Ngl grouping takes way too much time, you have to look for a group in your area or accept a 30min walk, also have to wait for your group members and then someone leaves after 10minutes and it all starts over again. Next issue is people getting in higher level ranges so lower lvl grouping will get even worse if you dont have a constant stream of new players. what makes it worse is solo exp sucks after a certain point and for certain classes its getting difficult to enjoy without doing hours of prep first

Ashes is not optimized yet.. so it can be a real hit and miss. With that said, it can still look good. I recommend searching youtube for "AoC Video Settings" The content creators have done some vids on that I think?

The secret with the towns, is to not stay near the storage, or the market area, unless you have to.

To log out Close to a town, you can run OUT the door and off into the forest/field. Sometimes I hang out right behind the gates.

Just dont be in the centre where it is super busy unless you HAVE To be there. Literally I have all my storage in other towns. lol Not the big ones.

I'm having a really hard time understanding quite a few things about the game. I realize this is still EA so know there is room for improvement but as is stands now:

1. The stats.
   a)How do I know what stats to use on the class I'm playing? Nothing in the abilities state which is responsible for what (with a few exceptions). IE is there a reason to use STR on a bard? Is the goal flexibility (play how you want?) If that's the case I believe this may be too flexible.
   2)Gathering.
   a)With literally 2 decades of games showing us harvestable nodes closeby, the choice to deliberately make things blend in is an odd one. Trees you can see, small rocks, not so much. And why are some animals huntable, and other of the same exact name are just regular mobs?
   3)How do I determine if a monster is a aggressive or passive? All names are Orange. How do they aggro? Sight? Level?
   4)Tagging. Is this just not a thing in the game? Is it just based on who does the most damage to the monster?
   5)Does class/background matter? If yes, where can I see what they actually adjust?

If any of the above is explained in an official manner please let me know because all I can find is outdated wiki info.

Tagging doesnt matter, its based off damage or last hit. Not 100% sure which one. This kind of sucks though. As a tank i can have 3 or 4 creatures hitting me and then a dps runs in melts them and I get nothing. As for aggro, color doesnt determine anything but level gap darker red harder to fight, lighter color lower level it is, aggeo is based on level which I believe the lower level the shorty aggro range. Higher level bigger aggro range. It may have to see you though. Not 100% sure. I haven't looked too much into it. This is all I could provide. Might not be much help.

Put it into suggestion to try and get it fixed. The no tag pro and cons. If someone just tags everything ans runs it to the tank and a tank has aggro now and is still forced to fight it with 0 benifets, but same thing happens to tank with the damage outcome. Regardless Tanks get shafted.

We're not talking about group play, just mob tagging in general. IE if I pull something and do damage, but some else deals more, I get zero credit and they get all.

The game is designed around grouping. Tagging in groups isnt a problem since yall in a group. Do more dmg than others. Tagging only gives people the ability to troll and tag everything and do no dmg. Its a dps check so noobs cant get powerlevelled by a higher level as well.

I'm playing Ashes and I'm enjoying a lot it, despite the bugs and freezes... But there are two game mechanics that I consider awful:
1- The loss of experience on death for players.
Losing experience to mobs is bad, but ok; however, But losing experience when we die to players is a strong deterrent to PvP.
2 - Limiting XP gain to a group of 8 players.
No country for random DPS's on the parties.

I didn't come here to complain, I'm just expressing my opinion as a player who has been waiting a long time for this game.
Is there no possibility of this being changed in the future?

• This can be mitigated in a few ways. There are scrolls, cleric rez can reduce it, and, in sanctioned pvp events, the xp debt is greatly reduced and/or zero.

2 - Limiting XP gain to a group of 8 players.

• This is done in order to deter giant raids of 40 people levelling and dominating areas and ganking other smaller groups into the dirt. Its a good thing, and its not uncommon for games to do this. (WoW does it, with quests, for example, cant complete them in raids). It works for Ashes, even though it feels limiting to leave people out. Make smaller groups, doesnt have to be 8. Do something that can include everyone in smaller groups. Or, start your own group. (if you are a dps and its harder to find groups)

shol seems to be the most overpopulated realm (and always has been in previous alphas). If you do a keyword search on discord for Shol you'll see what I mean (lots of issue reporting).
This may be the root cause of a lot of problems, and it may be worth creating a character on a less populated server (if you're not too attached to Shol) to see if this changes your situation

No arguments here, just trying to help you troubleshoot your issue.
Have you asked in /global/shout/guild if everyone else on the server is experiencing the same issue? If yes, could be a server issue, if no, sounds like a you issue.
Have you checked that you meet the hardware requirements? Are you playing on an SSD? Have enough video memory and RAM? Is your internet connection stable (are you playing on wired vs wireless?)
Have you run a traceroute to see if you are experincing packetloss?
Have you verified steam files to see if you have a corrupt file?
Have you updated your video drivers, and tried temporarily disbling any antiviruses to see if that's a contributing factor?
It's not always "the servers" that cause rubber banding.
You can press "PAGE UP" in game, check your SW (server worker), and travel away from your current spot until that number changes. See if you still experience the issue. If not, it could be that one server worker was overworked.
Lots of things you can try to do to fix the issue

pro tip. don't log out in cities. your queue is directly realted to how many people are on the server worker you logged out in.
use the PAGE UP tip I posted above, and make sure you run until you reach a different server worker than your city (or popular grinding areas) to log out in. It will save you hours of waiting in queues

don't logout in highly populated areas like towns or major POI's. always run to a different server worker. You can see what server worker you are on by pressing page down, look at SW. Run untill the SW changes. then you are usually safe to logout. This will save you from being in queue 99.9% of the time.

you can take steps to actively avoid getting stuck in a queue. Queues are based on the population of the SW you logged out on. Next time you log out, press PAGE UP key on your keyboard, take note of the SW in your city, and travel away until it chances to a different SW. Start logging out at that spot (preferably one away from POI's, grinding spots, settlements), and you should have better luck not getting stuck in queues

pay tax button is a little buggy. Make sure you have no tax certificates in your inventory, and try clicking the "Pay tax" button again (if it's lit up). For me it then went grey and was unclickable, and the issue fixes itself

You will need to pay taxes every tax period though, so yes, your taxes will be due again on the 8th

Crates are subject to diminishing returns based on how many of the same type of crate have been taken to the same location.

Unfortunately the pricing screen does not reflect the diminishing returns unless you have the crate equipped and interact with the NPC beside the station you crafted the crate at, as if you were going to sell it for the least amount of money possible. (This should update the pricing window). Hopefully the UI will be adjusted in the future to show current diminished return prices (maybe post in ⁠alpha-two-feedback and add a comment about that!)

You can counter the lower prices by crafting higher quality crates using higher quality crate certificates + higher quality materials (or try sportsfishing)

since you said solo run, I'd recommend a Bard. Very versatile, great sustain, no downtime.

I can’t respond to various posts/ threads yet. But I saw one mention fast travel. I don’t want fast travel, love old school MMOs where you have to explore. But I wouldn’t mind if a game added fast travel as a teleportation spell for mages etc, something you work towards and if other players could pay you for you to teleport them. I think that would be neat and not take away from the game and add an additional way for players to interact and make gold, and add utility spells outside of combat etc. it could also have like a 30m free teleport/ charges, so you could teleport players across from you, could add tactile maneuvering for group play.

A few things you can do:

• go to Joeva/halycon/winstead and grab a ton of commission quests off the boards there. They have levels on them. Don’t grab kill ones unless they are lower level. Lots of “pick 20 flowers “

• farm mats farm farm farm. Good exp from that. Stash blue and up in bank.

• figure out how to make a crate at avens end and walk it to briarmoor. Do it again yes. Again and again. Gets you some silver

• go to church of the seven stars and find a group. Popular noob spot. Look on map (zoom in a bit) it’s south west of LH.

Its not the storages, its the lag on the server worker. Try leaving town and waiting a few minutes. It needs time to load in. If you cant see the guild storage or the Crate dude behind the storage area, then its not loaded yet.

You can also try accessing your storage from the caravan guy just inside the front doors.

Phoenix ghost npcs, do not target thieves, but do target ppl fighting, almost certainly because they did this for corrupted individuals having to respawn, problem being...they dont target ppl actively stealing, as it isnt seen as a 'doing damage' action for some reason.

The game is okay, but the basics don't work properly, like the warehouse, auction, and other small things. But what's irritating me the most is having to pay for other people's stupidity. First, dying and losing XP because I got stuck somewhere, inside a wall, etc. Second, arriving in a city, a PK attacks, and I get stuck because I have to defend myself and get attacked by other players. Furthermore, if I don't defend myself, the PK kills me, and their friend takes my backpack or drops, and they lose the RED (red points) by dying to a mob or another player, and the cycle continues. Okay, it's an alpha, so I accept the bugs, but the PK system needs to be changed because it's simply impossible to do anything (I'm not saying to apply more punishments because I think being a PK is already very punishing, but it's flawed as it is and needs to be worked on and discussed with the community).

its a linear increase and past a certain breakpoint you will change the rarity

Not like wow at all, Right now it's a mix between Lineage 2 and Archage. which were the inspirations for this game and highly loved and played by this games CEO. Combat is fun, the world is more harsh than what you'd expect in wow. There's not much hand holding and time for a new person to grasp the systems and learn where to go and what to go after. a little bit of a headache, but once you understand all the offerings, there's more than what you'd get out of wow. think Classic wow with less direction and more to learn and you'll be fine. the game is far from done however lots to do just no direction where to do it.

im completely fine with the direction they are taking it. ive watched a few videos and followed it since its creation -- just never got into it due to the massive hate towards the "scam" that was being pushed. but clearly that wasnt true. plus wow has become an arcade shit show. its not even worth playing to me anymore.
