• Contesting bosses/sieges/similar stuff (Less relevant to now afaik but relevant in the long run) ---> this is exclusive to like <200-1000 people on any give given game server
• Clubbing baby seals (i.e. caravans and stuff if they even existed still)

the above are necessary to add weight to the world, but there still has to be:

• Significantly more of the first one
• Accessible regular pvp that's mostly just for fun i.e. either bg's/arenas or at the very least something akin to them (I fall into the camp of "akin" not being enough but at least it would be more)

Arguably aside from crafting, you can level basically however you want in WoW and it's pretty reasonably paced - not the fastest, but reasonable enough unless you're racing for world first or something. You can pvp, you can quest, you can grind mobs, you can grind dungeons or spam world events or do other things.

Ashes? Drastically more limited in leveling... Why does the sandbox have fewer options in the most surface level early systems like leveling than even the stereotypical themepark

---> which isn't to say that we need Ashes to "be like wow" but the aspect of the themeparks actually having more sandbox to them than the "sandpark" that we allegedly have extends to most systems actually.

Leveling is probably a bad example since it's so little of the game (despite there being little after it), but it's a very surface level and clear example

Also... There was more pvp leveling via questing during Shadowlands with Warmode on than leveling in Ashes

Adapting something akin to the aa faction/zone wars but tying in nodes to replace factions could be SO great for all player types

Especially if corruption penalties could be tied to node affiliation, so we could have <conflict periods> where the zone is yellow or something and flagging on our own (or allied) node/node network (faction) is full corruption but flagging a neutral node is <less corruption> and flagging a hostile node member is <no corruption>

and then wartime zone periods just being no corruption or only corruption against fellow node members (questionable)

---> tying in the player aspect of node diplomacy to the corruption within conflict zones would add a LOT of meaningful politics without being purely a griefing tool i.e. it wouldn't be global hostility despite a hostile status, with node wars being that potential for global unrestricted but temporary conflict whilst keeping the player deterministic relation available for other times that isn't "24/7 everywhere" but is always present somewhere

Probably friends of mine I ran with as everyone had the okay to cheat in that game so many of the players did. 🤣 Some of them played Elysium but I refused to play privates.
