

Alpha 1 was also still on sale after A1 went live and was kept up for sale until a few days before A1 ended. Can probably expect the same for A2
Does AOC plan on having a pet system like in rappelz ? Wich means being able to tame any creature in the game then having them helping you in combat with dps heal or tank creatures leveling them UP ect.

Kinda like Rappelz. The Summoner class would be kinda close to the Breeder classes and their summons will also have impact but how it turns out, we'll have to wait and see ๐
But for taming, as it stands right now, the summoner uses his own creatures, depending on the 2 Archtypes u chose. The Mobs u can tame and breed will be for Battlepets and mounts and so on.

AoC Shop question. The "Cloudburst Pegasus" is for sale this month as the mount skin and from what I understand flying in Ashes will be very limited. How will this mount work? Will it be a flightless Pegasus if your mount is ground only? That's a little strange imo. Like you have the wings...use them. Has there been any more clarification on how these skins will work in general? The process of applying the skin and when you can use them? We need these details in order to make sure that we are purchasing things that will actually be used.

while it is true flying in Ashes will be very limited, skins like the one mentioned are also applyable to Tier 2 Gliding mounts which will be much more accessible to players, so in this case the wings will be used for gliding should it be applied to a Gliding mount.

I agree that if cosmetics are being sold, the full details on those cosmetics should be given at PoS, not through an unofficial wiki or asking in discord. But the ambiguity around cosmetics are a common issue

Whats stopping a corrupted player from joining an instanced dungeon to farm away his corruption safely from bounty hunters and other threats.
regarding the "no multi clients" is one not allowed to simply alt tab between 2 game sessions?
I don't know the answer to that, but one solution would be to not be able to participate in raids and dungeons that are instanced while corrupted.

Youโd need a time machine
Skins are one and done. Once the month goes a new pack is introduced and the exact skins that were in the previous pack are gone forever.
Buying all 6 skins each month would cost $115 a month. They've been selling them for roughly 5 and a half years each month (with a few exceptions such as when covid started in March 2020 they didn't sell another pack till July 2020).

I'm mainly just interested in whether or not there is going to be some unique profession that you dont see in every other MMO. Something other than your usual "Weaver, Cook, Smith" etc
There are aspects of our artisan classes and these professions that we feel are unique to Ashes of Creation, but we haven't created a new profession never seen before in any MMO.
If you have an idea for a unique profession never done before in any MMO, our forums would be the best place to suggest something like that.

Will ashes have territory wars where you push land claims between two nodes? Or will it just be an all or nothing sieging an enemy node and blowing it up if you succeed in sieging it? Like will there be many smaller battles that go on getting to the point you can siege the enemy's metropolis? taking like smaller towns and farmsteads first for your node before hitting the big boy?
Thinking like the territory wars found in EVE/Albion/ConqBlade
not really, there are node wars, which basically make citizens of the nodes hostile to each other. But in terms of actual world affecting the nodes are what you siege and they're all or nothing.
Node sieges enable players to destroy nodes starting at Village (stage 3). This paves the way for new development and access to the locked content in surrounding nodes. Due to this dynamic, political strife and intrigue play an important role in the structure of the world.
Sieging nodes will not be an easy task for the attackers. Cities and metro...
another thing to consider about that, is the smaller towns are their own nodes. There's not multiple towns within one node, smaller nodes around a larger node become vassals of that node, but they are still nodes themselves
When you successfully siege a vassal, is it destroyed and the metropolis loses control of it?
I believe to be a vassal it has to be T3 so in that sense the metropolis would lose control of it
though for it to be the vassal of a metropolis it may need to actually be T5
not positive on that but that's what the graphic would suggest
also correction to this, T1 and T2 can be vassals of a T3 but T0 cannot be a vassal at all
T0 has no parent at all, T1 and T2 are still called vassals on the wiki, I don't know if that distinction really matters though ๐
actually there appears to be conflicting information on if T0 has a parent on the wiki, so not sure on that

Name reservations were rewards for backing at the Pioneer level and higher and are currently available through the Voyager plus pre-order pack.
Accounts will have name reservation tokens, that entitle its holder to reserve a name on a specific server when the reservation time comes.

You still cannot get anything from the previous packs if you missed them.

Some titles are legacy titles and are no longer applied. They give no permissions so are cosmetic. A moderator can further inform you if needed. Look to any of the red names on the right and shoot whoever is green a DM or tag them.
needing some help. I'm trying to get the Ashes of Creation Forums role to correctly display Alpha 2 tester, what steps do I take if it's not showing and have already meet qualifications to be as such?
I don't think Alpha Two tester is a role on the forums yet. Alpha One tester was a role because it gave access to the Alpha One feedback section of the forums, but there's nothing like that for A2 yet
in the recent mage showcase we saw a few skills that the mage will be able to use, my question is if there will be skills that allow us to heal ourselves based off of damage to enemies, or like how in black desert we can apply addons to our skills to regen mana and/or hp based off of the number of enemies hit, or will basic attacks focus on mana/hp regen?
Aoc uses the Trinitysystem (Damage, Tank, Heal)...this means giving everyone to ability the heal themselves would make the Healer and Bard completely useless.
U could choose the Healer as ur secondary class, but this doesnt mean u'll get healing spells, its more for survivability.
does that mean there will be no way to heal yourself if you are playing without a group?
U can use Potions and maybe some of the Bufffood will give u HP-regen to some extent. And of course u r auto-regenerating out of combat.
Cleric secondary will also most likely provide self-healing effects on some of your spells if you run the correct augments
The game is balanced around 8 player parties so playing alone will be very hard
Iโd suggest checking out a rpg rather than a mmo
That means the more difficult content would require groups, but there's always places to farm and things to do solo
i'm used to playing high end black desert online, the dungeons in elder scrolls online don't really interest me all that much, i enjoy overland content with friends but i like to do solo stuff too plus the non combat skilling looks like it will be fun...
I know people complained a lot about the particle effects being over the top and in the latest show-case they sure seemed to have fixed it. Looked great to me. What Im wondering is if there could be a single firemage skill or perhaps a craftable smokebomb/smokescreen that applies a small debuff but where the main usage would actually be sight impairment. It would just be a large black smoke cloud. I think it could be useful in organised activities.

Got a question on Alpha 2 status.
Ive pledged some time ago and figured i've just needed to be patient with the status update on my account on the forums but I havent seen any changes yet. Is there anywhere that gives me any instructions or steps on how to check the status of this or to inquire about it?

Theres currently no "alpha 2" role on the forums as there is no a2 section on the forums to get given access to
You can go to inventory and see if your pack in there. If it is, that is all you need to do currently. Make sure your emails from Intrepid are marked "safe" and don't go to spam. If you get the monthly one they currently send out and see it, then you should see the notification email for A2 whenever they get to that point.
Ah ok. Well, knowing that Alpha 2 isnt out yet, makes me feel better. I do see what i need to in my inventory on the site. Also, i am seeing the Intrepid emails, so i guess im all set.

The last minimum specs give were for UE4, so outdated. They will most likely update them closer to A2. Since giving them now, people would be naturally upset to find out they should have waited 6 months in the case of upgraded hardware needed.

Yes, but it doesn't necessarily mean all weapons will be good on every class
i get that, but i'm guessing that speccing into a tank if you are doing some casual solo grinding you would need to use a dps weapon to deal enough damage
I know MMORPGs take a long time to develop, but how many developers are actually working on the combat system including skills, classes, gear etc...? I know they have 100+ total.
I ask this because it looks like progress is taking a really long time given that every class showcase doesn't even have a full skill bar of skills worth showcasing.

The cosmetics they sell in the packs are what the npc wear. So as they are building the world and zones this is already being created. What this creates is current cash flow to fund the new npc, zones, etc. So they have just found a way to monetize the efforts as they go so they get some form of return and pay the workers as they continue working on the game for release. Otherwise how do you pay your staff besides just out of pocket?

No, most nodes won't advance beyond the lower tiers on how the structure and lockouts work. Node content is based on various factors such as dominant racial, node tier, region, and others. There will be some overlap that occurs, and is planned so that if one node is knocked back down to zero in a siege, there may be other places to continue that questline or turn in at other locations in the world if the right conditions have been met in other nodes.
POIs on the world map are static and may have those unique quests and characters that you are looking for.

I have been pondering a question about the traditional roles (tank/healer/dps). Are tanks and healers getting scaling damage when dealing with outdoor PVE/questing solo content compared to a DPS? (especially talking about healers) Or will healers have to rely on grouping?
We haven't heard anything about specifically solo mechanical changes compared to group play (Seems unlikely), but I assume healers will do things like switch their action bar active skill loadouts to have more dps skills and less healing skills than when in a group. I've been reading a lot of complains about how the combat feels "floaty" with no weight behind each swing of a weapon.
Will there be some sort of staggering effect on mobs upon each swing of, say, a hammer or a greatsword?

when you gain corruption and die to remove it you get experience debt, this is what you need to gain back

You mean when you swing a sword and it hits both your primary target and the surrounding enemies? At the moment from what we know they take the same amount of damage

Lets say I mastered processing and my friend wants me to process on what he gathered. His level isn't high enough in processing. Can he/she give me the item to process? & Can I give it back when I'm done?
The last info was that there is very little that is planned to be "BOE/BOP" and would most likely apply to extremely high end material used for "endgame crafting/repairs." Part of the risk v reward of engaging high end content is getting and keeping it after on the way back to whatever processing, storage or use later. So while there is no definitive yes or no yet, all indications are no. Player to player trading is confirmed. Using others freeholds processing facilities with permission also stated. How that all shakes out in the future crafting and freehold reveals remains to be seen.
this is only one component of combat. taking the idea into a vacuum and deeming this as useful or not for pvp isnt really feasible. i would suggest waiting until we get a larger picture of how pvp will work and offer this as feedback if you still have the concern after seeing more components blend together you can make a forum post with your suggestions/feedback as devs dont look here for criticism

I've been pondering this question since the video showcasing the Blood Tower event. I remember something about it being called a "World Event" that will effect the server. However I can't recall it being mentioned exactly how this worked. Basically is this tied to the node system, as in 1 specific node, out of all the nodes, reaches (x) level will trigger this Tower, (essentially meaning does every 80 something nodes have their own world event) OR Is it a per Region fixed area that gets activated from any node in that Region OR Is it an actual area left in partial ruins from the past that gets activated randomly from a certain quest line?
I am not sure if that was specifically answered and could not find anything unless I totally missed it.

IIRC the Carphin Tower event happens if a node in the Riverlands reaches stage 3 (Village). I'll check again though
Normally this is a story that would require us to have built up some of the nodes in the area. . Either you could just build up Miraleth(?) directly to get access to where we're going, or any of the nodes in the riverlands could have leveled up to a certain amount to have basically enabled the story to spawn.
So we don't know the exact node level required for Carphin story event to spawn
world events are tied to lots of things, node levels are one of those things, for the tower of carphin specifically it can be triggered by a specific node being leveled (Miraleth) or some other nodes nearby being leveled instead. From what we know most big POI world events (like carphin) will be in a general region of nodes as opposed to only being tied to one node, but supposedly other things besides node levels will also trigger them. Steven said one of the goals was to make it difficult to metagame the world events by forcing specific ones.
The spelling of Miraleth and other names relating to Carphin has been checked and confirmed by the devs

If I were to order the Voyager Pre-Order Package and used 2 months of the subscription time, will the remaining 4 months continue to tick down even if I don't log in? I work on ships and basically I'm at home for 2 months and onboard for 4 months, so 2/3 of the game time they give would be wasted.
If you look at industry wide practices, most likely no. This question has been asked before and a definitive answer from Intrepid is yet to be forthcoming. Once the game launches and you activate your account, you will most likely have 6 months sub credited, and I know of zero sub based mmos that allow you to pause and resume at will.

You shouldn't have options to purchase cosmetic items you already own. Normally when you're in the store, you should see a note that "you already own this item" when looking at add-on cosmetics for things you already have. When you purchased the Voyager Pre-Order, it includes the accessory, pet, and mount cosmetic from the pack when you made the purchase.
We are aware of an issue with the "Neither Snow, Nor Curse, Nor Jundark at Nightโฆ." pack, where some cosmetics items are not showing in your inventory. This would also cause the items to be listed as available for purchase, since they aren't showing up properly in your inventory. If you have this pack, you do not need to purchase the add-on cosmetics again.

Name reservations were rewards for backing at the Pioneer level and higher and are currently available through the Voyager plus pre-order pack.
Accounts will have name reservation tokens, that entitle its holder to reserve a name on a specific server when the reservation time comes.
Regarding the jumping puzzles we'll be finding in the world... do we know if there's some way to track them down? (maybe through achievements? map marks?) and what type of rewards can we expect (I assume the golden sandals won't be a thing ๐ฆ )

All we know is in the past that Intrepid has promised very little "hand holding" as it comes to quests and the like. Doubt you will see like a trackable log or mini-map indicators of "follow this mark to find where to start or the existence of this puzzle" but we have yet to see any planned changes from earlier testing iterations.
I'm fine with no indications ๐ but an option to check down what we completed would be fine (maybe as I said through achievements log, or manual marks on the map we could place etc.)

Again, might not be an option with Ashes as some servers may never see certain content, or lists could give possible clues as to how to cheese various systems like node type upgrades to spawn certain content. The map was last stated to be dynamic and change with the world. Sort of a "fog of war" over time for you individually. Something you saw when you passed by a month ago may be radically different when you pass through that area again, and would not just auto update. More clarification needed later.

When you set up the 2FA you should have received a secret key. Big long string of letters and numbers. If you have that, use that in your authenticator app to set up the 2FA again. If you don't have it, contact support using the link provided above.

Would a weekly devlog ever be something that's considered? If anyone knows the devlogs from project icarus, I was thinking something like those.
Currently, we show our regular progress through the monthly Development Update livestreams. We try to do these the last Friday of every month (but sometimes due to schedule conflicts, these get moved)
Given the work that goes into these currently, weekly isn't a great option for us.
As Roshen mentioned, they have quite a heavy lift to deal with already. Icarus is an already complete game that adds small content fixes weekly like a single kind of mission, or fixes to known issues. Once Ashes is in an actual "live" state it could be they would have something similar to that. We know they plan on monthly content drops and larger quarterly updates here once live. Having a weekly "we fixed this or added this one thing" would be worthwhile, but probably could get rolled into the monthly anyways.

From old info it mentions that cleric has a dps side you can lean into that sounds like it may have some sort of death magic, but as everything is subject to change we dont know.

Maybe cleric can't be dps as a shaman (we don't even know yet) but it could with other combinations

Yes I know, I explained that in my third message from the bottom. They might be able to off-dps or have a unique way of healing by dealing damage if intrepid gets creative with it. But having a main archetype that's full healer will make you unable to end up with a ''full'' dps class.

Your abilities come from your primary archetype choice. If your goal is to play as a Summoner, you'll want to choose that as your archetype when you start.

Exactly, as User26293 mentioned above, during the alpha 2 we will have LOT of changes, since development will continue to be done during the A2.
So for example we could expect (random numbers just for the sake of example), that at the start of alpha 2 the game would be 30-50% done, and then all game system to be done and tested during it, where the last polishing phases would be during the closed betas
The Closed Beta phases which are after the A2 were stated long ago that they are suppose to be really short, of course plans could change, but so far that is the information that we have.
Probably the beta will fully test the server capacity and the dynamic world when casual players meet hard core speed runners to end game

Repetition will not be part of progression in Ashes of Creation.

That is a known issue. There are technically 2 versions of the same Kiss of Summer item. You have one of them, and the other one is showing as Available in the Shop. We are working to resolve that, but it may be a little while before a fix is implemented. You only need one of them. We apologize for the confusion.

I just re-read the wiki with regard to secondary class augments. The source is a long quote from Stephen that says that the secondary class will make available augments that the player can apply to their primary class abilities. It is somewhat vague about how this will work, of course. My question is, have they mentioned anywhere that there will be a secondary class augment for every primary class ability, or if they are planning to provide just a few of them for each combination?

I suggest looking a the previous livestreams in chronological order. There are well over 100 now. They show a clear progression of the development of the client and improvements of each iteration, along with the normal times of low information in between such phases normal to development of a product. Predicting the future is not one anyone can answer here. But their previous record can give you peace of mind to adjust your expectations before moving onto your next internet gripe.

We already had few experiences with the alpha versions of the game (alpha 1) for example, which you can see in Youtube for example.
Also if you notice, the differences from Alpha 1 footage to the way the game currently is (showed during montly livestreams), they already made LOT of progress.
So yes, the game will come out, they are taking their time because they want a GOOD and finished game, I know that waiting is not fun, but it is always better to wait longer than having a really bad launch.

DLSS is not a frame generator, it can even increase bottleneck due to it increasing cpu usage. More fps is more bottleneck. While mmos tend to be cpu intensive, its not gonna help if the game is not optimized for high end cpu/gpus.

Ah I was thinking due to the constant threat of pvp & the idea of contesting for resources that only one group is guaranteed to get, it would be a winner-takes-all pvp scenario for every world boss
But multiple groups could get together and agree to share loot or come to an agreement
So you have to be in group to actually play the game and compete against other groups and solo players regardless of level/skill diffs? ๐
U can flag as non-combatant and it will probably just be the bigger groups/guilds that own all the loot, and wont let people in when you want cause of several reasons. Or people will just lfg and make small groups but this is such a slow process and u need other people to take down creatures and get loot, most likely a waste of time. Rip solo, duo or trios or even quads. Are world bosses instanced? Idk man but doesnt make sense to only give loot to the dps group. Seems like dps is the way to go?

You can tame creatures to become pets. You don't need to use them as combat pets if you just want them for aesthetic purposes.
I'm cool with the pvp aspect, and even with world bosses being "owned" by a single group. Just goes against the more recent interpretation ppl have around world bosses being giant gathering points for people to get some "free" loot. I was curious how a "normal" World Boss would work in an open-pvp game if only one group got loot, but it looks like it'll have to be balanced around that, as well as its loot tables. Probably better to not call them world bosses imo
Do we know of any open-area pve battle that shares loot among multiple parties or ppl that do at least X% damage?

There's general looting mechanics, then there's world bosses, which can have a different looting mechanic. Just wondering if World Boss looting was ever specifically mentioned, or any sort of loot lockouts mentioned
As the world boss section doesn't mention world boss looting in particular, nor is there a section on loot lockouts for major content, I'm assuming both haven't been mentioned

It's not considered griefing to fight over a contested resource. I asked that second question already in the livestream thread, as no one seems to know. And you can kill players at anytime, but the loot they drop is still limited to materials if they're not corrupted. And considering world bosses drop crafting materials as well as gear, I assume only some loot has a possibility to drop
You lose materials when killed without corruption (possibility of dropping gear with corruption) and of course you can kill players after they've killed a world boss.
The whole world is pvp except inside your freehold. There's no opt in/opt out system.
There may be some gear binding (BoE or BoP) but it will be an exception rather than the rule, as this doesn't facilitate the objectives for the economy.

It is. The way they mitigate it is by only having 1 server per region (like only 1 in EU for example) be a headstart server. This means if you don't want to play on a headstart server you can avoid it easily. The headstart servers also have node development disabled until the game officially launches

This is actually a very smart solution
Is it too late in development to change healing from tab targetting to a more accurate system or more user friendly system similar to healbot? With so many people in one raid the healing could be more accurate versus constantly throwing a heal bubble that no one sits in or healing the wrong person and wasting your spells constantly. It would also invite lower skilled people into the game thus widening the audience because they would be able to keep up with high skill players and make the margin between the two less significant.

I feel like with the hybrid combat you still run into the issue of finding where that person is in a crowd of people and then aoe and group heals coming into play it gets messy. Thank you for the explanations and I hope they do allow them because playing New World and trying to heal 50 people was a mess at times so I can only imagine 500

We already got told in March that they're not even going to start internal testing until end of this year/early next year, let alone actual alpha 2 testing or inviting players to test.
