How exactly does the queue work? I've heard that the servers are divided into squares and that there are queues for each square. So if you log out in a square where there are few players, you won't end up in a queue. I now always log out far away from settlements in Joeva and haven't had to queue since. But today I'm in a queue and have been waiting for 5 hours. So what went wrong?

But overall.... actually better than most of us anticipated
Start was an absolute laggfest with everybody rubberbanding everywhere, dozens of people who were not part of attacker or defender team also were just flagged and killed if they remained in the city... I saw a guy dropping a couple legendary fish
The gates were nigh unuseable, trying to get through them was a pure gamba roll and then you had the issue of being on the otherside for the enemy before you went through on your screen... thats what happened in @woeful bolt clip of manu
Openfield was aside from the usual problem of people taking forever to render and desync somewhat fun
Once the gates broke, which I'm completely honest, am glad we did not try to prevent that much... it went a bit better, there still was a lot of the issues with rendering and desync but it was at least "playable"
Fighting within the City was an absolute chaotic mess, as every little plantpot, ankle high fence etc. made you rubberband all over the place so we were glad that fighting was mostly focussed on the east side xD
Another Problem we had fighting in the City, was the Phoenix sentinels being very trigger happy, I died I think 5 times because of them oneshotting me while we fought inside the city
In regards to what @ornate solstice said, melee attacks were unuseable and range attacks had the big issue of not working "all" the time because of desync and rubberbanding changing where you and and your target were..... ah and all those invisible walls creating LoS blocker without anyone noticing xD

TL;DR No one crashed as far as I was aware of, both sides had a lot of nice engagement and probably lots of clip worthy material... but server preformance is still MILES away from handling this kind of content

Basically consisted of random AOE bombing where you might be doing some damage, and just hope your team pressed more buttons faster than the other one.

Not really any room for fight tactics or skill expression.

You're right that server performance is a LONG way away from supporting this type of content.

Probably sucked for the 100 people not signed up who got executed in town when the siege started.

Conceptually the sieges could be very cool, but there's a long way to go before I'd really call these 'playable'

Longbow has more power stats and short more speed usually in terms of stats. Longbow has the highest range amongst all weapons while shortbow has a lot more hits which favours on hit dmg and resource stacking for some classes

FPS has dropped significantly in Ashes of Creation despite high-end hardware. A few weeks ago, FPS was around 60 in less populated areas with smooth gameplay, but now it’s around 32. CPU/GPU usage is low. I noticed this after re-enabling performance display following the NVIDIA driver update on January 5th, 2026.

Detailed Description:
• CPU: 2× Xeon E5-2695 v4
• RAM: 128 GB DDR4
• OS: Windows 10 Pro

Current In-Game Performance:
• FPS: around 32
• CPU Usage: 11% average, spikes up to 107%
• CPU Temperature: 46°C
• CPU Clock: 2.46–2.68 GHz
• GPU Usage: 40%
• GPU Temperature: 43°C
• GPU Memory: 6/6/11.8 GB used
• RAM Usage: 20/128 GB

Additional Notes:
• I noticed the issue after enabling FPS, CPU/GPU usage, and other performance displays.
• Before that, I suspected unusual lag but could not see FPS.
• The recommended GPU is RTX 3070, but even with my RTX 3060, FPS was previously 60 in less populated areas, GPU usage 99%, CPU usage 20–30%, and the game ran smoothly.

Despite the high-end hardware, FPS has dropped significantly, and CPU/GPU usage is now low. This may indicate a performance or optimization issue with the game.

I have already tried reinstalling the drivers — new ones, old ones, and clean installations. Nothing helped. My friend uses FG on his RTX 5070 (30 FPS → 120 FPS with FG ×4), but my RTX 3060 doesn’t support FG. It’s awful to play at 30 FPS, especially since just a few weeks ago I had stable 60 FPS.

Exactly, I must have misunderstood or, have been misinformed with how 'dynamic' server meshing etc was - I remember it being a big thing to mitigate and eliminate queues, and to allow large-scale battles. Neither of which I think are in place right now, the last Siege I had was 90% desync, fun at times, but certainly not playable haha 😄

Not how the que system works.

If you are position 20 you got 19 more people in que to be allowed to logg into that server worker.

The server worker has a limit of how many people it allows in, before starting a que.

The issue is, that there is no que once you are ingame.

This means, there are usually dozens of people beyond the set limit for the server worker in that server worker.

And only once the number of people in that server worker falls below the set threshold, is it allowing people in from the log in que.

It is such an obvious mismanagement / misdecision of how server worker function, that I question the sanity of who ever signed off on this as being ok

Next day, I log in and get moved to a worker right beside jeova, because jeova is full. Where do I spawn? Middle in mobs, somewhere random? Gg got killed by mobs with my full backpack. What about static spawn points? Gg got ganked right after spawn. And so on…

Also of course there will be 1-2 trading hot spots, like big cities in real life

But smaller cities have better prices for buying, or for traders als cargo runners

However, wie are now 4 weeks in and this will take time

Also, consider citizen benefits like taxes. Different cities are in competition to each other

As far as we are now, most of the people are interested in the best market in game to buy and sell gear

This will change when priories like crafting stations get more important

For example, if a mayor decides to put 20% taxes on everything, people will go somewhere else
