I have, it was pretty damn fun. It was 2.5 though so the player base died and I only got one really good fight over a relic and one other day of killing solo folks on a ship running crates.

Ship is faster than caravans for sure. The water croc was every so slightly faster and could catch you over long distance if they were determined. Not sure of current speed vs water mounts as some of them seem much faster than before.
Like anything it depends on how geared you are and how many people you got. It takes awhile but not as long as a heavily armored caravan.
No it does not auto pilot, if you get off the wheel it stops, good way to take out a ship is to kill the driver.
It goes into the harber, pretty much the same as a caravan in that regard.

What area are you in? If in Riverlands, I will assume you got your horse already. Go to the 2nd Sword Outpost west a ways from Lionshold and get the top quest from the Captain. After you finish that, go back to Lionshold and near the storage guy by the south gate, talk to the Sargent, follow that quest line. After all that go get a group at Church of the Seven.

This TTK isn't actually bad at all. I will neck myself if I have to build 40% mitigation like 2.5 as a DPS. Stat check meta is not it either. It could get better for sure but IMO this is the best iteration of TTK we have had.

Eph gave wll their enemies generally equal access to early resources to figure things out and would try to offer organized fights but they also kept their foot down on the neck and didn't let up
