The issues present here have to do with specifically how the alpha has been ran. If the purposes of phase 3 is to test the trade economy, they should be gold wiping everyone and adjusting values as we play.

Instead they just leave everything stagnant to where any data they collect is distorted.

They’d actually get a lot more meaningful data if they just ran weekend PTR tests where they gave us level 25 characters with 100G each and just let us play with the pack economy, and just repeat it every weekend tweaking different values.

The whole idea of a year long persistent test is pointless right now because there’s nothing of value that will persist beyond the level cap increase coming in Jan/Feb and there’s no point collecting data on people sitting at level 25 for months because that isn’t authentic to how release will be at all.

Compared to another alpha test I’m participating in right now with Soulframe the way Intrepid is doing this is so counterproductive.

I'd like to see some meaningful progress be made towards world pvp, lawless zones, gathering nodes, processing times/fees, material costs, drop rates, poi's, etc before pushing a wipe/fresh start. Rik has it better laid out above, but there's many things that need a good deal of work before testing can continue to generate meaningful data.

Well 49 will be the highest unless there's some super boss drop they call lvl 50 or whatever. They have stated that making GM gear would be a monumental undertaking so I feel like there is pain in our future when it comes to crafting difficulty which might mean this 29 gear remains relevant longer than people might think.

It's true, at least in wow or ff14 nobody can get in your way when you want to take a shot at mythic raiding or ultimate raiding. If your party is good enough or you grind it long enough that you learn each fight then you get the gear eventually. Here when you have to compete over firebrand or whatever specific carphin boss you want even if you can kill the boss if uncontested you generally won't be uncontested

I haven't done much open world stuff or at least not in groups. I've had to compete on wilderness bosses in RuneScape but 1v1 in tick based old combat is nowhere near what this is.

I have to disagree on this, you can set people in a sand box to have mostly equal footing in a given fight.

Go look at eve, you can bling fit a frigate for massive amounts of currency and it is only 5-15% better than another other frigate, but any frigate has to be played very well to kill a ship one class above it. Simarlily any frigate has a much better chance of escaping encounters with much bigger ships.

coord people is deff a skill and takes a lot of work before the moment is needed just like gear in a lot of ways.
the only way to give this initial even footing imo is for the low teir of each grade at common rarity be common. people need to start off on the same foot.
like i said i dont wana beat 3v1 just because of the gear diff of lvl 50 vs lvl 30 gear. i would rather me work my ass off for high teir lvl 50 gear and other people also have lvl 50 gear and have those fights. my much larger time commitment is still valued in crafting the higher gear, and a casual gamers' presence is valued with at least the ability to compete without being steamrolled in just a gear diff that makes them hit 75% weaker.

Yeah and I agree with most of what you have said, I just dont think dropping gear is as healthy for the game and economy as making those lower tiers much easier to craft and fixing the exp within the crafting system so people actually have to craft level 10 and 20 gear to level up there crafting.
