Well if you're actually serious and still playing the game, the chum doesn't determine the kinds of fish. There's just saltwater and freshwater chum. You use different types of lures for chances of different kinds of fish (ideally with better rods and fishing equipment to better catch the better fish with). :)

It's hard to say, given all of the drama and the history coming out, even if Steven wins the lawsuit, the project probably won't recieve anymore funding from investors because the opinion is that he is paying himself and his husband a King's Ransom of a Salary with the investor money, effectively just flipping investor funds into their own piggy bank... which they really don't like when you do that, but usually don't care as long as the company is making enough to pay back the loans over time. Even if part of the highlight is that he is financing it through investors using his personal equity as collateral, it doesn't change that he lied about "personally" funding the game this whole time, and moved into a McMansion during this time.

So if Steven Loses, it means one of two things, either a complete takeover, and maybe we'll see some kind of resurgence of the game, but there'll be a TON of changes, and we might end up with another slop mmo cash shop grab, tokens to buy to instantly level to max, that kind of things, and more pay to win (not that you couldn't already). Or the game is shut down, assets are sold, and those of us in the mmo industry as players, might see things like the tank wall or cleric circle in some new upcoming mmo, knowing it was from a game that never came out.

If Steven Wins, we still might see the game turn into another slop mmo cash shop grab in order to pay off all the loans. Else it might end up just being an IP for him to sit on and do nothing with, even for all the talk of trying to keep the game alive.

UPDATE: My bank has agreed to refund my 75e preorder and 50e alpha key purchases that I made on year 2023 and 2024 from Interpid Studio's webstore (Non-steam purchase).

I made a claim for undelivered digital items as the preorder pack had lots of ingame items that never existed in game and reasoned since the company has shut down these items will never even be created.
For Alpha2 key I claimed misleading marketing due to promises of being able to play till launch which I had expected to be atleast a few years but the company shut down only months after alpha2 become playable and the product was not what was advertised.

Process took over a month and I had to provide them lots of documents, a proof that I have tried to contact Interpid about the refund before contacting my bank, recipts of my purchases, proof of false advertising (I used their kickstarter promises) and proof about company shut down (I used Stevens resigning announcement, Margaret's Reddit post and the WARN Notice interpid had received).

And with this, I can now happily stay in the discord and follow the drama 🙂

Ps. I'm still receiving e-mails from Interpid that they are busy with alpha2 launch but will handle my ticket as soon as possible.

Here’s my take do with it what you will. I enjoyed the game and the time I spent playing it over Christmas and the friends I made along the way. I wouldn’t take back the time I spent and the friends I made in EBC (Now blunt force trauma or BFT) and proto gaming. I wouldn’t refund even if I had the option because of the hours I put into the game. I find it hard to believe that a guy who committed 10 years of his life and his on personal assets irl as collateral would try and scam a community he was actively engaged in and seemed to appreciate and value. Still in alpha I think bro. Beta release was supposed to be this month I think then the lawsuit happen. Some games got to relaunch why not AoC when it's on alpha stage. That's why I chose not to refund it might be more expensive to buy the base game if it gets to a full game launch. Hope no one minds me attempting to add my two cents to the conversation. i had decided to give some money towards this game when it was announced, got some underwater themed skins and whenever the Alpha Key access was offered. i had high hopes for this game, but then they decided to upgrade to UE5, and i knew at that point the game was dead. Probably for the best, i'd much rather go out into the wilderness and get beat by a ??? enemy than get teleported seemingly randomly, of what i saw of footage before the servers went down. I held hope that this was still going to pull through foolishly. i have no idea if i can get my money back. Lost alot more in ways i had no chance to recuperate.

I was looking into both of those ones but AA has little to no PVP element so it's gonna be boring. Chrono Odyssey might be good. AoC is better than those 2, base on the concept since it has 64 classes, race will have effect on your toon, the built of your toon's body will have impact like if your toon is taller and longer arms would have better reach, the story background too will affect your content.

Yup they need to add subscriptions per month or some kind of top up method like for example I once played a game called RAN ONLINE it’s an old school mmorpg released in 2004 it was mostly SouthEastAsia region game but it was alive for 15 years, servers went down in 2019. They only do card top ups so people can buy cosmetics and something called ROSARY so that items don’t get dropped when the toon dies. If they have subscriptions for every month I think they would still be around. Most are now private servers playing like a battle royale. I don’t know if WoW has top up cards to pay for cosmetics and certain accessories that are expirable but WoW survive since it was released globally and has monthly subs even if content is recycled. Imagine AoC would do something like that like an expirable cosmetics or shit even an expirable flying mount that has a certain speed lower than the mayors and say mount lasts for 48 hrs, people will be paying just to experience the fun flying around Verra.

It was Steven's business decision. I'm not a business man, but even at a low level, I know you need to take decisions that are hard. I doubt I'd have interest to play the game without Steven's vision. Hearing him talk about his plans for the game got me exited and Ixknow delivering all the promises would be difficult but as long as he works on adding and improving them I'd be happy. The board didnt seem to care about anything but the amount of money the game could make and they'd just half-ass and remove most of the planned features to cut the budget.
